Down & Out Tree & Stump Svc

Description of Work: Overall I was happy with the service and I think they did a very good job. I would use them again, however there was some lack of responsiveness in returning my calls and in finalizing the job. Maybe these problems could have been avoided by my insisting on specific scheduling. I had one large tree removed and a second trimmed back by 2/3 when I was expecting it to be trimmed back by 1/3. If that severe of a trim does not cause problems with the tree I am ok with it. I guess that was some kind of miscommunication. I also contracted to have the stump removed, but they were unable to do that until about a month later. I was anxious to get it removed in order to get some new planting started, but had some problem getting them to tell me when it could be done.

Description of Work: Left a message stating we wanted an estimate. They called the next day and said they would visit and leave in estimate in the door.After a week, we are still waiting for an estimate.

Description of Work: During one of our recent storms, several branches of one of my oak trees fell into my neighbors driveway and yard. My neighbor contacted Down and Out Tree and Stump Service to remove the fallen branches. They provided my neighbor with an estimate of $75 for the removal of the few tree branches. Upon seeing that these branches fell and seeing that Down and Out presented to remove the branches, I requested the bill be sent to me. When Down and Out was clearning the branches, I requested an estimate on removal of the tree from which the branches fell. I was told that I should have an estimate in a day or two. Eight days after the request, a written estimate was left in my front door. The estimate was excessively high at $800. Further, I am uncertain what the estimate was actually for since another company removed the diseased tree one day after I requested the estimate from Down and Out. I do not know what tree Down and Out planned on removing from my yard. I was at home the time they left the estimate, however, they did not contact me to inquire which tree needed to be removed. As I indicated, another company STS Stump Removal / Grabowski Landscaping removed the tree one day later for the sum of $350. Overall, Down and Out is overpriced and incompetent.

Description of Work: We had two very large pine trees that had overgrown their space so they needed to be removed. One of the trees was 24 inches in diameter and just three feet for the rear corner of our house and overhung our new air conditioner unit. The other pine was just eight feet farther away for the first and even taller but was just a few feet from my neighbor's house. I was very concerned about the removal of these trees being so close to the house and my neighbor's but was reassured by the professional crew that arrived to do the job that it not be a problem for them. My wife and I watched as the team worked exceptionally well together methodically dropping each branch and each of the larger extremely heavy sections of the tree trunks safely and preciscely where they wanted them to fall. Once they started working I knew I made the right decision on choosing Down & Out. They also removed a few big branches from a lager maple tree that were overhanging our house. Those branches were removed without any concern on my part due to the high level of professionalism demonstrated by the Down & Out crew. After doing all the the cutting they ground the stumps and had a small loader on hand to clean up the mess. They completely raked and leveled the dirt in the entire work area picking up all the debris. They even used a blower to blow any dirt or dust generated from the job off of all of our sidewalks, patios, driveway, and street on the side of my house. They removed two big trees and left my yard looking amazing with no signs of the two big trees having been there. I was extremely pleased with the level of service I received and the professionalism of the crew they have. I will, without hesitation, recommend them for any tree removal that you need to have done.
