He sent the estimate via email. He had promised to complete the work within 3-4 days, and it was spot on. They did a very thorough job and cleaned up well afterwards. I was very happy with their work and professional attitude.

Because of the small amount of work needed, I was forced to pay the minimum charge which was more than the cost of the work involved as the work was completed within 30 minutes. In addition, I was given some tips on augmenting the roofing edge to avoid future issues.
Description of Work: My asphalt shingle roof was dripping behind the gutter due to valley metal flashing not being long enough (a DIY installation). The JBC representive showed up when agreed, reviewed the situation, and presented the solution (splicing on a valley metal extension and reweaving the disturbed roofing). Concluding the issue was relatively minor, I authorized work immediately, which was completed within 2 hours.

We had this problem once before and another roofing company performed a minor repair which seemed to fix the problem but ultimately, did not. JBC came the day I called and figured out the source of the problem. They put a huge tarp over the affected areas then came back two days later (when it stopped raining) and performed the repair. I was very impressed with their professionalism, work ethic and attention to detail.
Description of Work: Repaired water leak in roof by replacing flashing around two skylights and exhaust stacks along with roofing tiles and water barrier.

After the snow/ice storms we've had in the area, a few of our roof tiles broke and caused a leak in our garage.  + -1 moreI was very impressed with the responsiveness of JBC Roofing. I discovered the leak shortly before 8 am in the morning on a rainy day and was concerned it would get worse during the day. Brad, the owner, had someone at our house within 30-45 minutes. They examined the inside of the house, where it was coming from, then immediately got onto the roof and determined the problem. He explained the problem and what they were doing to fix it. They were very thorough and took the time to clean and check the rest of the roof and examine some of the tiles. JBC went above and beyond and definitely would use them again for any roofing needs!
Description of Work: JBC Roofing came out to look at a leak we discovered coming into our house. They determined where the leak was coming from and discovered it was moss build up on our tiles that was causing the water to build up, thus not draining through the valleys and leak through the roof. They cleaned off the moss, checked the tiles and the rest of the roof to make sure there were no other issues.

 + -1 moreOur 18-yr old composition shingle roof had some winter storm damage (a few shingles had blown off). Was seeking recommendations and advice...should we repair or replace? Since asphalt shingles have gone up in price well over 40% since first of year (petroleum based product) and the trend continuing, it seemed most cost effective to replace now rather than wait another year or two. Sought estimates from 5 contractors, 4 of which responded promptly and courteously. A general contractor friend recommended JBC so I included them in the list. They're a well-established company (my contractor friend has used them for at least the past 8+ years), they have 4 or 5 crews, They were able to start my job within 2 business days of signing contract and couldn't have been more pleased with both the process and the outcome.
Description of Work: Bid was lowest of 4 (about 12% lower than next lowest). Committed that it would take 3 days from start to finish of job. Job was done at end of 2nd day (but we had advantage of excellent weather!). Suggested we visit their shingles provider to view larger samples of the various shingles being considered. Sure glad we did as actual sample colors varied significantly from the brochure photographs (e.g., "Charcoal" looked medium gray in brochure but in actuality was near-black...and we didn't want black!!). Workers were courteous, precise and clean-up was superb. Estimator (Kenny C.) very knowledgeable, polite, not pushy and followed through with each verbal and written commitment. In March 2011, we called this contractor concerned about some possible "waving" in one area of the roof they had replaced 2 1/2 yrs earlier; they came out, agreed that this might become a potential problem and proceeded to repair the area at NO CHARGE and with no hassle. This demonstrated to me their integrity and concern for the customer and willingness to work with the customer as problems might arise, and reinforced my strong recommendation for anyone needing their services.

Description of Work: JBC tore off our existing roof, installed skylights and a cricket roof, and reroofed. We had bids from several contractors and were most impressed with the knowledge and expertise of the JBC rep (Kenny). JBC were prompt and efficient. They returned twice to make corrections on small problems we noticed.

 + -1 moreI contacted JBC Roofing and was immediately connected to Kenny Courtney. We spoke over the phone briefly and he met me the next day to provide a quote and samples. I had a couple of leaks and my roof was 20+ years old. Kenny stated he could save me some money by not tearing off the original layer but I decided it would be a good time to check the plywood and everything hidden by the original shingles. I really appreciated the fact that he was trying to make sure I got the most out of my investment. He wasn't trying to "get a buck out of me" but he was trying to make sure I was happy. I signed the contract within a couple of days and his crew (Manuel and Luis) showed up that week. They arrived on time and worked extremely hard. The job took a couple days and they made a point of picking up their tools and supplies at the end of each day. They completed the work on time and were very professional. Kenny stopped by my house to make sure I was satisfied and told me to contact him directly if I had any problems in the future. It has been a year and I have a great looking roof with no leaks (knock on wood). What a great experience from start to finish.
Description of Work: JBC Roofing did a complete tear off and re-roofed my 1600+ square foot ranch style house.

 + -1 moreUpon arrival, the crew worked quickly to remove the existing roof, reinstall the underlayment and roofing paper, and make the modifications necessary to improve ventilation. The crew covered the ground around the house to protect it from roof debris and cleaned it well before leaving. We have a home-based business so we were home during the entire job, and every crew member was courteous and respectful of our privacy. Our contact person, Kenny Courtney, demonstrated a level of roofing expertise we didn't see in other bidders and extreme pride in the finished product. We felt that he cared as much about our roof as we did.
Description of Work: JBC Roofing removed and replaced our existing roof. As part of the job, removed and reinstalled existing soffit boards installed new slotted intake blocking, and installed spacers for proper ventilation on the roof covering a vaulted ceiling.

He covered all areas of work to be performed, how it would be performed and answered all our questions in a professional and friendly manner. The job took one more day than planned but the crew cleaned up everyday and left no messes behind. They hung plastic from the gutters and kept any debris from the house and flower beds. The crew was friendly and worked hard everyday. When they were done the job was walked to make sure everything was cleaned up. They used a magnet to go around the house and make sure there were no nails left behind and they cleaned the gutters. The new roof looks great and we have had significant rain since it was completed with no problems.
Description of Work: Complete tear-off of 3 prior roofs. Install 20 squares of new architectural shingles. New valleys, roof vents (including 3 new ones), vent and chimney flashings, and drip edge metal.

 + 0 moreThey offer a 10-year warranty, but they don't uphold it. I have called every year (for the first three years) since they had subcontracted the gutter installation. They wouldn't even come out and look at the work. I was told they stand by their subcontractors but they never came to fix the gutters. I called their subcontractor to complain as well and they were arrogant and rude. I believe the owner of JBC Roofing is a liar.

 + -1 moreI called Kenny Courtney from angies list, he came out gave me a bid, brought me samples to help me pick out the roof, dropped off references. I was very impressed with his communication he communicated all the way through and came at the end to do a walk through to make sure the job was done to my satisfaction. They cleaned up as they went and was very impressed. I also asked that they keep the gates closed so my dog wouldn't run out and they did that each day.
Description of Work: My house was built in the 80's they tore off my composite roof and put on a new one with exhaust fans and skylight. I dealt with Kenny Courtney. I called him after reading angies list and found him to be a very good communicator.

 + -1 moreI got three quotes and this was the middle one. They made a good presentation and were using the same type and quality of shingles as the other companies. They arrived at the scheduled time and although they knocked on my door they started removing shingles before I could answer the door. The trucks had no markings and the worker spoke little English -- it would have been better if he had really introduced himself. The work was done professionally, efficiently and well. They could have cleaned up a little better at the end of each day and used the magnet each day to remove nails. Nails that protruded through the soffet area were not removed immediately. All in all I was satisfied with the job and the roof has held up well during the subsequent rain storms. I discussed all my issues with them and they were resolved.

 + -1 moreWe felt it was a competitive bid and the sales rep was clear and concise regarding the cost and his suggestions on how to meet our goals. He was polite and responsive to our needs. All workers were friendly and competent. There was a small bit of damage to some siding, which they replaced upon completion. Although they picked everything up from outside, the front walkway, driveway and back porch remained pretty gritty. Re-roofing is a messy process. A couple of lawn ornaments also took a hit (by flying shingles, I presume). I guess that was to be expected, but I wasn't prepared for it. I had some cleaning up outside to do. They did offer to compensate us for the ornament damage, but they were old things anyway. Aside from that, it was a generally positive experience.
Description of Work: Replaced entire house and garden shed roof from previous cedar shake to composition, and contracted out for adding additional bird blocks (roofing vents) as well as installed two solar power fans in roof for better ventilation.

WHEN I CALLED 30 MINUTES AFTER THEY WERE SCHEDULED TO COME, AND TALKED TO THE SALES REP KENNY, HE WAS RUDE AND SAID THERE WAS NO CREW AVAILABLE. WHEN I CALLED AND TALKED TO THE OWNER BRAD, HE SAID WE WERE SCHEDULED, BUT ONLY IF THERE WAS A CREW AVAILABLE. I SAID SOMEONE SHOULD HAVE CALLED US THEN TO TELL US THAT. HOW ARE WE SUPPOSE TO PLAN TO HAVE WORK DONE IF WE CAN'T BE SURE TO BE ON THE SCHEDULED LIST. I WAS VERY UNHAPPY WITH THIS TYPE OF BUSINESS PRACTICE. THEY SEEMED LIKE I WAS INCONVENIENCING THEM AND THEY DIDN'T REALLY NEED MY BUSINESS.
