Three servicemen arrived at our home within 2 hours of us calling. Then addressed some problems with the venting on our furnace, fabricated a new part and installed it within an hour. They also explained how some past work (by another company) set us up for some problems that we have been having. They resolved all our concerns, were very responsive and enjoyable to work with. We will use them again without a doubt.

We love them. They were really great. They were very responsive and they came out to make sure that we work without heat for too long. They checked the heater and recommended how to fix it. They helped us price out some new furnaces. We have a crack on our heater box that caused the gas leaking. Our family used them for 5 years. Their price was fair among those competitors in our area. The technicians that come into our home are really friendly and knowledgeable. They were respectful at your home. They don't try to sell you things if it's not necessary. They really give you good advise about the most cost effectively to keep your furnace running well. They also came out before when it's cold outside and we don't have heat. They made an extra miles to make sure that we were not cold in our house which we appreciate. That's the reason why we go back.

We started our experience with Gagles in mid May with getting our estimate from Gagles salesman Ken. we had received 2 other estimates from HVAC estimators already. We chose Gagles based on the overall price(moderate) and seeming expertise on Ken's part. We were incorrectly told we could place the furnace in the original location of old system and it would be substantially smaller than old unit. We were advised as to where to drill holes for concrete cutting necessary for install. The advised concrete drill hole and subsequent cutting of concrete in basement foundation wall was incorrect and as they failed toenter and measure the crawl space. At least 1,000.00 to cut multiple holes. Gagles was not interested in paying although they did fill the hole in the foundation. Could not install in original location due to estimator error. Another few thousand to redesigm basement remodel. Believe it or not, i got worse from there. They delayed project completion for over a month because they had other jobs to attend to and were no longer making money on us. No air conditioning through a major heat wave because they were under staffed so only came back once a week.Ken did not return multiple phone calls when problems serviced and we had to threaten termination of the job if our calls were not returned. These calls were primarily related to concrete cutters cutting in a location indicated by Gagles but turned out to be next to a gas line and not even in the crawl space. Phone answering operator was professional and courteous but obviously frustrated at her inability to reach anyone in an emergency. (no cell phones or email avialable?) Duct work was placed at 90 degree angles despite original guarantee that it would not be. Finally completed job (delays in construction also cost money folks) and we paid them in full. First freeze this week and lo and behold, Houston, we have a problem. No heat. They did come out (promising we would have to pay for service after hours despite improper installation of condensation drainage pipe) and cut the pipe so we could empty buckets of drainage all night. Yes, we had heat. But service tech was surly, unprofessional and angry saying there were too many and quot;little old ladiesand quot; calling about frozen pipes and only one service tech working. This, apparently, was our problem. The next day, at our insistence, both Ken and Mr. Gagle came out to look at the problem. While attempting to explain to Mr. Gagle that emptying buckets during every freeze was not an adequate solution, Mr. Gagle exploded and shouted and quot;If you want to argue go ahead but I always win.and quot; He was red in the face and screaming this at a female senior citizen. Luckily Ken is a cooler customer and deescalated his boss who looked very much like he was about to explode into physical violence. We are unimpressed with this customer service. Granted, after threatening legal action back, they did provide a cheap fix (we hope) to the problem. Sure hope so because I would never allow this diminutive (thankfully or the threat would have been much scarier and I would have called 911) business owner on my property ever again. On a happier note, all of the other service techs were professional, amiable and provided good service.

The technician discovered that the A/C unit had frozen, and so was not operating; he explained the issues, and suggested that we make sure none of the ducts were blocked and then simply let it thaw so as to not damage the unit. This is what we did, and the problem was successfully resolved.

Ken Robertson was on time for both appointments. He was also very friendly and professional. It's when I would have to call the office to ask questions or set up an appointment that the office ladies would tell me each time that they would have to talk to Ken first and get back to me. I ended up calling them back consistently because they would never return my calls when they said they would. Finally I called on July 9, 2013 just to set up an appt. for the duct work only since they would never answer my questions or get back to me regarding the a/c. Once again the office worker said it looked like the following Tuesday is open but she would have to talk to Ken and get back to me. And, once again, she didn't get back to me so I scheduled to have the work done by a different company. I had Aire Serv. Heating and Air Conditioning in Silverton come out within two days to give me a proposal and they said they could come out the following week to do the work. That's the way a company should be run!! And the part that yet shocks me even more is I then got a call from a lady at Gagle's on July 23, 2013 stating she would have to reschedule my appointment. WHAT APPOINTMENT? THEY NEVER GOT BACK TO ME IN THE FIRST PLACE TO EVEN SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. Evidently they scheduled an appointment for me and FORGOT TO CALL ME BACK to let me know about it??? And I have the phone records to prove that I had to make all the phone calls to Gagle's. Talk about bad customer service!!! I've never dealt with any company that was this bad before and I hope I never do again!! I wrote Ken an email after all of this to let him know what I had to go through and he didn't have a clue about any of this. What a headache this whole experience with Gagle's has been!! I'm giving Gagle's a D for the overall experience only because Ken was so nice and professional. I give the office workers an F and I guarantee I will never be calling them again!!!!
Description of Work: Ken Robertson came to my home on January 23, 2013 to give me a proposal to replace all of my heating ducts in the crawl space. I had to have waterproofing done first so I told Ken I would let him know when that was done so I could hire him to come out and do the work. Ken came to my house again on May 6, 2013 to give me a proposal to install central air because I was contemplating having that installed at the same time he installed the ducts.

Our air conditioner quit working on a Wednesday evening and Gagle's was able to send a technician out the next day. The technician arrived right on time. We have a very old home. We're used to hearing people say, and quot;I've never seen plumbing like this anywhere!and quot; Gagle's said the same thing but worked with me explaining what could be done that would stay within a reasonable bill while still doing the repairs needed. He was very helpful, worked diligently, and finished the job on time and within estimate we had agreed upon. I would definitely use them again.

We called and within a few hours they had a person at our home. He correctly identified that the garbage disposal could not be repaired and suggested alternatives. The whole process with Gagle's was frustrating, the job seemed straight forward enough but they didn't seem interested in the work and were unresponsive about just getting an estimate.
Description of Work: I caled Gagle's for an estimate on relocating and replacing a hot water heater and gas line, they were fairly prompt and promised an estimate in a day or so. After 3 weeks and no estimate I called them back and was told I would have an estimate the next day, I did not receive an estimate until after the work was already completed by another company and then it was by mail rather than email or even phone.

All the work I had done on this review was over a period of time from March 2012 to August 2012. I live in Alaska and the house being repaired is in Salem, Oregon. Gagles was easy to work with over the phone. All repairs were done as scheduled. I thought their pricing was a bit high, and there were a few little things I though could have looked a little more professional, but everything was repaired. I felt they were honest, and would probably use them again.

They are very courteous, very responsive and very good. Their cost was good. They were professional and showed up on time. I had them come out to take a look at something another contractor had done to make sure it was up to code. They charged an $89 fee and I think it should have been a free visit. However, he was very thorough; he left but he came right back because he had forgotten to check something. They are very nice guys. He sounds like he knows a lot about plumbing. I have used them twice and I would use them again.

I chose Gagle's because I had used them before, satisfactorily, on a cooktop venting issue in another house (although I wasn't pleased with a small plumbing job they did after that). This was a small job...what could they do to it? The service rep told me my Goodman heat pump was a low end brand and good for only 10-12 years, and this heat pump was 10 years old. He told me it had a refrigerant leak and it would cost $500 just to get inside to check it out, then probably another $500-$1000 or more to fix it. Given the age of the heat pump he recommended I buy a new one. I had already submitted an offer on the house. This didn't sound good. I talked to my daughter who talked to her partner whose brother was still part owner of a HVAC business... he sold heat pumps and furnaces for a living before he retired. He said Goodman heat pumps were a good brand with a life expectancy of 10-15 years, and they are generic...they can use parts from any other brand. He also said I didn't have to use the heat pump to operate the furnace, but if I replaced the heat pump I would also have to replace the furnace since they are synchronized. He suggested I wait until the heat pump quit and then decide if I wanted to replace it. I thought I would like a gas furnace someday...I decided to wait. That was about six weeks ago. I bought the house and moved in two weeks later. Last weekend my daughter and her partner were cutting down a dead pine tree in my back yard, and I was talking over the fence with my neighbor. My daughter's partner pointed out her heat pump looked exactly like mine, so I asked about it. She said she has lived in her house for 9 years and she and the previous owner of my house had bought new Goodman heat pumps two days apart, about 2-3 years ago! I questioned the timing, but she said she had lived in the house for several years before she had to replace the heat pump. So, obviously, the statement from Gagle's service rep that the heat pump was 10 years old was either a lie or he didn't know what he was talking about. Either way, I'm now wondering if the heat pump does indeed have a refrigerant leak. I'm also wondering of this was all a ploy to sell me a new heat pump and furnace. Let's just say I am now very leery of this company and will not use them again, nor will I recommend them to anyone. UPDATE 8/3/2011 Finally got my home warranty contract snarl worked out and called for service on the heat pump. The company contacted and quot;A Team Heating and Cooling LLCand quot; ( see my 8/2/2011report), who sent a technician out the next day. Chris knew what he was doing. I flipped the circuit breaker in the house and he pulled the fuse cartridge from the disconnect box. He immediately saw the scorch marks and replaced the disconnect box with a new one, and also replaced the fuses the Gagle's man had put in that were the wrong kind. When I flipped the breaker switch again about 15 minutes later, the heat pump came on! Then he checked the refrigerant pressure, watching it for over 10 minutes to make sure. NO LEAK! He said said he will be back next week with something to step down the amps because the unit is rated for 20, the breaker box is 40 and the fuses are somewhere between! No extra charge. I could feel the air cooling when I went back in the house! He was here 30 minutes; the charge was $245 for parts and labor...less than half what Gagle's man said it would cost just to find out where the alleged and quot;leakand quot; was. I can't find the words to describe how disgusted I am with Gagle's. Chris told me Gagle's owner retired and now his son is in charge. Too bad.
Description of Work: Inspection of the manufactured home I was planning to buy showed a burnt wire in the disconnect box for the heat pump. The inspector did a quick wire bypass so he could get the heat pump working, but said I needed an electrician or HVAc person to fix it permanently. So I called Gagle's. I was told I had to pay $85.00 for the service call. The service rep came and fixed the wire and changed some cigar fuses in the box and also did a pressure check on the heat pump. No extra charge. That part of the job was okay. It was what I found out later about what he told me about the heat pump that I have issue with. See my 8/3/2011 UPDATE at the end of this report.

The guy put in a new furnace a couple of years ago. He dropped off the filters for me and billed me for them later. The company has been around for years. They charge the regular price of the special thick filter, which is $9 a piece. I got six filters and paid $64. I would recommend them for anything to do with heating and air conditioning. They had originally installed the furnace when my house was built in 1988. When they came back to repair the furnace once, they told me that the particular model was poorly made. They recommended I get a new furnace. The state had a special energy discount for energy-efficient furnaces. So, I got a rebate of $300-$400. I will continue to use them in the future.

Overall, the experience went excellently. They were perfect all the way around. Ken, the employee who provided the estimates, came out and explained everything thoroughly. I obtained four different bids from four other companies, and what really stood about this company was the thorough explanation, and the different options that Ken provided. He included information about the cost as well as with tax incentives. The installers were professional and performed the job quickly (within a day) and efficently. After the work was completed, the owner of the company came out to inspect the work and went over some paperwork with me, which I really appreciated. I'm satisfied with their services and I would highly recommend them.
