Fabulously!! My wife and I have used Patete Kitchen and Bath Design for over 30 years. During that time, we have had two bathrooms and our kitchen completely remodeled. The professionalism and expertise of Patete's work staff is first rate. They are perfectionists when it comes to detail, and they get the job done right....the first and only time. Recently, we noticed that our kitchen refrigerator was getting old and needed to be replaced. The problem was that a shelf in a cabinet that was installed nearly 25 years ago was too low for a new refrigerator that we wanted to buy to replace our old refrigerator. We called Patete, explained the problem, and within a short period of time, Wayne came out to look at the cabinet to see if it could be modified to enable a new, taller refrigerator to fit the space. About a week and a half later Keith came to our home to remove the cabinet and take it back to Patete's cabinet shop to be modified. In fact, when we saw Keith, he remembered working on our kitchen all those years ago. A few weeks later, I again spoke with Wayne, and he told me that the cabinet modification was complete and that Keith would contact us and reinstall the cabinet. Sure enough, on schedule, Keith arrived and within an hour, he installed the new, modified cabinet, and it was a perfect fit above our new refrigerator. Both Wayne and Keith have been members of the Patete team of craft experts for decades, and their wealth of experience showed on this job. Hats off to Steve Erenrich for his help in making the purchase and installation of our new refrigerator a reality and a pleasant experience.

I am very sorry that you did not get an immediate response to your inquiry. We checked records and saw that you called in and tried to call you back. You never answered or responded to our calls. It is obvious that you were disconnected by accident. Not quite sure have your response rated this very bad review when you have never spoken to anyone from our company. Again we are very sorry for the confusion but know that this is not an example of our customer service as you can see from all the people who have given us A ratings for reviews below.

Patete Kitchens & Bath Design Center came out and fixed the shower handle. They also showed me how to fix it if it happens in the future. They did not charge me for the service at all. They are very easy to work with. I would use them again and recommend their service to anyone.

I left a message on their website, it took them two days to get back to me. I was told that I had to wait over a week for someone to come out and estimate the job. In the course of the conversation the woman (who was very professional) mentioned that they only do full kitchen remodels, including cabinetry - so if you don't want cabinetry replaced that cannot help you. Also, they do not do appliances. Not sure how you can call yourself a kitchen remodeling company if you don't do kitchen appliances.

All I wanted was to replace existing kitchen cabinets which I said upfront. That is not the way Petite works. They not only want to gut out your existing kitchen but also want you to replace existing appliances and tile floor in the kitchen. I would need to even purchase a new microwave. I have a huge kitchen and they told me there was not enough room for a table that would seat six people. I had dinners in previous years with ten people at the table. If you want your kitchen completely gutted out and spend $30,0000 then Petite may be for you. Otherwise do not waste your time. From the sounds of it Petite designs by their plans not yours. It was NOT a company I enjoyed dealing with and that was only dealing with their sales force and Barry co-owner of the company. Beware of the price. If they find other work that needs to be done you will need to have that done before they finish the job, such as electrical, plumbing, etc. I would think their experts would do a complete evaluation and include everything up front in the initial cost. Update 9-28-17 - Response to Patete My comments in regard to my cabinet project are all true. I only wanted kitchen cabinets. I did schedule to go out to Petite to see their kitchen designs to get some ideas on the cabinets and counters. I decided since I knew Petite would not get any business from me to cancel the appointment. That was the ethical thing to do. The response from Petite is not only ridiculous but rude. I paid no money to Petite so what would I be entitled to? If Petite is this rude to someone who wanted an estimate can you imagine having a complaint about their work and wanting money back or work redone? The proper response would have been either nothing or Petite to respond that they misunderstood the initial request. I was told that the person who confirmed that Petite would replace cabinets was new and did not realize they only did complete kitchen remodeling. Is this a company you want to do business with? I was not even a customer since they did not do any work. It is obvious Petite thinks they are too good to hear what went wrong. A lot of companies have gone under by not listening to potential customers as well as customers. The remarks about me getting money back from companies was a general conversation in regard to a defective furnace, six defective tires, a very poorly designed driveway that started at a $15,000 price and ended at $40,000.

This is one of the most unreasonable customers we have had in my 40 years in this business. When Mark who was at her home came back to the office he told one of our people to call her and set a showroom appointment for her to come in and make selections so we could quote her project. She we very nasty to our employee on the phone and even said something about talking to the owner so she could see what she could get for nothing because that is what she had done at a tire store and a car dealer by complaining. She was called back by Barry and was demanding compensation for nothing. We never gave her an estimate and everything in her report is false. She is the type of person who tries to get something for nothing and take advantage of people by threatening them. I am sorry we could not help her or meet her expectations. We have letters from over 1700 customers in our showroom that are thrilled with our service as well as Angie's list members who we actually did work for that are thrilled with our services. It is a shame that Angie's list published bogus reviews like this without researching them. His lady is actually a con artist who tries to get something for nothing from businesses. The job was completed on schedule. 12 years out, I'm still discovering details that were omitted or otherwise forgotten by contractors. I'll look elsewhere when I'm ready to do it all over again.
Description of Work: We had a total kitchen remodel/renovation. I am STILL finding things they did wrong and not according to plans. My granite counter was supposed to include a 4" high same-granite backsplash. Not there! Prior to the renovation, my husband & son had very carefully mapped and labeled our electric junction box in the basement. Every circuit and what was connected to it. I now have a different electrician doing some updating in my home and he told me that the junction box labels are all wrong ... wiring was moved for new kitchen appliances & lighting and the labels were not updated. My husband and I continue to be disappointed with the work done by Patete. We would never hire them again and certainly can't recommend them.

I am very sorry for the confusion. I have pulled the job folder to check for correctness of this complaint because it does not make sense to me. Doing the research I have found that the work was done correctly. She paid Unity Marble and Granite direct for the counter top and not Patete Kitchen & Bath, which as per the selection sheet signed and approved by this customer there is an 18" high ceramic tile back splash installed above the counter top and should not have been a 4" splash in granite above it. We certainly would never design a project with a 4" granite back splash and then ceramic tile above it. She also paid Nick's Electrical Inc. for the electrical work and not Patete. The most confusing part of this is in checking our service records and all of our files there has never been a service call or complaint to bring any issues to our attention so we might have been able to rectify any situation that may have arisen in the project had we been notified. Please understand we take pride in making sure our customers are completely satisfied with our work and had anything been brought to our attention we would have addressed it. It is curious that after 12 years of no contact with this customer that all of a sudden we did not complete the work as contracted. This does not happen at Patete. All of the work was done properly. Had anything been addressed with us we would have done what ever was necessary to correct the issues. Please accept my personal apology for any misunderstanding in this matte. We have checked our records and we saw the [Member Name Removed]'s in 2007 for their estimate. This is over 10 years ago. Why complain about an estimate you got 10 years ago? The representative that was there has been deceased for over 5 years and I can't ask him what happened. I am very confused as to why someone would write a review about an estimate that the got over 10 years ago and complain about the price. This makes no sense but in any event we apologize for any miscommunication. Steve Erenrich President

We drove over to where ever they are located across town. Their own, who you see in the television ads, and his assistant, and he was very nice and personable. He said "We'll get you whatever you want, ok?" Well, I want Swanstone. "Well, we think we have something better. We have a product that is exclusive to our company, and we think it's better. And we have this, and this, and this." We were out there an hour, my husband and I. My husband asked him "How much do you think this will cost?" And he gave me very high quote, verbally. I started looking at things and said "I can't pick this all today. I have a fixture I already saw at another place". He said, "You have to buy everything from us." I said, "Well, I can't do that because I don't know what I want today. I have to make another appointment." So, we did make another appointment, but at that point, I realized I'm not buying everything from this place. They said they were going to give me everything I wanted and then they did not. They did not full through with it. Now, it's we have to get everything here and this product is better. I walked around the showroom and I didn't see anything that I wanted. So, I said "Forget this." And I hired someone else that was recommended. I had to buy everything through them and I didn't want to do that. I didn't like some of the supplies that they had available. They were professional, they just didn't have what I wanted. They were on-time when we got there.

I am very confused at this review. This customer was in our showroom for 2 appointments the last one being July of 2016. They never came back after working with our interior design staff for a price. I'm not sure how they feel the price was too high when we after checking our records never figured out a price or gave them a proposal. Then out of the blue 8 months later they write a review that says our price was too high. There is something very fishy here but we apologize if there was some kind of misunderstanding. If there is something that we could do to answer any questions we would be very happy to help. Sorry again but we don't know what to say since we never gave them a price. Steve Erenrich President

Excellent! Perfection in all aspects - design and measurements, demo, installation, timeliness/scheduling, customer service contact, warranty in work. Pricey, but absolutely worth it for peace of mind. All workers were very professional and very skilled in their craft to create a beautiful kitchen. I set an appointment to have someone come to my house to give me an estimate and discuss options for both bathrooms so that I can make a decision on which one I would go with if I couldn't afford to do both. The guy that came to my house was nice enough but a bit "salesy." After looking over both bathrooms and taking measurements, he left to put together a design and I was to make an appointment to come see and choose the colors and items. When I arrived for that appointment, I found that they had designed only my smaller upstairs bathroom and not both of them. Looking back, I believe this is fully because they chose the one that would be more expensive to do. I wanted to choose which one, not them. Anyway, I put this aside and went through the process because I still wanted an estimate from them. I chose middle of the road cost items to help keep the cost down. When I was presented my final estimate it was $21,000. I was in shock. For a company that stresses affordability and saving the customer money, this blew my mind. They then stated that because of the items I chose, I earned some discounts and that I was going to save money. My "discounts" brought me down to roughly $19,000. I received multiple other estimates and they were so far above every single one of them. I have since chosen a someone else to do both of my bathrooms and I'm paying a bit over my Patete estimate and they are doing both.

This was a terrible experience. I drove by this company numerous times and have seen their ads, so I always wanted to stop in the showroom. So during a vacation day, while running numerous errands, I decided to stop in. Unfortunately, I was treated like I was unwelcome. Instead of asking how to help or assist me, the lady that approached me asked if I had an appointment and made me feel that I shouldn't be there without one. I explained that I was planning to remodel a small bathroom and was hoping to look at some of the products and possibly make an appointment for an estimate. Instead of showing me around the showroom, she said I'd have to first make an appointment for someone to come to my house and take measurements and then I could meet with someone to show me the products. So, I did make an appointment, and someone did come to my house for measurements, but I felt like it was my status & finances being measured instead of the bathroom. A few days later, I attended an appointment with the owner and designer who were supposed to assist me in choosing products, but we never got that far. Instead, the owner asked me how much I wanted to pay, and of course I started low and said about $6K. He looked at me like I was crazy and told me that I wouldn't be able to have anything done for less than $12K. Now, you have to know that my bathroom is quite small and although I was willing to go higher, I was not going to go that high for such a small space. I also told him I had an entire bathroom installed in my basement for less than that. He asked who did the install just so that he could insult them and me by insisting that the bathroom was illegal - which is certainly is not. I told him that it was installed by a family friend who did a great job and who I would hire again except that he passed away. He was a master plumber and a good man that didn't deserve to be insulted. And neither did I. So I walked out. I then got several more estimates ranging from $7k - $9k. All were much lower and the people I dealt with were much more friendly. I decided to go with a company that was mid-priced and I am so happy I did because they did a great job and I saved $4k that I can put towards my next job - which will be a new kitchen. And now I know who to hire - and who NOT to hire. I work too hard for my money to waste it on a company that treats people with so little respect.

I am sorry for the way this seemed to go down. Unfortunately this story is being told from one persons perspective. When people come into our showroom they either already have an appointment to work with one of our designers after someone has already been to their house or the are a walk in and want to look around. It seems that Ms. [Member Name Removed] got the wrong impression when our person asked if she had an appointment because if she had an appointment to work with someone she was being asked so we could go get the person she was supposed to work with. There is nothing malicious about this we are only trying to help the people with the situation and why they came into the showroom. The person who went to her home is one of the kindest must unassuming people that I know and he has worked here for over 20 years and this is the very first complaint about how he acted in the house. He has a reputation of giving customers recipes or even bringing back plantings from his own garden for customers. He is pretty much beloved by everyone who meets him. He never asks about money. As for the encounter in the showroom with me I apologize if I upset her but I was only asking for an investment figure so we could show her the appropriate materials to fit her budget. She seemed to take offense at this. When talking about her downstairs bathroom she completely took the conversation out of context. I asked the interior designer that was sitting in on the meeting if she felt I did anything wrong to which she said she thought Ms. [Member Name Removed] was having a bad day. I feel she walked in here with a bad attitude about our place before we even started. It should be noted that we pride ourselves in giving the best possible customer service in the industry. We have a book on the from counter with over 1500 letters from customers that rave about the Patete people and the Patete service. Again I apologize that we were not a fit for Ms. [Member Name Removed] and wish her well in future remodeling projects.

This was an excellent experience from beginning to end. The work started on time and finished in the two weeks we had been told it would take. We were amazed that the work was completed on time and that there were no over-charges. There were two glitches at the end-we discovered that we needed one more towel bar for our hand towels and the make-up mirror we had requested had never made it into the plan, but as soon as we talked to Jack, our main contractor, everything was taken care of. Jack even came in on a Saturday to finish up a few things that needed completing. We had our kitchen redone six years ago and we wish we had used Pateete for that, There probably would have been fewer headaches.

Very slow and needed to be ripped out and started over. Overall, very disappointed.
Description of Work: we needed a bathroom floor replaced after a minor flood from a waterline leak. Since the shower was a 21 year old one piece stall, we decided to have that replaced also. After hesitation from sticker shock for a partial bath remodel, we went with them because of the length of time they have been in business. The start date that was promised was delayed by over a month and when the job did start, there was only one man here to to all of the demolition and tiling of the floor and shower. He was a sub- contractor who knew very little about the people that work in the showroom. His skills were below average and he wasted a lot of tile with all of his bad cuts. Long story short, the job went from one week to three. Being handicapped, this was stressful for me. Also one last word. The electricians had to return because the fan was wired wrong. A true waste of my time and money. Every time I step into my shower, I'm reminded of the bad cuts in the tile where the corners don't line up.There are a lot of great remodeling companies out there. I'd suggest that you search elsewhere.

Patete is frankly higher priced than a lot of other kitchen providers (we did shop around), but they really did an extraordinary job and they did it quickly--five weeks start to finish to completely replace a kitchen. Our previous kitchen had been installed by a general contractor in the 90s and never really functioned quite right, but the one designed and installed by Patete was very functional, including not just what I knew I wanted--two ovens and a cabinet for my Kitchen-Aid mixer--but also features I didn't know I wanted such as a narrow drawer for utensils under the stove top and extra large sinks. When you add in the price of appliances and sundries, we put about $45,000 into the kitchen. I would do it again in a moment. You get what you pay for and here you're paying for a well-designed kitchen installed professionally and quickly.

A Patete rep came to my home to take measurements and review what I wanted done. I repeatedly said that I just wanted to do basics since this was a spare bathroom; I wanted it to look nice but not master bathroom look. The rep was very nice and seemed to take detailed measurements and pictures. Before he left, he made an appointment for me to go to their showroom to make fixtures selections and I thought to get a price estimate. The first time I went to the showroom, I was shown a drawing depicting the completed bathroom and met the designer who was very nice and made good suggestions. But she could not tell me the price of anything I selected so I did not know if there were any less expensive options. I again said a couple of times that I did not want to go overboard for a spare bathroom. After making all the selections, I was told I had to come to the showroom again to actually get the estimate. I was traveling from the North Hills to Carnegie so this was quite an inconvenience but I agreed. On the second visit, the rep insisted on taking me on a tour of the facility before reviewing the estimate with me. When he finally presented it to me, the final price was covered up which another reviewer noted as well; I thought this was rather childish. The estimate was completely outrageous. I asked for some breakdown so I could see if there was anything I could change to bring the cost down. The rep refused saying that there was nothing that could be done to make much difference. He just kept saying that if I wanted the bathroom done right that was the cost. He also said that included Patete coming out to remedy anything for as long as I lived in the house. But if the bathroom is done right, they shouldn't need to come out again, right? I left Patete very disappointed that they would not work with me at all. I never received a follow up call; probably because he knew I was not going to spend $20k on a spare bathroom. I subsequently used another contractor who did a beautiful job for about half of the Patete estimate. One change he made was putting in a tub/shower combination instead of just a shower stall with door which reduced the cost quite a bit. He also suggested some other changes that further saved me some money. Why couldn't Patete make any suggestions like this?
Description of Work: I wanted to install a bathroom in my lower level. The builder had installed the plumbing rough ins when the house was built. Patete was one of the contractors I contacted for estimates.

Do I like my new bathroom? Yes. It is lovely and so much better than I had. Was it worth what I paid for it? Absolutely not. I expected to pay a little more going with Patete than I would another contractor for my bathroom remodel. I was convinced that going with such an established business was worth a little extra. I will admit--I was a little nervous when I saw the initial designs for our bathroom during our first onsite meeting at Patete. The design wasn't really what we had discussed when the designer had come out to our house to take measurements. He had added shower doors and a super expensive wall which would have been half glass. We did not want doors. Other design features that we did want were left out. I silenced my fears and fell for the sweet talking that he and the other employees did. By the time I signed the contract I was sure my initial concerns had been a mistake and I was going to get the bathroom I wanted. While the bathroom is much better than what I had I'm not sure I did. The bad: They paid zero attention to detail--an extra plug was not put in, the shower head was not raised, and my lights and fan were on the same switch. Only one of those things could actually be fixed. They also gave me baseboards with holes in them (which were barely noticeable once they painted but still not worth what I paid for it.) The painter that we hired through them got paint all over my brand new vanity. The project took longer than they anticipated, meaning my husband and I needed to take more time off work than we thought we would have to. I'm assuming the project is even finished. The bathroom never received the final inspection from the city. (It is now January, the project was completed in September.) The good: I genuinely liked the two men that installed it and people that I dealt with while there and while shopping for a bathroom. The bathroom itself is overall lovely and much better than what I had. Supposedly I have a lifetime warranty on the bathroom. The bottom line: Patete will not be remodeling my kitchen. I will find someone who appreciates how much money I am giving them and pays attention to details. I cannot recommend them to people. They aren't worth what they charge you, no matter how much they will pretend like they are.

I would like to apologize for any misunderstanding that might have taken place with your project. I took the time to research what you had done and scope of the work. As you mentioned you do like you bathroom and were satisfied with the people that you worked with at our place of business. You stated that it is so much better than what you had. You were satisfied with the people who installed the project, and you gave us a very high grade for professionalism. I checked out the electrical work that you mentioned and you had 3 single pole switches installed, one for each light and one for the fan. There were 2 new circuits run from you electrical panel. The electrical was all done to code and installed correctly. I noticed that we had a top notch crew on you job that does exemplary work. I'm not quite sure what bothered you but I again apologize. Yes you will have service on your project as long as you live in your home and if you need any service please call and we will be very happy to come an take care of you. Steve Erenrich, President

We had to have them back several times to correct leaks. They always come back. It seems like we have to have them back more often than I would like. That was the only negative. They provide a life time warranty on everything.
Description of Work: They remodeled the master bathroom and put a new commode and vanity in the spare bathroom.

It didn't go. After MUCH research, I decided I wanted stainless steel countertops. When I expressed this desire, and went in to see samples of cabinets, etc. (I think this was the 3rd trip to the showroom) I was shown other countertop materials and told I didn't want stainless and that Patete would not warrant stainless. I got the estimate of what they were offering, left, went with another company who had no problem with stainless steel and gave me the most gorgeous kitchen of my dreams! I might also note that, though I understand Patete's position, it was weird not getting ANY design pictures from them. It was like they were terrified someone would steal their ideas, which quite frankly, were not very unique. I originally had 5 companies competing for the job as it was a HUGE, COMPLETE REMODEL and all the others supplied their plans, 2 of which were IDENTICAL to Patete's. Saw the owners a couple of times (just to see~no interaction) and just didn't get good vibes even before them trying to tell this 50+ year old what she really wanted. Also did not think the "games" were necessary of covering up the price (they say it makes you "concentrate better on what is being said~I'm not a child, I can concentrate) and having to wait so long to get to the bottom line price. (Had to tour the offices, talk with everyone~though again NOT the owners, even though this was a $40,000+ job~and just what felt like we were treated as children. We go in for an estimate, give us the estimate & let us worry about our concentration. Another MAJOR flaw in my opinion and different from ALL the other companies, is Patete's estimate is ONE NUMBER. There is NO (zero, zip) breakdown of costs. You have no clue if you are paying $50 or $500 for a faucet. I said I wanted to do the demo (I enjoy that kind of work) but there was no demo number listed. Eventually was told they'd take off $300! Just not my kind of company. We ended up choosing George J. Bush Kitchen Center who got a professional stainless man to team up with them on this job as they had not done stainless before. Their estimate was broken down COMPLETELY, their plans were beautiful, there were no games played and each owner introduced themselves early on. The workers were all wonderful: professional and friendly. Their price was about the same as Patete, and I got EXACTLY what I wanted. I will say the representative who came to our home was prompt, courteous, and very friendly, which are why there are 2 A's.

I am very sorry that this person did not like our system. I guess we are not for everyone. Sitting on the front counter of our showroom we have a book with over 1500 letters from satisfied customers. All of these letters are raving about our system and our service. It should be noted that We get all A's and B's from the people we worked for on Angie"s List reviews. We take pride in what we do and how we do it. It is unfortunate that we did not show this customer what they wanted because we would not do stainless steel counter tops. It is our experience after over 50 years in business the the stainless steel tops would scratch, not hold up, and be a servie problem for years to come. It is very interesting that the people who the went with had to sub-contract out the counter tops. Again we are not for everyone. As for being ignored by me (the owner) it is our policy to meet each and every customer after they take the tour of our facility which these people seemed to think was childish and unnecessary. Of course this again is her opinion. Most of our customers are very impressed. As for no breakdown of the costs that also is not how we handle things and had she asked for the price on any individual things we would have been happy to respond. I think the problem here is she drove to our showroom 3 times for appointments and then chose someone else to do the job. I'm not sure why if she didn't like us that she came back the 2nd or 3rd time? She also waited 9 months to write this review. This seems very strange? Again we are very sorry to have wasted her time but want to assure everyone out there we will bend over backwards to satisfy our customers and give service as good or better than anyone our there which is shown by the number of positive reviews on Angie's list by people we have done work for. We have been a finalist for the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year award and are an A+ at the Better Business Bureau. Again we are probably not for everyone but can assure you the we try harder than anyone to satisfy our customers. One last note is she gave us good grades is some of the areas and then an F overall. Again the review makes no sense. I am very sorry we upset her but can assure everyone that is not how we do business. Steve Erenrich President
