Shechtman Tree Care

These guys did a very good job. Their estimate was lower than another Angie's List "A" rated company and they did the work for the estimated price. They removed bees several times before and after the removal of a large dead oak tree. They completely cleaned up. We will use them again in the fall to clean up many other trees.

It went quite smoothly. The price was about what we expected from previous work we'd had done by another company. I met with Rob Sawyer, who has an impressive resume in the tree business. He originally told me that they were a few weeks backed-up, but, when he had a sudden rescheduling a few days later, he fit me in because he knew I was concerned about the dead branches falling on my daughter and because other branches from the mulberry, primarily, were scraping my roof. He arrived with his team the next morning and explained to them what was to be done and then he left. His team were all competent and approachable. They confirmed with me on a couple of finer points as they went, and obliged me with a pile of woodchips for my wife's garden. They not only cleaned up all the tree debris with rakes and leafblowers before they left, but they also put my patio furniture back where it had been, along with some of my daughter's outdoor toys. Furthermore, at no point did they litter my front lawn with a self-promoting sign. We were quite pleased with the experience and the results.

Nate and his 2 crew members arrived promptly at the agreed upon time, reviewed with me what need to be done and began working immediately. I had 3 enormous Norwegian Spruce trees to be trimmed of dead branches and for building clearance, a pear tree and crab apple tree needing pruning and thinning, two birch trees that needed dead branch clearing and pruning, a weeping cherry tree that needed treament for canker and bores, along with pruning, and a Japanese Maple that was dying and had to be taken down. They also shaped a 20ft crepe myrtle and a small lilac bush. The team was professional, courteous and very skilled at what they did, paying attention to their own safety and taking great care to protect my house and other shrubbery and plantings. Particular kudos for Nate, who kept his cool and sense of humor after being stung by wasps from the nest they came across in the crab apple tree - not to mention enormous thanks for taking it down and destroying it for me! This team was great and I certainly feel the money was well worth all the work they did. I'd recommend them to anyone.

Had Robert come by to check out my property and give me a cost estimate on some tree work I wanted done. Scheduling was quick and easy-- he returned my initial call within 30 min and we settled on a date and time. He arrived 10 min. early (on-time), was very nice, and extremely professional. He walked me through his vision and then listened to my thoughts for some input. He had some great ideas and it was obvious he knew what he was talking about. I'm a new home owner so it was great to get his professional perspective. His quote was a couple hundred higher than what I was getting from other contractor's, but if not for pricing alone, I felt comfortable enough with him and his expertise to have pulled the trigger. Very nice guy and glad I had him come in to discuss options. I will for sure be calling him for estimates in the future as I have larger scale projects planned.

I felt that the price quoted was fair and that the approximate window of their availability to do the the work was well within time frame for which we were aiming. The person who gave me the estimate was knowledgeable and courteous, His team was very skilled and efficient. I was very impressed and would use them again in the future. I have also recommended them to my son and to other neighbors .

They were very good. We didn't even know that they were there. They were very efficient. The salesman that they sent out was very cordial and professional. Their price was very good compared to some of the other pricing. Their price was good compared to the other several companies I had checked from Angie's List.

Zach arrived promptly to review the proposed work with our requested certificate of insurance showing appropriate liability and workmen's compensation coversge, & emailed a fair estimate later that day . He & his crew showed up to do the tree work on the scheduled date & time, which was accomplished by the end of the day. We were very impressed with Zach & his crew's quality of work and courtesy, and plan to hire them again.

They are very smart, thorough, and clean up after themselves. Bob is a great arborist.

They were prompt, courteous, left my yard (& my neighbors') cleaner than when they arrived. I am 1000% satisfied with their work. The entire process was easy - via phone & email. They arrived when they said they would & did a magnificent job. The workers were skilled and respectful of my property and the adjoining yards. Not one scrap of wood was left behind littering sidewalks, street or yards. I recommend them HIGHLY!!!

Called Shechtman when someone we had called in to estimate another landscaping project described the tree in our hard (and overhanging our neighbor's hard) as a "widowmaker." Zach came the next day and before a week had passed the tree was gone - in addition, while they were there, they pruned another large tree for a very reasonable extra cost. I was surprised with the number of people they used (i.e. they don't skimp on workers) and that it took only one day to do everything - i had been warned that it could take several days and cost up to $5,000, Shechtman did it in one day for $2,000 (plus $600 for pruning the other tree). I was very impressed with their service - thanks for recommending them, Angie!

I thought the company was very responsive and professional. They were also very knowledgable about the vegetation around my house and I appreciated the information. We did go with another Tree Service because the cost was about $500 less than this estimate but I will not rule them out for future work or estimates. If the cost was lower I would have used Shechtman but couldn't justify such a big difference in cost. Good luck!

A three-man crew showed up exactly as scheduled and went immediately to work, Omar went aloft and danced across the branches using a couple of climbing ropes and what looked like an adroit collection of mounteering gear and saws. He was up in the tree for over an hour, removing dead wood and shaping the remaining live branches. It was incredibly interesting to watch. The other two guys hauled the wood to the chipper about as fast as it came down. in a little under three hours they had performed all the requested work, leaving a very satisfactory result. Everyone cooperated in removing ALL the resulting branches, big and small, and leaves from my and my neighbor's yard. This is my third tree project with Schectman's and there will clearly be many more in the future. They are a pleasure to do business with

They were very prompted in providing a detailed written quote. The work was performed exactly as they quoted and they left my yard in very good shape. They were very professional and I would recommend them to others. I had previously hired a friend of a neighbor to do some earlier tree removal work. This was before I joined Angie's List. He claimed to have had experience. And it was a disaster. Working with Shechtman Tree Service was a welcome change.

Robert Sawyer (Arborist Associate) came out and gave me a reasonable price and gave me a date to have work done. He is a very polite person and answered all my questions. Work was done fast and efficient.

They did an excellent job. They showed up on time and were prompt.

A completely unexpected strong gust of wind during a storm blew off the top portion of a 65 foot Tulip tree in my yard...this occured on a Friday night. It landed first on my new aluminum picket fence taking out an entire portion. It then ended up on top of my car. This was a good thing for if it had fallen first on my car it would have totaled it. As it were, little was visible of the car under all the leaves and branches.. So, on a Friday night, I went to Angie's list desperate to remove some of the limbs in order to check the condition of my car. There I discovered Shechtman Tree Service, available 24/7, and a live person who said, he would be out first thing in the A.M. to rescue my car It was a dark as well as a windy night. Yes, the next A.M., it was a Saturday, Zac Shechtman appeared sawed off the limbs and there was my car. it was not totaled but suffered from numerous dents over its entire body. This was a great relief as the car is an XRS Corolla which is no longer available. Then, there is more, on Monday he removed the damaged upper portion of the tulip tree, remember 65 feet up, using a bucket truck, chipped up everything and removed all evidence of the disaster. Thank you Zac for being available and exhibiting such skill in a dangerous situation. There is a happy ending. My ins. company paid me almost $6,000 to remove all the dents from my car.It looks just great.

I will have them back for more work. The experience was fine.

We were very pleased. Hal, who did the estimate, was great with noting our concerns that the trees be pruned carefully so we could get the trees away from the house but maintain our shade garden. (He also showed us how to hand-prune some linden saplings on our street, which we appreciated!) The crew who came out to do the work was professional, courteous, and very hard-working. They consulted us at various points on how much to take off, and left a nice pile of chips at our request. They cleaned everything up perfectly. Importantly, we maintain a beehive under our trees and they were very careful about not disturbing it. The bees were fine and our trees look great!

We found Shechtman's here on Angie's list and liked what we saw. I called and left a detailed message. I was called back the next day and we set up an appointment for an estimate. He was prompt, professional and personable and very respectful of our time. Besides the estimate for the removal, we asked about the other trees in the yard w/ regard to pruning and maintenance and he was very helpful and informative. The day of the actual removal went great, besides being fascinating to watch, the whole team was thorough, speedy and efficient. They cut and stacked the wood we wanted to keep, removed all the other debris and cleaned up all extraneous left overs. Great job and reasonably priced. We will have them back this summer for the rest of the maintenance!

I found him on Angie's List. My backyard was open and I told him to go back there. He came out promptly and gave me an estimate. He was very responsive on the emails and came when he said that he would. He gave a detailed report and did not mind answering questions. He was very helpful. I had to get some other work done before he could cut the trees. I would be using him during the fall season when there would not be any leaves on the trees.

A representative came out fairly quickly and assessed the work. I was told they were 'weed trees' and given a very reasonable estimate for their removal. I was originally given a time frame of two to three weeks (which was fine) but was then called and told the work could be completed that week. The work was done quickly and efficiently, had I not peeked out of the window a few times you'd never know they were there, except for the missing nuisance trees. It was excellent experience on all fronts. I was very happy with the price, but more so with their impeccable job of setting and exceeding expectations for the work.

Their quote was the lowest quote I received and I was very happy with the work. They arrived on time and removed the tree as I requested. They even trimmed a few branches off another tree which I had not requested initially. When they left, the yard was the way they had found it because they cleaned up after themselves and moved back any items they had to move to get to the tree. I would use them again.
