Description of Work: Our furnace failed at the beginning of a long cold snap. We waited the weekend for regular service. A technician came on Tuesday and proceeded to order the part. We weren't put back on the job schedule when it came in, nor called explaining the delay. Jobs were being prioritized...If I hadn't called after a couple of days longer than expected, how much longer? Courtesy discount?

Description of Work: I had used them earlier for a very expensive Heat Pump plus duct work. They did a good job at that. This time I wanted a gas glass fireplace insert and a gas HWH. I thought the construction crew did an excellent job and the price was as good or better than I could have gotten elsewhere. I thought the crew exceeded my expectations.

Description of Work: Replaced existing forced air gas furnace with high efficiency gas furnace with wifi thermostat. Installers were great. On time and very tidy. Asked for a tutorial on the furnace after installation. That went well and was much appreciated. Lower rating on professionalism and responsiveness because of the sales person who we felt was less than professional.

HORRIBLE DO NOT HIRE
Description of Work: We hired Anctil to replace our furnace and clean out duct work and add/ replace a couple of the duct lines. We had one duct that was rusted out and 50% gone. Antil went ahead and connected the furnace and new ducting to this rotted out piece without concern that it was sitting on mud, delivering foul air throughout our house. At the same time we had them "clean" the ducts and they were supposed to give me a video of the ducts showing the before and after. The video never came which would have shown the compromised duct. Months later when I discovered the condition of that duct and confronted them about it the owner, Mark Hungerford, replied that they will get to the bottom of what happened. After several more attempted contacts by me, Antils only response was silence. Not only was the response of silence a VERY unprofessional reply, but my daughter has had severe allergies as a result of this foul air coming through the house... BEWARE!!! If you value your health, and want a professional handling of you furnace needs, DO NOT HIRE ANCTIL!!!

Response from Anctil Heating and Cooling
Anctil was hired to replace the furnace, vacuum the duct work out, and replace some ducting inside the home. The rusted out section referred to was towards the back of the crawl space, an area we were not working in, and were not asked to inspect. The duct in question had been deteriorating long before the furnace was replaced. Any issues with air quality would have been noticeable for some time. Had any concerns with air flow, or air quality been brought to our attention when we met with the customer to estimate the job, while we’d been there performing the work, or anytime in between we would have been more than happy to address them. There are times, when working in proximity, that we’re lucky enough to spot additional issues like these and bring them to the customer’s attention; unfortunately that was not the case on this occasion. We do not have a videoscope that would have allowed us to video the customer’s entire duct system, so we do not offer that as part of our duct cleaning service. We do offer photos of the cold air returns upon request. These photos would not have indicated the ducting issues described, as the problem areas are too far down the line to be photographed. The rusted out ducting was not discovered until the crawlspace was flooded from a busted city water pipe. This occurred several months after our work was completed. When it was brought to our attention we offered to come out, take a look at the ducting, and assess the situation. Our offer was declined as the ducting was already replaced. At that point there really wasn’t anything else we could do. We understand the customer’s frustration over this discovery and needing to have his insurance cover the damage since the city did not pay for any repairs. It is unfortunate that we are being graded for work we were not asked to do, or look at, as opposed to what we were hired to do; replace the furnace, replace a section of duct work inside the home, and clean the ducts.
