Mark Pawling and his crew recently installed stone veneer on our home and did an exceptional job! My husband and I witnessed Mark's hard-working team for two weeks and saw firsthand how skilled they are at their trade and conscientious, too. We also appreciated how accommodating they were when we had suggestions throughout the project. Great job guys!!! We couldn't be happier with the results. Many thanks.

Project took a little longer than expected with making the forms for the cement, as the man doing the work didn't understand exactly how Mark Pawling wanted it done. Mark was at a different job site and not available. However, once Mark was here things went much better. Overall he and his crew did an excellent job, and made sure we were happy with the job. The job started on Monday and was completed to our complete satisfaction the following week on Tuesday. I felt Mark really listened to us and did the work the way we wanted it done.

my first experience using an 'angie's list' provider and it turns into a failure! oh well, things should improve from here ( i hope ). i got several names from angie's list to get an estimate for sidewalk tear-out and replacement. pawling masonary was one of those names. i called on 07-20-2015 and left a message on recorder stating what i wanted. someone from pawling masonay called me back ( i think it was mark pawling) within minutes. i told him i needed an estimate for sidewalk tear-out and replacement. we set up a time of 5pm on 07-22-2015 for the pawling representative to come to my home and look over the job to provide an estimate. 5pm came and went on 07-22-2015 and no representative or no call from pawling masonary. 5:30pm came and went and still no call or no representative from pawling has contacted me. at this point i call the number i had for pawling masonary and nobody answers but i get a recording. i leave my name and tell them they were to be here at 5pm and nobody showed up and nobody called me. i left to run an errand at this time. when i returned home i had a message on my answering machine. the message was from mark pawling at pawling masonary. he was calling to apologize for missing the 5pm appointment. mark said he remembered speaking with me earlier in the week and scheduling the estimate appointment. mark said he wrote the information down but forgot to put it in his 'calendar' and then he just forgot i guess. mark pawling said i could call again to reschedule if i wanted to. I WON'T BE CALLING PAWLING MASONARY BACK AS I CHOOSE NOT TO DO BUSINESS WITH SOMEONE WHO SHOWS NO RESPECT FOR MY TIME.

Asked for service, but no response from Pawling Masonry Inc. at all. Even if they are not interested, they should response to customer's email.

We received several estimates and Mark's was by far the best. He was easy to get a hold of and communicated the whole way through the process. He came on a Saturday and finished the job in a day. He even gave us options for mortar color which ended up matching the existing mortar perfectly. We are happy with the results as the chimney looks better and more importantly is structurally sound, we're now less worried about leaks and further deterioration. We will definitely consider Mark for future masonry work around our house.

They were excellent, very neat, punctual and respectful. I wish I would of hired them sooner.

It went great! They arrived on time, finished in 2 days as scheduled, and cleaned up afterwards. Great experience!

I went to another contractor who promptly completed the job at a lower cost than Pawling.

My initial contact was with Mark in late August or early September. We had arranged to meet and discuss the work that I wanted performed (pointing up the mortar on the brick chimney and under the windows on the front of the house). There were scheduling problems (for both parties) after one or two attempts and I was later contacted by Josh, who finally came out to my house in mid September to look at the job. I was impressed with Josh's knowledge, enthusiasm, and answers to my questions. After discussing the scope of work to be performed, Josh assured me that someone would get back to me within a week with an estimate so we could schedule the job over the winter months. After a week went by, I called to see of they were working on an estimate and was assured that they "hadn't forgotten about me". After another 2 or 3 weeks, I called both Mark and Josh and left a message to see what was up as far as the estimate and scheduling. It is now the second week in December and still I've heard nothing. I like these guys and I would like to have them perform the work, but at this point, I don't know if they are too busy or just don't want to do the work because it is not a big job. If that is the case, it would help if they would just tell me so. I hate to look elsewhere, but communication is an issue here so I may have to give up on these guys. Too bad. I rated them as a "C" overall, with a "D" for responsiveness (or lack thereof) offset by a "B" in punctuality and professionalism for the time when Josh did show up.

I found them on Angie's List. They came out promptly. It took the probably three weeks from start to finish and another week to do the touch-up work that I requested. When I called originally, the owner called me back on the weekend. He sent his foreman out to meet me the following week. He came out and we looked over the plans. They were excellent. They were timely and friendly. They were courteous and professional. They cleaned up on a daily basis after they did their work. Their concern was the total satisfaction of the customer. The crew matched the expectations of the foreman. The foreman matched my expectations. I was thrilled. They are fantastic. They were great.

I called 3 times to schedule a total of 3 different projects to 2 different houses over the course of the next few months and 1 in the spring and Mark didn't even have the courtesy to return any of the 3 calls.

Sent 3 people who worked for 2 days to patch up and replace some bad masonry. He also had a roofer come in to check possible leaks spots. Made good suggestions and completed the work very well.

Mark Pawling is a very nice contractor, and he and his crews do a good job. Our fireplace was leaking and several grout courses needed to be regrouted. This was done very quickly, and, when the leak was noticed to still be present after the repairs, Mark came out and repaired a few more courses of grout that still were contributing to the leak. Problem solved.

contacted mark last year for estimate. due to lateness of the year mark said he would do the work first thing in spring of 2014. Mark's people came in and worked without interruption to get job finished quickly. job was very well done and looks great.

This work was done in late winter and the concern was to eliminate any disruption to the lawn. The project was completed on time, on budget and the lawn was perfect due to the "plywood road" laid prior to start. I have another masonry project coming up this spring (2014) and have already contacted Mark.

After 1-1/2 weeks I contacted him about a quote. He said he had sent it by email, but I had received none. (My computer was working fine.) I had to contact him a second time by phone. He sent me an emailed quote and apologized that I had to contact him twice and that he realized he had not previously sent a quote. | |When I received his quote, it did not include the main item I wanted repaired. I emailed my concern. | |Not hearing from him, I called and spoke to him by phone. He said he was very busy and the job was small. He wasn't sure if he could get to it. If so, it would probably not be until the new year. | |Upon review of the whole scenario, His actions seemed to say that it wasn't worth his bother. It would have saved me time and effort had he come out and said so at the start.

The work was done on time and on budget and was done very cleanly. Mark Pawling was a pleasure to work with and s very knowledgeable about masonry.

Mark was incredibly unprofessional. He met with me to assess the exterior of our row home but spent little time on the assessment (he didn't even bring a ladder to assess the situation). He provided me with his card and mentioned he would get back to me shortly with an estimate. After a few days had passed, I emailed him back since I hadn't heard anything from him, asking whether he could provide us with an estimate. No response. After nearly a week and a half after the initial visit, I called him over the phone to check in. I left a voice mail asking for a response, to at least let me know whether he was planning to provide an estimate or if he was disinterested. Days have since passed and still no response. Unfortunately, it's been a disappointment working with Mark. He has not proven to us to be professional or communicative.

Mark's employee arrived on time and got right to work. It was HOT (first week in September), but he worked tirelessly. After prepping the site, he cribbed the area, put in a good, deep stone base, then rebar, and poured the concrete. He figured just the right amount of drop from the house to the yard so that rain did not puddle near the door. I would estimate that the finished surface has no more than 1/8 of an inch variance from level all around - pretty nice.

The man and his sub-contractor were good. He answers and explains anything that my husband had questions about. My husband wasn't happy on the garage door that they did so they adjusted it and it solved the problem.

Due to other, probably larger projects, ours was put a bit on the backburner and finished later than initially thought, but it was no sweat for us. The repointing was done well and thoroughly, as far as we can judge, but we had some issues with the water-proofing. The agreement was that our windows would be covered while that Hydropel (water repel) stuff is sprayed upon the bricks, but that didn't happen, so we ended up with sprinkles on several windows. Plus the job was done so fast that I did not quite believe it had been done thoroughly. Considering the price for the project, the resulting salary per hour would have been huge. After indicating that to the owner, he had two guys come out again, clean up all soiled window panes, and thoroughly re-do the entire water-proofing while covering the windows with plastic sheets. All's well, I suppose.

Estimate was not detailed enough for me compared to other estimates. Mailed estimate more than a week after he was out
