+ 2 moreIt went great! They were very professional, customized the job to our budget. We had difficult weather conditions which they worked around the best way possible. We were kept informed at every stage of the job. Their skill level exceded our expectations. We have an older home and is very difficult to work on and they managed to solve any problems they encountered still staying within our budget. We would definately recommend their services and will use them again. We now have the nicest exterior on the block. Thank you Mike, Mike and Dan! They are also pet friendly, the dog misses them.
Description of Work: Replace concrete front steps, built A frame structure over new steps, new railing, replace front interior and exterior doors, replaced awning on side of house and new interior security door.

+ 0 moreMK Remodeling came through for us with flying colors again. Originally, we were going to replace all interior doors in our house, but that turned out to be not within our budget. Still, Mike was willing to fit a smaller version of the job (fewer doors) he was originally called to do, into his schedule. Dimensions-wise, it seems that nothing is ever easy in our house, but Mike was diligent in taking measurements and double-checking them, obtained the least expensive, good quality doors for us, and with his crew got the job done quick and clean. The doors look great. He got us the doorknobs that can be opened from the outside, in case a child locks herself in the bathroom again. The closer that he installed at our request on the door leading to the basement is a great convenience for when we're schlepping huge bundles of laundry and need that door shut due to the air conditioning on the other floors. We will continue to call upon MK Remodeling for our home improvement projects.
Description of Work: Acquired and installed 4 solid wood interior doors + hardware, including a door closer on one door.

+ 0 moreMike was present for the original estimate and followed through with doing all that he said he would and in a timely manner. The wall was water damaged due to an eroding exterrior chimney adjacent to this bedroom wall. The dry wall work and plastering was outsourced to an excellent plasterer, Tom Henneley, who repaired the hole. A week later after the plaster was dried, Mike finished the job with the paint work. We are very pleased with the work.

+ 0 moreMike and his son came out to look at the job. They were both very courteous and professional in their assessment and explanation of what needed to be done. The only reason we did not choose them was because of a referral to another contractor from a family member. Although we did not use their services I am sure that they do nice work based on their rating and would benefit another Angie's List member.
Description of Work: Requested a quote on fixing an interior support wall that was collapsing. This involved tearing out the bottom 4 feet of the wall and repairing whatever problem was behind the wall to get it back into a straight line and then replacing the wall and painting.

+ 5 moreVery good quality of work, and most importantly, professional and easy to deal with. MK were highly responsive to our requests. Every misunderstanding was interpreted in our favor. Came back several times to take care of loose ends. Also, the project took less time than estimated. Overall, very positive experience.
Description of Work: New doors installed and painted, walls painted, ceiling fixed, ceiling fan installed, hardwood floors installed throughout the house, custom bookshelves built-in, other odd jobs performed.

+ 6 moreMike and Mike kept us dust-free throughout the remodeling process. They ensured that we had some sort of a useable kitchen whenever humanly possible. For example, they prioritized the installation of sink fixtures and roughed in a plywood countertop for us so that we could continue to perform some kitchen tasks during the course of the remodel. They solicited my approval at the beginning of each next step, either because there was a choice that could be made regarding some mechanical aspect or because they wanted to be crystal clear on aesthetic aspects that were important to me. While standard work was finished by the end of August or thereabouts, they were happy to return several times thereafter, at no additional charge, to apply finishing touches that occurred to me after the fact, such as moulding on the bottom edges of cabinets over the pass-through, and a background piece of wood for a ristra that I wanted to hang next to a cabinet. Then when our painter apparently pulled blue tape the wrong way and took some cabinet finish with it, Mike scored us a new “skin” and got it installed before the holidays. The point is that through autumn, the Mikes were involved in many other major, time-consuming projects, but continued to be accessible and managed to fit in additional tasks in our kitchen, even though they had been paid in full. This company provides expertise and excellent value for the money and I wholeheartedly recommend the Krakovitzes.
Description of Work: Mike (Sr.) is true to his mantra: “I want you to be happy.” He promptly answered my email request for an estimate, and showed up 15 minutes early on appointment day. He accepted my rough ideas for a kitchen remodel and turned them into a well-ordered design, with new appliances and cabinet layout. He was enthusiastic about trying to make most of my ideas work, and was the voice of reason when it came to the unworkable ones. He provided ideas on how to save money on accessories, such as cabinet inserts and lighting. I never mentioned this before now, but I canceled all plans I had to meet with other remodelers after my appointment with Mike; he is obviously knowledgeable, experienced, and he inspires confidence. Then, when he presented his rough estimate, my husband and I were very pleasantly surprised. Even so, he emphasized that additional adjustments could be made to choice of products for the sake of price. Once we officially hired Mike, his next step was to take our design to his consultant at Haverford Kitchen and Bath, who tweaked it a bit more, when it came to which types of cabinets could go where, and what type of hardware would be suitable. A couple of pieces were custom made, for the sake of design symmetry. It was a pleasure working with Mike and his designer, here again in a serene, attentive, no-rush environment. Mike and Mike (Sr. and Jr.) did all the old cabinet and appliance removal, new cabinet and countertop installation, new appliance installation, wiring for same, addition of electrical outlets, new lighting, tilework, grouting, and sealing--everything in the kitchen was changed except for the floor, door and windows. Mike Sr. noted that the floor was in good shape and vowed that he, Mike Jr., and their crew would keep it that way. They added a microwave and garbage disposal to our complement of appliances, and changed the position of our dishwasher. They expertly cut a pass-through between the kitchen and dining room with a countertop overhang in the dining room, spackled around it, and replaced a chair rail.

+ 1 moreThe night of hurricane Irene, I came home to find water dripping on the seat of my livingroom's front bow window and flowing from the ceiling fan over my bed as well as from other leaks in the ceiling of my bedroom on the second floor. Once the insurance inspector came and gave his summation of damages, I jumped on Angie's List to find a contractor. Mike Sr. of MK Remodeling came out, assessed the damage, submitted the best price and assured me that everything would be put back to normal. They repaired the roof and then said to wait for a good rainfall to make sure everything was good before moving onto repairing the inside. Once we were ready to begin inside, his son, Mike Jr. came out with the crew each day as working supervisor. He was very informative, walking me through the stages of construction with dates of beginning and completion. The first week I stayed home to see how things were going and I was extremely pleased to find they were highly professional, neat and all about the task at hand and staying on schedule. It was very reassuring to see that Mike Jr. was onsite the entire time and Mike Sr. stopped in from time to time just to check in. The second week I felt secure enough to leave a key and go back to work while they completed what was left to do. It was so reassuring to see the progression as well as to find that they had cleaned up behind themselves each day. They were even conscientious about our cat not getting out – which wasn't too much trouble since she basically just made an appearance to say hello and then disappeared up to our finished attic but they still made sure she was no where near the door when they had to go outside. I am so pleased with their work. I would highly recommend MK Remodeling to anyone needing work done to their home and I would definitely use them again for any other work I would want done to my house.
