Charlie arrived promptly at 8:00 am as promised. He went right to work and he never took a break until the job was done.I had several questions to ask as my house is pretty old and the siding needs to be replaced as well. Charlie patiently answered all of my questions and explained what he was doing as he was going along. His work is impeccable and he is immaculate. I will ask for him again when we do the other side of my house. The price is a higher for the windows but the warranty seems pretty good. I will update the status of the windows in the winter. The windows are beautiful, and we are very happy.

It all began when Power sent out its college-age scouts (maybe summer hires) to go door to door in my neighborhood. It so happened that I actually did need to start thinking about replacing my roof so I mentioned that, and I figured why not at least get a free estimate. I scheduled an estimate. The salesman was courteous and knowledgeable and relentlessly upbeat, positive, and optimistic. It was a good show and he believed in his product. I believed in his product, and actually I still do -- a GAF Weather-Stopper roofing system, with 6-nails-per-shingle, a proper drip edge, flashing, ridge-vent (not "shingled-over"), and breathable Deck armor -- is significantly more valuable than "just a roof" -- even when "just a roof" also uses a shingle of equivalent quality and the installation is done by a reputable and skilled independent contractor. The price seemed a little high to me, though still plausible. I was figuring it would be about 10k. 14k seemed a bit steep but not outrageous. And of course, 14k was only available if I signed today. The "real" price was 17k -- which at the time I took to be a clear sign that the 14k was to pre-emptively end any attempt to negotiate price. I should have sent them packing right then and there. That was my first mistake of many. Another mistake I made that same day was taking the 11.5k figure the salesman mentioned to be the actual bottom of the market -- it may have been the bottom of the market for state-of-the-art roofing systems which probably constitute the entire universe of acceptable roofing in the salesman's world, but a "just-a-roof" from a well-insured reputable experienced skilled roofer can definitely be found. You just have to make sure you do your homework. After some casual feedback from acquaintances and friends, it starts to become clearer to me that the price was probably even less reasonable than I had thought. I calculated the price-per-square of my low-sloped 17-square roof, and arrived at $820/square, and I stumbled across some websites where contractors were discussing how they couldn't get business at $280/square, because they kept getting underbid by $270/square contractors. The posts were a little old, and I know costs are relatively high where I live, and that I was buying a product of superior quality, but still that was a factor of three. Worth checking into. So that I read over my own contract, and saw that there was a late cancellation section where I agreed to pay 15% if I wanted to cancel and they also agreed to the cancelation. Since no actual work had been done yet, and I was still a little over a week out from the installation date, I made a last ditch attempt to get another estimate. I picked a contractor that was actually BBB-accredited and scheduled a free estimate from him (At the time Power was A+ rated by the BBB, but not accredited). I made up my mind ahead of time that if the estimate came in over 10k, clearly I'd go ahead with Power. 8.5-10k would be a judgement call that I'd think about later. I was honestly shocked by the estimate -- $5300. While he was noticeably less polished, and his product set missing a few of things that Power offered, he still had the mark of efficiency that inspired confidence. I would contrast his style as low-tech versus Power's state-of-the-art high-tech. And keep in mind with that he was/is BBB *accredited* as well as A+ rated. And $5300. So low, in fact, that I figured he might be a bit desperate. But he has been in business almost as long as Power, and needs to stand by his work to maintain his good reputation (so why worry so much). And he certainly doesn't have the marketing overhead that PowerHRG does, so maybe $5300 was only a little artificially low. Maybe. So, with my installation just a little over three business days out the following Wednesday (or so I thought), I call to attempt to cancel on a thursday night, figuring I'll just pay power the $2100 (15%). And we schedule an appointment for someone to come back out to talk the next evening (Friday). But it turns out the installation was actually Monday (? maybe my fault there, the original install was Wednesday, but they may have called me weeks prior to bump it up to Monday and I was so busy I forgot). The roofing materials arrive Friday morning, and I refused delivery, intending to complete cancelation activity in the evening. The salesman (same one) shows up Friday evening and we go through it all again. He casts enough doubt that I am disarmed again. We are both on the same page that he's definitely got the better product. We review the fact that the GAF warranty is labor inclusive, while the other contractor's Certainteed is not. We compare contractor insurance levels (comparable). The salesman is critical of the alternative contractor's "shingle-over-ridge-vent" -- but my web searches only confirm that shingle-over-ridge-vent is a fairly standard thing. He makes a good case based on physics that it is better to have a specially designed cap shingle, but I would think that there would be some discussion out there in the public space about the practice if it were really that bad. I also expressed my concern at this point that the salesman had misrepresented the market (the $11.5k floor price from the original free estimate). It was here that I figured out that he doesn't really consider anything other than state-of-the-art as being part of the universe of roof candidates. I certainly do, but that was a matter of perspective. In the end, I decided to re-sign a new contract for the same work. I am not sure whether that was a mistake or not. At that point the real cost of actually going through with the installation was only about $12000 since I was on the hook for $2100 anyway. Also, at that point I realized the original installation had actually been changed verbally weeks prior to the next business day (Monday), and that it might not look as reasonable as I had originally thought to do the cancellation. And though I didn't think there was any real danger of the current ownership of PowerHRG getting retaliatory over the cancellation (for anything more than the contractual $2100), you never know when a company will change years down the line, or when rights of enforcement will change hands for reasons beyond their control. Better to just follow through. Throughout it all, up to this point, and going beyond it... through my questions about the GAF warranty details, about the installers, whether they all needed to be certified to maintain the warranty, through my wrangling over whether/when to proceed, through the carry-over of the pre-install from the first contract, through the scheduling the new installation date, the support staff was highly professional and knowledgeable, and it was evident that customer service is a way of life for them. I found it humorous when the service expediter heaved a sigh over the phone and then immediately apologized for it without being prompted. I had not actually noticed because I was laser-focused on getting my questions answered, and he walked with me through all of my concerns during the 3-day recission period (of the second contract) until I was ready to schedule. I know I was kind of a pain, and he was always responsive and pleasant (even with the unintentional sigh). The actual roofers worked hard (I think there were five of them, including the leader) for a total six hours in all (not including lunch). They did a terrific job cleaning up after the job. The yard around the house looks exactly like it did before they started. The team leader spoke well and had the same level of professionalism as the support staff I dealt with on the phone -- and I noticed that he was genuinely happy. I do have some lingering concern that the actual GAF-certified foreman was not present on site at any point. I asked before they started to talk with him, and the team leader told me he would come later. He didn't actually show up, but I spoke to him over the crew leader's cell-phone (right after the job was completed). As of now, this is not a huge deal, and my only (fleeting) worry is how it might impact the GAF warranty (though I've been assured over the phone by a representative at GAF that provided it passes their inspection, it should not matter). And I am not surprised that GAF trusts PowerHRG, because they have inspired my trust as well. The final analysis comes down to cost -- and lots of "what ifs". I answered "yes" to "Would you use this company again?" because I *might* if I were pressed for time, and I certainly would if the price were lower. I think their GAF-certified-contractor pamphlet sums up their business case pretty well. It says: "We've Taken the Worry Out of Choosing A Roofing Contractor" -- you pay a premium for it, but based on my experience, you can trust that they will do the job right.

We thought the job was incredibly professional from the salesperson who took the time to explain the roofing system and guarantees, to the regional mgr and roofing crew who spent a very hot day removing the old and installing the new roof. We did think the sell was a little hard but it was clear to us that their name, reputation and high quality of work means everything and Power was willing to do what needed to be done for us to be happy with the service provided. The yard was well cleaned of nails and debris, the crew was friendly and took the time to show us the areas where we had damage, how they were going to fix it for the new roof to prevent further damage. We are very happy with the work, will recommend them in the future and plan to contact Power for quotes on future work.

Power Home Remodeling Group (PHRG) has continuously shirked their duties to give a professional product as promised. They were to install a new front door. The 1st crew was unable to install the handle of the door stating it was the wrong kind. They put holes in the frame of the door by using the wrong setting on their nail gun and then used non-matching paint to try and fix it. They used dirty hands to seal the caulking job on the inside of the door frame so permanent finger print smudges were visible. They broke my doorbell and left it hanging out. Also, the frame itself didn't fit the hole for the door and thus exposed the interior of my house(insulation/studs). They were originally going to leave it; I made them seal the door. The only thing they had was clear silicone. Its horrible but at least the bugs won't get it in. The project manager at the time (Brad) would not return our phone calls. When he finally did we made an appt for him to come out. He didn’t show. He didn't answer the phone. The 2nd install crew came & didn't have any of the right equipment. He then asked if WE wanted to go to Lowes to get the right equipment for him. We then started dealing with the warranty dept. (Ryan) who apparently hasn't been documenting any of the issues in the file. We had a 3rd crew come out who also didn't have the right equip. for the frame and then they said the handle was wrong. I read the directions, turned a switch to make the handle work. None of the crews knew the door handle was universal?! They still couldn't fix the framing. We have a new manager, Wayne. We were to see the new crew with a solution for the door 2 weeks ago. 1 day before the crew was to arrive Ryan calls to say the door company they use has decided to abandon our issue so PHRG itself is supposed to fix this. They were to arrive today between 8-10. I waited till 1115, no show. I've called and am now dealing with Bryan and they can't find the crew. I'm already making payments when they claim they only charge when the work is done. Its not done.

Both installations went smoothly until the hurricane Irene damage was exposed when the old siding was removed. PHR did not repair the damage, however, after the repairs were complete PHR was back the next day to complete the job.
Description of Work: The service I received from Power Home Remodeling (PHR) was exceptional. From the moment the sales person came into my home until the last workman left, the information and attention we were provided was fantastic. When the crew showed up to install the windows, they were ready to work. They were prepared to deal with all of our needs and work efficiently and wasn't too much of an inconvenience while inside the house. The crew that installed the siding was punctual and prepared to work. Both crews were very nice and answered all of my young son's questions. A day before the job was completed, my husband and I prepared a punch list of items that needed to be done for the jobs to meet our satisfaction. The project manager reviewed the list with us and completed all of the tasks requested without any questions or disputes. Both crews worked very long hours to get the jobs done in as little impact on our lives as possible. The dramatic change in my house is recommendation enough.

Ultimately, they did a pretty descent job but they did not live up to their promise in terms of cleanup. They made a lot of statements about how conscientious their crew was and we were underwhelmed with some aspects of it. But the job itself so far, seems to have been done well.

The salesperson was very nice and good. The staff that installed our windows were very unprofessional, dirty and rude. They replaced our windows and put up the wrong color trim. They had to come another day to replace the trim with a new color that we had previously agreed on. The trim is wide and they didn't know how to affix the trim to the window under the soffet, so they left it cut and flapping out and said it looked good to them. It looked broken. Eventually we instructed them to box the look, fold the trim up on itself (plastic trim) and make it look like a box between the soffet and window. It looks better, but I've never seen another window look like that. It works though. The french door was not lined up right and they had to come back and fix that as well. The windows are nice, they condense with weather changes and the screens fall out. The person I spoke to on the phone told me that I probably have ghosts that are removing my screens because he's never heard of them falling out before. The person who came over was able to fix this. The people were dirty and didn't really understand me. The trim of the windows is still uneven and has waves to the appearance. It looks cheap. They also left a mess with all the drywall, insulation and trimming cuts- all over the house and yard.
Description of Work: We had french door and all windows in our house replaced with new windows and trim. This was back when they were still power windows and siding, central NJ. *My apologies, I had the incorrect date of the installation noted before*

I can believe how good my house looks now! Sam, my project manager was great, we did a walk around after everyday and he promptly addressed and corrected any concerns that I had. The workers were very professional and hard working. They were not only concerned about doing their work correctly but made sure not to damage anything on my property and cleaned up daily. I will say that Power Home Remodeling Group charges slightly more but it is worth it. You get what you pay for, I will be using PHRG again! The house looks brand new!

I,too, had a representative knock on my door to offer a free estimate. I was in the midst of preparing dinner, and he was very persistent. I scheduled an estimate for the next evening, but after reading reviews here decided against it and cancelled. I am not a fan of high pressure sales, and could tell that this is where I was headed. If a company is as excellent as it claims, they really shouldn't have to go door to door looking for customers. The best contractors can be found by word of mouth, and they do not solicit.

You had one of our representatives knock on your door because we just finished installing a project for one of your neighbors. If you'd like to learn about the quality of the work we do, we encourage you to ask your neighbors about their experience and take a look at their house. We feel you'll be pleasantly surprised. As you said, we find that - along with word of mouth - the quality of our work is the best sales approach. If you do great work consistently, a reputation will be developed and trust will be earned. Along with our lifetime warranty, this is one of the reasons why we have such a large percentage of repeat customers and referrals. I'd invite you to not judge a book by it's cover in this instance and, if you're in the market for a remodeling project, to give us a second look. In fact, you can find hundreds of reviews across the internet from satisfied customers who have trusted us with their remodeling projects.

For over three years I have had windows and sliding glass door installed by Power Homes Remodeling. This time it was for windows in my dining room and family room. Three window each. I always ask for Milos as he was the person who first came to install my windows in 2009. Milos and his colleague, Jason, arrived and, of course, got right to work. The team was very professional and easy-going. They really worked well together. I truly appreciate craftmanship and Milos and Jason has that covered in spades. They always patiently answered my questions and helped me with the window operation after installation. Milos repaired the screen on another window I had had installed last year while I watched and learned a few more things about these windows. I spoke to the "Boss" over the phone after the work was done and he had me assure him I was satisfied while Milos and Jaso n were still on-site. I checked the windows inside and out and all was done not only to my satisfaction but to Milos' and Jason's high standards as well. Plus they cleaned up afterwards. Great Team! Great Job!! Thanks, fellas!!

I'm satisfied. Overall, I would rate their service as "C". I ran into a small difficulty with them but worked it out. But I think I was in an unusual case so I would recommend somebody. I would recommend them to somebody else with caution that is why I gave them a "C". The reason I said with caution is because they come in very strong with their sales speech.

I just had a living room window replaced by Power Home Remodeling Group, and I am so pleased with the outcome. The price was pretty good and the salesman worked with us and gave us his honest opinion, which we took to heart and listen since we felt it was genuine. The experience with the staff, starting with the initial salesman and ending with the installers was excellent. The installers Norbert and Paul, were so polite and professional. They arrived on time and started workiing immediately. I sat nearby and watched them work so fast and like true experts. I felt comfortable talking with them and they were willing to answer any questions I may have and did it with a smile. I would not hesitate to hire them again for my other projects. We plan on replacing two entrance doors and will be getting it from PHRG. We recommend them to everyone including family and friends. It was a job well done.

There was a project manager assigned to my project who came out a couple of weeks before the job to double check all measurements & explain the process, answer questions. etc. I was also able to have some color changes at this point. They started the day they promised, the same crew of 3 and a helper showed up every day, and worked hard all day (I watched them after I got home from work.) They cleaned up at the end of every day, and paid attention to any details I pointed out. They started on a Monday and were finished by the next Saturday morning. The crew acted professionally and seemed to be very skilled, they took extra care to avoid trampling my flower beds. The project manager contacted me every morning and afternoon to see if there were any questions or concerns, and stopped by from time to time I suppose, as I was at work myself all week. The workers were there pretty much till sunset, though. They did a great job trimming all the windows and doors, I haven't seen anything that concerned me.Their gutter guard system is a screen inset near the top that look like they will become less an eyesore than my previous gutterguards that would look very dirty as the water ran over them and left dark streaks. We'll see over time how well this works. There was a set of shutters that were backordered due to the unusual size, it took a couple of weeks before they were installed. I did have to call after a week to make sure they didn't forget me. They had just arrived the day after Memorial Day. They were installed the following Saturday.I should also mention that the salesman did a great job, showed me the benefits and quality of the materials they use, from their superwhamadyne breathable house wrap to the foam-backed insect and UV resistant siding (with a double lifetime guarantee.) The guarantee wouldn't mean as much if this was "two guys and a pickup truck", but this is a big established company that works the whole northeast US, at least. I ran across them at a home-show in Hartford.
Description of Work: Replaced old wood siding with vinyl, replaced old gutters with new (with leaf protection).

Someone came to our door and my wife told him that she was interested in getting an estimate on a new bay window. So we received a call that someone would be coming next week to get us the estimate. The gentlemen showed up a bit late but that was okay. He did call to let us know that however. When he came in he looked at the window and took a few measurements. We wanted an estimate on two bay windows and that took about 15 minutes. So far so good. Then came the consultation. He explained absolutely everything about that window. I don't mind that, after all you should know as much as possible about what you're buying but it might have been a good idea if he had told me it would take about 2.5 hours. By the time we were done he had convinced us to buy a bay window for our front door. The price was a bit steep but he gave us a nice rate since we had to finance the purchase. They scheduled the installation to our likingbut they had to cancel and reschedule. It wasn't a problem, they rescheduled us a few days later. The day of installation we received a phone call from our project manager that told us we can call him if there were any problems or we had any questions. This was very comforting. The contractors came in and got right to work. They worked for about 4 hours. There was a problem with edge around our window. The middle bowed down on top so the molding didn't quite cover the entire opening at the edges. The contractor decided to get a piece of wood to slap up there. This may have been okay if he had bought molding that was the same thickness as the existing molding but it was at least an inch and a half thinner. An inspector came by later and was not happy with the quick fix. He tried to get us someone out soon but that didn't pan out. We then decided that we would just spackle it ourselves and repaint. We had to paint the molding anyway so it wasn't too inconvenient. I want to say that as far as the window itself, it was great. It looked just like we thought it would and it was installed properly and looked great. One more thing. When we got the monthly bill for our window from Wells Fargo we noticed that we did not get the correct finance rate that I had mentioned earlier. We called Power Home Remodeling and they acknowledged the mistake and said they would take care of it. We haven't received the second bill yet but we were assured it would be taken care of.

The initial sales call was long, and definitely a hard sell; but in the end we got a deal that worked for us and knewwhat we were getting was an excellent product. The salesman was knowledgeable and friendly. He worked hard to figure out what we wanted and match that to what we could afford. The installers did a great job. They were efficient, polite, and cleaned up their mess. The windows are the best part though. Not only are the beautiful but they've saved us a ton. Our energy bills are half of what they were before installing these. We really couldn't have asked for a better experience!

They did a wonderful job for us. They are very clean. They are real stand up people. They put in new central air, and heating system. They installed a new hot water heater. They ran new duct work. They took the old stuff out, the old oil tank, all the old piping, and the old radiators. They cleaned up after themselves. I got a contract with them to service it. They were very professional. They were not the cheapest, but they delivered on everything they promised. We financed it through them, it is currently paid off. I cannot say enough good things about them.
Description of Work: They installed a new heating, and air conditioning system.
