My experience was excellent from the first call! So much so that I've told several people about it before writing it up here :-) I called to have the bathtub faucet & assembly and the shut off values replaced as quickly as possible because they were leaking (but it wasn't an emergency). The assistant who answered the phone was very knowledgeable and recommended that I let Available Plumbing purchase the fixture assembly because they could ensure its quality and get it at a better discount than I could at a plumbing store. They had no problem working with one I would purchase, but I went with their recommendation since another contractor who gave me an estimate for the job suggested the same thing. And given all the wrong choices that can be made in selecting these assemblies, I was happy to do so. The assistant was helpful and punctual in getting back to me with price quotes for the work and the materials and they were able to schedule me in the next week. Two plumbers came to the house (at least one was a Master Plumber registered in Philadelphia, so he can work anywhere in PA), calling first (a real plus) and got straight to work. In general I was impressed by how much care they took to work cleanly and leave the place even better than they found it (e.g, they cleaned up the years of caulking and dirt behind and around the fixtures and used a wet-vac to clean up after they were done). I was very happy that they were comfortable with me being there while they were working and answered my questions in the process (which didn't slow them down at all). When they were finished I understood a great deal more about the plumbing and why they'd used certain parts or processes as well as what to look for should I need other repairs in the future. They also stayed true to the price originally quoted to me even though the old fixtures were a bit of a chore to remove, having been cemented in. I would definitely use them again and would highly recommend them to anyone needing a good plumber.
Description of Work: Had the bathtub faucet and full assembly replaced, and new shut-off valves installed, as both were leaking and were likely original to the house (1945).

Randy arrived promptly on a Sunday afternoon to look at a leaky toilet and a slow-draining shower and bathtub in our master bathroom. As in our previous experiences with Available Plumbing and Randy, he was quick, thorough and professional. He made quick work of the repairs, took time to discuss a future possible garbage disposal installation, and wished us a happy Thanksgiving on the way out. We are always pleased with Randy's service, punctuality and professionalism, and would not hesitate to recommend him without reservation. We will use his services again!

We returned from vacation (on a Saturday late afternoon) to a leaking water heater. We left a message with Available Plumbing and they returned the call within 15 min. We described the problem and requested an efficient and high-quality replacement; they asked for the existing water heater information (model #, etc.) so they could get the proper replacement. They called back in 15 min. (or so) and unfortunately the distributor was closed for the day/weekend. This was expected and we understood. First thing Monday morning Available Plumbing called the distributor and then call us and described the recommended product and we agreed. Available said they would be at the house about 4:00, they arrived earlier and by about 6:30 the heater was installed and working. They were professional, responsible, clean, and reliable

Randy and his partner were already in the neighborhood and arrived over a half hour early and were waiting for me and my wife. Randy pointed out some potential issues with the way the pipes were setup on our boiler, making a point to tell us it wasn't a very good boiler but recognized we were not going to replace a 5-6 year old boiler as new home owners. He also said we should replace the pipe running underground from the street and into our house instead of just the corroded pipe that is just inside the wall of our basement and between the water meter. Now, while his professional opinion may very well be perfectly good and sound advice, we decided not to use Available plumbing. We found his estimates to be very high. For example, he wanted about $1200 to replace the hot water heater. I looked up the average price for the size and brand he was going to use and found it was around $500. I searched the internet for average cost of labor and found several professional plumbers who said labor to remove and replace a gas hot water heater was around $300. So where is the extra $400 going? Really? They wanted to charge around $700 for about an hour of labor (even if you include time and effort for disposal of the old hot water heater)? However, the biggest reason by far that my wife and I chose not to use Available Plumbing is that we just didn't trust Randy and his mate. Our gut feelings about them was that yes, they probably were perfectly qualified to do the plumbing work, but we just didn't get a good feeling about them; didn't want them in our house even though we hadn't moved in yet and it was completely empty! This opinion is completely subjective and not really much Randy can do about it, but this is how we felt. We probably would have hired Available despite the price, but there was just no getting around the unpleasant feeling we got when meeting with them and having them walk through the house with us. And to be perfectly clear, Randy and his partner did not do anything strange, did not present themselves in anything but a professional manner. Again it was primarily our gut feelings that made us shy away from using Available. 9/27/2011 - Sorry if my original posting hurt their feelings, but after reading Available's response, I am glad we didn't use them.

Response from Available Plumbing Inc
Unfortunantly this is what happens when a home owner wants to band aid plumbing instead of repairing it the proper way. Available Plumbing Inc does not band aid. The claim about our water heater price is ridiculous. Don't believe everything you read. The internet is waiting to take advantage of inexperienced home owners like you. As far as your gut feeling is concerned we believe you wanted champaigne work at beer prices. You also failed to mention that we showed up at your house on a Friday night at 5pm to make it easier on you. Maybe those mysterious internet contractors are more of what you are looking for workmanship wise. Good Luck with your gut feeling!

I wrote an email in the evening and Anna Maria called back right away. I was impressed. However, on the next morning I called 4 times and left messages "please tell me when the plumber will come in the house". Despite this delay I was very pleased with the work the plumber / business owner did. He was very professional and explained everything he needed to do. I chose Available Plumbing because of the good reports and I was very satisfied with their work, too. This is a family operated business focused on quality and customer satisfaction. Definitely will use their corteges services again.

I contacted Annamaria (very nice and professional) and originally set up an appointment for Friday. She called mid-week, and due to a problem asked to move my appointment to Sat. No problem. The 2 employees were on time, very professional and polite. The work went smoothly, and they did a complete clean up. This is the second time I used Available, and am happy to say that I have found a plumber that does good work and is fairly priced.

I contacted Available Plumbing to diagnose a bathtub that wouldn't drain and was able to get an appointment for the next day. Randy arrived right on time and wasted no time solving my problem! He was friendly and professional and I will definitely make Available Plumbing my first call the next time I need a plumber.

An internet query based on Angie's List search was returned next day. Quote was provided with only a detailed explanation of the work required (no visit needed) and work was scheduled for the following week when we were available. Work was started and executed as planned. An alternate shutoff valve option was suggested to save both a little money and having to cut into drywall. It was the best solution possible. Pricing reflected a discount for Angie' List members and was very competitive with other vendors. We were very pleased with the work and would use Randy again.

We were very concerned because we suspected a major problem in the plumbing. I called a week earlier on a Friday afternoon in the late afternoon, although I did not speak to anyone at the time, I left a message and got a return call from AnnaMarie less than 30 minutes later. She was my first contact with this business and I felt she was clear, pleasant and professional. She called me back with the plumber's availability and I was happy that he could be out by the next morning at 10AM. I rescheduled a few hours before him coming and had no problem being accommodated for an early weekday appointment. I was able to have the problem assessed and fixed before going to work on Thursday 8//26. Randy, the plumber came on time - 7:30am and immediately tackled the problem. Turns out our toilet did not have a good seal and was not bolted down to the floor! He secured the bolts and added a valve so that we could control the water directly to the toilet. He also fixed our basement sink's faucet that was not allowing the cold water to come on - he did not charge us for that additional service even though he took his time doing it. He was in and out in less than 2 hours for everything he did. What impressed me was that was willing to teach while working and wanted to help us save money. He could have made this into an expensive experience - but he didn't. We were quite happy and I was quick to recommend him to my coworkers who also need reliable, trustworthy contractors. Overall an excellent experience!

Randy initially came to the building with an engineer, to assess whether the water pump we had was adequate to provide water to the building. After making an assessment, Randy suggested that we simply add an additional water storage tank to ensure a greater volume of water was available to the building. After receiving some other quotes, we decided to go with Randy as the most cost-efficient and we were also impressed with the fact that Randy first consulted with an engineer; something neither of the other plumbers did. After some scheduling issues on both sides; Randy came and completed the work in one day. Since then, the building's water issues have been fully resolved. Moreover, it appears that in installing the water tank, Randy also created a more sturdy platform for our existing water pump, which was above and beyond the work he was required to perform, at no additional charge.
Description of Work: Our condo association hired Randy to assess whether the water pump we had installed was adequate, and whether an additional reserve pump was necessary.

We hired them due to overwhelming positive reviews on Angies list. Everything went very well and we would hire them again. I am very pleased with the quality of work and also with the reasonable price for two hours of work. The job was not straight forward but the plumbers were very accommodating and professional. We live in a condo complex and needed proof of insurance, license etc prior to scheduling the work. The required information was provided in a timely manner by Annamaria. Also we needed the water shut off to our condo complex building (comprising ~ 10 units) because our shut off valve was broken. This meant that the plumber would have to work efficiently so that our neighbors would have running water ASAP. The work started on time and went well. All the necessary repairs were made in the bathroom in under an hour. The new shut off valve was installed without any issue and it looks good (quality and aesthesis). The repairs in the kitchen took longer than expected due to the pipes being in very bad shape. The plumber took the time to explain the additional problems with the kitchen pipes (which I did not know about and had not communicated to the plumber) and I had him correct the issues. The additional charge for an unexpected problem was very reasonable. The plumber was pleasant and also cleaned up well.
Description of Work: Plumber installed new pipes under the kitchen sink from the sink strainer to the main pipe. The plumber also installed a new bypass valve for the bathroom toilet and also installed a new toilet tank float and flapper.

Very impressed with all aspects of dealing with Available Plumbing. Quickly returned phone calls, quick and flexible on scheduling the work, easy to deal with. A relatively simple plumbing job that I managed to screw up three times, before giving up, and looking on Angie's list for a pro to do it right. Got two quotes; one from Available and another from a 'straight A' rated Angies list contractor. Available was 1/3 of the price of the other guys - a no brainer...but sometimes cheapest isn't always best, is it ? Not this time....unlike some contractors, who can be a bit "know it all", and like to show off how much they know and how little the do-it-yourselfer knows, Randy happily answered my questions as he worked, let me watch and learn as he fixed - in 45 mins - what took me several days to do wrong 3 times. Then, after he finished he spent time giving me some great pro tips on how to complete the rest of my bathroom project in a better way - stuff that I would never have thought of on my own. We're considering a much bigger kitchen project later this year....if it happens,we'll definitely be back to Available to quote for the work.

I got Available Plumbing from Angie's List, as they are so highly rated, and I am NOT disappointed. From start to finish it was great dealing with this company. Anna Maria was very helpful on the phone setting up the appointment, and Randy arrived on time, completed the work quickly and professionally. He cleaned up nicely. He was also sensitive to my anxiety about my dog escaping out of the front door as he went in and out of the house, making certain that he closed the door securely behind him. I will definitely hire them for our plumbing needs.

I needed a plumber to install a new water heater, a new garbage disposal and to fix a leak under the kitchen sink. I searched Angie's list and found Available Plumbing. They had an excellent rating and were very close to my home. My phone call was returned quickly. Anna Maria gave me a start time in a spread of 1 1/2 hours. They arrived prior to that, did all the installations/repairs and actually cleaned up before leaving. I did not have to pick up anything. I have them coming in again to install a new kitchen faucet. The next time anyone needs plumbing services you can't go wrong using Available. Their rating on Angie's list is well-deserved!

I noticed the water heater was broken on a Saturday morning. I called a plumber in the neighborhood and left a message, about 9:30 AM. An hour later I had not received a call back. I looked at the phone book and didn't know where to start so I joined Angie's List and found Available Plumbing. I saw they had a good rating and were within a reasonable distance to me. I left a message and received a call back in about 20 minutes from Annamaria. We discussed the price and the time. And we spoke several more times that day as the plumber's arrival time changed. Everything went well. Rick removed the old water heater, put in the new water heater and everything went well. I can't say enough good things about this company and Rick who was my plumber. I would use them again and recommend them to everyone.

What an excellent experience! I originally was looking for a plumber to address a dripping tub faucet. I left a message/email with several plumbing companies one evening. This company was the first to respond the next morning. They listened to my description of the problem, and promised a plumber to come over to see my tub and shower that very day. The plumber assessed my situation and informed me that because of previous contractor work (with previous owner) done on my tub and shower system, that he either had to break the tile on my bathroom wall to access the faucet pipes or he would have to break off my shower handles, in which case I would need a new tub and shower faucet set. I opted for the new set. I wanted to match my sink faucet that my husband purchased two years ago when we had some light plumbing work done. It turned out to be a real hassle trying to match the set on my own. Available Plumbing was excellent in hunting down options for me, and giving me advice. They ordered the set I chose, and as soon as it had arrived, the plumber came again to install my faucet set. He was professional, did excellent work and left his workplace very clean. I did not feel like I needed to clean up after him. I also greatly appreciated the fact that he tried to be as "quiet" and mindful of his work as he could be as I have an infant in the home, even on the very same floor as the bathroom he was working in. Thankfully, my baby was able to take naps through the period of work--amazing! I felt the price was very fair for the parts and labor. I also received a discount because I found them through Angie's List! I am pleased with the price, with the parts, with the quality and professionalism of the work, and with this company. I will definitely use them again in the future should the need arise. I will also highly recommend them to anyone I know who needs any plumbing work done.

I had originally called Available Plumbing to check out a dripping faucet in my tub (see my other report) and was in the midst of choosing another tub/shower faucet set when one morning I discovered that my ceiling under the floor of the bathroom had swelled up with water. I called Available Plumbing to send out an emergency plumber. He came within a few hours and punched a hole in my ceiling. He found what he called "the worst case scenario". My cast-iron pipes are original to the house and were in very bad shape. The hub holding the pipe work to the soil stack had split, and there were turnbuckles on another major pipe. We also found that the soil stack connection into the ground had been done improperly and needed to be fixed. At worst, the pipe system needed to be replaced. Unfortunately, all of the plumbers with the company were engaged on other assignments and could not fix my pipes for two days. No worries, my family and I had fun with it. Available Plumbing itself was shorthanded but they sublet the job out to another plumbing company with which they are good friends. Because I had developed a relationship with Available Plumbing up to this point working on my original problem, I had no concerns about having another company unknown to me in my home. I felt that if Available Plumbing would send them to my house then they would vouch for this company. They were punctual, and completed all work within 7 hours. They removed all my original pipework and replaced it with new pipework. They had to make a larger hole in my living room ceiling to access the pipes and remove them. They also removed some of the wall and flooring in my second-floor closet where the tub access panels are located. They thought they would have to remove some of the tiles from my bathroom floor around the toilet, but they did not have to as they managed to maneuver the piping around without breaking my tiles. They arrived at 8:30, and my toilet was already in my tub at 10:30 a.m. (to get it out of the way). I felt they worked very fast to get a great amount of work done. They brought their own drop cloths and shop vac and would clean after themselves after the completion of each stage of the process. When they were ready to leave, they were very diligent in cleaning up after themselves and even wiping down as many surfaces as they could access. Of course it is very dusty work when you have to break down walls so I did find dust in places that were carried there by the air flow in the house, but I felt that was normal and to be expected. The price of their work ended up being lower than what I was originally quoted so I was pleased with that. They were professional, courteous, friendly, punctual, and did quality work. I appreciated Available Plumbing sending them to my house when they themselves could not. It was actually an enjoyable experience, which is a funny thing to say when you are having major plumbing work done.

Randy came at around 9:30. He left for about an hour and a half to get supplies. He returned and one hour later had installed the pipe in a most awkward configuration. It might have been legal, but it was not safe and projected into the garage in such a way that it inhibited walking along side car or opening of car door. I called when my husband got very upset at the way it had been put in. Two weeks later, Available sent out another plumber to change the line to a much more sensible and safer configuration. He was pleasant and efficient and did not have to go anywhere to get elbows or piping. He put the line in properly and it took him much longer than it would have if Randy had put it in properly from the start. Randy took the easiest way...and the fastest way...not the safest or best. Kudos to the plumber who repaired Randy's work. Before Randy left on the first day, I asked him for an estimate on a water heater replacement. His estimate was almost double what any of the local plumbers were asking. After installing the line, Randy left without bothering to re-light the gas heater's pilot. He remembered later and at about 5:00 pm, the guy who eventually corrected his work came up to light the pilot so we would have hot water. If it wasn't for the other plumber, the rating would have been much lower.
Description of Work: Gas line installed for stove. Approx. 12 feet of line from meter to stove. Estimate for replacement of water heater.

Response from Available Plumbing Inc
Dear Member, Our record speaks for itself. Your attempt to soil our reputation is disgraceful. What you failed to mention is that Randy installed the gas pipe exactly where you requested it and Randy asked you several times if the location was okay. Randy even spay painted your existing exterior rusted gas pipes to make them look better. You also failed to mention that you were not honest over the phone about the extent of the job but we stood by our price anyway. When you called to tell us that you wanted the pipes rearranged we did it for no additional charge even though you approved the piping THE FIRST TIME! We have your signature to prove it. Than when it came time for us to get paid you conveniently misplaced your checkbook. As far as forgetting to light the water heater, that is true but we did return that afternoon to relite it. We apologize for being human and making a mistake. You received more than your moneys worth BOTH TIMES! In closing the "F" for responsiveness is ridiculous, we keep in constant contact with you and we gave you our direct cell numbers. We made NO money on your job the first time because of your dishonesty and we lost money the second time when you had us rearrange your gas pipe. Available Plumbing Inc. finds this to be a vicous attack and unwaranted. You are dishonest and you took advantage of us.

Called Available pretty early in the morning and Anna Marie promptly answered the phone and got me in contact wiht her husband Randy. We discussed the costs and some concerns I had with hard water. Randy made a recommendation on a unit he had installed at another customers residence that was experiencing similar failures due to hard water. After I obtained another comparitive quote, I found the competitor to be higher priced by what I felt was a significant amount. I chose to give the work to Available, but was concerned that they might not be able to service me until Friday. Randy and Anna Marie managed to schedule me for a same day repair and the work was done within three hours of when I gave them the job. It was completed in a very professional manner and with concern for the cleanliness of my home demonstrated by the tarp layed down from the front door to the utility area in the basement. I would work with Available again without hesitation.
Description of Work: I had an 80 gallon electric powered water heater, expansion tank and overflow pan installed to replace an existing but failed unit of the same size. They also removed and discarded the old unit.
