Over all it went ok

I've used them a lot. They are very professional and very friendly. I can count on them and trust them. What he says goes. He said the windows would be in on a certain date and he called me a week early to change the date. I appreciated that he called me. They have been around for a while and they live up to their reputation. They did a roof for me years ago. They have always provided the service they said they would. They always call if they need to change something so I am not left hanging.

They do very well. It is family owned—father and son—and they are entrenched in the community so you see them everywhere. The people who work for them have been there for a long time; I just had someone do a job for me that had done another job ten years ago and we remembered each other. They are very thorough. Once they took out my old slider they saw that I needed more concrete poured at the base so they took care of it without charging me any extra. They wanted it to be right, so they did it. They aren’t the cheapest, but they are good.

Price was reasonable - we compared to other estimates that we received - all of the costs were clearly explained up front, no surprises. Professional staff. Finished the work when they said they would. Only minor complaint - residual nails in the grass after clean-up - that maybe normal for having a roof done, not sure this was our first time.

They were pretty good. It was a little hard to get them back and make an adjustment with the doors because there had been a problem with the doors, so they were a little hard to get a hold.

The work was very good. They were prompt, efficient and I would recommend them.

I have always recommended this company to neighbors and friends. S&S was the most willing to work with us to design what we wanted and would fit our life style/budget. The initial consultation was not a high pressure sales pitch like many other companies. Also, most other companies were simply selling a product and had no alternatives plans or products to offer like S&S did. Our porch was older and had obstacles to working with the existing structure. I am still happy with the work they did three years later. I hired them again one year later when I needed to buy replacement windows for a rental property.

They have done work for my house years ago. The work was good. I am happy with the company. I can’t say anything bad about them.

Their work was okay. It was a typical contractor. You have to keep an eye on them, but that’s not a bad thing, I think that’s what you need to do with all contractors. They did a nice job on the roof and they gave a fair price.

They were excellent and did a great job. They are very honest, especially when dealing with insurance companies. He was very thorough and followed through on everything.

Not only did S & S, in particular Gary Subers, fit my criteria, the workmanship on all tasks was superior. I was particularly impressed with the craftsmanship displayed in the instillation of a custom steel door. The work crews were polite, took pride in their work, and did an excellent job of cleaning up. Any questions that I had were answered and any minor adjustments that I pointed out along the way were promptly addressed. Overall I found working with S & S a pleasant experience.

We've used S&S in the past (sliding door, storm doors, roof), but never used them for windows. We wanted to replace an old window, pull an air conditioner that went through the wall of the house, and put in one, larger window. I called other companies who specialize in windows and none was willing to try it because they didn't want to deal with the air conditioner. When I remembered S&S and gave them a call, they were happy to come out and look at the situation. First, I like the fact that either Ray or his son Gary are the ones who come out to measure. They are the owners. S&S has been in the area for 50 years, so I'm confident that they're not going anywhere. Ray was totally OK with helping get rid of the eyesore air conditioner, and combining that hole with the other window opening, for one large, airy window. He showed up on time, measured and got me an estimate within a day or two. While it was a bit higher than I had hoped, I knew that there would be no issues, so it was worth a bit more for the quality. He also explained to me the alternatives for finishing the window on the outside - combining the new window into existing brick siding. I put the deposit down in mid-October with the warning that it might be late December before they could get to it because everyone is trying to get in under the government rebate deadline. Imagine my surprise when I got a call mid-November for the day after Thanksgiving. The crew showed up promptly, spread their tarps out, so that the rest of my house stayed clean (or as clean as it can when they're messing with drywall), and set to work. I had been warned that it might be a two-day job, but by 3:30 on day 1, they were done - not only done, but they had also PAINTED THE TRIM!!! That wasn't part of the deal, but they did it anyway. They also patched a crack that went from the old window up towards the ceiling. Again, not part of my contract. When they walked out the window looked like it had always been there. S&S will probably never be the cheapest, but they will do a #1 job, respond to your calls, and treat your house like they would their own.

They did a very good job. They were professional, clean and did a very good job on the roof. They also did some insulating on top of the roof, too. They did it all in 5 days and cleaned up very well. I had one little problem and they came right back out and corrected it. I haven't had to call again since then.
