After they put in the system the alarm went off in the night. They had installed a defective transformer. I told them I can't afford to have that happen again because I have tenants and it had gone off all night long. They removed the alarm and I canceled the service.

I met with three different security firms before selecting Portland Security. The first two were just "ok" but when I met with Marc at Portland Security, I was sold. Not only was he personable, but he was able to answer all of my questions and concerns. He has been in the business for many years and it was evident in our conversation. He made an appt. to come out and install my new system. He called the day before to remind me. He was there on time. His installer, John, came with him and we discussed all of the things I wanted done. John completed the job and took sufficient time for me to understand how to use the system. He was very thorough and cleaned up the work area. I have been using the system now for 4 days and I really like it. I am especially happy that Portland Security's monitoring and maintenance service is local. That was one of the problems with my old system, out-of-area monitoring, so when the system failed it took a week to get service. I would recommend Portland Security to anyone who is looking for an alarm system.

I read reviews on Angie's List and decided to call Portland Security Alarm after reading positive reviews. We were not disappointed! Mark came by and provided us with some options. And he kindly had his installer come on a Saturday to get our system in promptly. He and the installer came up with good solutions to make the system accessible, hide the wires and make us feel secure. All good! Very professional, very prompt, very nice.

I have a very specific situation that involves uncertainty with the location of my alarm system. It was a lot of back and forth to ensure all aspects of my request would be met and I would be left with something I could agree with. Marc Admire worked with me throughout the entire process from all my questions to pricing, install, install packages, post install, subscription options, EVERYTHING. Overall everything was excellent. Met all my needs and did it without a hint of complaining or pressure. I felt completely reassured everything would be taken care of and would receive a decent service. Hard to find these days! The only issue I would think of would be install. I was not present at the installation but the installer installed a door sensor on a door that was sealed shut. I never bothered to ask why.

Quick response to my inquiry, quick appointment set to install. Up and running in no time. Now feeling much safer in the house.

After seeing a "peeper" on New Year's Day, I decided to rearm a security system in my home. I checked Angies List searching for the best Security Company in Portland, Oregon. After reading a number of references for several companies, both positive and negative, I decided on Portland Security Alarm. The deciding factors were the consistently positive references, their ratings, it is family owned, and they are local (no Call Center in another State or Country). I was scheduled for installation on January 14, 2013 with the understanding that if a cancellation came in, I could be moved into a sooner time slot. I was called when a cancellation came about so the system was installed a week early. All the people who came to my home were knowledgable, friendly and respectful of my home (booties on their shoes). They went over all aspects of the system allowing me to take notes. I appreciated their cooperation and patience as I learned the new system. The only snafu came when I accidentally opened one of my doors and had forgotten to turn the alarm off. My previous system had a very short delay for such incidents, but this new one didn't. Once I called and requested a short delay (late in the day), my installer came back the following day and adjusted it. I really appreciated the professionalism and consideration of all the people involved in this business from the person answering the phones to the owner and installers. They get an A+ from me on all counts and I would recommend them to anyone.

I emailed Portland Security Alarm to ask about an estimate for our home and our neighbors' homes. Even though it was the weekend, Marc replied to my email, and then called on Monday to make an appointment. Marc came and explained Portland Security Alarm's services and pricing, and offered recommendations specific to our individualo needs. We made an appointment for alarm installation, and Marc and his technicians arrived promptly as scheduled. We changed our initial plans to include three small windows not previously included in our estimate. Marc suggested it would be more cost-effective and efficient to use a glass shatter sensor in the living-dining area that would include all windows in that part of the house. The technicians explained all the work they had to perform, and made certain that we were comfortable with the placement of the equipment. They wore booties to protect our floors, and cleaned up when the work was finished. The whole installation only took about two hours. Our installation included four door sensors, a motion detector, glass breaking sensor, smoke detector, keypad, and remote/fob; we opted for a second fob. The tech explained the system, showed us how to operate it, walked us through some of the commands, and answered all of our questions. I am quite impressed with Portland Security Alarm. Marc and his team were professional, courteous and efficient. This is what great customer service is about. Also, they are a local company, and have operated in the Portland area for many years. We highly recommend them.

Everything about the job was great. Mark gave us a very fair rate. The crew was on time. They were very professional. They took the time to explain the system several times that I was I understood it. They even told us if we had any questions, feel free to call. We opted to do the mobile system which is a very easy system to use. I like that they are a family run company.

We called Portland Security after getting what seemed a very high bid from a national chain that previous owners had used. Marc was fantastic to deal with. He walked through the house and addressed concerns, offered his feedback, and gave his recommendations, and the rationale behind them. In some cases, he suggested some technologies and areas that we hadn't considered. In others, he let us know that we probably didn't need to secure them. His focus was to make sure that the correct sort of technology was applied in the right area. He was also able to recommend some remarkable convenience technologies that would allow us to remotely monitor and control our system, as well as having different settings for different times of day. The end result was an installation cost that was one fourth of the national brand and monthly operating costs two-thirds of their monthly fees. And added to this was the fact that when I looked into their response and customer satisfaction, the national brand had terrible ratings both for response time (or responding at all) and for customer service, leading me to believe that having the national brand's security system was having little or no security at all. In contrast, Marc has always been available and is very prompt to respond. I absolutely recommend Portland Security for any security issues in the Portland area.

After a home burglary, I obtained several bids for a security system, and selected Portland Security Alarm. I had follow up questions for all of the bidders, and Portland Security Alarm responded well. One of the contractors never got back to me. Portland Security Alarm spent a considerable amount of time walking through the house and yard with me, and discussing my needs. They also looked at an old system in the house to determine usability. I was pleased that they did not try to oversell me, and listened to my needs. I also liked that the company was local and family owned. I thought that the bid was reasonable. All the people I dealt with at Portland Security Alarm were pleasant, and unobtrusive as they did the work, consulting me when necessary. Since i have an older home with cherry woodwork in some of the main areas, the installer suggested replacing the white window sensors with brown ones, which would not stand out. The company ordered the brown fixtures, and replaced the white ones a month or so later. At the end of the installation, the installer spent some time explaining the system. So far, I have been happy with the service, and would recommend them to others.

We purchased a home with a system installed by Portland Security Alarm and it worked trouble-free for eight years. When the alarm malfunctioned in 2010, indicating it was triggered by the deactivated motion sensor, it took six phone calls, an email and two service visits for the technician to tell us, "I don't know what to tell you. It's an old console. Can't get parts for it anymore." We weren't really satisfied but the system seemed to work well enough until the unit malfunctioned again in January this year due to the same deactivated motion sensor. Neighbors and police reported that it had gone off multiple times. We called and set up a service appointment, one was made, and no one showed up or called. When these problems were called to Marc's attention, on both occasions, he was always more than reasonable and accommodating over the phone. We just ran out of confidence in the service person resolving the problem or even showing up.

The very professional installation was performed by Sean and John, after we had settled on a system with Marc. They were very efficient in installing the control panels, base station and sensors. They confirmed the locations of the various components before installing and cleaned up any debris. They provided instructions on the day of the installation and Sean came back a couple of weeks later to answer some questions that I had.

Our home was broken into in late August of 2012. My wife has resisted getting an alarm system over the years, but after this break-in, she came around and thought it was a good idea to have one installed. Portland Security Alarm was recommended to us by the sheriff's deputy who was investigating our break-in. I checked other alarm companies and decided upon Portland Security. The Team came out right at the appointed time and installed our system in a prompt and professional manner. They explained the operation of the system thoroughly and it is very easy to use--we used it all the time. We would recommend Portland security Alarm to anyone who wishes to have a system installed.

These guy are really great. Could not be more helpful. After installing system, they have been friendly and prompt about every little thing I have needed - battery replacement on sensor, replacement of magnet I hit while moving furniture, etc - all at no cost.

We called Marc with our request and he showed up the same day. Very professional and very informative. We set up the date for the installation and Sean and John showed up along with Marc promptly at the designated time. Marc made sure that both Sean and John knew exactly what we needed so that they could install without any issues. Sean and John were great! They are very professional and really know their stuff. They both made sure that if there was any issue that they felt would not make us happy it was discussed with us before they did anything. They also made sure that there was no mess anywhere that they did any work. We would highly recommend Portland Security Alarms to anyone that needs cameras installed. We currently have a security monitoring service contract with another company, but we will be talking to Marc in the near future to set up a new system to be incorporated with our cameras. Wonderful Service. We did have some issues with bad cameras which was a manufacturing problem, but Marc made sure that they were replaced until they were working properly.

Had a great experience with Marc and his team. I called for an estimate and he was able to visit the house same day. We walked through the house, discussed options, and he had a competitive proposal to me that night. He and his team came to install the system two weeks later. They were very flexible on making same day adjustments to our set up (we added a smoke detector to our setup) and were very patient while walking us through arming/disarming the alarm. They were referred to us by a friend, they get great reviews on Angie's List, and we were not disappointed in investing in this great local business.

The service has been good so far with the install. We have asked for two weeks for them to bring a sign and I wish they would have delivered that. For some reason they do not do auto bill and that is not ideal for the payment method.

Their price was far more reasonable than another company I had met with. They are very responsive--they came very quickly to install it. If they have to make any repairs, they will come out and do that for free, immediately. I am very pleased with them. They respond within about a minute when the alarm has gone off (I've set it off accidentally). Once I fell and called for paramedics by activating the medical alert, and they promptly sent paramedics to my home.

From the moment we spoke with Mark by phone to the end of the visit to our home by Sean, our experience could not have been better. We had an older alarm system that needed repair but were also willing to consider an upgrade. Sean did EXACTLY what we wanted and more! If I have need in the future for any additional home security needs, I will not hesitate to call Portland Security.

After a bid and consultation, Marc and Shawn installed a new alarm system (with an additional smoke detector) to replace an old Brinks/ADT. (I cancelled ADT because they have the lousiest service in the business: two weeks wait for a service call, then the tech didn't show up, and said there'd be another two weeks before I could get a defective sensor replaced). By contrast, Marc was here the day after I called; he and Shawn (the main tech) arrived exactly when promised, explained everything thoroughly, installed new equipment and made thorough tests all in less time than they had allotted. AND they're a local company, whom you can call up in the middle of the night if there's a problem. Go LOCAL! Go Portland Security Alarm!!

From the initial contact, on one the first phone call, I felt confident that the company would do a good job. This is a very professionally run company and everyone is determined to do a great job. I had another system in my house and wanted to know if I they could get it up and running. The first tech that I spoke to explained my options and then set up my appointment. The installer, Shawn, showed up exactly on time and worked hard to use the old system that I had. The systems wouldn't talk to each other so I went with a brand new alarm for only $99 plus the monthly fee. Shawn made sure that the alarm worked properly and he even offered to scrape off the old ADT signs on my windows. He was very pleasant, fast and he made sure that I understood how to work the alarm. Shawn also cleaned up any mess that was created when he was working. I would highly recommend this company.
