Description of Work: had to have new steps and sidewalk to house from street.was about twenty feet with 3 steps. Did beautiful job and am pleased. seems pricey . if you are doing something similar need to have railings done at same time!

Description of Work: Mark came and looked over the work. He sent me the estimate and I approved immediately .After several months, I called him again and was told he wasn't real good at scheduling. waited another month and called again and was promised to be done before winter. I haven't heard from him since. I left him a message today canceling his contract. I hope my next Angie's list contractor is a bit better.

Description of Work: Mark Pawling worked for us twice last summer and fall doing masonry repair work and repointing our pool wall and brick decking around the pool. We were so satisfied with both the quality and price of the work that we rehired him to repair the brick foundation of our sun room and our brick front steps and sidewalk. He stuck to his quoted price. He and his crew were polite and never bothered us for so much as a drink of water. We'd hire him again in a heart beat.

 + -1 moreMP had the lowest overall bid from among three masonry contractors. Even though this was a smaller job than he normally does, he showed up to evaluate the project and offer suggestions on how it could be completed. He sent me the bid through email and kept in touch responsibly over the phone. The job took several days to complete because of weather and holidays--and MP was almost always doing the work himself, or on-site supervising two assistants who helped with the cement wall. After the capping cement was poured, MP returned later in the evening to smooth it down and illuminated his work using a headlamp. MP and his assistants worked quickly and efficiently, and took care not to damage the landscaping. I could tell they were interested in completing a quality job.
Description of Work: Work was done on 40-foot long cement block wall that separates my property from an alley. The existing capstones on this four-foot high wall were cracking and falling into the alley. MP provided several options for how the work could proceed, and an estimated price for each contingency. MP removed cracked capstones from the wall, added a new row of cement blocks to raise it one level, and poured a rounded cement cap. MP then made six cuts in the poured cap to allow for expansion and contraction. For the second part of the project, MP power-washed brick steps at the front of the house, and re-pointed the gaps that needed more mortar.

 + -1 moreMark came out to give an estimate. I decided that he was very competitive and could start soon. Mark and his 2 workers worked for 2 1/2 days and completed the job to my satisfaction. He was always prompt to return calls and was always on time. They cleaned up after themselves. They are professional and have a long record of experience. They are not some person or company that does masonry work on the side. This is their business and they do it well. I had found him on Craigslist and suggested that he use this service as well.
