It was a difficult job excavating 3 trenches for 260 ft of 4 ft high retaining wall. It was in a tight position but Matt patiently maneuvered his large excavator to get the job done. He advised my son and his friend on how to get the 80 pound blocks in the correct position and came by occasionally to see how they were doing. He inadvertently broke off a 4x4 fence post, he came by a day later and dug it out and replaced it.

Absolutely superb installation. What I got was a floor-to ceiling storage cabinet in a nonstandard height space, with a quick-operating security latch. Also had adjustable shelving and protective metal security edging inside to prevent it being pried open. There were no problems or issues in the installation and it worked perfectly. It also looked gorgeous. Unfortunately when I sold that house I could not take it with me, as it was custom-built for the space. Matt also did three other pieces of custom cabinet work in that house. The work was complicated by the fact that the house was old and "home made" so many of the measurements, angles and stud spacings were nonstandard.

This project was on a house I had just bought. The fence between me and the neighbors had been partially destroyed by an overgrown plum tree. The old fence had to be removed, the tree cut back and a new fence corner and gate system installed from scratch. The project was very successful and my neighbor was ecstatic that my tree wasn't ruining the shared fence anymore. I have photos available upon request.

My nasty utility room with 34 insect entrances is now a clean, highly usable work space. As always, Matt figures out creative ways to get things done.

All the joists underneath the old deck were rotten. He replaced them with treated lumber and suggested my choices for the decking lumber. He was careful and precise to make it "square", but it still had to meet up with the existing roof. He made it so it looks right to the eye. He cleaned up all the mess. He advised me on how long to wait for the lumber to dry before I stain it myself. He suggested he put railings on the steps going off the high side of the deck, something I didn't have before. He arrived every day and got the job done. The new deck is great and looks wonderful. He is reliable, personable and thinks the job through, both before and during the project. I wrote a check for the project, at the end, when I was wonderfully satisfied.

Matt did a great job and came up with an interesting idea on how to repair the damage by using bondo and spackle. It looks great and I'm very pleased. He's smart, honest and nice. I highly recommend him!

Although he was in the middle of the whole job, he took the time to come out during one of these days and took measurements. He didn't charge me for the door repair. He gave me a quote on what he would charge to. He's very professional, courteous, prompt and kind person. When I told him how another company had given us bid, he adjusted his price. I will continue to see him again.

We highly recommend Matt! Very professional. And HONEST! He bid a job for me that didn't take him as long as he estimated. I had no clue how long it took him so he could have stuck to the estimate, but he cut my bill down. The work he did for us was also very well done and timely. Can't say enough good about this man.

Matthew G. Hunter is very precise. He's a little bit on the slow side, but he does excellent work. His prices are a little high, for this area. We've used him a few times. We would use him again, but we found somebody cheaper. He did an excellent job with our benches. They really look good. Anyone who wants something like that, he's a very good carpenter. He does good work. He's very responsive to his customer's needs and he explains well what he's going to be doing before he does it. We really appreciated that. He aims to do it the way you want it. He's also very punctual. He gives you the day and the time he'll be there, and he comes right at that time.

Matt re-did entire caulking in less than two hours. He was quick, did a perfect job, and also cleans up after himself.

Matt works quickly and efficiently. The job was completed in approximately 4 hours.

Matt was great to work, always on time, and friendly. He is fair in his pricing and goes beyond what is required. Figured out a way to replace wood so that water wouldn't rot it out again. We won't hesitate to call him again!

I found out about Matthew Hunter through Angie's List. There was a good review about him so I thought I would try his services. And I was not disappointed. He installed the cat door in a little under 3 hours. He went right to work, was professional and we were pleased with what he charged for the job. The quality of his work is excellent and we plan on hiring Matt again in the near future. Good handymen are hard to find, we got lucky, Matt is the best!

Matthew did a great job. He has done two projects at my house, replacing old posts and installing new windows. Would highly recommend him.

Matt did an inspection to do an estimate on materials and labor. There was some extra repair work on the side of the house which he did first. The foundation of the deck was next and then the decking. As Matt worked on this he consulted with me and asked if I was satisfied. The railing and steps were next. All through the process he had me look it over. Matt's workmanship and professionalism were superb throughout. The final product was exceptional.

I was planning on having Matt also building a deck after seeing his quality work and cost. I just had some medical problems that have forced me to sell my home to move closer to family and Matt was very honest in informing me that I should hold off on unnecessary upgrades. After checking with my realtor he was right. Most honest contractor I have dealt with. He did every job very well and spent time with me to explain different ways to do it and the cost difference.

Showed up earlier than promised; very efficient and high quality work; hourly rate quite fair for quality of work and his skills; total bill was well under not-to-exceed estimate amount; highly recommend as a skilled handyman.

Matt plans carefully and executes skillfully. He is attentive to details and takes the time to do excellent work. I was concerned that the new range wouldn't fit smoothly into the existing space, but Matt meticulously reconfigured the opening so that the new range looks more at home there than the old one did. The ceiling tile installation was more problematic than Matt expected, due to the uneven nature of the old ceiling. He patiently employed a variety of strategies to ensure that the tiles went up evenly and stayed up.

I called him, he made an appointment, kept the appointment assessed the problem and fixed it.

Overall, the job done by Matthew Hunter is excellent. Could not have asked for a better contractor to perform the job.

Matt has done work for us in the past so we know that he does good work. We setup a time for him to come and he was on time and performed the work in a very profesional manner. He asked us to look it over before he left to make sure we were satisfied, which we were, The finished product was excellent and the clean up was was taken care of very satisfactorily.

We called Matthew Hunter after we ordered a kitchen at Home Depot. Our Home Depot experience was a disaster. Their kitchen specialist designed a kitchen and soon we received a plethora of bases, doors and parts. Unfortunately the individual who designed our kitchen went out sick for the next four months. The store didn't have anyone trained to replace her and no one understood the design. Neither the American manufacturer or the store could understand the design. We were blindsided. Our fate soon changed. As luck would have it we were found ourselves in the capable hands of Matthew Hunter, handyman and carpenter extraordinaire. We basically handed him a bundle of sticks that he used to create a magnificent kitchen for us. Matt is quiet, thoughtful and he carefully listens to what you want and without fail produces it. After putting our kitchen together from a pile of sticks we hired him to design and install a banquet for us with three windows and four benches. Each bench has storage underneath built specifically for my height and suitable height in the event I become wheelchair bound. It turned out so perfect. Then we hired Matthew to finished a laminate floor my husband and son began years ago. Matthew did all the finish work for our 90 ft. hallway that included trimming five doors and four sliding glass doors. Due to physical disability of mine we then asked him to design a wainscoting for hallway with a finger hold routed out. I'm disabled and I can't count how many times it has kept me from falling. You would never notice it unless you are looking for it. Matthew Hunter is an amazing craftsman and you would be well served if you were to engage his services. We were seriously contemplating selling our house so that we could move into a smaller community, but knew that our kitchen/dining room needed some updating. Some of the walls had old, dark paneling and we also had quite a few cracks in the walls due to the house shifting over time. Matt Hunter had given us a ballpark estimate to fix the walls in our kitchen several months before we finally decided it was time to get it done. Thanks to some suggestions by Matt and a little more work on our part, we were able to save a fair amount of money. He repaired all the cracks in our walls, removed the paneling and even found an quick, economical way to remove the wallpaper we discovered underneath. Once he was finished, all we had to do was paint the walls. Matt always does a great job and is always looking out for our best interests at the same time. This project is a good example of that.
