David P Giel Garage Doors

The company was very prompt in response time, both in answering the phone, coming to the house for estimate as promised and starting work on time. They did an excellent job as we haven't have one problem in 3 years that would involve a call back. It took me a while to review this company as I just thought of it now when I researched Angie's List for a contractor for another project. I wouldn't hesitate calling Dave Giel again, although I think the garage doors he installed with be with us for quite some time!

It took almost a month to get it installed but it was worth the wait. Two people worked on the door. i had an old garage door so it took them longer than usual to removed the old door. They did a great job installing the new door and they show me how to operate the door and the controls. They also cleaned the work area really well. Our new garage door looks good and works very well. We are very satisfied with their work.

The door jammed half way shut on Saturday at 4 p.m. David himself called us that evening and assured us that someone would be there first thing on Monday morning, and the technician was there as promised. He quickly diagnosed all the problems, which apparently included more than twisted brackets. He oiled everything, replaced several pieces and rebalanced the door to open and close smoothly. There was a duplicate billing issue weeks later but it was quickly straightened out and we are very pleased and absolutely recommend David and his team. Expert service and very reasonable prices.

David suggested to use an almost new door available in the shop from a customer return. The reason was to save on the cost compared to a new door. However, his door was of a different color than I needed and the cost he cited was actually not much lower than for a new door estimate from another company. I decided to go with another company. But I had a good experience with David anyway.

David was curtious, on-time, efficient, and friendly. I talked to him on a Saturday morning and expected him to come to the house the following week but he came within an hour, gave me a reasonable estimate, and completed the job in less than an hour. We also enjoyed conversing with David on multiple subjects.

They were great. They did a very good job. They were out here really fast. They were here within a week of me calling them though it was not an emergency. They were fast and they were working away in the cold when it was about 15 degrees. I thought the price they charged me was also reasonable. The price included the charge for the opener as well. I had a very good experience with them.

A very positive experience. Dave Giel returned my call within a couple of hours, and came to the house the very same day. I was expecting the expense of having to replace the entire opener. He quickly diagnosed that "just the master gear needed to be replaced". I was impressed that he didn't try to sell me what I didn't need. He gave me the cost, and the amount of time that it would take to replace it (20-25 minutes). I agreed, and the work was completed at a very reasonable price, and in the amount of time quoted. He was professional, courteous, and I would highly recommend him to anyone!

Mr. Giel returned my call promptly, and arrived that afternoon. He quickly diagnosed that the garage door spring had broken, and repaired it quickly. I found him to be trustworthy, and though $90.00 seemed a bit steep I don't know what the going rates are. I would contact him again.

I logged on to Angie's List, found this business with reports all filed with A's... I called at 3:50 pm. He called me about 15 minutes later to tell me that he could actually stop over later if I would be home. I told him to come on over! He arrived on time and took about 30 seconds to look around, then gave me a quote and asked me to move my car out of the garage. He was done quickly, then tested everything a few times.... this looks like the same beast I've lived with for years, but it sure has better manners now! Great job. He even tells good stories if you stick around! :)

I called for a few estimates and David had the most competitive price, so I asked him to come out. He said that he was doing some work in the area and wondered if I was flexible with my schedule. I told him yes, as long as it was around lunch time. He said he would call me within a couple of days, and sure enough, the next day, he gave me a call and met me at the house around lunch time. From the research I had done, I knew my spring was not a common one, but, sure enough, he had the spring on his truck ready to go. He took about an hour to do the job, and also cleaned and lubed both doors. He told me a little bit about my doors and gave me some maintenance tips. To date, the door is functioning properly without any problems. Overall, the experience was positive, and I would definitely use him again.

David was on time, friendly, and professional.

David was professional and helped fix many challenging problems with our garage door in one afternoon for a very reasonable price. He also included a 90 day service warranty on his work. I would definitely call him again.

It went very well. I called Weds evening after 5 pm. Mr. Giel returned my call the next morning. He performed the repair Friday morning, at my earliest convenience. He was very pleasant, and worked efficiently. He even backed the car out of the garage for me.

Responsive, came out as scheduled. Replaced both torsion springs on garage door in less than an hour. Only one spring was broken and he would have replaced just that one for half the price if I wanted to keep the cost down. Also lubricated hinges and rollers on all three garage doors. Nice guy to deal with; would definitely call again with garage door problems.

David originally thought he'd have to do it the next day, but called me when he found room in his schedule and came the same day I called. He worked quickly, explained what he was doing, and was pleasant.

He is very nice and the work turned out well. I am very happy and would recommend them to others. The work did not take long, but I love the door. They are very friendly as well. It was a good experience.

This was not an emergency situation so I was pleased that he was out here so promptly, only a day or so after I called. He was good about using the spare parts already on hand. I'm thinking about having him come out once a year to give the doors a tune-up.

Dave's crew called because they had another person cancel. They moved my appointment up and they showed up when they said they would. They completed the work ahead of schedule, and everything is absolutely perfect. These guys have been doing this for a long time, and they know what they are doing.

The repair was done the same day! The garage door mechanism was damaged at 8 am; the door wouldn't close, and I had to leave town for work in a couple days. I called at noon and the garage door was fixed and working great when I got home from work at 5:30 pm. I couldn't be more pleased with the service, from the personal response when I first called, to the call with an estimate when the gentlemen came to fix the damage. In addition to fixing the damage, this company serviced the unit - it's now working better than before. They also include a 90 day guarantee on the work. This is a company that understands customer satisfaction.

The service went very well. I got a good feeling that he stands behind his work quite well. I have referred him to others.

Called his company to fix the broken door during the Christmas break holidays. He came by and fixed it very reasonably - spent a couple of hours to fix exactly what is broken. Whereas others (such as Precision Garage) who came by recommended replacing the whole door for a whole lot more $$.

Mostly very good -- difficult to coordinate when he was going to come. He happened to drop by earlier than we expected, but we were home and he was able to do the work immediately.

I called David Giel to discuss evaluating the garage doors in the house we had just bought. I got his answering service and left a message. Rather than call back, he came over to the house. (Very effective when working a sucker play and it worked on me.) He opened each of the 2 garage doors using the buttons on the wall mounted automatic openers. He also visually inspected the doors. He then said he would install containment cables for the spring and lubricate the doors for $80. I had no idea what containment cables were but already had known from the house inspection that I did need them. I also took on faith that Mr. Giel was providing a reasonable price. He seemed like a nice guy. A containment cable is a straight stiff wire length that is placed through the garage door spring and then fastened at the ends by winding each end of the cable around a convenient part of the garage door support. Mr. Giel went to his truck, came back with the cables and placed all 4 of them in about 2 minutes. He then produced a can of spray lubricant and sprayed the garage door hinges, another 30 seconds. The can of lubricant was like WD-40. Mr. Giel said it was better. My guess is that it is cheaper. I gave Mr. Giel his $80 feeling that this was not exactly right but I didn?t say anything. However, it was still bothering me a few days later so I called Mr. Giel and told him I thought the charge was too high. He said it was the right charge and given his expertise, it looked easier to do than it really was. Now I over my lifetime, I have moved many times and have had occasion to contract professionals to remodel kitchens, refinish floors, paint, lay tile, etc. I have also done most of these myself. Comparing my work with the professionals, I consistently come to a greater respect for the quality of the professional?s work, the level of skill attained by the professional and the level of physical effort to do the work. In this garage door case, if the work had been done by anyone between the ages of 15 and 75 doing it for the first time, then I expect the result to be indistinguishable from the work done by Mr. Giel. I concede that someone doing it for the first time might take as long as 10 minutes instead of 3 minutes. Skill is worth money. Time is worth money. Neither was required here.

Excellent. I called the office and told the very courteous office manager that I was looking for a replacement garage door opener with accessories. Within an hour Dave Geil called from my driveway (I was at work, and he was in the area on another job). He told me what I needed, the cost, and left me a written estimate with brochure for the model. I called back the next day to schedule, and he returned the call that same day saying they would be in the area the following day. As I did not have to be home (they only needed garage access), they completed the work while I was at work. They left the garage cleaner than I'd left it, and new door operates flawlessly. Note: I had used this company before on my old home, though it has been 10+ years; I was also quite satified then.

The guide wire broke so we called Dave about fixing it. He came out the next day and repaired the wire.
