They came on time and answered all the additional questions I had. It was one (person), I believe he is the owner of the business.

Henry did a thorough professional job. Dismantled firebox, fixed pilot light and cleaned the fireplace and gave us tips on future maintenance. Also was courteous, answered our questions and kept the work area clean.

So So. Probably only about 1 to 1 1/2 hrs of work. Cheap drop down chain for damper.

He was right on time; did the inspection of my wood stove, emptied the ash tray for me and hauled all the old ashes off. Checked the fireplace-- All was good except the chimney needs some work--hadn't been done in over 20 years so have scheduled it for April when the weather is better. Competent, professional, explained everything he was going to do. Have lived here since 1978 and Murphy's is the only chimney company I've ever used. Excellent work!

The gentleman that came here was on time! He cleaned the fireplace and now it looks brand new again!! I would reccomend Murphy's to anyone who needs their service!

They did a good job. It was just fine.

We assume the chimney was cleaned satisfactorily. Owner/chimney sweep told us chimney was in disrepair and gave us a "today only" price to rebuild it. It was rebuilt, as discussed. At a later time, we learned that it was a "crappy" job - the words of a roofer. He told of some correction that should be made when we're ready to re-roof the house. The mason came to inspect it - without a ladder and took pictures. The owner relied on the pictures & wouldn't come, himself. We contacted a building inspector, who told us the chimney would pass inspection, but its construction was very amateurish. Owner continued to defend the workmanship, without ever inspecting the chimney.

We assume sweeping went well. Long story, but masonry was poorly done. We got independent opinions from a roofer and a building inspector, who said it was "a crappy job" and "the worst I've seen." Owner refused to come see it, but sent worker who didn't want to go on roof; then saw no problem.

The work was done carefully. The rusty grate was even cleaned up and spray painted to inhibit rust. That was an unexpected bonus! I was very pleased.

Paul called on the agreed date and let me know he was on the way, and arrived when expected. He completed the expected tune-up work, and also fixed a bad connection we had on the on/off ignition switch - now that works property for the 1st time in a long while. He used a drop cloth around the fireplace to keep in clean. Also inspected the chimney and cap, and did give a recommendation & quote for work to be done there. He was pleasant and professional, I'm happy with the work, and would recommend him for this.

Provider called and was able to come to our home early and, likewise, finished early. Showed us how to perform some minor maintenance and cleaning or our own. Tidy, courteous, and thorough - we'd be happy to use Murphy's in the future and recommend them wholeheartedly!

Working with this company was very easy. Setting up the appointment was quick, I received a reminder call, and the person arrived on time. He cleaned my chimney and fireplace, left no trace or dirt. He found some problems with my chimney and its flashing, took photos, discussed repairs needed and gave me a cost estimate for the work, which has been scheduled. We also discussed possible alternatives in wood stoves to replace my pellet stove, with recommendations and pricing. I am very pleased with the work done.

Several weeks after the rebuild, we noticed a loose section of the eave/fascia board near where the chimney work had been done. Assuming it may have been caused by a ladder, we phoned Murphy’s. There was about a 3-week wait for an appointment. The original mason came, arriving nearly 5 hours late, without even a phone call. He said the observed problem was due to roof dry rot, which he had told us about. (He had not! If he had, we would have considered the roof prior to the chimney rebuild.) He said he tried to nail the loose board, but couldn’t fix it due to condition of the roof. Later, we secured a roofer, who confirmed a roof problem that we should address within 4-5 years. He asked who built the chimney as it was a “crappy” job, and listed several issues. I called Murphy’s about those problems, and was told I must discuss the concern with the owner, who would call. He didn’t. On my SEVENTH call to Murphy’s, in a 17-day period, I said I would contact Angie’s List and BBB, and got a call back within 5 minutes. Owner said he would look at mason’s pictures; there was no need to come out. Within a day, he called and told me he saw no problem. I had asked for the pictures and he forwarded one, but I didn’t get the rest. Still concerned, a few months later that we had a building inspector look at the chimney. He confirmed the roof issue, and that we should consider a 4-5 year timeline. His assessment, too, was that the chimney was built well; but it was sufficient to pass inspection. However, he did suggest that, when we have the roof redone, we should have the roofer extend the chimney flashing to the degree that should have been done by the mason.

I bought a deal for the inspection and cleaning that cost $150, They were here for 10 mins and said the fireplace looks clean, which wasn't their fault that I bought the deal apparently not needing any cleaning service. They recommended the metal fire backing and said they would have to come out another day and it would take an hour and cost $450 bucks. When they returned, it took maybe 15 mins and focused on the big cracks only. Maybe I misunderstood but I don't think I should have to pay $450 for 15 mins of work (I don't think the metal backing was that expensive, it is just leaning on a bracket they put on the ground.)

Everything went well after we found out that the furnace company had turned off the gas to the fireplace while installing a new furnace and forgot to turn it back on again.

Excellent. Arrived on time. Work was completed promptly. Fireplace looked amazing when done. Fixed non working gas fireplace in the course of the tune up. Great job!

They did a great job. I think it was a reasonable price. They did a great job and cleaned it up. He didn't leave a mess or anything.

Excellent, a full service was done and the agent gave advice on our particular unit and things to look out for in the future and told us what he had found and fixes that he had made. Definitely went beyond just providing a simple service. Will use again.
