Middle of the night boiler failure. Did come out the next day but took over a week to get the part (so had to go live at the in-laws.) Overall, they were good and we've used them this year for routine maintenance

My wife and I had recently had a very positive experience with ECI, and the most outstanding feature we noticed about this company is that they are technically excellent. We initially sought a bid from ECI because they had done a great job installing a high-velocity central air system in the house of two of our closest friends. After several other HVAC companies had told our friends that it was impossible for a high velocity system to provide cooling for two of the rooms in their 1920 Dutch colonial on the mainline, ECI figured out a way to do it and left them with a house which, I think, is perfectly air-conditioned in every room. In the case of the small Victorian twin that my wife and I have just purchased, when our ECI salesman, Randy, after a thorough assessment, told us that it was not practical to install a similar high-velocity system in our house, we were initially sad; he took the time to carefully explained to us the technical reasons why a central air system would not be the best idea (reasons which made total sense) and then introduced us to a better solution—for which my wife and I are now very, very grateful—which are ductless mini-splits units (called Mr. Slim) made by Mitsubishi. Randy gave us an excellent introduction to both the advantages and downsides of ductless mini-splits and left us with a brochure. My wife and I then did our own research and also sought bids from two other companies. The other companies independently came to the same conclusion that ductless mini-splits were the way to go for our particular house, but it was ECI’s excellent installation manager, Bill, who came up with the most educated configuration and placement of units. This impressed us, and in addition ECI made the best effort in making sure that the proposed configuration met the requirements for the IRS tax credit, and they also gave us the best price considering the overall size and capacity of the units. Since then we have not been disappointed. The installation was clean and professional. Shawn, the chief mini-split installation technician, was young, serious, and smart. When there were decisions to be made about the installation, both Bill and Shawn carefully explained to us what was technically possible and not possible, and collaborated with us to make the best overall decisions both aesthetically and technically. Shawn and his team worked very well together and took careful care of our 1888 property; they made every effort to minimize the impact of the system on the exterior appearance of our house and on the structure itself. When the team ran into a technical snag putting the connections for our 3rd floor unit within and through our complicated Mansard roof, Darren, one of the other technical managers, did an excellent job installing this part of the system with minimal damage to our property. We have had the system for two weeks and it works amazingly well, and our house is now perfectly comfortable. For both central air system (e.g., high velocity, package systems) or ductless mini-spits (which are energy efficient, whisper quiet, multi-zoned, provide heating and cooling, and work wonderfully), based on our experience and our friends’ experience, my wife and I would therefore strongly recommend ECI. Just make sure that you let them know exactly what you want, and this company will figure out a way to deliver an excellent installation.

ECI installed air conditioning in our old three-story twin, which has radiators. ECI came in with an estimate that was close to two other estimates, but ECI handled more high velocity installations than the others. ECI worked with us on figuring out a layout of certain things in advance of the installation. We worked to minimize the soffits we would have to later install. It took a week to install the air conditioning including the ductwork, compressor, air handler, and zoning equipment. The workers were very professional and respectful of our property. They cleaned up each day after themselves so that you never would have known they were there. It was like a miracle when the AC was first turned on. They had to come out a week later to make some adjustments, but overall it works very well. There is an even, cool, dry temperature throughout the house, which was impossible with window units. We had the third floor zoned separately since we do not use it as often and can keep the thermostat up there at a higher temperature. Overall, we are very pleased with ECI and would highly recommend them to anyone considering adding high velocity in an older home. Bring on the hot weather!
