My carport collapsed from very wet, heavy snow. Even though it was a very busy time for him, Matt Hunter came up with a week of when I contacted him. The final cost of the job was less than his estimate and the new carport is much sturdier and better looking than the previous one. He also installed two handrails for the staircase inside my house and a grab bar in my shower. The cost was more than fair and the quality of the finished work was great. I would highly recommend Matt for any construction project.

I have hired Matt for several large and small projects over the last few years. Every project went extremely well in a timely fashion and at a very fair price. His craftmanship is top notch. Matt is my #1 go to guy for all of my handyman projects I need help with.

We recently moved into a building I own, while waiting to build a new home on my son's property. There were 2 large (10 ft by 4 ft) windows on both sides of the entrance door. The sun beat down on these windows and heated the inside of the building, also no protection from the weather at the front door. Matt Hunter designed and placed permanent covers over the windows and doors. It was done in a timely manner and looks fantastic. Really improved the character of the building.

Matt recently completed some home maintenance repairs - reinstalled a closet rod that collapsed (it just MIGHT have been overloaded) and fixed a sticking door. In both cases, he quickly figured out what needed to be done and did it. I really appreciate his willingness to tackle any little repair.

I asked Matt to convert a 14 by 14 chain-link enclosed dog run into a covered tri-plex bird rehab facility. Simple in concept, VERY complicated in execution. Matt was wonderful in understanding what I wanted, figured out - in advance - all the details, and pulled it off! This was all last spring! He came back over the summer to tweak the design just a bit. Outcome is that several dozen birds have been rehabbed and released back into the wild. Great job, Matt!

I'd noticed my carport no longer seemed to be squared up, one corner (downhill) a bit lower than the other three. Matt came out and determined that actually a couple of the corners were off. He sorted it all out, squared things up, replaced a couple of posts and it's good as new.

The sliding glass door in my family room was becoming increasingly difficult to slide. Matt came out and diagnosed the problem (a couple of the wheels under the door were not turning - maybe the result of dog/cat hair jamming the wheels?). He removed and replaced the wheels and the door is sliding again! He even adjusted the locking mechanism that hadn't worked properly for years. Amazing!

On time, under budget. Design met all my criteria and was more innovative than I was coming up with on my own. He did a great job of hearing what I wanted in terms of utility and "feel" - and translating that into something I could afford. I love it.

Matt did a terrific job. The major project was a deck replacement. I had only a general concept of what sort of "feel" I wanted in the end, and really no idea of how to get there. He was exceedingly patient in helping me sort it all out - he made lots of suggestions, asked questions, brought samples, etc. He was also great in helping me sort out that something I thought I wanted might not end up producing the desired result - didn't tell me what to do but brought potential issues to my attention. When I ended up hung up on the color of panels to go on a portion of the deck, he bought a whole selection and then placed them up on the roof so I could actually look at them, full-size, in place. He then returned all the ones I didn't want. And, his craftsmanship is beautiful. The spacing between the deck boards is precise, all the edges are finished nicely, and the railing is a thing of beauty - joints exceedingly well done. I had also made clear that I had budget constraints, so he was great in helping me sort out less expensive options. He gave me a clear, written bid document - with various options broken out and a range of costs for some components where I was still sorting things out. The project ultimately came in on the low end of the range of projections and is beautiful. In terms of the various other little projects, he's been great in helping with all kinds of things from bathroom fan, to dryer vent, etc. Always very professional, prompt, and a great problem-solver.

Matt did a terrific job. He is meticulous and his dedication to perfection was/is obvious. I was in no hurry, so wasn't an issue but it was a large job and he works alone. Plus weather was a big factor during deconstruction/construction. Matt kept me up-to-date on his schedule plans timely via email and texts. All in all I am very happy with the job. i have a deck I can really be proud of. My Dad was a "finish" carpenter, and I think he would be happy?. Also, he came in under budget ($7.00?)?? I will most definitely use Matt again, and highly recommend him!!

All went well. I wanted to use the same posts and upright boards as they were still in good condition. Matt repaced all rotten boards, braces, etc. that needed to be replaced. I had ideas on how it should be done. I have hired Matt in the past and as usual his ideas were much better than mine at saving cost and work that may be needed in the future. He had to modify a corner post that saved me cost and was as strong if not stronger than replacing it. Gave me a material list and I went to Home Depot, picked it up and had all ready for him. That was another cost savings. He is a very honest contractor and his work is great! I've hired him to replace an attic ladder, finish carpentry work, finish counter top repairs, etc. He can do it all and is good at what he does.

Matt is a true professional. He knows how to do the normal routine remodel tasks, but he can problem solve and design as well. We needed a bench designed in our front courtyard that would be a functional bench but also hold up a courtyard wall. Matt designed and built a very functional bench for us. He is very easy to work with on remodel projects. Leave him be, and he gets the project done quickly.

Matt was prompt and later emailed me a very detailed estimate (labor, materials, etc.) for the project for FREE. He was very patient and spent a great deal of time with me, while at my home, explaining the project requirements before he left. He also corresponded with me, via email, l several times promptly answering additional questions that I had. He was very sincere and at no time did I feel pressured by him to hire him for the project.

This summer, Matt Hunter replaced our deck. We couldn't have chosen a better contractor. He consulted with us on what we wanted and how best to do it He thought about the project even when he wasn't here and sent emails re options he thought we might want to consider. He was knowledgeable, careful, cheerful, neat, quiet and flexible. We look forward to working with him again.

Everything went very well. Matt was very professional - his communication was excellent right from the beginning. We emailed back and forth several times before he started the job. Since Matt lives in Roseburg and I live in Eugene, we worked it out so that he would come up for two days in order to get everything done. Apparently, Matt does this frequently since he has had numerous clients who live in Eugene. The price Matt charged was very reasonable. It included all of his time, effort and the cost of all of the materials. Matt does high quality work. He is a very pleasant, soft spoken man. I will definitely hire Matt to do more work on my home and I have already recommended him to several of my friends.
Description of Work: Matt did a wide variety of tasks for me. Following is a list of the majority of these: 1) Backyard Deck: One of the top 14' boards (2x6) had broken when a friend stepped down on it from adjoining stairs. Matt replaced this board, then went under the deck and installed a new 14' pressure treated beam next to the existing one which was in poor condition. He also installed a 16' beam for added support in another area. 2) Front porch: The screws holding the 2x6 boards in place had come loose. Matt went under the porch and determined the problem was that the upper part of one of the supporting beams had deteriorated so much that the screw had nothing to hold it in place. Matt purchased some extra long screws and screwed them into place. This was only a quick fix since I am not yet ready to replace the entire porch. 3) Several of the roof tiles had blown out of place during a recent storm. Matt retrieved them and put them back into place again. 4) Matt installed a towel bar from Pottery Barn in the downstairs bathroom. 5) Mat removed all of the caulking around the kitchen sink and then replaced it. Great job! 6) The paint on the window sill in front of the kitchen sink had been chipping off for some time. Some of the bare wood was showing. Matt sanded the entire window sill and then re-painted it. I have done a lot of painting myself and have seen a lot of painting done. But, I've never seen such a beautiful job. The sill is about 6' long and there was not a single drip or mark anywhere. The entire sill was as smooth as glass! 7) Matt attached a magazine holder that I had recently purchased on one of the walls in my master bathroom. 8) Matt attached a holder for my hair straightener to one of the walls in my master bathroom. 9) I have had a very nice Patio Heater for several years. However, whenever I tried to light it it took forever. Finally, I called the company and explained the problem. They sent some replacement parts but I didn't know anyone who could follow their instructions and replace the older parts. Matt was able to do this and I'm happy to say that now my Patio Heater works just fine! I love it! 10) I'm sure there were a few more things that Matt did but I think I've said enough.
