Stan Robinson and Brian Jarvis began Pacific West Roofing in 1980 with the idea that if we produced a roof according to the manufacturers requirements that we would always have work! A novel beginning with 22 employees and 36 years later, the mind set is still working as our company grows. We continue to train our installers to do it right the first time and we continually strive to be the best installers in the Portland Metro area. Stan and Brian are still running it and involved on a daily basis, even out doing repairs to keep a hand in the production side.

Very disappointing experience. We signed up for the $225 gutter & roof debris cleaning deal through Angie's List. The estimate was scheduled for Monday, 11/23, yet on Monday 11/30 we still had not heard back and had to chase down the quote. Finally on 12/1 we received a note quoting $1480 for the project (more than 6x the deal) with no context provided. Upon inquiry for further details we received a very short note saying we were welcome to void the deal and ask for a refund. All in all, Brian clearly was not interested in our business.
Description of Work: Service scheduled was a gutter cleaning and roof debris cleaning.

We got bids from many highly recommended roofers, most of which we researched here. When we met Brian Jarvis, the owner, we immediately liked him. He discussed our options at length, after inspection, he even suggested we could probably get a few more years on our existing roof. Pacific West Roof ing was not the low bid, they were not the high bid. They were classically in the middle. The crew were great and friendly, they did tear off and had installed 2/3rds of the roof on the first day. The second day, actually a few hours, they finished the roof and all the extra flashing. Fast and accurate. Very good clean up. I would recommend them to anyone.

This was fine. I think the gutter cleaning was overpriced. I called them and they couldn't scheduled me and they didn't call to to tell me when they rescheduled. So their availability and communication was very weak.

He took some pictures, showed my the missing tiles and a few that needed fixing. The quote came back with $1000 worth of repairs and cleaning. As I did not need a cleaning, we had just recently had that done, the quote was reduced to about $500. Fix the missing tiles, repair a couple others and replace the booties' around the vents. the $225 would go towards that. Ok fair enough I can do that. It is now October 20, and raining and I still have missing tiles and no one has scheduled my service. They said they are two weeks out. Seeing as I started this process over a month ago I figured I would at least have the courtesy of getting in the line sooner. Totally unacceptable. I will also NEVER buy a package from Angie's list again. this is the second time and both times I have the worse time scheduling and not getting the service I paid for.
Description of Work: I purchased a Roofing package and was was under the impression, reading the description, would cover an inspection and minor repairs. As I had a couple tiles that came off I figured that would be a minor repair and it would be taken care of relatively quickly and told them I would like them fixed before it rains. He inspected the roof...

I contacted Pacific West Roofing for an estimate on roof repairs, moss removal, and gutter cleaning. They were immediately responsive and said they would send an estimate out within a week. A week after the estimator was supposed to look at my home I contacted the company and was told the estimator had looked at my home but had a medical emergency which delayed submission of the estimate. Totally understandable. I was told the estimator would contact me the following week. That week came and went but the estimator never called. He finally did call me the week after and apologized about the delay. Again I said "no problem." He told me he never did get out to see my house but definitely was going that afternoon and he would send me an estimate by end of day. Well, he never did. I don't know if he got out to my house or not but I certainly never received and estimate and I finally gave up.

The appointment to inspect my roof was rescheduled two times by the man Pacific West Roofing assigned to me. When he did fulfill the appointment, I felt very comfortable with his knowledge and expertise. During this appointment, we agreed that he would send me a written proposal to replace my roof and also agreed to inspect siding at my mother in laws house. We were to meet this morning at my mother in law's and when he was 30 minutes late, I called and it was very obvious he forgot about that appointment. I also have yet to receive a bid to replace our roof. I'm confident that Pacific West Roofing is a good company and the man sent to my house is competent. However, missed appointments and no follow through on the bid stops me from doing any business with this company. If my roof is to be replaced, dependability is of the utmost importance.

Stan is just amazing. He really cares about doing a good job. He went way above and beyond the call of duty to help us find the source of water dripping onto the ceiling tiles in our small office. Stan had repaired a leak around the drains in the roof in May. In June when it got hot our tenants called and said there were new leaks that we figured were due to condensation. We were due to go out of the country on vacation but called Stan to see what he could do. Stan determined it was not the roof but an HVAC problem so he took it upon himself to call an HVAC company and schedule them to come out and take a look. He even told the HVAC company to bill him until he could get in touch with us! It was just amazing customer service. When the HVAC company didn't check out the problem to Stan's satisfaction he had them come back out. It is amazing to have someone go to that level of service when it isn't even a roofing problem! We absolutely trust Stan and Pacific West Roofing and highly recommend them. Thank you!

A different company that installed the roof had supposedly been inspecting the roof on a regular basis. When I called the other company about the leak, they came out and slopped some tar and gravel in one corner but didn't look for the source of the leak or fix it. I didn't have much faith in them so that's why I called Pacific West. Stan was terrific! He did a great job of looking for all evidence on the inside of the building to try to determine where the leaks were coming from. He showed us where the drains were and noted that the leaks seemed to be coming from the drains. Stan went up on the roof and carefully caulked around the drains. He took before and after pictures of the work he did! He also inspected all around the roof and found the tears in the membrane which he fixed. Stan was great about explaining exactly what he was doing and why. I have complete confidence in his work and will not hesitate to call Pacific West again. Thank you for a job well done!
Description of Work: We have a small office building in Beaverton with a flat roof. The roof appeared to be leaking so we call Pacific West. Stan was able to come out in just a few days. He inspected the ceiling in the office to try to determine the source of the leak(s) and then carefully inspected the entire roof. Stan concluded that the roof drains were the cause of the problem and thoroughly caulked around each drain. He then repaired a couple of small tears in the membrane that he found in other locations. He did a great job!

I don't know what inspired me to call Pacific West Roofing for an estimate, but I am sure glad I did. I had some moss issues on an older roof and was dreading the prices that were going to be quoted for the job. I had 3 other companies that gave bids and some were in the stratosphere!! I got a call from Stan Robinson asking when he could drop by to give me an estimate. I work on call 24/7 and just happened to have just gotten off work. He came right over and took a good look at the roof and asked some questions about how I wanted the work done. I didn't want it pressure washed and he agreed that brooming it would be the wiser choice. In the process of our conversation it turned out that Stan and I had played Little League baseball against each other in our childhood!! Wow, what a shock!! So the conversation about the roof became moot and we had ourselves a great remember when conversation. It went so well, I forgot to get the numbers on the cost!! I called the office a couple days later to see what had happened and found the estimate in my inbox.. Set up the time and date and went to work... got home 2 days later just in time to see the crew finishing up the work and I swear I thought I had gotten a new roof!! It looked so good I could not believe it was the same one. The yard had been raked and they had covered the pool so that none of the material off the roof got in the water. I could not have been more pleased with the results and how nicely they had taken care of the plants and yard. I give my highest recommendation to Pacific West Roofing and if I ever need work done again, these guys are the only ones I will be calling. Thanks again, Stan and Dan. You guys are the greatest!! Our experience was good except for that they drove nails through the overhang. I asked them not to use nails that long and they did it anyway. So, I was not happy with that, but I complained to them because I had them repaint it and spackle it and all that stuff. I told them that I would like $500 because of the fine involved in the paint and they agreed to give us $500. The price was fine. The quality of their work was good except for the overhang.

We should have written this review last summer when they did the work - but better late than never :) Brett came out and provided the quote in late May 2014. They were so busy we had to wait until well into June to get the work done. Busy is good, we figured, because they must out making a lot of other folks happy too. When the two roofers came out they were very professional and completed the job in about half a day. They showed us all the pieces they replaced and answered all our questions with care. We didn't go up on the roof to inspect anything but as seen from the street and from what we could see out our windows the work looked great and very professional. As far as the work was concerned, they did a fantastic job! It has been nearly a year now at the time of this writing and we have not had a single problem with the expert work/materials they provided - even in all the very heavy and windy rainstorms we've had since. It is so nice to be able to find premium service providers like this at Angie's List. Our satisfaction was then, and continues to be, complete!

My existing roof was leaking and was tarped by another company but still continued to leak so replacing the roof was a priority. They provided a very thorough estimate and we spent an hour going through why he suggested what he did and why I needed powered vents. We had four nice days of weather forecast so they scheduled to come out and replace the roof during that timeframe. Day 1 was spent removing the old roof and laying down enough new material to get the roofing material delivered. Day 2 was repairing all the damaged roof decking including sofits. I had prebought soffit material and had it painted so they could simply install it so that worked very well. Day 3 and 4 was completing the roof, vents, and repairing my outbuilding. Their work was exceptional and they did a good job of cleaning up although I was still able to find a number of nails around the property. I found them easy to work with and they did very neat and professional work. They were cost competitive and came out for a final inspection prior to the final payment. All in all a very nice job.
Description of Work: Removed old roof, replaced damaged roof decking, sealed attic, installed powered vents, installed new roof. Also did repairs on an outbuilding.
The company called me a week before my scheduled appointment and said they had an opening. They were at my house an hour later and an hour later they were gone and I had a clean roof.

We had some blow-off of our composite roof during the big windstorm at the end of the year. Someone from PWR was able to come out and take a look the next business day, but it took a couple weeks before they could come out for a repair, as they estimated. Was able to do everything on the phone, they were very easy to deal with and concise in their communications.

The work was to remove an old and failing roof and replace with new insulation and membrane on our low pitch roof. The project was initially agreed upon in late October, but due to their schedule I was told it would be 6-8 out before beginning. Fine, that was to be expected, especially this time of year. The Monday before Christmas the project began, I only have a couple of points I would like to mention. First, since we did not know they were coming we had not prepared, such as removing the car the garage. Second, we only learned that it was starting because of the noise of the crew bumping around outside, no one came to the door to say they were here. Third, before we knew it the dumpster was in the driveway, blocking our car in. A miscommunication that Brett Williams assumed personal responsibility and profusely apologized for dropping the ball. Since we really didn’t have any place we needed to be that day or the following morning, we weren't too concerned. The dumpster was moved the next day allowing us to get the car out. Also, in the mean time we experienced a totally unpredicted rain event which led to a fair amount of leakage since there was only plastic sheeting covering as most of the old roofing had been removed at this point (the crew worked very quickly on that first day). The second day, the crew finished prepping, and installed the roof (Poly-iso Rigid Foam Insulation (R-19), 50 mil Roof membrane, and all the framing, hardware, flashing, and trim) to such a point that it very adequately kept out a pounding winter storm (rain) that second evening (the crew stayed well past dark to secure the roof). The final finish work was not accomplished until the following week because of necessary repair carpentry (separate contract). All in all, the crew was very professional and about as efficient as anyone could expect. I can't say it was a great experience, but necessary and, other than the aforementioned, accomplished with as little inconvenience as possible.

We called around and most businesses said they wouldn't repair a widow's deck. Stan and one other company said they would. Stan came out and reviewed the situation himself and gave a complete & detailed bid involving the plan of action to make the repair and all materials needed. For the work that Stan's company couldn't do, he recommended another construction company to complete the work simultaneously with the work that his company would perform. The company he recommended was great. Overall we had a great experience with Stan. He explained everything in detail and we are very pleased with the work. The new membrane has solved the leaking and looks better than the previous membrane. When the job was complete, Stan came out to inspect the work before billing us. We highly recommend Stan and his company.
Description of Work: Repaired widow's deck that was leaking into our living room and replaced the deck membrane roof system.
My only issue is that it took a month to get this done. I actually got the bill for the extra services but the work had not been done. I called them to ask when the service would be done I was told it had been and said "no - it has not". The guy had to come back out to validate what I said - which he did - and then reschedule the work. The second effort was done promtly and was done well.
Description of Work: For $225 (coupon deal) they cleaned my roof and gutters and removed some foam (installed to block debris). For an extra $83 they added down spout traps and did a zinc treatment on the roof to prevent moss.

I have no complaints at all. They provided excellent service and everything was great. Their price was also lower than the competitors.
Description of Work: I have used Pacific West Roofing for roof and gutter cleaning.
Had estimates from a few places, all around the same price, this was the cheapest. Roofer came on a Saturday morning about an hour early and started working hard from the get-go. He spent all day on the roof, cleaning, fixing tiles, repairing a gutter that was hanging by a thread, and then cleaning the gutters. He did a fantastic job and then power cleaned all around the house (it was quite a mess). He left our property cleaner than when he arrived (and even power cleaned our porch beyond what he needed to, making my wife very happy). Would absolutely use them again, great job.
Contract was for cleaning and repair and replacement of bad, damaged, missing, rotten shakes and ridge caps with verbal but no specific numbers of shakes or ridge caps. Therefore it could take a lot or a few bundles of ridge cap and shakes, based on the estimators judgement. The one man crew worked hard and diligently and on the third day was called off the job due to time restraints. The cleaning took 2 & 1/2 days with minor shake and ridge replacement. According to them the job was complete. I went up on roof and saw substantial damage to shingles and ridge cap due to age and weathering. I had the estimator come out and he accused me of wasting the workers time by constantly directing and telling what to do; which was a complete lie. After a discussion he agreed to install the remaining shingles and roof caps that he had estimated verbally but did not put in contract. I think they rely on customers not knowing about the quality of there roof before and after there work. They rely on friendliness and promptness to cover shoddy work. The worker would have completed the job properly if not pulled off. I would not rate them higher than a 3 for an Angie list. I informed.them that the reason I chose them was their high rating on Angie's list as I am a list customer.

This project was a part of real estate transaction. I request the seller to replace the roof, and the seller hired and paid this company. One thing you should know is that this company sub-contract its project to cheaper workers. Matt was out of town during my project, so there was other foreman in the field. One of my friend lives in same community with me, and he need to replace his roof in few years. When the workers installed the roof, he asked to the foreman this and that (I don't think my friend told him that his is my friend of the new owner). My friend told me that the foreman in the field was happy to get the project for about $12,000 and even showed the original contract that says the total amount is about $15,600. The overall quality, responsibility, and punctuality is terrible. ** Punctuality: - It took me more than 2 weeks to remove the dumpster from my drive way. As I mentioned in the beginning of this review, this project is linked to real estate transaction. Roof installation had been completed on the week of Aug. 18th. I closed the mortgage on Sept. 8th. The dumpster was remove after my closing. - Inspection fee refund to Angie's list member: Pacific West Roofing says it will refund the inspection fee of $250.00 if the customer hires the company for the project. I got the refund check 2 month later from the work completion date. ** Property Protection : The work description says the company will protect the property like below. " We will protect the perimeter of the home. - Dumpsters will be placed on 3/4" playwood strips to protect the driveway. (No, dumpster was placed on my driveway directly) - Tarps and plastic will be used as-needed to protect perimeter of the home. (No, there are still lots of roof debris in my side and back yard. - Decks will be protected with plywood when necessary (No, they end up damage my deck wood) - We will utilize a magnetic broom to remove nails and other fasteners from the premises. (No, this is the most scary part for me because I have toddlers. There were lots of nails and fasteners on my deck and lawn and I tried to clean it. The worrisome part is I have no idea how many hidden nails would be in my lawn.)" ** Quality - I notice a lift shingle near one of my second floor window flashing, and Matt agreed that it need to be fixed when we talk on the property after the installation. ** Follow-up issues - Even though a project is subcontracted to poorer quality workers, if the higher management do the right thing, it should ends up high qualify work. But it did not happen to me. - When Matt visit the property and talk with me, he promised to send out his men in the weekend to clean up the house perimeter, take care of the damaged deck (whether fix or replace the damaged wood), and remove the dumpster. NOTHING HAPPENED. I called him next Monday to say that I don't think anyone was in the property because I see no change. He told me he would check and got back to confirm I was right. So until I called him, he had no idea what is going on. I promised but did not follow up his words. This repeated several times so far, and only issue has been resolved is to remove dumpster. - The bad part is that even though Matt agreed to fix the lift shingle and to modify window flashing, nothing happened at the moment of 2 month later from the roof install completion. The worse part is he started to change his words. I tried to be patient, but rainy season is coming. I don't think anyone in Pacific West Roofing wants to go up to my stiff roof when it is wet. So I asked Matt to schedule the follow-up and give me exact date of follow-up. So far he avoid to give me any concrete date. Instead he keeps using vague works such as "as soon as possible, give me higher priority, and etc". When I asked him to give fixed date last time, he became little more frank and said there are lots of more urgent work (definitely the work giving them new income). And also said my roof passes his qualification. FINALLY HE CHANGED HIS WORDS. HE CLEARLY TOLD ME HE AGREE THE LIFTED SHINGLE NEED TO BE FIXED a month and half ago. Matt is very kind in face and show you heaven when he talk with you. But none of his words being followed-up. No issue was handled. My damaged deck is still not fixed. Lots of roof tear-out debris in my yard between my house and bushes. Lifted shingle is still there. Vertically standing window flashing is still standing in vertical. My house was not protected at all during the construction. (What is the point to have new roof if the roof installation damage the rest of the property? )
Description of Work: Tear out old cheddar shingle roof and install asphalt shingle on 12-12 roof.
