The glass was foggy/dusty and needed cleaning and the tech checked everything out to ensure it was working properly. The technician was respectful, prompt and knowledgeable and let me know what he would be doing and how long he expected the cleaning would take. The fireplace looks like new!

Good result overall - person who came to do the work was friendly and punctual. Took less than 1 hour - maybe even about 30 mins - to do the work which seemed faster than expected. Company didn't know what to do with two chimney - didn't give coupon deal twice but instead a slightly reduced rate from standard for the second.

The reviews from this provider were stellar which is why I selected Murphy's. First, they rescheduled 2X - the day of service they called to change time! The service man inspected the gas fireplace and said I need a new pilot assembly. He returned 3 weeks later then said the fireplace was beyond repair and would need to be replaced for $4000 - $6000. He reassembled the fireplace and charged me $100.00. He did not even clean the fireplace. I found another local company (Willamette Fireplace) to take a look. They repaired and restored my fireplace to perfect working order; it looks like new! They charged me $305.00 for the total job! Murphy's may have earned glowing marks from other consumers but they did not measure up with me. My referrals will go to Willamette Fireplace 100%.

The employee who came out was great. Gave great answers to my questions, was proactive, explained to me exactly how often I needed maintenance (which was less than what I told him I thought was the right answer, so he was very honest). He was very friendly to my dog. We are going to have them do some more work on the exterior brickwork of our chimney. It's an old house and needs to have moss and mildew removed and then a sealant applied. I was very happy with them.

No problems, but I was a little surprised that he didn't move the concrete logs out to check the burners. The service person did move one log and cleaned the pilot light by wiping it off. (With other services I have had at other properties, the embers were replaced and the logs were blown free of any dust.) The glass was cleaned on both sides and the metal vents and surrounds were dusted. All in all, it was an adequate service, and a friendly service person. With gas fireplace servicing being priced at nearly twice the cost of servicing a gas furnace or an A/C, I was left in doubt as to why the larger amount.

He called an hour before appointment time because he was ahead of schedule and wondered if I would like him to come early. He showed up as agreed and was very professional, courteous, and thorough.

When I came home from work I noticed that the fireplace in the family room was untouched, which I thought odd since the last time we had the chimney cleaned the contractor loosened creosote from the chimney which had fallen into the fireplace, and thus had cleaned that out from the inside fireplace. We really haven't built many fires in the last 3 years so perhaps this was not an issue, except for previous damage done to masonry of the chimney. Since I knew my husband could only talk to Paul briefly due to the fact that he was working, I called the company the next day, and asked if I could make an appointment for the masonry work, and was the state of the chimney so bad that we should NOT build a fire? The receptionist told me "Of course you shouldn't". I politely asked her if the contractor that came out could contact me as I had some questions for him. No response for 2-3 days, so I called back and talked to another lady that told me that they needed half of the estimate price time down at the time of the appointment, and that the other half would be expected at time of service. This meant for me that I would have to wait until the end of November (I get paid once a month) to make the appointment with half down, and that as the lady informed me there were "15 customers ahead of me, having wood stove inserts installed" and that it was unlikely that we would have it fixed anytime soon. Both receptionists promised me a call back and I was told after e-mailing the company that I would be getting a call on last Monday. Again, no response..We not only received a written estimate of the work on the chimney on the day of service , but a printed copy for $945 and what that included. The final straw was when 2 days later I received an estimate of the repairs for the chimney for $1945.00! I emailed the company that told me to just ignore that for NOW and that they would get back to me in a couple of days which they again, failed to do. How in the world did this company earn an Angie's list recommendation?

Paul was punctual and professional. He educated me about the gas fireplace cleaning and pilot . He also inspected my chimneys and alerted me to work that should be completed in the near future. His company offered a price for a necessary chimney cap that was about $50 more than other providers and the bid for sealing and repairing chimney was also about $50 more than other estimates.

Fantastic Service. Very responsive on telephone. Showed up on time for inspection and cleaning. Left no mess. manufactured the chimney caps and installed them on schedule. Great service overall!

It ended up costing me additional money. I think it was $1000. I had to call them back on the painting. They were supposed to be done and I paid them. I looked up there and I could still see that it had not been painted. They replaced the flashing in the back which I couldn't see. But, I remember him having that piece of flashing. But overall, I was happy with them. Not quite as happy as I was with the guy that came out previously. They came out pretty quick. When I called them back on something, they responded real quickly. They should maybe have the boss come out and check and make sure that the guys did everything they were supposed to do. That's the only thing. If I wouldn't have called them back, I still wouldn't have got that painted. I just was irritated that I had to call them back to complete something that they said was done. They did really good except for that one thing.

Fine. Will know more when we have our first fire but there really isn't anything to see.

Chimney cleaned out and firebox checked as well as the masonry of the fireplace. Since I have a fireplace insert, door and flue also checked and noted that seal needed to be replaced. After the cleaning, explained everything he did and what other measures needed to be done. Left living room very clean after sweeping the chimney.

They came out, lit the pilot and supposedly checked everything and made recommendations. I started smelling gas and they wouldn’t come out and said to call the gas company. The gas company said there were 2 leaks, which Murphy's should have checked. The gas company fixed the leaks.

I bought a big deal for this service and it was fine. They were punctual, did a good job, cleaned up well and were very professional.

The contractor was punctual, thorough, and professional. The job was completed at the advertised price.

Not much to say. They came, they cleaned and inspected and left. Quick, clean, efficient and friendly. Worker was on time and took less than 30 minutes to do the job.

All was promptly handled. Communicated clearly about condition of chimney and repairs needed.

He was punctual and professional. This is a rental house I just purchased. He charged less than was quoted over the phone because it was already clean and he only needed to inspect (rather than clean and inspect). I appreciated that!
