Everything was A+!
Description of Work: new toilet, new stack, replaced old pipes, took two days as old pipes started leaking after replacing the toilet. had to come back to replace the stack and add new piping. also discovered pipe in kitchen leaking and needed replaced after only ten years. New visit on April 5, 2016, to fix a different problem. They fixed the problem noted after January visits and everything is now hunky-dory! The plumber, CHUCK, is very competent and concerned that the customer is satisfied with his work. He did an excellent job!

Description of Work: They tried to overcharge me for a job that didnt even need to be done. I called for a clogged tub and they said I needed all new piping. Several other plumbers told me that the pipes were fine and even if they needed to be replaced the cost wouldnt be nearly as much as this company wanted to charge me.

Description of Work: They came in to fix the issue with our boiler system. It kept leaking water through the pressure release valve no matter what we did. They came out and knew exactly what was wrong and fixed it right away. They also got one of our broken radiators to work while they were here. Awesome company, will definitely use them as my plumber from now on.

this visit did not go to my liking. first, the receptionist called me at 8:00am on Wednesday morning to tell me that the plumber would be out around lunch time and that she would call me when he was on his way. i thought this was great because it gave me a chance to jump into the shower before his arrival. to my surprise as soon as I got out of the shower my doorbell was ringing. i hurried up and threw on some clothes and ran to the door. when i opened the door, he was on his cellphone and did not introduce himself. i thought that was unprofessional. he did wear protective cloths over his shoes inside my home. when i looked surprised that I did not receive a phone call prior to his arrival from his receptionist, i told him that i thought someone would be calling me before you arrived and he acted as if he didn't know what i was talking about. he said, "well didn't she call you this morning to tell you i would be out around lunchtime? next, i told him about the gas leak we had on sunday, feb. 23 and how the gas company said we needed a new valve and something to do with the adapter that runs from the stove to hose. he looked at it for a few minutes and said, " you need a new valve and i can do that. i will make sure it has an automatic shutoff etc.". he gave an estimated price and i said YES. let's do whatever we need to do to get this fixed. he then proceeded to ask me when i needed it done? i thought to myself, "well isn't he out here to do it today?" "why didn't he come prepared to fix it today?" i said to him, ASAP. i have a 2 month old baby boy and a gas leak is very scary in itself. i then showed him the leak we are having with our cast iron plumbing pipes down in my basement. i told him what was going on and how we noticed about 3 or 4 weeks ago water leaking from the corner where the central nervous system of the plumbing is located. the water leaking onto the basement floor was the color blue. we realized that it must be the water coming from the toilets. i told the plumber that i actually flushed the toilets in our home while my husband looked with his flashlight to see exactly where the water was coming from. it was coming from one of the pipes that looked to have already been replaced before because it is not cast iron. the plumber barely looked at where i told him it was coming from. he barely looked at the pipes at all---no i mean literally 10 minutes tops!! he told me that the base was leaking and that he wouldn't be able to pinpoint exactly where the water was coming from without taking out my dishwasher up in my kitchen, removing my cabinet and tearing out a portion of the wall and ceiling to get to the pipes. i immediately was shocked. i asked him if he was going to have to do that all the way up to my second floor and he said he wouldn't know until he got in and assessed the situation. he was took a few measurements by memory with his tape measure and said he would have to get back to me on an estimate for that work. i am not a plumber, but i think he estimate was not thorough. how does he know that the leak isn't minor and could be fixed from where i showed him it was coming from? why would he have to rip down walls to get to pipes that aren't leaking? i mean if they are leaking, i think my walls would have water stains, etc. i felt like i was being rushed, like he was in a hurry. i've had estimates from roofers and electricians and they have took more time giving me an estimate than this plumber did. he was not professional at all. his cell phone went off a few times while i was trying to talk to him. at one point i wanted to say, " do you want to take that?" he also noticed that our shut off valve for our gas dryer hook up was not capped off because we use our dryer with electricity. he jokingly said, " i might see you on the 5 o'clock news if you don't get that fixed." that is not funny to me. my home blowing up is not a joke to me. when i hire people to come into my home and do work for me, the jokes stay at the door and the professionalism comes rolling in. i was very surprised because this plumber has good ratings on angle's list. i was not impressed at all. after he took the measurements with his tape measure, he asked if i had any other questions and was beginning to leave when he realized he didn't put my stove back in it's rightful place. he did do that. as he was running out the door, i felt i had more concerns that i didn't' express so i asked. i said, "where the pipe is leaking is right up against the foundation of the house which is wood. i asked, " do you think it's going to be a problem with water leaking onto the wood foundation?" and he was like?."um i don't think so?" he then told me that he would have his receptionist call us that day, wednesday, feb. 26 to set up an appointment for him to come back out either thursday, feb. 27 or friday, feb. 28. We never received a call yesterday or today. in fact, i got so fed up waiting for someone to call that i had my husband call them and tell them that we would no longer be needing their services and that we would mail them their check for the $55.00 fee they charge for coming out. so unprofessional to not even call back in a timely fashion. i know my gas leak isn't the biggest money maker for them, but as a customer, i think i would deserve a little more respect and courtesy.

Response was good. The plumber himself was nice enough. I needed someone to figure out why our tub was draining slow (which he snaked and that resolved that), the second request was to add a shutoff to the waterline behind the fridge.

Our 28 yr old heat pump stopped working. He was the only one to suggest a hybrid system. He was the only one also that was able to use existing peripherals. Everything was done in a very neat manner. All workers involved were very professional, punctual and no additional costs appeared. Pricing was as given. We can not say enough about our experience with Mark and his team. We would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Replaced an existing heat pump with a hybrid heat pump & gas furnace and associated duct work. Also, replaced an electric hot water tank w/ a tankless gas hot water heater.

We had been trying to find a plumber who could check over all of our new plumbing and perform a pressurized "ball test" on our plumbing system before we got a final inspection done by the health department. After being blown off by many plumbers, we finally found Mark. Everything was perfect from the start. As soon as I called in to the main office, I was greeted by Sandy, who was extremely pleasant and very nice to deal with. She called me back when she said she would and we scheduled the first appointment for Mark to come and look at our system. The day he came out, he came right on time and looked at our plumbing and told us a few things that would needed to be changed in order to pass the inspection. So, we did those things and then called Sandy again to schedule Mark to come out a 2nd time to do the actual ball test. Once again, Mark came exactly on time and set up the test for us and for the inspector to see. The inspection went well, and Mark actually called later to ask how the inspection went. I would not hesitate to call him again for any plumbing needs we may have in the future.

Had A.C. that would not work. Called for them to fix--Mark said he did not know what was wrong with the A.C. then asked to look at my furnace. When I showed him, he informed me that it was leaking Carbon Monoxide and needed to be replaced. I replied that that was odd, since my CO detector was not going off. He was trying to sell and clearly pregnant woman an entirely new a.c. and furnace, when all that needed to be replaced was the a.c. motor, as replaced by another company.

Response from Mark Allen Plumbing & Heating
I am very sorry that you did not understand what I was trying to tell you. I explained that the condensing fan motor, blade and capacitor needed replaced and I only suggested that the unit was old and it might not be worth putting money into it. I then left it up to you to decide how you wanted to proceed. I looked at your furnace to see if it could handle a new a/c and recommended that you have a CO detector because the furnace was old. I never charged you for the call, and I felt as though I was being very helpful by taking my time to point these things out to you. I am sorry to see that you were unhappy with my diagnoses and advice. Sorry for the delayed response, I only recently learned of this and that I was there, the initial call was in your wife's name. I took him to court. The judge gave me $400 out of $3700. I am not very happy with that. My house is now warm, but I am now out of money. It was a bad job. He is the one who sold me the first electric heater.
Description of Work: I needed a whole new heating system. He did that through the attic. He charged me $9,000 which is a lot of money. This work was done in June of 2006. By October it was getting very cold even with the heat on. I complained, he came by, but he did not do anything. The whole Winter was terrible. The following year I had to buy a new electric heater. This past November I had someone else come in to redo the job completely. Everything was wrong. This cost me an extra $3200. The system nows works. I made a complaint to the attorney general.
