Down & Out Tree & Stump Svc

I spoke with someone on the phone about getting an estimate to remove an 18 to 20 inch pine tree stump. The tree was within 20 feet of the street. Within 2 days, I had an estimate of $150.00 on my doorknob. I called and quot;Down and Outand quot; back to confirm having the job done. They said they would try to get it done within 30 days, stating it was their busy time of the year. They called me about a week later and said they were in the area and could be there that morning. I said that would be fine. I wanted to see the tree stump removal being done, because someone had told me the roots should be cleared at least 10 inches deep. They did a fantastic job! I was so impressed! The equipment they used went a lot deeper than 10 inches. The workers were thorough and cleaned the area perfectly after removing the waste. It took 10 or 15 minutes. I was very pleased.

Excellent response to quote request. Very professional, very friendly. Would not hesitate to call again. Another quote came in a small fraction cheaper so I had to go with other company.

In a word, FANTASTIC work and service. Did a great job cleaning up after they were done. Easy to work with.

Actually, absolutely nothing happened because the service did not call me back after I left a message indicating a need for their services to support the removal of dead and dying ash trees in my borough. The other provider called me back that evening (the same day I left messages for both providers) and we set up a meeting the following Sunday. This provider you are asking me to rate must be too busy to be bothered responding. It's too bad, they came highly recommended by a neighbor who used their services.

Hard working, reasonably priced, expert crew and plan to have them back to do additional work. Yard was filled with branches and trees from cuttings and they cleaned up every leaf and chipped all debris. Nice to know there are still contractors with integrity these days.

They are great to work with. I would definitely use them again. Their pricing is very reasonable.

I called for an estimate for tree trimming services and was told that they would get back to me. After almost 2 weeks I called to find out when they would be coming out to my home to give me an estimate. I received a call back late in the day that they had been out to our home already and determined that they could not handle the job. I have no problem with their honesty about completing the work, however I am upset that they had no intention of calling me back. I only got a response when I called asking why it was taking so long to come out to our home to look at the scope of work. In my mind this is very unprofessional and I would not recommend or use their services in the future.

The team of four showed up at 9 am as promised and worked all day to complete the job which included removal of a 45 ft pine tree. They cleaned up the entire area removing any sign that there were ever trees and (overgrown) shrubs anywhere on the property.

Down and Out was able to complete the work within one week from the time we called. We were told that our job would be fit into their schedule and we would be called same-day. That worked fine for us. We received a call at 8:00am on 9/28/12 and they were in our yard starting the work at 10:30am that day. They got right to work trimming branches around the wires and removing the oak tree branch first. They worked in our yard all day with a break for lunch. The work was completed around 3:30 or 4:00pm that day. They cleaned up/mulched all debris as they worked and raked the work area after the job was completed. The area was very even (no holes left behind where the stumps were) and the yard was left looking very clean. We paid for the services at the completion of the work and we were VERY satisfied. Many of our neighbors commented about how much better the yard looks now and several were impressed with the efficiency of the work done. One extra note: Our neighbor had a tree in his backyard with one large, dying branch. He asked Down and Out to look at it. They gave him an estimate and were able to remove the branch within 5 minutes of the consultation. My neighbor was very pleased with the price and the service.

This company did a great, professional job for a very reasonable price. I called on a Friday afternoon to request an estimate. On Monday, Brian stopped over and left me the estimate. The price was very reasonable and was the lowest I had received. I called on Tuesday to request they do the job and they came out two days later to do the work. I appreciated Brian getting to to job so quickly, especially since I had a fallen tree in my yard. They did way more than I was expecting. The area they were working in was very overgrown and they really cleared it out. It looks great! They cleaned up my yard well when they were finished. The workers seemed professional and courteous and did a great job. I would definitely use Down and Out again.

Arrived promptly. Professional and polite. Did anything and everything we wanted done and then some. When job was complete, they cleaned up everything. Our yard looked fantastic. Clean and manicured. Constantly checked with us to make sure things were being done to our expectation. Price was extremely fair. We have used them in the past and will continue to use them in the future. Highly recommend! They set a very, very high standard from ownership to employees.

Work was done promptly, professionally, and within the estimate provided (which was the lowest of 5 I received). The owner was patient and responsive when we asked for a second visit from him to add items to the original estimate. We were able to do this when we realized how reasonable his prices were. The work took 2 days and after the 1st, I was pleasantly surprised at how they cleaned up as if it was their only day there. The owner was kind and thankful for us choosing his company as we were thankful for the job this company did. I will certainly use this company again.

The tree branches needed to be trimmed away from the house. The tree is in my back yard which can't be accessed by a bucket truck. Employee had to climb tree to trim branches. Difficult job done well. I was very impressed with the clean up. Very thorough.

I left a voice mail for the company, a representative returned my call. I provided information on the work I needed to have done, and I gave the person my address. She responded that an estimate would be provided, but this did not occur.

We have been using them for tree removal over the last two decade. I use them because they do such a good job and clean up.

I was very impressed. I called for an estimate and they came within two days. I then called to hire them and when they arrived they were very professional and did a wonderful job.

They were very nice. I live on a hill, so they couldn't bring the machine. When they couldn't do the work, they were nice enough to call me and let me know and recommend somebody else. I came to know them because they happened to have some job next door to me. They were very professional, punctual and very courteous. They responded quickly. They did everything amazingly. I would absolutely use them again in the future if necessary.

Both trees required someone to climb. One trunk of a twinned- trunk tree was secured from above, cut off near the base and then in 3' - 4' pieces. The second was located in a relatively limited space between two houses. Branches were cut and dropped to the ground. We did lose a shrub but had no major damage.

I called Friday morning, estimate was done Friday evening, service done on Sunday. He was very quick to respond. After he was done, he had my wife and I inspect the area to be sure we were happy. He did an excellent job.

Very well! The crew arrived at 8:05 a.m. and was completely through with everything except the stump grinding (done later in the day) by 9:20. The crew needed to put the bucket truck on the lawn, and carefully arranged mats -- even around my flowers -- to avoid leaving tire tracks in the lawn. They were very polite and personable. They transported the massive lower trunk with a winch to the dump truck but had to manoeuvre it around a telephone pole and under electrical wires. I was very impressed with how well they managed it. Two crew members returned later in the day to grind the stump. We have had Down and Out do tree work for us for many years and they always do a fantastic job!

Located Down and Out Tree and Stump Service through Angie's list on 8/12/2011. Called them prior to 8/16/2011. Spoke to Sue Y. about arranging a date for an estimate. She stated that they would call when they would be in the area within a day or two. She was extremely professional and courteous. On 8/16/2011, we received a call that they would be in the area in the early evening hours. Can't remember exact time that they arrived but Kenny came to the door while the driver located a parking space. Went up to the alley at top of property to show him the two trees and the other shrub that was close to our neighbor's property and explained what we wanted done. Explained to him that due to the high winds in our area we feared that the trees would fall on someone or something within time. He promptly gave us a written estimate and explained that it would be three weeks before the work could be done. We were also waiting for a bid from another company so the delay did not bother us. It was extremely professional of him to let us know what the wait period would be. After reviewing the bids, we went with Down and Out . Both companies were reasonable but when Down and Out told us exactly how long the wait could be, that impressed me. I called them to get on the schedule and was again told of the timeline. I called the office last week to let them know when we were going out of town and was told that they would have the job done before we left. I explained why I needed a call prior to them coming. I received a call Sunday evening from Brian Y., the owner, stating that the crew would be at my house around 8:30 a.m. Kenny arrived a little bit early and informed me that the rest of the crew would be there shortly. When they arrived, they quickly went to work. Kenny went up in the bucket and promptly started to do the trimming and cutting while the crew was quickly taking the cuttings and tree trunks to the shredder. The crew was very professional and courteous and they worked at a steady pace. In just a couple of hours, all of the work was completed and the area was cleaned. I am very satisified and would use them again. The price was very reasonable. The company is very professional and courteous and would highly recommend them.

They came early and the big old stump was removed quickly. This was our second time using this company and they always do a good job. One thing, although I praised them for their price the last time I was a bit annoyed this time because they quoted $200 but then charged $250. Can't complain too much about this because even $250 was less than I had expected it to be. But it is always a little annoying when a company charges more than they quoted. Overall they were once again wonderful!

This was 2 years ago and I didn’t know about angieslist then so I wasn’t able to give a review back then. We have them scheduled to come today for a stump removal which made me think of going on here and giving them a stellar review for the tree removal they did for us 2 years ago. They came on time, removed the trees in record time. No problems no hassle. AND we had gotten estimates from 3 other tree removal places got quotes between $1100 - $1700! I was blown away. That made me a bit wary about hiring Down and Out because I couldn’t believe how much less they charged and thought it seemed weird and I almost went with one of the more expensive companies, but I had a budget to keep to. Well, they proved that you can still get quality work done at a reasonable price. I’ll write another review later after the stump is removed today. I expect it will also be a good review.

We have used them seven times. They are on time, they do a good job and they cleanup. We would use them again in the future.
