JOE GRAY HOME IMPROVEMENTS

On April 30, 3015, I contacted Joe Gray Home Improvements to see if they were interested in painting my garage and building some custom cabinets in said garage. I received a response in the same day and was told I would be contacted when they could come out to measure for an estimate. On not having received any communication from them, on May 12 I e-mailed to see if they were still interested. On May 16 they responded that if I still needed somebody by the end of June to contact them as they were busy until then. Would it have been that difficult to tell me during the initial conversation that they were busy till the end of June instead of making me wait 16 days to find that out?

Joe was great to work with, he is very efficient, professional and does a great job. We have a kitchen renovation going on. He did the drywall work, replaced the electrical in the kitchen, he installed new water lines for the kitchen sink and icemaker and some additional required plumbing work. Joe is going to do our tile backsplash and some other work around the kitchen. He also expanded and replaced a door frame in our laundry room. He worked around our schedule and other contractors schedules. I plan on having Joe do additional work for me in the future and would recommend him for any interior work in the house. Even our dogs like him (which says a lot).

Everything was great! Joe is a real pleasure to work with. He came out the day after my call to assess the work and provide his estimate. As luck would have it, he had an opening in his schedule that allowed him to start the work immediately. Joe completed all of the work according to the agreed work plan and the quality of his work was very good. Will certainly use his services again in the future and I'm very happy to endorse him to others!!

Things went pretty much as expected. Once again, he let me help, so I learned a few things and saved a few bucks. Thanks Joe.

Joe built a deck attached to my swimming pool. He came to my house and gave me an estimate. His pricing was very fair and he was knowledgeable. He started the job and finished the job on the date he said. He was courteous, professional, and experienced. He did a great job on the deck and we are very pleased. Everyone who has seen the deck has complimented me on it and said the contractor did a wonderful job. I would definitely use Joe again for any home projects that he can take on. His area of expertise is very broad. I'm happy I've finally found a contractor I can trust and knows his craft.

Joe was awesome! He was responsive to my needs. Took care of the most important items like the front door and gate as soon as he could. He was reasonable priced. He did fantastic work would recommend to anyone.

Joe was able to start our job two weeks earlier than he had planned, which worked out great for us. He started the job on a Friday and then I had to be out of town. He returned on the following Monday-Tuesday-and Wednesday and finished the job for us. He did a great job for us and seems to be a very trustworthy contractor.

I cannot be more pleased. Here is the short version in this first paragraph, reading-on for gory details. Finally, I've ?got a guy? who acts with integrity, is professional, does a high-quality job, is friendly and, most importantly, is incredibly reliable. This was no small job. We just moved-in and contacted Joe to help us with windows, flooring and more. No creepy sub-contractors or laborers. Very amicable, extremely reliable and dedicated. Very fair price, much better than the quote I got at Big-Box home improvement store. Many handymen have Angie reviews showing that they can do small jobs, and I needed one who could do both big jobs will skill and small stuff with equal consideration and care. I will call Joe soon for a finished basement, maybe the attic or french doors in my office... likely all of them. The workers: Joe takes great pride in his reputation, and that?s how I found him on Angie?s List. I am a veteran when it comes to home renos, and I had many concerns about sub-contractors, reliability, quality, and transparency regarding pricing and change-orders. First, Joe does the estimate, and he is always on the job as the principal. Second, if he needs assistance, Joe is smart in that he networks with his fellow contractors so that he gets skilled and reliable help. This quid pro quo relationship was interesting because I would have thought Joe would want to hire cheaper labor to help with the grunt work, but as he explained ? and demonstrated - it goes faster and better when two people who know what they are doing work together, e.g., installing new construction windows, Joe?s partner knew what was next, what Joe would need, and then worked his side while Joe did the other ? same with hardwood installation, the other guy knew which pieces to pick (the wood colors and patterns are very diverse and need some planned placement) and helped move along installation. I would trust any of Joe?s network of professionals. Unexpectedly dedicated to the job: Joe did not fly around from job-to-job, thereby unduly delaying our project?s completion. Joe was here every day at 8 a.m. and stayed until 4:30 for over six weeks. He was extremely organized and neat, cleaning-up every day. My family is not too keen on having contractors in our home for long periods ? we?re a bit paranoid that way. We felt extremely comfortable with Joe and any helpers (again, not just any laborers). We felt so comfortable that child sick-days or work from home days were no problem. In fact, with the Christmas and New Year holiday, Joe was accommodating enough to leave us be during our time off from work as we requested, although he was willing to work the day after Christmas and up to New Year?s Eve if we didn't ask. Joe actually has a Santa-like jolly nature and laugh, and the kids liked him. Joe communicated the plan clearly, provided the estimate accurately, and charged me very fairly. Change orders were no problem, and I never felt like I was being gouged when I asked for a modification on-the-fly. Again, I trusted him ? contrary to my experience ? and he deserved that trust. Hickory hardwood floors were installed on 1,100 square foot; the challenge was removing the existing hardwood and two-layers of linoleum and glue board in the kitchen. The original construction carpenters nailed the glue board every 3-4 inches which was secure but a dog to tear-up. The area was properly prepped, the job logically started at my office, then into the kitchen on a day that was least intrusive, and then onto the remainder. Without asking, the sub-flooring was screwed down to avoid squeaking ? which it did in certain areas. Everything was cleaned-up afterwards, ready to set furniture and decorate. You should see it, amazing. The Big-Box home improvement estimate was more, and they did not quote removing the kitchen floor because they didn't want to. New and modified windows installed: We had many windows replaced, but, more challenging, Joe converted one wall with a single window to an amazing 3-window configuration (see image). Joe properly removed the drywall, had to re-route electric, and re-installed drywall, taping and spakling perfectly ? I painted. The attic had small windows, and Joe added larger windows requiring proper cutting and trimming inside and out, boy was it cold up there. A slider was replaced, and Joe detected water intrusion from before and raised and sealed the section to avoid future problems. I noticed the exterior trim, and boy does it make my home look newer, cleaner and tight as a drum (see image). Tiles in the mudroom and a laundry sink added: Joe properly removed linoleum and glue board, screwed-in hardy board, and? well? it looks amazing, level, neatly spaced, grouted, and fitted along edges. All doors were replaced, washer-dryer put back into place and mudroom sink ready was ready to use. I am writing this because it is important for us consumers to share stories in order that we may find service providers who care about their reputation. Joe is our family's ?guy.? There's so much still to do in this home, and with Joe making it quite easy (I hate the prospect of a bad contractor) we will have him back sooner than expected.

I only had some minor electrical work that I needed done and Joe was willing to help me out in the past so I gave him a call. He came to my home to look over the work as soon as I was available and the work was done the following week. Even though it was a small job Joe made me feel like a priority and treated our home as if it was his own. The work was done sooner than expected and under his original estimate. If this is how he conducts his business for a small job like mine I can only imagine the level of attention you can expect for a larger remodel. Joe is very thorough and professional and I would recommend his skills to anyone looking to make improvements to their home.

I needed a handyman to put a new vinyl floor in my bathroom, and to make a drywall repair to a big hole in my living room wall. I contacted Joe Gray because of his high marks on Angie's List. Joe was reliable, on time, and his communication was good. Joe came to my house, we looked things over and discussed the job, and then we headed over to Lowes. He told me everything I needed to get, we loaded it on his truck, and then started the job. Joe is a pleasant person to work with, he does a nice job, and he tries to save you money -- including by letting you help. This was great for me, because as a new home owner, I wanted to learn from someone that knew what he was doing. I am very pleased with the final outcome. I would definitely use Joe Gray again, and I would also recommend him to others.

He was professional. The price was significantly higher then the competitor.

Joe was very easy to get along with and was very professional. Cleaned up afterwards. He was careful in performing his work and did a very good job. Only issue was not offering an alternative to the purchased fire-door in frame for the high threshold that comes with the door. This is a tripping hazard. I was surprised he did not offer to replace the threshold the door came with, with another one that would ramp down to the floor.

Perfect! I am not easily impressed but I can't say enough positive things about Joe. Very professional. Highest quality work. Easy to work with. Joe provided ideas to us to save on time and money. So look no further, Joe's the guy that will get it done.

Joe is that rare combination of master craftsman and designer/artist. We're so pleased with the work he did on our bathroom. He worked with our budget to come up with a very attractive solution. And he paid attention to every little detail--even polishing the brass on the antique door handle. There were several unexpected obstacles that he had to deal with due to some very poor DIY remodeling by the former homeowner. Joe handled everything efficiently and effectively and discussed everything with us to make sure we knew what was going on--and then he did everything the right way. He's incredibly reliable and trustworthy. We keep trying to think of other things for him to fix! You can trust Joe to make your home a better place. Funny story--you know how there's the Angie's List commercial about the contractor who walks the customers's dog for her? Once, when our dog walker was late--Joe was the one taking care of our dog for us. He's just that kind of guy!

Joe arrived on time and was very pleasant to work with. He paid attention to detail and cleaned up when finished inside and outside. He matched the capping on the windows to the existing windows on the house. Joe did an excellent job. He is currently working on pricing the windows for my basement. I am very pleased with the work.

The job went extreemly well. I was purchasing a home to flip and needed the second floor bathroom brought up to date with style and newer fixtures. Joe's Home Improvement worked out a budget with me and i gave him full authority to complete the job. Other than picking out some colors and tile, Joe completed the job within my time contraints without much worry or bother to me. I was very pleased with the results. I was able to concentrate on many other aspects of the flip. Joe's Home Improvement was a solid asset in helping me accomplish my goal.

I was finishing up work on an investment property and the handyman I was counting on did not come through. Joe was able to get everything I needed done. If you're looking for a "Jack of All Trades", call Joe Gray. He's a no nonsense guy that works hard with no drama. Those of you that have hired contractors in the past surely know what I mean by that. There are no excuses or over charges. He says he's going to do something and he does it. He says he's going to be there at a certain time and he's there. If this review doesn't convince you of his skills, pricing and integrity, this will: I'm lining up my next renovation project and will be contacting Joe. I'm also looking to remodel my kitchen and will be looking for a quote from him on that as well. If I'm looking to hire him again... he must be good. Of the 8 different contractors I used on this recent project, I only plan on using 2 of them again and Joe is one of them.

Very happy with all the work. Joe knows what he is doing in all phases. He worked every day until job was done. I always call Joe for home improvements.

Joe has an excellent knowledge of all home repairs. Was on time every morning. Worked a full day and came every day until the job was finished. He accompanied me to purchase cabinets and gave suggestions. Cleaned up every day at the end of the day. Let me know in plenty of time when I needed to pick out what he was installing next. Took care of all deliveries . A pleasure to deal with and fair in his pricing.

From beginning to end Joe was professional courteous and punctual. He completed the work in a timely manner without any hiccups. This was not the first time I have used him and he will be the first person I call if I'm in future projects. -

All work was done on time and at the quoted. All work was done to the highest quality. I have several projects planed for next year and Joe will have a advantage over other bidders. He was always available for updates. Honesty is very important to me and Joe qualified as an honest vendor.

Joe Gray is a competent worker and designer. He is creative and works well in small and large spaces. He is cordial and a perfectionist. His work is excellent and he worked hard to create beautiful spaces. He cleans up after himself and created a beautiful environment for my 1926 home. He is excellent to work with and is punctual. There was no need for a call back and I am exceedingly pleased with his work and the finished product.

I contact Joe to request an estimate for a hardware floor installation. He was at my home on a Sunday to measure and get needed information to provide an estimate. I had a very strict budget and timeline to get the work done and I indicated that up front. Within 3 days I was provided with an estimate by Joe, after a bit of discussion he started the job the following week. Joe was professional and courteous. I needed to get an additional box of the wood and Joe offered to pick it up for me on his lunch break. Unfortunately that didn't work out as I gave him the wrong information on where I got the wood in the first place, he was kind enough to call around for me and I went to the next town to get the additional box. I was very pleased with the final product . how the floor looked and the clean up that was done. I have more flooring to install and I'm definitely giving Joe a call again when I'm ready.
