Stan Robinson and Brian Jarvis began Pacific West Roofing in 1980 with the idea that if we produced a roof according to the manufacturers requirements that we would always have work! A novel beginning with 22 employees and 36 years later, the mind set is still working as our company grows. We continue to train our installers to do it right the first time and we continually strive to be the best installers in the Portland Metro area. Stan and Brian are still running it and involved on a daily basis, even out doing repairs to keep a hand in the production side.

After almost 2 years of an excruciatingly painful and frustrating process working with Pacific West Roofing Co including: no shows and numerous pushed out start dates; our roof being completely torn off in the middle of winter and left with only underlayment through 4 snow/ice storms; debris being strewn in our attic like kindling next to our gas furnace; extreme lack of communication or answers to our questions; police called to our house for storage of materials on street without permit, parking heavy duty equipment and cracking our neighbors driveway, not remedying cracked driveway for 8 months; installing gutters on only half of our house; tacking thousands of extras onto our bill after one in a half years of continuous headache without explanation or documentation let alone acknowledgment of the terrible experience they put us through, then fighting us to get every last dime of these “extras” out of us; we feel it is our duty to share our story and warn the public to NEVER hire Pacific West Roofing Co. Detailed Timeline • June 2016- we received bid and agree to proceed with project for a SUMMER installation • Date comes for installation, we rearrange our schedule to move all of our pets out of our house due to the noise and stress of putting on a new roof- no one shows up with no e-mail or phone call to alert us the date has been moved • Date is pushed out 4 times in favor of other presumably more important projects • Materials are not ordered properly continuing to delay the timeline • We communicate with PWRC that we are only comfortable to proceed with installation in the winter if the weather is favorable • November 2016- PWRC performs a complete tear off of our roof, just before 4 of the biggest snow storms to hit Portland • Debris from the complete tear off litters our entire attic including on top of our gas furnace system, we have to call to request that they clean this mess up asap due to fire hazard • Police show up to the project as PWRC is storing materials on the street without a permit • Roof is left exposed to the elements with only 1/2” plywood and underlayment through 4 ice storms, freezing and thawing multiple times • Weeks go by without ice or snow when they could have made an effort to complete this project, rather, we wait months and additional snow storms with no roof on our house • Our heating bill goes up exponentially • We e-mail and call PWRC with our concerns repeatedly with nothing more then a receptionist saying someone will give us a call… no call • Without gutters the walkways around our house are covered in inches of sheer ice, our basement tenants with a new born baby, cannot leave their apartment safely • At this point we realize only half of our house has gutters, and no down spouts • We have to contact and pay another contractor to finish the gutters and down spouts • PWRC parks heavy duty equipment in our neighbors driveway to install the roof cap • Our neighbors inform us this equipment cracked and broke their driveway. • We are now at risk being sued by our neighbors because of PWRC poor decision making • When the project is presumably complete, PWRC leaves a stack of materials against our other neighbors house, we have to contact them to come remove the materials • It takes 8 months of persistent e-mails and phone calls by both us and our neighbors to get PWRC to address and remedy the cracked driveway • Without fixing the damaged caused to our neighbor’s home or sending us anything in writing that they will fix the problem, a bill shows up for thousands higher then our original bid without any documentation • To our dismay, PWRC has the audacity to negotiate with us for every last cent, including all the undocumented changes, without any consideration for the terrible experience • They offer us a couple hundred off the bill for the trouble • After months of phone calls trying to get a hold of the President of the company, he tells us we ended up with a “good roof” and this is just how construction goes… • To be done with this nasty nightmare of a situation we are still paying over $2,000 in addition to the original bid just to be done with them We chose Pacific West Roofing Company because we thought they had a professional reputation, and they were not the least expensive quote we received. We are completely shocked at their treatment and feel incredibly taken advantage of. They did not offer any kind of reasonable financial compensation for their mistakes let alone diminished quality of roofing materials after being exposed to the extreme elements for such a long period of time. We feel gouged by the company after being charged thousands of extra dollars covering their overhead for reluctantly fixing our neighbors driveway. Their service has been extremely unsatisfactory and can be described as unprofessional, incompetent and driven by greed. We strongly urge all considering Pacific West Roofing Co for their roofing projects to reconsider.

I chose Pacific West due to the initial responsiveness and trust in their Salesman. I gathered quotes from 3 reputable companies and though Pacific West was the highest bidder, I appreciated the level of detail and attention during the bidding phase. However, once we signed the contract with Pacific West, the good experience with their service and quality ended. We were given a half day notice on scheduling the roof. I happened to be home at the time of delivery of the dumpster which required my signature before they would leave it. Crews came at all times of day (including at 9pm at night!). Trash was prevalent, and the side of my house was damaged. I am still finding roofing scraps and nails in the yard almost one year later. My neighbor works with OSHA and had serious safety concerns of the crew throughout the roofing job (they would jump from the dumpster ledge to the roof). I was initially told that the current roof was in incredibly poor condition, yet the crews did not replace a single sheet of plywood from the original roof. The crews also destroyed several gutter guards. I had a coupon for roof maintenance from the Angies List book for Pacific West which was not honored. Bottom line: Pacific West has strong selling qualities and poor contracting qualities and follow through.

Pacific West recently completed a new roof for us. Our expectations for the finished product were high, but Pacific West’s team exceeded them. While the very wet fall and winter caused scheduling delays, once the work began, their staff was exemplary. The Project Manager, Matt Krill, provided smart recommendations for solutions that we had not thought of that greatly simplified the project. The Project Coordinator, Carrie Austin, was extremely responsive to all our questions, and kept us informed of status in a timely, professional way. The delivery crew was efficient and cheerful. But our highest praise is reserved for the actual roofing crew of 5 that was supervised by Hector Voya. They arrived promptly, worked long hours with minimal breaks, were conscious of safety, and remained positive and courteous throughout the project, even when unexpected issues arose. We would recommend Pacific West without hesitation.
Description of Work: The 21 year old flat roof of our duplex was leaking in multiple places and draining badly. Pacific West removed a parapet that extended the length of our building and applied 4-way sloping foam boards covered in membrane to the entire structure.

I was very pleased with the work done by the crew, especially the care they took to make sure everything was tidy and picked up after the job. The installation of the torch-down roof was careful done and has proved to be flawless and leak-free through three very stormy winters. If there's one thing I could change, it would be to make sure that the size of the drain-holes through the roof--where they enter the oversized downspouts--matched the size of the downspouts. One-inch diameter holes leading into four-inch downspouts aren't terribly effective. But that was my fault in specification.
Description of Work: Replacement of 20+-year-old torchdown roof (2/12 pitch), installation of 12 new vents and two new oversized downspouts, replacement of a few rotted roof boards and their adjoining fascia boards at eaves.

Pacific West did a great job repairing my roof. They replaced sheeting, repaired dry rot in a few rafters, replaced a few trim boards, and replaced some siding on the peaks of my roof. The crew was very friendly and did a great job. Excellent job on the clean up and were careful with our plants near the house. They brought my 1950's house up to modern standards for ventilation. I would definitely recommend them, and use them again.

Not well. He was a little late but no big those things happen. He looked in attic and inspected the roof. I was told I'd get an estimate within the next day or two, this was on Friday. On Tuesday afternoon of the following week I had not received an estimate so I called. Got a return call message saying estimate would be there by end of day or the next day. It is now Monday of the next week and still now estimate. Not impressed.

We are extremely pleased with the work performed by Pacific West Roofing. They removed 4 layers of roof, performed repairs, and installed a new composition roof. The initial contact with the project manager was very professional and the estimate arrived quickly. The project manager explained every step of the process to make sure we knew what to expect--and stayed with the project, checking in regularly, to the end of the project. When decisions had to be made, he advised us of the options and costs, and proceeded only with our ok. The roofers were hard working and reliable, checking in with us at the beginning and end of each work day, and they thoroughly cleaned up at the end of each work day. We are confident we chose the right roofing company and don't hesitate to recommend Pacific West Roofing.

We had a roof leak and they were able to come and handle the repair. This included an $100 roof repair credit and it all came out even I guess with materials and labor. We did have to make a follow up call as we had not heard back for a time to make the repair, we needed to make sure they knew that our leak was an active leak and needed to be prioritized as soon as they can. Within a week or so, they arrived as agreed and fixed the leak as discussed.

The supplies were delivered during a week of rain and left in my driveway not covered the buckets with the nails and staples soon filled with water I'm still not sure why they took the ladder out of my garden and had it up on my deck leaning it against my gutter. The supplies sat there for a good week, the boards bent over sideways and the glue split apart. I was upset and called Matt Krill to ask if these would be replaced. He was going on vacation and I never saw him check them out. (I did not see him again until he came out with the owner) I came home a few days later to see two young men up on my roof finishing for the day. I saw them a couple more days they were doing about aside a day. A couple of days later my neighbor and I saw what looked like they used the wrong color of shingles. I kept a eye on it and about a week later she let me up stairs to look out her window, the spot of brown was growing it now looks to be a 10' x 10' area. I had asked the young men if they had put in the vent for the Bathroom exhaust yet, they did not seem to know anything about it. I took off part of Tuesday November 10th off the workers thought they might finish this day. When I got home no one was there and we were expecting 2-4 inches of rain in the next 24 hours. I called Matt at 10:42 am and left a message asking about the workers and if they were going to make it to my house on that day. I went up in the attic to see what the chimney looked like and saw this whole in my roof daylight was coming through a 12' x 4-6" hole in my roof. Matt got back to me at 12:27pm the workers are not coming. He called their supervisor who was on his way and should be there in about an hour. The supervisor Hippolito (sp) arrived at my house at 8:30 pm. with his family in the truck. He took his flashlight pointed it at my roof and said (it looked ok, and if there is any damage, we will fix it for you). I told him he needed to get his ladder and go up and look before the rain started. He found the very large hole and pulled the bundles of shingles together in a line and put others together where they butted up against each other. No rain got in this night. I pointed out the dark mark to Hippolito that's on the side of my house. He thought it was dust where they took down the chimney and I just needed to wash it off, the chimney was on the other side of the roof. (it has been raining almost daily)The brown spot was still growing it now looked to be about a 12'x12' rusty mark. On Nov 21st Matt said I will get out there and inspect. We'll make sure it's 100%.I received a e-mail from Stephanie Garlington on 12/16/2015 a employee at Pacific West Roofing she was working with Matt and Hippolito get my roof finished they wanted to send someone around 8am on the 18th to do the rest of the work. I sent the list if six items below to her. She passed it on to Hippolito He arrived on time and he moved the vent for the bathroom to closer to the bathroom ceiling. While the other worker cut holes and placed the vents for the exhaust fan. When I asked about the Dormer with black tar instead of shingles, they put flashing so I did not need shingles. The corner pieces not laying flat. I was told I needed several days of 80* weather to get them to bend over corners. I sent a Certified letter to the owners and included pictures of what I was upset about. I asked for a meeting and owner Brian Jarvis and Stan Robinson. Brian and Matt arrived at my house at 4-4:30 to discuss what I was looking to have finished. #1Put shingles up to the shakes on the dormer of my roof where just black tar is now. #2.replace the shingles that are stained. #3 replace the shingles not laying flat. #4 moving the exhaust fan closer to the bathroom. #5 A cover for the large fan to keep squirrels out of my house, already there. #6 the air vents. #2 was caused when the workers cut a cast iron pipe they figured this out by Matt climbing up on the roof and found the cut pipe, replaced shingles. Well #2 done, #4 done, #5 done, # 6 done. #3 will need to wait for a week of 80* weather to have the corners mold to the house. Leaving #1 I e-mailed Matt on February 1, 2016 to let him know I have a leak in my front room over my front door which is where the dormer is on my roof. I sent pictures he called me back and told me it does look like I have a leak and they will make it 100%. I have not had any contact from Pacific West Roofing since that call on the first. Personal note I have Asthma and I am worried there is now a chance of Black mold and water damage to my house. On Wed February 3rd at 8am this appointment had already made days ago to have a worker come out and fix the exhaust on the furnace vent. I hoped they would look at the attic while they were here. No one showed, no call. I e-mailed Stephanie and sent two pictures and asked her to pass on the leak to Brian the owner. Still nothing, I'm very disappointed after reading their reviews I was expecting Wonderful. Now I'm hoping I didn't ruin my home by using this company.
Description of Work: Tare off single layer roof,24 years old and was not leaking just old. agreed to replace any wood that may need replacing, none replaced, took down furnace chimney to under roof, now I understand this might have been the wrong thing to do. Added a ventilation fan to back of roof along with air vents for circulation. Put in bathroom exhaust vent. No electrical work was done by this company. $9000.00 cost Deposit of $3000.00 made.

I contacted multiple places about fixing the issues noted by our inspector on the roof. I had one quote that came back at almost $3,000, and endless back and forth with another person, which resulted in no quote at all. Then Brett came out and took a look at our inspection report, and he pointed out that all of the things that were listed would be high cost items. He also noted that the mistakes would have happened when the roof was last done, and if there was no damage from them, then likely there would be no damage in the future. However, if we wanted them fixed, we would be close to $3,000 (as quoted by another place), which was well on our way to the cost of a new roof. He told us we should wait on those items until we replaced the whole roof, as it would be a better investment of our money. He did see one thing he could "patch" until we replaced everything, which was to put rubber booties on the plumb venting where the flashing had become damaged. He said these would last until we replaced the whole roof. It was so refreshing to work with someone who told us their honest opinion, and gave guidance on a thing I knew nothing about. He easily could have told me I needed to fix the roof issues immediately, and charged us lost more money, as I would not have known better. We are definitely going to be using Pacific West Roofing again in the future!

I booked the provider on 7-28-15. I was given 2 days notice the work was to being on 9-28-15 I explained at the time to Matt, my sales rep that I was going to be out of town when they planned on beginning the work. He assured me he would make sure all was to standard in my absence. I returned home to find the workers did not lay down any yard protection or barrier. My organic garden was full of roof debris from large to tiny pieces. My heirloom squash plant was killed by the amount of garbage thrown on it. Matt was horrified and apologized and assured the company work take care of the loss. I was told the reason this shortcut happened was because the crew was short staffed and in a hurry. He did send a crew out to clean my yard. However, they simply racked it leaving tons of tiny roofing material mixed into the top soil. I called and complained to the owner of the company. He seemed genuine in taking responsibility and offered to send a crew and hand remove the top layer of topsoil. I am still waiting for them to show up. It is now January 2016. Today I weeded and prepped aa space about 8' x 1'. I hand removed about a cup of roofing material ranging from 8" to 1/8" from the soil. Now my years of build an rich organic garden are wiped out and I have to start all over.

First, I don't know the price, so disregard the $100. I needed to put a value in to write this reveiw. Yesterday, December 23, I had a large alder fall on the house. J and F Tree service came out and removed the tree. They were done by one o'clock. Brian sent a team of roofers out at dusk to put a very large tarp in place. It covers about half of my roof. The men could not have been nicer or more efficient. It is very secure and I feel confident it will protect my house until a permanent repair can be done. I am so grateful to get same day service from Pacific West Roofing. There was water inside the house from the time the roof was uncovered. We were very vunerable without the tarp. This is the wettest December on record for Portland and tree removal and roof patches are in high demand. Thank you Brian, for making my Christmas. Without that patch we would be looking at a lot of water damage.
Description of Work: Provided an emergency tarp for three holes in my roof.
