Pawlak's One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning

He came and found out why the A/C wasn't running. He also checked the coolant to see if there was enough.

Pawlak was supposed to follow up with the dye test within 3-4 weeks, they never did. This is a rental property for me so I slipped my mind to call and remind them, 2 months go by and the AC is out of freon again...Technican came back and apparently identified the problem immediately, gave me the option of a whole new system or filling with freon once again, this would have been good to know a month prior when then were supposed to follow up, when I spoke with the office manager on the phone she said they would remedy the situation with additional freon, as did the tech when I spoke with him originally, when I spoke with the owner he vetoed all of this and was basically zero help...did some research afterwards and found out they pretty much over charged me for everything...AVOID THIS COMPANY!!! there are plenty of quality heating and cooling options available in Pittsburgh, not worth it to fall for the coupon on here...

I spoke to several people at One Hour H&AC and everyone was very nice including the technicians. Fast friendly service at a fair price, I will be using One Hour for all my heating and cooling needs and will spread the word to others.

It was awful. first they ordered the wrong size of drip pan. it took 8-10 days to arrive and then when it did it was the wrong size so we waited another 5-10days for a new pan to arrive. The two men that came out were clearly unqualified and uncertain as to what they were doing and continuously called the owner for instructions. Once they felt they were done with the work and were ready to replaced the cut out piece of duct work into the furnace that was needed to be open, they then only taped it closed. I had to ask them to secure it with something stronger. After they did that we noticed that it was leaking again, so 10 minutes later they are opening the rivets again to see why it was leaking, they said they found and corrected the problem. Then again closed up the opening, went to their truck to get the receipt when they came back in we told them again that it was leaking. Again they reopened it saying that they again figured it out and corrected it. They left only to return by us Calling them back 20 min later. At that time whatever they did seemed to work. It did still leak a tiny bit but we thought perhaps it was condensation, this past week however it it leaking all over our floor. I would like them to fix what we believe is their mistake, but I fear they are too inexperienced and by allowing them back in they may only make it worse. I really thought Angies list was to protect consumers through their website by making customers informed. This company did seem to have good ratings, but if they are good why are the workers inexperienced and calling others for advise on how to repair the problem.

When my first appointment for an estimate had to get rescheduled due to unforeseen circumstances, Mr Pawlak made sure I was the first appointment of the day the next day I was available. His technician had to deliver the bad news that my entire furnace had to be replaced, but Mr Pawlak came by later that same day to give me an estimate. It was during this initial consultation that this company really impressed me. Mr Pawlak sat down with me for some time, educating me on furnaces, how and why they function well, and just generally a mini-hvac lesson, before he even approached me with the options his company could provide. After sitting and listening to his initial presentation, I felt empowered and informed enough to ask a variety of questions I perhaps would not have thought of if he had not taken the time to educate me. I did get several estimates, but between the package that Pawlak's was able to put together for me, and the time he spent with me before even booking me as a client, the job went to him. The work was completed very quickly and cleanly, and they worked around my work schedule. i would highly recommend giving this company a call.

So I purchased a deal here on Angie's List for a $49 diagnosis which included $25 off any service. Basically that equals a $24 diagnosis. That's a deal already, since the cheapest place I found prior to this was $69, with all others hovering right about $90. The Angie's list checkout page informed me that Pawlak's would contact me no sooner than Thursday (I bought the deal on Tuesday). Thursday at 5am, I checked my email and saw they had emailed me on Wednesday. One day ahead of schedule on response time was already looking like a good review to me. I called first thing Thursday (today) and lucky me, they had an opening that morning. Within a half an hour, the service techs were at my house. My central air wasn't working. My boyfriend's dad does heating and cooling but lives 2 states over. They diagnosed the problem, which I believe they said was a dual capacitor (they said it was essentially the starter for the unit) and changed and installed the filter. While they were working, my boyfriend called his dad and asked about the price. He said it sounded like a good deal to him. In less than an hour from placing the phone call, my air was fixed. My cats, myself, and my boyfriend are very happy, and nice and cool. If that isn't an A+, I don't know what is.

Pawlak's rescued us from a big mistake that we would have made with another company that was hired through our home warranty service. After a very frustrating experience with that prior company, Pawlak's came out same day and assessed our broken AC system, explained what went wrong so we understood the problem and parts involved, and they gave us multiple options for going forward, irrespective of what our warranty company wanted to do. They were so helpful when we were in a jam, and even provided advice on how to best reach our home warranty (where i was repeatedly on hold 2-3 hrs) by calling on off-hours to help ensure we would still get our warranty coverage even though we were reaching out to Pawlak's independently, and not using the company originally dispatched. Given that we live 4 hrs away and this is a rental property, on top of helping us deal with a home warranty company, I was so grateful that they took my call and serviced us politely and very promptly. On schedule, the new AC system went in July 1- and all for a better price than expected. We are so happy we did the full replacement, as Marty explained that once the repair-only that was covered by our home warranty would have been made- which would still have cost us 800+ out of our pocket- it would all be incompatible with any new outside unit that would be put in when our 32-yr old outside system inevitably failed weeks, month, or- at most- a few years from now. Thus, we would have flushed over $800 down the drain if it hadn't been for Pawlak's taking to the time to inform us about the problem and how the different options would work. Instead we invested that money towards the new system and they advised me how to ask the the home warranty for just flat cash towards that. Much smarter plan! We are so grateful! They were great to communicate via both email and phone and were prompt with sending invoices and receipts. We also signed up for twice annual maintenance with this company and will be dropping our home warranty in the future now that we have a new AC and our furnace was replaced 2012. We look forward to continuing to work with Pawlak's!

I wished they could have found leak and repaired

My air conditioner would not work. I am embarrassed to say that the only problem was the switch flipped in the panel board. They came out, checked out the system. All was fine, they said. Went to the basement and discovered that the switch was flipped. The serviceman told me that recent storms could have tripped the switch. After doing a thorough check, and reporting to me that there was nothing wrong with my unit, they wanted to sell me a monthly contract for over $26.00 per MONTH to service the unit. This is after telling me that the unit did not need to be serviced. This would be over $312 to work on a system that they told me did not need to be worked on. I found this to be fishy.

Arrived prepared. They were knowledgable and quick with the repair. no issues and quality work.

Our AC unit failed suddenly one evening. A call was placed around 6:30pm and by 7pm a service visit was set up for the following day. During the service call, Marty (the owner) identified the problem, attempted to fix the solution by replacing 2-3 parts on the AC unit, and assessed the effectiveness of the fix. Unfortunately, the unit was not able to be fixed. Despite the amount of work he had performed on the unit, he removed the parts he put on, returned the unit to the condition he found it in, and only charged me for the service call and not all of the work he also did. He recommended a new unit and a meeting was set up for the next day. He arrived punctually and was very professional and informative. He did a thorough inspection of the unit inside and gave me extensive information from which to make a decision. Throughout he was extremely professional and showed a high level of expertise in the field. I plan on using them to purchase and install the new unit. (the price listed in this review will reflect the price of the new unit plus installation). I highly recommend this company and was very happy with the service that was provided.

Our air conditioner stopped working on 6/2/15. We placed a call to the contractor that last serviced our system, but the number was no longer in service. We went to Angie's list to see who was available to sevice air conditioners, 6/5. This was our first experience using Angie's list so it was overwhelming trying to choose someone. We called Angie's list and we discussed Pawlak's Heating and Air Conditioning because of their "A" rating and Super Service Awards. We waited a day, reviewed the list and decided to phone Pawlak"s. The woman who answered was very helpful. We discussed what was wrong. She told us we would recieve a call from the repairman between 12:00 and 2:00 P.M. on the day we scheduled. The serviceman called about 12:15 P.M. He made sure what was needed and arrived within a half hour. He checked our system and determined the condenser fan motor was inoperable. He told us how much the part and repair would cost. He didn't have the part on his truck but went back to his supplier. He was back in about an hour. He wanted to complete the repairs that day. It was fortunate for us as the temperature reached 90 degrees the next day. He checked the unit and was very nice. We would recommend this company to our friends and anyone else looking for help. We were very please with the people and the service.

Scheduled me right away and got the Ac working before the 90 degree heat wave. It's still holding up :)

From my initial call until the service was complete, the communication was clear, the manner was professional and my expectations were met. They gave me a one hour window in which they would arrive and they stuck to it. The repair was made quickly and all was up and running properly in no time at all.

My furnace was not working and my regular repairman was not available. So I checked Angie's List. Pawlak was running a special special so I called and they scheduled me within a few hours. He was very knowledgable and fixed my furnace . In addition to the repair, he checked the system and gave me a few very good tips. My only compliant was the cost. They group their repairs into 4-5 groups and charge a flat rate. Since my furnace is 25 years it took an extra hour for the repair. I was expecting a service charge hourly rate and the cost of the part. So basically my flat rate included $50 for the part and $100 per hour door to door. I guess it wasn't 't that bad since the installation took a lot more time than normal but I prefer a parts plus labor type billing process.

What impressed me most is that I received service from the owner about a half hour after I called, and my call was after 5 p. m. I was charged $99 for the service call, a $10 premium from the regular price, which was fair. Mr. Pawlak was courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable, and quickly diagnosed the problem, which, thankfully, was something that he could remedy on the spot, and which was not by any means the worst possible outcome with an aging heating system. Immediate, competent service causes a customer to be loyal.

Our house has never been able to keep warm when it gets sub-zero outside (my husband has lived in the house 20+ years). We always thought it was because we didn't have enough radiators. At one point our thermostat read 54 degrees in our dining room. By the next day our house was warm, even in the hallway and bathroom which are over a walkway! I particularly appreciated how much time they spent explaining the problem with the system and the solution in the midst of a cold snap with another appointment to get to.

When I called them they came out within a day or so. They corrected my furnace issues. They explained all issues I have now and could have in the future. I appreciated their service.

Got home from work and the house was freezing. Furnace would start the cycle and then shut down. Called them up and they arrived within the time specified. Ran a few tests, determined the problem and fixed it. Time of call until resolution was 4 hours. I am writing the review in a warm house. Thanks so much!!!

It was wonderful. They were very prompt and got it scheduled. He was very nice, efficient, and checked everything. He also gave us suggestions on flushing the drain to prevent condensation. He was here about 45 minutes and my furnace works great.

The tech arrived within 30 minutes of my call saying it was 80 degrees downstairs. He figured out the problem and had things up and running in no time. Great that we had a coupon from Angie's List too!
