Description of Work: In my efforts to find good home security system, I found ADT to be very difficult and unresponsive to communication. I do not recommend them since customer service and communication are even more important than price of system

Description of Work: Full home security system with monitoring

Description of Work: We have had a contract with ADT for about 10 years. We have experienced periodic problems, which they have fixed, but waiting for service has always been a problem. Today the alarm began beeping, and when we checked the panel, it said that there was a problem with our sliding glass door not being closed properly. It was closed properly, and we could get the beeping to stop for only a few seconds at a time. We called the 800 number, were given instructions on how to bypass that part of the system, and were given an appointment for a week from today. They did offer an appointment for tomorrow morning, but we already had an engagement scheduled that could not be changed. We asked to have someone come out immediately, but we were told that first we would have to agree to pay the overtime fee, which was close to $300 for the first 30 minutes. We decided that we would just have to go a week with part of the system disabled, but as soon as we hung up the phone, it began beeping again, so the bypass was not working. We called back and got a representative who was extremely rude and condescending and kept saying the same instructions over and over. I kept explaining that I was doing what he said but that it wasn't working because the beeping wasn't stopping. He finally said that the only solution was to unplug the system. We did this because we could not live with the beeping for a week and because we could not afford the exhorbitant overtime fee, but that leaves us with no alarm system for a week. I finally asked for a supervisor because the man was so unhelpful, and I told her that we will expect a refund or credit for the week that we cannot use the system for which we pay. She put me on hold for about 5 minutes to "check with billing" and came back to say that our credit for no service for a whole week would be about $1.00. She then gave a nonsensical explanation. At this point, we have no choice but to wait a week for service, and we intend to begin shopping for a different company when we can find tine to do so, but while we still have to pay for ADT, we do not want to pay for service that we are not getting for the next week. This is unfair, unethical and irresponsible on their part and shows that they have no interest whatsoever in their small accounts.

Description of Work: I called the main 800 number for ADT, sales guy came and was very nice, then a few days later the install guy came and he was very nice as well.
