Marty, our designer/planner was very helpful in creating the perfect kitchen and bathroom layout. We are incredibly happy with the results! Others may complain that you are limited to Patete's showroom items, but we brought up several design ideas and they always had the perfect item. The contracting team (a father and his sons) were polite, courteous, and worked very fast with amazing results. Was completed on time and on budget. I would trust Patete to do any remodeling project.
Description of Work: Patete designed and installed a new kitchen and adjoining powder room. Completely removed all old cabinets, appliances and fixtures. Subcontracted plumber and electricians (both were very good). Removed old wall that separated kitchen/bath and replaced with new wall and pocket door in better location. Beautiful Italian cabinets installed (see pictures, but know that we had not painted the walls and trim yet). Granite countertops. Tile floor and backsplash. New recessed lighting.

I believe the name of the man who did the work was Nick and he showed up on time and put down drop cloths before he started. He did all the work himself. Normally he says it takes most people about 2 days to do this work and when we got other estimates 2-3 days was the norm for this kind of work. He did all the work in one day. He was very professional and watched out to make sure our 2 cats did not escape the house when he was going in and out. He cleaned up when he was done, explained some things about the product and work and answered any questions we asked him.
Description of Work: Ken Kayser was the salesman who came to our house and gave us the bid and explained the product. He was very nice and knowledgeable about the product. This was his second time here because we got a bid the year before but were not ready till now. He gave us the price without any pressure about how we could save more money if we made a decision that day. He did not try to up charge on any additional items. We got the tub liner, walls, fixtures and we also got the curved shower rod, 2 shelving units(4 shelves apiece) and one grab bar. They estimated about 6 weeks from when we put the deposit down but called in about 2 weeks and scheduled earlier.

The design team at Patete's Carnegie showroom did a great job walking us through all of our options and were VERY helpful when we had to rework some fixture selections to keep costs in a desired range. The actual work was done well and professionally. The workers were respectful of our home and were courteous and neat. They cleaned up each day and made some special accommodations to keep the dust under control during the demolition phase. The bathroom looks great and the installation was nearly flawless. My only complaint would be that the floor tiles were not perfectly level, causing a small extra opening between the front of the base of the toilet and the floor. But, some would say I am being too picky. Patete charged a pretty high price, and generally provided a high level of service and quality work.
Description of Work: Complete remodeling of first floor powder room, from design to demolition to completion. The work included removal of old "mud job" tile work, floor, toilet, medicine cabinet and sink. Replaced with new wallboard, new woodwork, new floor, toilet, sink, medicine cabinet, painted walls and woodwork.

Patete is very professional. They have a great showroom and a well educated staff. They make the design process about as easy as could be. Did feel somewhat patronized in the design process, as their design was a significant change from the original kitchen. Whenever we would suggest alternatives the answer was "we can do anything you want" but the subliminal message was you'd be a fool to change our design. Estimated cost was $40,000.

IT IS VERY INTERESTING THAT SOMEONE WHO DID NOT HAVE THE WORK DONE AND RATED EVERYTHING AS NO LOWER THAN A B CAN GIVE AN OVERALL GRADE AS C. THIS PERSON WAS GIVEN EVERY CHANCE TO CHANGE OR ALTER THE DESIGN AND DECIDED NOT TO. THEY WERE ALSO GIVEN THE ASSISTANCE OF A PROFESSIONAL INTERIOR DESIGNER AT NO CHARGE TO HELP WITH ALL THE SELECTIONS. ALL OF THESE SERVICES WERE FREE OF CHARGE. CUSTOMER SERVICE AND MAKING SURE THE CUSTOMER IS GETTING THE KITCHEN OR BATH THAT FITS THEIR LIFESTYLE IS OUR # 1 GOAL.

They were very well organized with their things and they did the job well. The owner oversees everything and knows when the next person has to come in. That is why I say that they were very well organized.
Description of Work: They did the remodeling work in our bathroom. They subcontracted people for the electric and painting work. It took them 3 weeks to finish. The area is approximately 9 by 7 foot. They did the tiles as well. They took everything out, hammered the whole thing down and then put everything back in. All the things in the bathroom were bought brand new. They basically did everything.

They subcontract the work. Patete then assigns one of their job coordinators to handle your project who is then your contact person from there on out. There were problems and we could not get our assigned Patete coordinator to call us back and update us throughout the process which turned the entire job into a complete headache. (Wrong product was ordered and installed, not enough product was ordered to complete the job, sub contractor was not installing work the way we initially agreed Patete would do it, you have to be present and make sure all is going right because no one from Patete meets the workers at the job site or comes out afterwards to check their work). We called numerous times and left messages with no response over the course of several days. Matters did eventually get worked out and we are happy with the way it looks however we are not sure if we will use them again due to bizarre communication issues.

Patete was expensive and they do not itemize their invoices. However, they did a professional job and the kitchen looks beautiful. We had a couple minor requests after the kitchen was finished, such as extra knobs and pulls and for them to fix a loose drawer knob, and they responded quickly. We felt that it was well worth the cost for the peace of mind that they would do an excellent job, and we weren't disappointed. The staff was professional and courteous. They work hard to make sure the customer is happy and have a great reputation. We would use them again.
Description of Work: Patete installed our kitchen cabinets and did the plumbing to install a dishwasher and a refrigerator with a water dispenser. They also referred us to the company who refinished the hardwood floor and referred us to a granite company for the countertops, which we got at cost. They also helped us design the layout of the kitchen. We painted.

The project went very well. It took five days. It started with our visit to the showroom where we made an appointment with Jay the salesman to come to our home. He came and took measurements and also brought samples from which we chose the color of the acrylic bathtub surround. We made another appointment to visit Patete Kitchen & Bath Design Center where we selected the items related to the rest of the bathroom. This required two appointments. So we didn't get our estimate until after the end of the second appointment. Upon our agreeing to the estimate, we mailed a check for 50% of the cost. The project manager came to the house for final measurements and told me that our order would be between eight to ten weeks. The order actually came in after twelve weeks; Jay said one of the items for the powder room had been on back order and they only start jobs after the entire order has arrived. The workers arrived promptly each day and worked diligently. The bathroom looks great.
Description of Work: Bathroom remodeling. The original cast iron bath tub was covered with an acrylic liner as well as the surrounding walls up the the ceiling. Prior to the application of the acrylic liner, the old ceramic tiles had to be removed as well as the old drywall which had been damaged by water leakage. New drywall was installed as well as a new Delta faucet, shower head and caddy, two grab bars and shower curtain bar. We had the same acrylic material applied to the ceramic tile on the walls in the rest of the room. This covered approximately four feet around. A new toilet and custom made wooden vanity were installed. Repairs to plumbing were made as both toilet and sink had been leaking prior to the project. Also a vinyl floor was laid over the old tile floor. Also, a new toilet and custom made vanity were installed in the downstairs powder room.

Overall we were quite pleased with the job. The showroom made it easy to pick out everything we needed and the design consultant helped steer us in the right direction. The actual job took a week longer than expected. Also the toilet had to be installed several weeks later due to a crack in the first toilet, but they gave us a temporary one while it was being ordered so that we could have a working bathroom. They were very attentive to detail, and the carpenters Jeff and Mike were very polite and friendly. They also cleaned up after themselves each day.

We found this company to be very responsive to our concerns throughout the entire project. All subcontractors were polite, on time and thorough. When there was a problem, we dealt with the project manager who got the matter resolved to our liking. Communication was excellent. The price to remodel a kitchen may not be the cheapest with this company, but the work is professional and timely. The only complaint I'd have is that sometimes they scheduled different contractors (plumber same day as the ceramic tile contractor) to get the job completed faster. They got in each other's way and it was frustrating for them. As a result, the tile contractor had to come back to redo some of his work. Electric was last step so tile contractor couldn't see well during his work.
Description of Work: Kitchen was totally gutted and remodeled. Total design change. New cabinets, new flooring, new countertops, new lighting fixtures. Plumbing was included in the price quoted. Electric and granite counter tops were separately billed by the specific companies. Painting was additional but included in the price as we specified we wanted that service as well. Ceramic tile backsplash was done as well and included in the price quoted.

Treatment by the planner at the showroom was rude and contemptuous. After beginning our meeting by saying he wasn't doing his job if his proposals didn't meet my needs and desires, he finished by saying my idea for the kitchen would ''look like garbage.'' Asked me what my husband does for a living! (Excuse me, what century is this?) Did a very bland and uninspired computer picture of a bathroom, then designer rushed me around the showroom to pick things out. You have to buy their stuff. Designer admitted that their cabinets drive everything else (why do the sinks have to be so close to the walls? Because of the cabinets we have.) Flatly refused to propose a kitchen design unless I agreed the appliances/fixtures could all be moved around (my layout works great just the way it is.) I've since learned that my experience here was not unique. Maybe this company will only do $100,000 kitchens for women who want a man to tell them what they should want. Oh, and who have highly-paid husband
Description of Work: Designer came to see 2 bathrooms and kitchen for complete remodeling; measured and discussed possibilities, indicating I would be called into showroom to see their proposals. Within a few weeks that happened, and that's where the attitude of this company became apparent.

The work was performed well, but with some delays (damaged goods and misordered cabinets that had to be replaced; finishing details not completed until about 4 weeks after promised finishing date). The design was incomplete, making it necessary to make placement decisions for light fixtures and accent tile on site, last minute without designer's input. In sum, I feel as though I sought out a 5- star restaurant, paid a 5-star price and got a good 3-star meal. If you use Patete, insist on detailed drawings of finished room with specific measurements. Have these reviewed by licensed architect or have alternate design done by architect before deciding to go with Patete. Also check with other showrooms for more design choices.

COMPANY USES SUBCONTRACTOR TO PERFORM WORK (E.G. DEMOLITION, CONSTRUCTION, ELECTRICAL AND PLUMBING). THE DESIGN WORK IS OUTSTANDING. THE WORK OF MOST SUBCONTRACTORS IS GOOD. AFTER PLACING ORDER, SALES REP. WAS VERY UNCOOPERATIVE. WAS TOLD IT WOULD TAKE 6-8 WEEKS FOR VANITY TO COME IN. INITIALLY TOOK 11 WEEKS. MORNING IT WAS TO BE INSTALLED, THEY CALLED 1 HOUR BEFORE THE SCHEDULED TIME TO TELL ME THAT VANITY WAS NOT AS I ORDERED. TOOK 3 MORE WEEKS TO HAVE CORRECT ONE SHIPPED. INSTALLERS WERE COURTEOUS AND FRIENDLY. AFTER THEY LEFT I TURNED ON WATER/ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE DRAIN. WOULD NOT CLOSE. HANDLE KEPT FALLING DOWN. LOOKED UNDER VANITY AND THERE WAS FAST LEAK WHERE PLUMBING HAD BEEN DONE. ALSO NOTICED ON RIGHT FAUCET THERE WAS A 1/4" GAP WHERE FAUCET SHOULD HAVE MET THE VANITY. WHEN MY HUSBAND DISCOVERED THERE WAS A MISSING PART FOR THE HANDLE-DRAIN, I FOUND IT ON THE DRIVEWAY WHERE THEY UNLOADED & HE FIXED THE DRAIN. BECAUSE I NEEDED TO USE MY SINK IMMEDIATELY, MY HUSBAND RE-DID THE PLUMBING UNDER THE SINK TO CORRECT THE LEAKING PIPE. DOOR TRIM HAD UNFILLED NAIL HOLES. THIS VANITY AND INSTALLATION WAS DEFINITELY OVERPRICED.
