Liberty Sewer was excellent and they did what almost ten other companies could not - they tracked my sewer line and found where it connected to the sewer main, without digging holes or ripping my house apart or doing other very expensive things. I was cited by the city for missing the sewer line trap fresh air inlet in the sidewalk in front of my house. It's an old row house in Philadelphia and our sewer pipe went into a crawl space and disappeared. I called a lot of companies to try to trace it and find the FAI, but none could. Most recommended I just start digging holes, costing +$2,000, because they were "sure" the pipe would be there. I wasn't convinced, however, as dye tests didn't support their theories. Several stopped calling me back when they found out it was difficult to track the pipe. And a few wanted to charge very high fees for simple things like checking with the city to see if they had plans for our house indicating where the pipe went (they don't). Finally I came across Dan at Liberty Sewer. He was the only one willing to put his gps camera in starting at the vent on our roof (meaning I didn't have to bust open a wall just to start). He was logical, explained what he was doing, explained what he knew vs what he thought, and found a number of clever ways to keep tracing the line (once in the crawl space the camera would get stuck). He was the only person willing to crawl into the crawl space to see if he could work in there (alas, it was too tight). And, finally he even bought some new equipment which he thought would solve the problem of getting stuck and allow us to trace further. It did, and finally, after +3 months and +6 visits, he figured out where the line went. I can't recommend them highly enough. They saved us thousands of dollars and were great to work with.

Where to begin with how excellent my experience was with this company? We had just completed a basement renovation and our basement had flooded once as a result of us capping off the garage drain. Our contractors were convinced that we needed a $4,000 trench drain to prevent flooding, but we weren't. One of the things we had learned from a second heavy rain that almost flooded the basement again was that even when the rear drain seemed clear, within seconds you could put your hand in and scoop out dirt, suggesting some kind of blockage in the drain line. Faced with the prospect of another heavy storm, we called Dan at 4:45 pm on a Tuesday, he called back within 10 minutes or so and made plans to arrive the next morning. He had an emergency on another job, and called with updates about his arrival, which I found very professional. When he arrived, he was amiable and direct. He gave me best and worst case scenarios, asked me to do some tests such as turn on all of the water in the basement to assess flow in the rear drain, and then he went to work. He snaked the drain, he used his camera, and got to work tunneling. He apprised me of the what he was doing at every step, and was determined to fix the problem. It took him far longer than he anticipated -- about 3 or 4 hours perhaps, but he was determined to help us because he knew that if the heavy rains came, we would definitely be flooded. At the end of it all, he was able to remove the stump which we found about 80 feet in from the rear drain. He invited me to to listen to the drain from both ends of the house (I could hear his assistant drilling on one end, and the water running through the drain from a hose on the other) to hear that it was clear. Alas, no heavy rain since his visit but we were delighted with his work, his professionalism, his energy (he's very funny and engaging) and his responsiveness. He seemed to really care about our plight. Best of all, we feel like we solved the problem from the source. As Dan noted, we could have spent $4,000 on the trench drain and found ourselves in the same mess. I recommend him enthusiastically!

Came next day in the time frame they told us. Listened to our problem, checked out the situation, told us what they were going to do. They set to work to clear out the sewer pipes. When they were done, they ran water out of the washing machine and went out to the street to listen for the water. He told us it was flowing great. They were in and out in a short amount of time and everything is working fine. Will be calling them again if I have any problems. Great service.

The garage was backed up, and they came out and unclogged the sewer drain. They were very professional and did a great job. I would hire them again.

This is a first time that I am writing a review even thought I am a long time online service user. I want to write this review because I am truly appreciated Dan?s service and his genuine trust in persons. Dan returned my call within 15 minutes. As he kindly tried to calm me down as I was worried that the problem could be extensive, he ensured me that he would stop by the next day even knowing that I won?t be able to meet him at the location. Dan fixed the problem the next day (his company offers 90 day warranty) and I find his price is extremely reasonable and competitive. Without me there Dan wasn?t able to collect the payment until later. I highly recommend this company and certainly will use their service again.

From the time of my initial call to the time that "Bryan" left it was a positive experience. I woke up to a basement full of dirty water, etc. I had no idea what to do, who to call. I went on Angie's List and found Liberty. I was surprised that it showed having Sunday hours, and figured I'd call but they won't come until Monday. The service took my information and within a few minutes the service man called and told me that he would be available in the afternoon. He called me around 11:00, told me when he would be arriving (it was the exact time). He was exceptionally friendly and professional. He looked at what needed to be done, explained everything to me in terms I understood, and gave me the cost - upfront. The job did not take long and was done professionally. After he was finished, you would not have known there was anyone there - he cleaned the area, put everything back. He even offered to show me how to unlock my back door that I can never open on my own. He even recommended a treatment to use in the future that may help prevent this from happening again too soon. Bryan was friendly, professional - a real asset to the company. I would highly recommend Liberty to anyone that needed this service in the future.

We called Liberty, left a message, and they called us right back. The owner, Dan, had had some dental work that morning and wasn't able to come to the initial call so he sent his assistant to take a look. He arrived in just a few hours after our call, which we appreciated, and surveyed the situation. Throughout the day I spoke and texted with Dan while his assistant checked things out at the house. Dan was very reassuring to us during this rather stressful time, assuring us "we'll take care of it - we're with you." Once Dan's assistant left, and pictures and videos were sent to him for review, he said he and his assistant would be here at 9:00 the next morning the fix the problem. They arrived at exactly 9:00 and, within 90 minutes, had unclogged our line and we were back in business. I had been told that they would be able to clean up the small mess that was left on the floor of our basement, but Dan suggested the job was easy enough for us to do ourselves, without him having to charge us for the job. What I feared would cost many hundreds of dollars, once I first discovered this problem, ended up costing less than $200 and we were very satisfied with the job Liberty did for us.

Dan was extremely courteous and professional, and explained what they were doing clearly. We had another big storm a few days later, and the drain overflowed again (though not as badly as before). I called Dan that night, and he came out first thing the next morning and cleared the storm drain again, and it works perfectly now. We were going out of town the next day, and he gave me his card to leave with our neighbors in case there were any problems with the drain while we were away. We were really pleased with his service and highly recommend Liberty Sewer & Drain!

Dan first came out to my home on August 15 or 16. I called him for the following three issues: 1. The metal u-joint under my kitchen sink was pitted and appeared in need of replacement 2. There were water marks on the basement ceiling under the dishwasher and I thought the dishwasher was leaking 3. The drain lever in my bath tub would not close the drain On this day, Dan impressed me with the fact that he wore covers on his shoes while inside my house and also with his investigative skills. He quickly discovered the water marks on the basement ceiling were due to holes at the top of the cement pillars at the back of my house. Since I was going out of town for a few days, Dan said to call him when I returned and we would set up an appointment for him to do both the u-joint replacement and the masonry repair on the tops of the four pillars. Dan told me he had done masonry work before he got into plumbing. Dan quoted me a price of $290 for both jobs. He needed to do more investigation on the bath tub drain lever at a later date. Dan came back on September 6 to do the work we discussed. This time he brought a young assistant to do the masonry repair while he replaced the pipes. Dan did a neat job, no mess, under the sink. The job took no more than 20 minutes. When his assistant was finished with the masonry repair, Dan opened my kitchen window to show me the work that was done on the pillars. Looking down from the kitchen window everything looked fine. Approximately four hours later I went out my back door and saw traces of cement about four feet from my back door and also on the driveway which I just had repaved the beginning of May. It looked like a ladder had been set down in that spot. Looking further, I found a fine spray of mortar covering the brick at the base of my back wall and above that four-five quarter-size spots of grey mortar on the beige stucco. There were also two-three areas where mortar was dropped on the driveway near the house. There was a big dollop of mortar sitting on top of my utility box, under the repair. If these areas were protected by a drop cloth or other means the spots wouldn't have been there. Since it was approximately 4 pm on a Friday afternoon, I did not call Dan. I figured he wouldn't come back at that hour and that close to the weekend. Frankly, I was afraid if I did not try to get the cement off the surfaces, approximately three hours after the work was done it would never come off. So I got a bucket and a scrub brush and scrubbed the stucco, brick and driveway. A good amount came off, but the brick, in particular, still has the mortar spray on it. Further, there are several cracks in the cement in three out of four pillars three days later. I've had masonry repair done at the front at the front of my house several years ago and it has not cracked yet. Further, that stone mason did not leave any type of mess behind. I had appointments the next Monday and Tuesday, but finally decided to e-mail Dan through Angie's List on Wednesday to explain the issue to him because I was very upset that areas under the mortar repair were not protected and that clean up was not done. When I hadn't heard from him the following afternoon, I called him and he came out to my house within a couple of minutes. He said he hadn't read my e-mail. Dan asked me why I hadn't called him right away. I didn't because I was worried the cement wouldn't come off if I didn't get to it immediately. It had already been on the surfaces 3-4 hours. A heated discussion followed, during which Dan was very unprofessional in his tone and manner. I've had other work done in my house and never had a contractor act this way if we disagreed on something. I wish I had not agreed to let Dan perform work which he is not rated for on Angie's List. Also I expected him, not his young assistant, to do the masonry work. I didn't know until the day he arrived to perform the necessary repairs that someone else would be doing the masonry. I asked Dan if he inspected the back of my house before he left. He said he did. I find that hard to believe. If he did, he would have seen all the areas that had mortar and spray on them. Before he left, we agreed that he would return $100 of what I paid him for the masonry work. ,

Dan was able to check out the issue and knew that it was a clog in the sewer pipe. He said that he could come out the next morning and fix the issue. He came the next day and my plumbing issue was pretty challenging. He was able to get the issue under control and helped me to understand what the problem was, along with explaining all of our options. When I was freaking out a little bit (we just recently had a major water issue and renovated our whole basement so I was concerned about water damage and flooding), he made sure I understood what was happening and helped me to calm down. He even left a pump for us in case we had an emergency overnight and told me that I could call him if something happened overnight and he would come to help us at any hour. Dan was able to help us find a company that could come out first thing in the morning for a GREAT price and help us replace our sewer line. Dan was so helpful and accommodating when we needed him most and we will certainly use Liberty Sewer again (hopefully for routine maintenance rather than emergency services)!

Dan listened to my description of what I thought were problems with the drain pipe. After testing the pipe by running a garden hose in two different downspouts, he determined there was no problem with the drain pipe. He noted that there was a problem with a down spout that was not properly connected to the pipe in the ground, and this was the likely cause of flooding in the basement. He also found that water collecting on the side of the house was due to the terrain, and not the drain. He also explained how the end of the pipe should be covered with a cap (missing) and that the water collecting at the end of the drain pipe was normal. Dan also explained how the sump pump in the basement was not connected to the drain pipe in question, but to another drain pipe in the yard. This information was very helpful. I appreciated his patience, his detailed explanations, his honesty and his reassurance that the drain pipe was OK. The service charge for the visit was well worth it.

I made a search and found LIBERTY SEWER AND DRAIN SERVICES? with good references. I called and the owner, Dan, he was quick to respond to my call and scheduled a time that was convenient for me. He showed up right on time, calling a few minutes ahead to let me know he was on his way. He was punctual, friendly, professional and knowledgeable, taking the time to explain the problem, showing me what that ?well known plumbing corporation? did, not resolving the problem, and advising me to do unnecessary things to the sewer system. I found LIBERTY SEWER AND DRAIN SERVICES pricing very fair, with everything explained up front, and I really appreciated that I was only charged for the services that successfully fixed the problem (i.e. Dan didn't charge separately for his time/work trying to clear the drain). I'd definitely call LIBERTY SEWER AND DRAIN SERVICES in the future for drain cleaning or other plumbing needs. Met with Dan and Bryan. They checked our storm drain, cleaned out the muck and realized it would need jet cleaning and not snaking. Dan was great. He talked me through the issue and what he would recommend as a resolution. I asked him who to use for this project and he gave me a name. He called ahead and explained the problem to them (A to U Services) and I got an appt with them next week. Thanks Dan for driving all the way out here only to realize we need another service provider to do the job. Based on their knowledge, friendliness and professionalism, I would highly recommend using them in the future.

The bath drain was very slow draining and the sewer drain cap (outside) was defective. I called Liberty Sewer last Friday, and Dan told me he would be here Wednesday between 10-12. As promised, he called around 10 AM and said he was on his way, he brought an assistant with him who was also very nice. Both projects took less than an hour. Dan and his assistant were prompt, professional, clean, and affordable. I would highly recommend for any sewage and drain issues.

This was the first time I used Liberty. Was tired of another larger company constantly trying to sell me more services every time they were in my house to service my sewer line, HVAC etc. My initial call was returned quickly & a time to come out the next day was agreed upon. Dan made it to the house within the window he gave us, & therefore didn't throw off my wife's schedule who had stayed home from work for the service call. He was professional and made my wife feel at ease. He explained that the issue was likely a bad pitch in the pipe which was causing the recurring blockage & suggested we simply plan to have the main cleaned ~every 8-10 months (which is how often we'd experience the blockage). Unlike the other company who immediately began writing a $14k estimate to replace the whole line, Liberty did the opposite & avoided the scare tactics. I will use Liberty again for sure.

Dan was a very nice and competent guy. Cleared sink drain easily and cleared tub. Because our tub is on a concrete slab clearing it was hard to do. Needed him to come back a second time for the tub and was able to clear further. We were selling house and needed it done before inspection which he did. Thought it would be a $5000 repair to dig up if he couldn't clear drain, but he did it.

We have used them a couple of times. We found them through Angie's List. Dan is an excellent person to work with and knows exactly what he is doing. He has good prices. He just tells you what is wrong without selling you additional services. He comes out quickly and is very responsive.

I found him on Angie's List two years ago, and he was very responsive. He was here for 3 days, and he was doing bit and pieces, because there was a lot of work to be done. I had called him last week and told him to check on an outside faucet for me, and he had helped. He was coming on Tuesday to help on that, and Monday, both my mother and I went down to the basement, and my cat likes to go with me, and she jumped in a puddle of water, so I called him and told him he needs to come out and look at that. He asked me where I was, and he was only about half a mile away, so he stopped by, and came back after an hour for me with a dry vac, and he unclogged the clog that was from the outside drain, he cleared that, and he got the water to flow. He was in between jobs, and he had to come back. He had to cut the pipe and put in a new PVC pipe and put rubber pipe. He also fixed the outside faucet, and it was good. He did a lot of work. I thought the price was reasonable, and he was here a few hours on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Dan came out to assess my project, which was a new sump pump and rerouting of the outtake pipe. He showed up on time and took his time evaluating the problem and determining what should be done to alleviate water leakage in my basement. I have always had a damp basement, but it had become much worse. I was upfront with him about not wanting to put in a costly French drain, and he determined I didn't need one. He recommended the new sump and offered suggestions for repairs I could do myself to help the situation. Dan and his assistant came out and installed the new sump and crock. They were meticulous about cleanup and very professional. A few days after the install, water was going into the sump but it wasn't kicking on so I wasn't sure it was working. I called Dan and he came out an hour or two later inspected and make sure it was working. Turns out the crock just wasn't full enough, because the sump kicked on once he started adding more water. Dan was completely friendly and didn't act as though I was an inconvenience when I asked him to come check out the sump again. Liberty Sewer provides quality work and professional service at a fair rate.

Dan was professional,courteous and very knowledgeable. He made me feel very sure about his abilities and was confident in his activities. I would highly recommend him for any drainage problems that you may have. I know that I would use him again if necessary

He was on time and very professional. He added cover to his shoes before walking in the house and covered all work area with plastic. I ask a lot of questions and he was very patient, knowledgeable and easy to talk to. I will definitely hire him again.

We have a kitchen sink that was draining very slowly after running the water for about 10 seconds. After finding Liberty Sewer on Angie's List, I called them on Monday morning at 8am. Dan from Liberty called me back at 8:30am and told me they can fit me in between appointments around 10am. He called again at 9:30am to tell me he is on his way. Got here exactly at 10am. Assessed the issue, checked out the drainage system from the kitchen to the basement, gave an estimate, and went to work. Everything, from fixing to clean-up, was 30 minutes. Dan and Brian were professional, friendly, respectful, and honest. I highly recommend them.
