I took a day off to meet Masonry Waterproofing & Drainage Masters at my house, we went over the work, they wrote down my information and that was last I heard from them. 2 weeks later I called the number and left a message saying I never got my quote and no one called me back. A month later, I called again and said I never got my quote, called and left a message and no one called me back. Marc said he would get to the bottom of it right away, took all my information again - still nothing - no phone call, no quote, no emails.

Sometimes things get missed, I'm sure it wasn't intentional. I show your call was passed to our estimating department in a timely manner and we came out and looked at your project. It would appear the bid, though written up and emailed, didn't get to you. Is it perhaps in your Junk Mail folder? Please check and let us know!

I have never given a bad review. However, I feel it is my duty to share with others my experience - that's the huge benefit of Angies List and I would be remiss if I don't share information that might help others. I had called Masonry Masters for an estimate for two jobs - one on my personal house and one on a rental house. I gave all the information to contact my tenant and schedule direct with them. According to my tenant, they never received a phone call. Marc came to our house to give an estimate on chimney repair and he mentioned how busy they are. He suggested that we will want to do the work ourselves. I don't understand this because the reason I called them was to see if they could do it and what that price may be. I called twice to see what the estimate would be and I have yet to get any response.

[Removed members name], I did come look at your house and I did suggest, as your wrote up in your review, that you might want to consider doing the work yourself. You did not seem interested in a bid, given the scope of the work that I described, knowing it would be many thousands of dollars, and you were not prepared for that. I did not realize you wanted something in writing. I thought a verbal bid was fine in this situation and when we shook hands as I was leaving that was it. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Started and finished on time and as promised. Everyone we had contact with was pleasant and easy to work with -- answered all our questions and concerns patiently and completely. We had several other bids from companies that were selling proprietary systems that were expensive and not suitable for our problems, covered up the problem instead of solving it. This company offered sensible, practical solutions at a reasonable price.
Description of Work: Ground out and sealed a crack in one place in the foundation. In another, dug down on the outside to the bottom of a wall were water was seeping through and sealed it. Replaced a faulty drain.

Mike listened to all of my concerned, & gave me good feedback & suggestions to correct a really bad drainage problem. He was prompt each day, was courteous & professional as all his men were, & finished in what I considered record time for all the work done. The concrete he added merger realtord smoothly with the old walkway that remained. My wife & I, nor the inspector or the realtors had any idea what a mess we had on this corner of the house when we looked at it in the heat of last July, 2015. The problem was hiding in plain sight. When the first rains came, we had only a slight idea how bad the drainage really was. I spoke with 5 contractors, who all had different approaches to the problem. Mike's proposal made the most sense, his bid was more than fair, & the cost was more than reasonable. He listened to my concerns, & made changes to the bid that was very reasonable. His team was friendly & yet took care of business in a professional manner. These guys really knew what they were doing. The corner of the house that was the drainage problem from **** was transformed into a nice looking & functional area. All the debris was removed, & the work site was left clean. ut We saw the pipe that came of the curb that connected all the pipes together. The flow rate was amazing when it rained. More than any other drain pipe on the block. No more standing water. Under the foundation is going to take a while to dry out, but we're confidant that it will. Thanks Mike for a great job!
Description of Work: Constructed a french drain system, connected it to the downspout pipes on 2 sides & exited all of the drainage to a separate opening at the curb. Part of a concrete slab was removed that was improperly sloped. A bare patch of dirt was concreted next to the former with proper sloping. The backyard slopping was improved, as was drainage from the neighbor's fence. A cracking the foundation was patched & sealed. Everything was nicely cleaned up & all debris removed.

It took a little bit to get this project coordinated as these guys are busy, but once we were underway with the project I felt like I was in good hands with Byron, Marc and their respective crews. Marc rebuilt the chimney from the roof up, patched cracks in the firebox and installed a cap/crown so that the chimney would be safe to use again. I was surprised that sealing the chimney wasn’t part of the project/bid but to finally have fires after 12 years of non-use was amazing! Byron and his crew worked on the basement. The SE corner of the basement was leaking badly and there were cracks in the walls all over (seemed like to me at least). It also looked like the top of the south wall had a bulge that was bigger than before. They dug out externally, sealed and patched, replacing all the dirt and deck boards and section of the east fence when they were finished. They also had a **** of a job on the inside, removing the bad parts of the walls and filling in, then reparging. Byron also pointed out the water management system that I had (basically none) was making the leaking problem worse, as rain water was collecting in the problem areas outside and draining down into the basement. He recommended and installed a way to minimize the rain water flow, by allowing the rain gutters to flow from the downspouts into an underground drainage method that drained away from the house. Something else to add was Byron’s great attitude, patience and understanding with my many questions and texts. It’s nice when you can do business with someone that appreciates that this is your home and you would like to learn about the process, but most importantly how nerve-wracking it can be to think the foundation of your home is failing. It is the single most stressful thing I have had to go through with this 90 year old house. It was good to know he cared and his crew was on-time every morning, which went a long way for me and made the projects much less painful than I thought they could be. Byron even had his crew repair a part of the west side fence, which was super sad and sagging and as he said “a bummer to look at”. I agree! That extra bit of friendly help went above and beyond. I’ve now gone through almost a whole year of rains and I’m happy to say the basement has stayed dry – even through last November. I did call Byron back in January of 2016 to address a new problem (outside of what we had originally contracted last April) where water was trickling in under an old pipe in the wall that went to nowhere. Byron scheduled his crew to dig out and remove the pipe, seal the external side of the wall, and fill in the internal. That was completed within the day. Again, deck boards put back into place and I could hardly tell they had been there. I’m hoping the north wall isn’t next, as we couldn’t get in to see if there was anything of concern at the time, but if that wall also needs repairs Byron will be called first.

I messaged Masonry Waterproofing & Drainage Masters LLC on Jan 30 and asked if I could schedule an estimate to waterproof my chimney. I included 3 dates/times that I was available. Marc replied Feb 1 (promptly at first, to be fair) to ask for my address and phone number, which I sent him immediately. He replied later that night with "Thank you, I will see what I can do." Feb 7 (a week later) I had not heard from him, so I messaged him again to ask if he could schedule the job or not. He replied on Feb 8th to apologize, explain that they are very busy, and give me his partner's (Michael) cell phone number. Marc said to call Michael directly to come out and take a look at the chimney. I called Michael on Feb 11; he didn't answer, so I left a message. It is now Feb 18, and Michael has not returned my call. Now they're wasting more of my time while I write this review.

We are very pleased with the work that Bryon and his hard working crew performed on our house. The two sides of our basement exterior walls were dug out down to the foundation. The crew repaired all the areas that were cracked and leaking then applied waterproofing compound to the exterior walls and finished up by adding a vapor barrier, the gutter down spouts were rerouted away from the house. The Initial job bid was for the complete dig out of one the south side of the basement only. but by the time the crew showed up I wanted to add a portion of the west wall as well that had previously leaked. This would have extended the time frame length of the job but Bryon was more than accommodating to our needs. He is very honest and trustworthy he and his crew were a real pleasure to work with. I wouldn't hesitate to call on again if needed.

They were fantastic. We had a few estimates from large companies, that gave us beautiful glossy books to browse through. Needless to say, the recommended work from these companies and price tag associated with it were huge. We looked hard for a person who knew what needed to be done and how to take care of it, without exaggerating the problem. Byron and his crew kept our small problem small and took care of it professionally and courteously, neatly and accurately. They were personable and polite and easy to work with. There were no cost overruns. If we ever needed anyone for another small job or a really huge job - I would not hesitate to invite l Masonry, Wateproofing and Drainage back. They know what they are doing from years and years of experience.
Description of Work: We had a hole in our foundation, where the water pipe came in. Our basement flooded and ruined carpet and walls. Byron and his crew filled the hole from both the inside and the outside of the house and they moved our downspouts far away from the house.

Installation took about a day and a half, they replaced the grass where they dug and tried to make it look as it did when they arrived. The true test has been this winter and so far rerouting the water has made a big impact on the moisture issue in our basement. Unfortunately this was only the first step in the process to mitigate moisture. We were hoping it would be the final step, but it did not solve all our problems. I was glad that they suggested an incremental approach, though. I think in the long run it will save me money and my sanity.

It's nice when you meet a contractor whose primary concern is not "selling you" something. Marc was amazingly honest and forthright, advising us not to do the work we had considered because, as he pointed out, our basement walls had been painted and the hydraulic cement they use to parge would not stick to the paint. In short, it would have been cost prohibitive for them to remove all the paint in order to prep the walls to do the job right. We really appreciated Marc's honesty, as a less-than-quality job most likely would have failed at some point down the road. Since the walls are in pretty good shape and really just need to be cleaned and repainted, he gave us a "DIY "suggestion, which will save us a lot money and work for what we need. Would highly recommend Marc, because his integrity is obviously high on his list of priorities.

This project was something of a problem from day one. First off, I must say that I had caught a leak in my foundation. It had made carpet and pad all wet in a corner of the room. I had Bryon come out and look at the situation and he was more than helpful in letting me know a solution to fix it. The next week the dig team came out and started digging. It became obvious very quickly that this project was going to take a lot longer than planned. My home is 105 yrs old and although the inner basement wall was smooth the exterior wall , sub ground level, had protruding huge boulders. There is no way Bryon or his team could have know this prior to the dig. As a result the dig took several days longer than planned. Additionally the time to clean between the boulders. fix any issues and seal the surface, certainly was hard. The workers admitted they have never seen anything like this before. despite the issues the team always had a smile on their faces and continued to work hard during cold and rain. The issue in my basement started in Dec 2014 and concluded in Jan/Feb 2015. I have delayed my posting to conclude how their system has worked. I would certainly recommend them to anyone needing help.
Description of Work: The team of people dug along 2 sides of home, down about 9 ft. they then sealed and cleaned all exterior of foundation and patched any holes and issues we had, above and below grade. Had 3 downspouts fixed to drain properly. Window wells where installed at ground level for basement windows.

The crew was very efficient and professional. I was surprised how fast they were able to dig down 6' so neatly and fast! They went above and beyond the scope of work, patching extra areas in the foundation at no additional charge. They were very responsive to my phone calls and requests. I highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: The crew dug down to the bottom of the foundation on the north and south sides and a small section of the east side of my rental house. They applied waterproofing, and vapor barrier to the exterior walls and resurfaced parts of the foundation walls, both inside and out. They also installed new downspouts with clean-outs and diverted the flow away from the house.

The contractor looked into my crawlspace, said he didn't bring the correct clothing to go underneath and look at the problem. I had clearly stated the problem on the phone, so not having coveralls to go into the crawlspace seemed strange. Then indicated that he really could't give me a free estimate because I might use it to bargain with another provider. After some discussion he said possible he could work-up an estimate based on the inspection photos I had. He took the photos, never returned, never called and never returned the photos.

First of all, let me say I have held off writing this review until we had time to experience serious rainstorms and how the proposed solution worked. The work was done in February, it is now April. We've had a problem with wet carpet/water in one corner of our daylight basement for a number of years, and each year it got a little worse. It seemed no amount of caulking on the exterior concrete and where it met the wall made any difference. This year the wet areas went farther than before, and extended along the adjoining siding door to the outside. This year it was obvious the problem was getting worse, so we called for an estimate from Masonry Waterproofing & Drainage Masters LLC. (I picked them from the Angie's List.) Mike was on time and didn't waste any time analyzing the problem; he said our problem wasn't surface water, but ground water coming up under the concrete patio. Eventually it finds a way between the concrete pad and the wall foundation, and then it soaks the carpet. He indicated the solution was a trench dug under the interior concrete floor perpendicular to the wall, with a sump pump at the end pumping it outside to the downspout. As a caution, he suggested a similar treatment to the adjoining wall, since the conditions were similar and there was considerable cost avoidance as opposed to having to come back. We scheduled it; they were in/out in two days (the concrete needed to set overnight). They carefully folded the carpet back to be out of the way, and even tested the downspouts to ensure the drain fields were working. The concrete cutting was subcontracted, but Masonry handled everything else. Mike emphasized they would clean everything up, and they really did...aside from the carpet lying a little differently at the edges, you'd never know they'd been here. Considering the dirt and water, it was quite a feat. The only complaint I have is that I wish Mike had been clearer about how the sump pump piping would go through the wall to the outside downspout. It's a good solution, but the outside concrete level is higher than the inside floor level, so it was necessary to exit the wall higher than we realized was necessary when we started. It is as much my responsibility to ask those questions as it is the contractor's. In hindsight I would of considered paying more to dig out the outside concrete and hook up the piping below outside ground level so it would be lower on the inside wall, even below the floor level. The bottom line....we've had 3 or 4 soaking rains over multiple days in the past 6 weeks...and it was dry as a bone in the basement every time. And we never hear the sump pump. Masonry Waterproofing & Drainage Masters LLC did a very good job. I'd hire them again.
Description of Work: Rolled back carpet, cut concrete and dug trench in two directions along walls for drains to meet at the corner, lay in gravel and a seep pipe, instill a sump pump, install piping to outside into downspout, replace concrete and reset carpet.

Byron and his crew were unbelievably professional and did a fantastic job! We have had other contractors in the basement since his installation, and they have commented on what beautiful work he has done. They ran into some problems with excessive water after they started, but they kept pushing forward and found the source of the problem, then fixed the issue, and completed the project on time and within budget. Furthermore, when they left the site, you wouldn't have even known they were there, they cleaned up so well. I highly recommend this company. They were a little more expensive, but Byron's knowledge and assistance was second to none!

These guys were great. Byron knows a lot about drainage and in initial interview told me many things I could do myself to keep water out of the basement. In addition to those tips I had them do above work. They were prompt, thorough, and efficient. I really feel like they did what they needed to do to do the job correctly. In addition to above they put a new fence post in for me and fixed an overhead leaking gutter. All above and beyond what they were there for. Byron treats workers well, and you can really see how this effects the team and how well they work together. I will definitely use them in the future if the need arises.

Masonry Masters (Byron and crew) was very easy to work with, honest, and did an excellent job on both projects to prevent water from coming into our basement. The quote was thorough and Marc was prompt in delivering it. The work proceeded exactly when they said it would and was done on schedule. They moved some plants for us and were very helpful throughout. When we found more repairs to be done in the basement, they came back and did them. They told us exactly what to paint to finish the project. Although the price was more than we had hoped, it came with a 25 year guarantee and there has not been even a hint of a leak since we had it done (and the entire basement was like a sieve before we had the work done). We're very pleased and they were very professional.
Description of Work: Fully waterproofed the exterior of the house (by trenching, drying the cement, sealing with epoxy and putting a thick film layer next to the wall). Repaired foundation inside. Routed downspouts to sprinkler heads away from the foundation. Added new drainage boxes around windows.

Hello, it was really gratifying to come in and be able to help you with the mess that the first contractor made for you. It made me smile to know we were able to quickly point out where he didn't have a clue what he was doing, the shortcuts he took, and how we could make it right for you. Thanks again!
