In March 2011, we had a devastating wind storm throughout our area. One afternoon, in a very short matter of time, high winds took the roof over the deck on the backside of our house and slammed it up and down until it eventually collapsed. Not only that, the wind ripped several shingles from the roof of the house as well as a roof vent. I?m sure contractors everywhere were getting a barrage of phone calls for wind-related damage so I wasn?t even sure if Matt would be available when I called. I also wasn?t entirely sure if our deck roof could be fixed. I was pleasantly surprised when Matt was able to work on our house right away and even more impressed when he sacrificed his weekend to make the needed repairs. Matt was able to resurrect our deck roof and added much-needed framing and support to keep it from collapsing again in the future. He did a great job of matching the existing shingles on our house roof and made sure our roof vent was installed properly...not the case prior to the wind storm. Matt once again amazed me with his quick response, attention to detail and as always, completed at a very reasonable price.

We finally decided to sell our house, but the task of getting it ready to list was becoming too overwhelming. We have two young children so finding the time to work on the house was becoming increasingly difficult. We put together a list of all the odds and ends that we were going to need help with in order to get the house ready to sell. We called Matt to see if he would be interested. Even though he was extremely busy, he understood our dilemma and made time for us and our projects. He did a wide array of tasks, from installing base molding to constructing a deck railing and got our initial list of tasks done in one day. After a couple more weeks went by, we realized we still needed some help and (sheepishly) called Matt to enlist his help one more time. One of the things that impressed me about Matt this time is that he didn?t shy away from any task, even if it might have been trivial to him. He takes everything seriously and gets it all done in a timely fashion. He is always very conscious of our need to stay within a budget and never fails to deliver. I can?t say enough great things about the work Matt has done for us and I hope to have him work on our new (old) home.

We contacted Matt Hunter, General Contractor, to do a bid on a bathroom remodel for our house. We found Matt on Craigslist. I will admit I have had some bad experiences with Craigslist service providers, however, Matt?s ad linked directly to his website contained good information plus plenty of pictures of his work. After having Matt over to see our bathroom and talk to us about our plans, we felt completely at ease and decided not to seek any other bids. We felt that Matt understood our wishes as well as our budgetary restraints so we were confident in our choice. One of the reasons for our remodel was a problem with a partition wall between our toilet and bathtub. There was rust coming through the plaster in the wall (caused by wire mesh in the plaster) which Matt thought was odd. In addition, our toilet sweated a lot and that was rotting the subfloor. Rather than just do a patch job over the wall, replace the subfloor and hope for the best, Matt took a more scientific approach to the problem and discovered that a combination of a small leak in our roof directly above the partition wall and a draft created by a hole in the floor underneath the partition wall were causing the problem. He fixed both and it cured the problem. Matt resurfaced and retextured our walls, replaced and leveled the subfloor, installed a new toilet and sink/vanity, plus some other odds and ends. He worked with us so that we could do the painting and the flooring ourselves to save a little money. The house only has one bathroom and Matt worked quickly so that the amount of time we were without a functioning bathroom was very brief. I always felt comfortable talking with Matt trusted his every decision. He did a great job, in a timely fashion for a very reasonable price.

He's done very wonderful work, he's a super worker. He offered perfectly reasonable prices.

We called Matt to come give us an estimate on the jobs. He did so promptly and came out to our house and looked over the areas to be worked on. He later sent an e-mail with a quote on the jobs. As soon as I had the area prepared for him he came out and did the stud work and framing. We also signed a contract at this time with everything in the bid listed. Then a short wait for the plumber to do his thing and then Matt came out and installed the surround. He also did the dry wall work at this time. He later did some finishing touches in th bathroom and installed the front door.

I had left Matt a voice mail giving him the description of what we wanted. I did not realize that he wasn't in the same city as us. Matt however followed up regularly with emails and phone calls and even came by to give us an estimate. His estimates were pretty much accurate and extremely thorough. He was very punctual, finished the work in 2 days as he had originally estimated. The cost estimates were very accurate as well. The steps came out very well and matched the rest of the deck perfectly (you cant tell that its an add -on) He even cleaned up and was very courteous.

He is a very thorough, excellent craftsman and I highly recommend him to anyone. I would hire him much more often if he just didn't live so far away - he came back to Corvallis to visit friends and spent all Saturday working for me!!

He is a great person to work with and his work is beautiful. He has been working for me for the last couple of years. He is going to do some more windows in the summer. If he sees some things that need to be done many times he will do those at no charge. We get a lot of little extra benefits from him. When he was doing one of the sliding glass doors he found some dry rot that he repaired and didn't charge any extra because he had the materials on his truck. He is a busy man and I schedule out a month because he had other jobs lined up. I will most definitely use him in the future.

The original visit was to look things over and give us a bid and a time line on how long the project would take. Matt was always on time and a very conscientious worker. His work was always well done. These jobs where done over a period of time and he was very willing to work things into our schedule. He was very efficient and very fair on his estimates. He also left the job clean very clean after he was done.

He was very professional. The work was very good. He was very helpful. I felt like the work was affordable and competitive.

He gave me an estimate that was very detailed and clear. He did the work when he said he would. He cleaned up after himself well. He was the only one of the people who came out that gave me a very reasonable estimate with a clear and detailed explanation.

It was an open sided 7' x 14' shed. I think Mathew Hunter is fabulous. He was very timely, he does excellent work and he's a perfectionist. He cleans up after himself and gets right back to you when you email him. He is currently moving to another area now so I won't see him much more. He will be putting a solar tub in and an awning over the front door soon, though.

We communicated by email and phone, he was very professional and did a good job. I would use him again if he were still in the Corvallis area.

My father has recently become unstable when he walks and needs railings to help support him. Matt listened to my parent's needs and designed a very sturdy railing that went down the middle of the stairs. The hand rail was smooth and the design unique. He was careful of the flagstone that had to be cut so the post could be installed. The railing is VERY sturdy and helpful to my parents.

Matt was very conscience of my need to keep within a budget and he went out of his way to find me products that were good quality for an excellent price.

Matt very carefully measured and squared up the screen door, finishing the edges smoothly, added the hardware and hung the door perfectly. He cleaned up, vacuumed, all his leftovers so you hardly new he was there at all, except for the beautiful door that works very well.

He did this work over a period of several months. He charged for his time at an hourly rate plus materials.

Matt allowed me to purchase the materials and worked around the hardwood flooring installation which was done by another contractor. He always arrived punctually and his work was done meticulously with no messes. Matt considerately allowed me to help in cleanup which reduced his time and my costs.

We were out of town during the whole construction. Our daughter found Matt, we signed the contract via mail and paid the bill at the end. Absolutely no problems. Matt is honest, reliable and an absolute craftsman.

Excellent work, professional behavior. This contractor/handyman is able to listen and do what is wanted. He also makes suggestions where appropriate. I had had several other people to come look at the old arbor that needed shoring up (and also an opinion on whether that was feasible), and none listened as well as Matt to what I wanted or were as willing to come up with a solution that met my needs and that was structurally sound. Not only was the work on the arbor well done to begin with, but Matt returned, without my asking, to check a week or so later to make sure everything was okay. I then scheduled other work with him that was equally well done, whether outdoors or indoors. He is unobtrusive and respectful when working, while having a friendly attitude. This made it easy to have him around when I was at home while he was doing repairs inside the house. The finish quality of his work, as well as the structural correctness, is very good. His clean up afterward is also very good. He is flexible enough to adapt to changes in the original request and thorough enough to put any changes in writing on the contract. I would definitely use this service again.

Matt was very professional from first contact through completion of the jobs we needed done. He was prompt, courteous, provided a free but very thorough and detailed estimate, and gave us a breakdown of prices for each piece of the job. Matt's work is very reasonably priced and he did an excellent job for us. We fully intend to hire Matt again in future for other work and can highly recommend him to others looking for a skilled contractor and handyman.

Matt did both the design and all work except for concrete pouring. Everything was done on schedule and to perfection.

Matt gave us an estimate that was accurate - given that we both agreed to changes that were needed to the original plan. Matt arrived on time and put in a full day's work. His quality craftsmanship is evident in the end product.
