The lawn treatment went okay, I had to call a couple times to get them to do the aeration. However when they billed me, they charged me for services I did not sign up for. I've been calling every week for about 3 weeks now asking them to adjust the price. They are very nice and professional on the phone and say they are working on it but in the mean time they keep emailing me telling me I owe them the full amount (for services I didn't sign up for and I don't think they even performed) and if I don't pay I will be charged a late fee. I will not be using them again and will try to cancel all remaining lawn treatments
Description of Work: I bought an Angie's list deal for lawn aeration only and ended up signing for some additional lawn treatment.

Tim, the site consultant, came to assess the work needed to be done. He recommended treatments for some ailing trees. His recommendation also included scheduled maintenance to correct the issues. One tree needed to be removed due to storm damage. 2 very old evergreens needed systemic remedies. Some plants were put on the maintenance schedule as well. Tim was very knowledgeable and I found his recommendations right on.
Description of Work: I found this company to be excellent in all areas. An Arborist came to assess the treatment needed. He was incredibly helpful in explaining what the trees and plants needed, since I had some disease issues on both. The men performing the work were excellent and I would use them again.

SavATree/SavALawn will always be on the higher end of the price scale. However, at least in this region, they cannot compensate in service or professionalism for their prices. We had already gone through two service managers assigned to our account and region -- The first is no longer with the company (after destroying our lawn) and the second we kicked off our property this year after signing us up for lawn treatments without our approval. So with all of the lawn and service problems out-of-the-way, we kept the plant service from the company...until we began pruning our plantings early this summer and discovered a white powdery fungus on some of them. I immediately took pictures of the infected plants and emailed them over to SavATree with a request to have someone get out to our property and inspect the plants and give us a recommendation. Also, to explain to us why this was happening to our plants when we were under a regularly scheduled inspection and treatment program. The SavATree office replied back that the only individual in the area available was Tim the manager we had kicked off our property. And that if we approved, Tim would come out to conduct the inspection, report his findings to the area manager Joe and have Joe contact us. I agreed reluctantly and waited for an assessment. After a week and a half passed I sent the SavATree office manager another email, this time a bit upset, wondering what was going on and why haven't we heard from them. A few days later I get an email reply claiming that their service manager Joe had attempted to contact me, left me a voice mail, etc. She also claimed that the condition afflicting our plants was Scale and it would cost us an additional $398 to treat! I replied that our regularly scheduled treatment is supposed to address Scale (states Scale right in the treatment description on the bills) and that this was a white powdery substance, not Scale. At this point myself and my spouse felt that SavATree did not even come out to visit our property. There is a huge difference in appearance and treatment of fungus and Scale and it was obvious which we had infecting our two plants. Furthermore, we felt insulted that the company would claim to have contacted us when in reality we never received a phone call or a voice mail from anyone in the company -- even after I wrote my telephone in an email to them! It was at this point in the conversation that myself and my spouse asked SavATree to cancel our service with no further responses needed from their company. After dealing with this company for over two years, going through multiple account managers, having our lawn completely destroyed by their untimly and under-performing treatments, being insulted by their lawn care technician (who was ultimately dismissed from their company last year for customer complaints), being out-right lied to by service managers and office staff, and feeling as if the company is attempting to squeeze us for additional money for (expensive) preventative services that we are already paying for we have terminated any and all contact with this company. We strongly feel that this company's professionalism, communication, and quality of products are all dismal and are far below expectations one would have, especially considering their prices. We would not recommend this company to anyone for any services; both lawn and plant care. Ultimately, we are not looking for SavAtree/SavALawn to try to salvage any relationship with us; we have given them numerous attempts to do so with both our lawn and our plant care. Each time we have given the company the benefit-of-the-doubt we have regretted doing so.
Description of Work: We have had a plant fertilization and insect treatment from SavATree for all of our fruit and landscape plantings for two years now. I have to be up-front and also state that last year we did have SavALawn (same company) fertilize and care for our lawn -- to disastrous results. Our plant service included inspecting and spraying treatments on all of our evergreen, fruit, and landscaping plants on the property. The service contract is for a year and is scheduled to occur about every 5-6 weeks or so. Keep this in mind when seeing my quote for $150 cost in this review, as it is $150 PER application. Lawn care disaster details:Lawn care program last year included aeration, over-seeding , and fertilization treatments regularly scheduled every 4-6 weeks. Against our instincts, SavALawn aerated and over-seeded our lawn in mid-to-late Spring. By mid-summer, our lawn had become a wild weed prairie, crowding out our grass mixtures. Once SavALawn removed the area account manager and brought in the new one, they attempted to salvage our lawn by providing us with two rounds of Q4 weed killer treatment on our property at no cost. However, by the time the two rounds of Q4 had been completed it was early-to-mid fall and we had little time to plant grass seed. SavALawn offered to over-seed our lawn and fertilize it, as well as aerate, etc for just over $1,000 -- and this was on-top of the discount applied for having destroyed our lawn to begin with. With sticker shock and disgust over the company attempting to pull $1,000 out of us for a service we felt we had just paid them for in the previous year, we declined the service.

Fortunately most clients appreciate our comprehensive services and professionalism as is evident in our extensive list of positive reviews. This client previously dabbled in caring for his own property with poor results, and it takes time to repair and regrow problem areas. No one from our team was fired but no one was acceptable to this member either. We concluded that we aren’t a good fit and wish him well.

Service has been very poor. I purchased the Big Deal at $140.00 for $300.00 worth of Tree Service. SavATree Max Burton called within 24 hours and an appointment was scheduled for 7/28/11. At the time of the scheduled appointment, i explained to Max Burton what i wanted done and was impressed with his knowlengle of the trees and the lawn care needed, i signed an agreement for an additional $450.00 of service. Total amount of services including the Big Deal, $750.00 At the time of the scheduled appointment i inquired about went would i be scheduled for the services to be performed and was told, shortly and i did not need to be home.On 7/28/2011, the service agreement was signed for $750.00 of service with an authorization to withdraw $375.00 from visaOn 8/14/2011, while checking my banking account, i notice SavaTree made a withdraw from my visa of $387.00, amount not authorized, only $375.00.On 8/15/2011, i called to office indicating why was anything withdrawn from my visa, before i was scheduled for service or before the service was performed. I asked the staff member could she tell me the date my services were scheduled and she indcated i had to call Max Burton. I also indicated that the amount witdrawn was incorrect. I called Max Burton and he indicated that a crew would come out within the next few days. On or about 8/17/2011, a crew from SavATree showed and they performed the following:Pruned One (1) 14" maple by driveway, removed vines from Pyracantha and grinded (4) four stumps and removed the stump grindings for the removals. They failed to remove the stump grindings for the two piles located in the rear of the house. I asked the crew during the work and they indicated they did not have the tools needed to remove the rear piles and that another crew would return within the next few days to complete the agreement. Three incorrect bills, several calls asking for the service to be completed per the agreement and nothing done. A call to the front office on 9/26/2011,indicating another bill was incorrect and the service was not performed. New appointment for 10/4/2011 was give, company failed to show, agreement not completed. April 26,2012, I as the consumer failed to provide an update on the above indicated report around the close of the year 2011, the owner of the company called and expressed his concern that the service was poor and wanted to correct the problem. He resolved the dispute with the balance and offered to seed the area around the stumps. I thank him for making the situation right. After talking with him and the completion of the job order, the job was well done.
Description of Work: Contracted services to be performed: One (1) 14" Japanese Maple by driveway - Prune to clear driveway by 10' and to remove deadwood 1" in diameter or greater One (1) 10" White Pine, front and Three (3) 6" Cedars along right side of house - Take down. Remove vines from Pyracantha. Grind four (4) stumps from removals. Remove stump grindings, plus two piles in back. Leave 2" gap for topsoil from homeowner.

It went very well. The estimate was done very professionally and we were in touch with the same person who did the estimate throughout and after the job was finished. He gave us excellent advice and organized for the work to get done only a couple days after we had the estimate done. He gave me a price for all the work, which seemed to be a special price. Unlike many other companies, he didn't come in with that price and say I had to decide then and there to either accept or reject it. He gave me time to talk with my husband and get other estimates. I did have four estimates and these people were the easiest to talk to and gave me the best price. They also seem to prioritize holding on trees whenever possible, instead of trying to push people to get rid of trees so they can charge more. Very pleased and would definitely recommend them.
Description of Work: They removed three trees (two big, one small) and trimmed all of the many bushes around my house. They also removed a heap of tree related debris about 10 feet wide, 6 feet high, 8 feet deep.

I bought an Angie's deal thinking this would work out. I made the initial call only to have to leave a message on a voicemail and then didn't get a reply. I called back again later, but was told that my house (despite the coupon supposedly for my area) and was told that I would have to contact someone different to schedule because I was out of their area. By the time I could get to this, the coupon had expired. Perhaps this was not typical of the company and they were overwhelmed by people buying the Deal?

Description of Work: Sav-A-Tree trimmed my trees for me and removed a downed limb. I got three estimates; one for $2700, one for $2400 and Sav-A-Tree did the same work for $1800. My only complaint was that they didn't cut back the trees aggressively enough. But they did do exactly what we agreed upon and were a pleasure to work with. The crew arrived very promptly with all the proper equipment to do things quickly. They got right to work pulling up old shrubs in my front yard. Then they cut down a very large quince I always wanted removed. They also ground down the stump. They pruned several forsythia bushes, trimmed a huge burning bush and removed many tall woody weeds from my back yard. Everything went very well. I was pleased with the quality of the work. It was obvious that they were interested in selling me additional services (i.e. lawn service), but I declined. Just a note, the Sav a Tree foreman made some recommendations to me for tradesman to do other landscape services like mulching. They did not pan out as well.

The company responded almost immediately to my request for an estimate. They were scheduled for two days later. The representative walked the property with me and in addition to my suggested "needs" pointed out several other trees which needed attention. By the end of our meeting he had a list. I asked that he individually price each item because I intend to get two additional estimates and wanted to make comparisons. Twenty minutes later he had the estimate for me. He was very efficient. I indicated that I was an Angie's List patron. When I had the three estimates my husband and I made our decision to go with SavaTree. We put down a $313 deposit (in addition to our $140 Angie's list coupon). Within a day after calling them they had scheduled work for the following week. IN the meantime, they sent someone to give a scale treatment to our ailing Dogwood. Within two weeks most of the work had been done. By week four, all work had been completed. They work in teams--each with a special assignment: a) tree medication b) Removing trees and grinding stumps c) trimming spare branches and shaping d) binding trees. we were very satisfied and certainly would recommend them. We will use them again.

Obtained service from the "Big Deal" , $300 worth of tree service for $140.00. Met with Matt to discuss concerns regarding Maple tree in the back yard. Particularly the limbs hanging over the roof. The esitmate for removal of the limbs was more than what would be covered under the Big Deal. We agreed to the work that was performed ( removal of 6 two inch limbs) with the price paid for the Big Deal. The limbs are off my roof making it safer during storms.
Description of Work: Performed crown raising off house to 20 foot including removing 6 two inch limbs of from a 30 inch Red Maple. It took a few weeks for Sav A Tree to complete the work, mostly due to weather issues. The work was performed professionaly, efficiently and the work site was cleaned up satisfactorily.

I got the Angie's List Big Deal ($140 for $300 worth of tree work). I figured that would pretty well cover finishing up the cleanup that my old tree service had abandoned. SavaTree called me within 24 hours of my purchasing the Big Deal to schedule the arborist to evaluate the job. Matt Z. came out on 5/11 and walked all around my yard with me. Although he was willing to quote on some yard cleanup I needed done, he admitted SavATree would be more expensive for that work than a regular landscaper. We focused on the tree work, and he quoted $375 (before my Angie's Big Deal discount) to complete the following: - perform crown raising to 8' above grade level on two spruce trees (chip and remove) - perform risk reductin pruning of storm-damaged limbs on two douglas firs (chip and remove) - relocate several existing piles of stump grindings to the beds underneath the raised trees - rake off any 1" or larger deadwood in the bed areas (chip and remove) Matt estimated this work would take his two-man crew about an hour. We scheduled the work for first thing on 5/23. First thing on 5/23, the crew arrived as scheduled, walked around with me to confirm their understanding of what was to be done, and got to work. I left the house over two hours later, and they were still at it. When I returned that evening, the work was complete, the quality was great, and the work site was neat and clean. I was very pleased, but holding my breath to see if I'd get charged more for what clearly took longer than Matt had guesstimated. Matt called to follow up on our satisfaction, and left a message. When I returned the call to the office today, because I'd not yet gotten my bill, the office confirmed I'd be billed for $75. I will definitely use this provider again for tree work. It's clear they're probably more expensive than I need for other landscaping services, but when it involves trees that I want to be treated and trimmed, I'll certainly call SavATree again.
