I saw an advertisement for them in one of the local newspapers. They were local; I would prefer to hire local people when I can. I called them, and they seemed very receptive and worked around my schedule. The price was better than I anticipated. I would rate them highly and would recommend them to others.

Quote given in person, and then mailed. No surprises. Crew arrived with enough people to finish the job(s) on time and as noted clean up the entire area, even a neighbors yard when some small branches fell there. Great group of professionals

Down and Out are so busy that it takes a long time to get on their schedule (especially after all the wind storms and resulting damage in 2010), but they are definitely worth the wait. They are the least expensive tree service that I have used, and I will never use another. They have done a lot of work for me - this last time they were removing trees in 20 degree weather. They are professional in every way, and work is always done as requested. I will gladly get on their waiting list the next time I need any tree work done!

Very professional and courteous. Brian and his crew of about 5 guys showed up with nice equipment, got the job done and cleaned up in a couple of hours. Good job cleaning up. They were all nice to work with. My only problem was hooking up with him at first to get a quote. Took quite a while to connect, but once we did, I have no complaints about the experience.

Deserving of an "A" rating. Prices were reasonable.

The work was done well but it took months to get them to show up and do it. The work is quality but don't expect it to be done timely unless it is a big job. Work was rescheduled many times before completion.

Brian estimated the work, then did it the next day. Everything was smooth. We have used this company before with excellent results.

We were very pleased with the job that Brian and his crew did for us. It took three or four days to get the estimate, but once I left a message saying I'd like them to do the job they got in touch, said they would be out the next week, came a few days later and very quickly had the tree "down and out" for the price quoted (which was the same amount as my insurance was paying). They did a nice job with the stump and the clean up; they even took down a small decorative bird house that had been hanging from one of the branches and left it on the porch.

Contractor returned call immediately, gave estimate, and performed work very quickly. Work was good quality, price was fair, and I would use him again.

Company was prompt and arrived with a full team of workmen and equipment. Work was done expertly and as discussed. I did show some concern that a couple trees seemed to be trimmed rather severely, but it was explained to me that it was for the good of the tree to let in sunlight and create photosynthesis. But if I wanted less trim, he would do whatever I wanted. I acceded to the expert. Clean up was superb. They were so efficient and professional, a neighbor came and asked them if they had time to do some trimming for them. Which they graciously accommodated.

We received multiple bids on the first two and they were the lowest. Didn't bother bidding out the third job. In every case, they were fairly responsive compared to peers and did a great job, including cleanup of debris following completion.

There was a very bad storm that knocked my power out for 10 hours. In the first big blast of wind, about half of a large locust tree went down in my driveway. I knew that by morning all tree services would be overloaded. My computer connection was down, but I was able to use my cell phone to access the list and pull up tree services rated "A". I called Down and Out because they were the closest. Despite the late hour, my call was answered immediately by a live human being, who said a crew would be out in the morning. I asked them to tell me whether the rest of the tree was worth salvaging, and to evaluate the one next to it. The next morning they were slightly late due to sheer number of down trees. But they arrived within 30 minutes of the designated time. They told me that both trees were rotten (which I suspected) and showed me the fungal growths on the branches that were evidence. I told them to take both out. They said it would be $600 to remove both trees or $750 to remove both trees and both stumps. I chose to take out the stumps. They immediately removed the downed branches from my driveway so I could get my car out and go to work. When I arrived home, everything was cleaned up and it looked as if I'd had a landscaper redo that part of the yard. Because of weather I didn't have my Christmas lights down yet, and there was a solar set on the bush under the fallen branches. The workers kindly removed the lights and solar panel for me.

We were really happy with the service that this company did. Their price was very competitive and they did a real good clean up job and they did a little extra than what they had quoted on.

We have used them several times before. They are great to work with and my wife and I really like them. They are the only ones we'll call.

The company was referred to me by the company doing some landscaping work. The company provided me with an estimate to do the work, which they performed for the amount quoted. The company showed up promptly to do the work when promised.

They were good with the removal of our tree, but they cracked a large table which was near some branches they were trimming for us. They had removed the top of the table, but left the tables base and a tree fell on the tables base which cracked it. They didnt deny what happened and offered to take $100 off our bill, but it was just disappointing that this happened since the table is not easily replaceable. They also damaged our 80 year old staircase. They werent as careful as they could have been however, the stairway was at an awkward place in our yard. They were efficient. Before they came out to do the work, they didnt call us back a couple of times and they just showed up for the job but, I would probably use them again in the future.

I was real happy with them. The price was very reasonable. We have had them many times.
