American Leak Detection - Oregon

Tony from American Leak Detection did an excellent job. He was very friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. I appreciated his willingness to explain the process while doing the job. First he needed to debug the location of (a buried) check valve box to start the debug which I didn't know the location of, being the second home owner. He then accurately found the leak using combination of sonic device & inert gas induction. He dug it up to expose a failed elbow joint about 2 feet under the ground on a crushed gravel pathway. At the spot of the failure there was no visible sign of the leak nearby & simply wouldn't have been feasible for me to locate on my own. The job was completed within the allotted time of 2 hours & final cost was exactly what they had quoted. I'd highly recommend their service.

I have 2 leaks outside my home one on the east side of the house and one on the west side of the house Up to the time that American Leak Detection Service came to supposedly help me find the leaks I had spent over $800.00 with other landscapers and plumbers to find these leaks. These contractors were unable to identify and find the leaks, they blamed everything on "groundwater". The "groundwater" only appears when we turn on the drip irrigation system. Because these other contractors were unable to help me, I called American Leak Detection Service who advertised that they could find leaks. They were my last hope of finding the leak on the east side of the house because I knew it would be the most difficult of the two leaks to find. Their advertising touting their equipment and expertise and yes they did say repair in this advertising sounded like an answer to all of my leak related problems. American Leak Detectors were able to identify one leak, the one on the west side of the house, the one that was the most obvious, no they did not even offer repair this leak---my daughter did. Digging down about 16 inches she replaced 25 feet of irrigation pipe that did have some small holes. Because of her effort the leak in this area is fixed. The second leak, the one that is of equal importance, on the east side of the house the "leak detector" looked at as he walked by, did not use any of the special equipment that he had at his disposal, did not even dig down one inch and stated that we had a "groundwater" issue. I was totally taken by surprise. Since when does "groundwater" only seem to really appear when the irrigation is turned on? I was charged a hefty fee (which I paid) for American Leak Detectors to come out here and only complete half of their work. I have called American Leak Finders and lodged a complaint with them---their answer---sorry you feel that way. Yes, I am disappointed and I hope that these kind of issues will never happen to anyone.

Great--after a plumber and another leak detection service (no gas ability) couldn't figure out where the leak was, ES found it. I was very glad after a month of water leaking somewhere along the very long main line. He marked the site well so the plumber could come back and fix everything.

They did okay. They detected it and it works. I had them before.

We had a very high water bill from the city. A city worker came by the house and checked our water meter. It verified that we had a leak. When the sprinkler system was shut off the meter stopped. American leak detection was called since we had used them three years ago. They showed up on time. It took two hours to find the leak which they uncovered. It saved us a lot of time and digging.

We had been having an undetected leak that was impossible to find where. It was using thousands of gallons of water every 2 months. Our bill was $460 for two people every 2 months. We decided to try Angies list for a final solution before spending $19,000 for a new service line for our 900ft main line. First calling I spoke with Shari who set up the appointment. She was able to ask the right questions so the Technician would have the right tools for the job and saved us time and money. Thank you. John was our Tech here on time and very efficient . He worked very hard and was very knowlegable about water systems and trouble shooting. He found the leak. The quality of work was excellent. I would certainly use the service again . Justin, their technician, showed up promptly after driving from Eugene. He opened the valve on the water meter and calculated rate of leakage. Up at the house, he listened for leaks at outside bibs and inside toilets. Came back down to the meter, listened, located the leak within a foot of the valve. Marked it with blue paint. He double-checked his findings, wrote up a summary, took payment, and was off again in less than an hour.

The technician was prompt and professional. The leak was on the small side of what can be detected and 28" in the ground under gravel which made it more difficult. The length of pipe checked was several hundred feet. The leak was not found but the technician did the best job he could. I will definitely use them again if I have a larger leak.

I called these guys because lots of water was in my backyard and we could not find the source. I explained the problem on the phone, was told the cost up front and received a next day appointment. Jerrod, the technician showed up on time, reviewed the situation and immediately began looking for the problem. He looked everywhere and I mean everywhere and checked everything but was unable to find where the water was coming from. We even had him come out again in search of the continuing flow of water in our yard. Later in the summer it was determined to be caused by a large leak in the irrigation district's buried canal pipe above our house. But Jerrod did a super thorough job in trying to find the leak. I can't thank him enough for all he did. The price might seem excessive but when you desperately need to find a leak, these people are the ones to call. Note that they do not fix the leak, only find the leak, so if you know where the water is coming from, these people are not the ones to call. I would definitely call them again if I had a mysterious plumbing leak of any kind and know they would find it for me quickly so I could get it repaired. t

I filled out a service request online and they were very quick to call me to set up an appointment. I was able to get an appointment within a couple of days, which was great. The serviceman showed up on time, was very friendly and helpful. He was at my house for about an hour and was very thorough in detecting where my pipes were leaking without having to cut holes in my walls and make a mess. I would definitely use this company again for leak detection, when you cannot find where a pipe is leaking within walls.

I would use their service again if needed. They were on-time and the guy who came out was really helpful. He had been a plumber in the past and he gave me some extra tips on how to hook the piping back together as there were some extra pieces that I wanted to put in the pipe and he didn’t carry them. He wrote down the parts that I needed.

I don’t know how you find leaks underground without their help. They are able to find the leaks pretty quickly. They inject some sort of gas into the lines and can find the leak by using their equipment. They are just very good at they do and I have used them several times. I would use them again if needed. They do not fix the problem, but are able to locate the leaks. The technicians are always on time and professional.

They were quick to respond and had a couple different effective methods to locate the leak. The time spent locating this leak was about 45 minutes. They were knowledgeable about the different types of pipes and gave some good advice. They did a great job.

They did a good job with the leak detection but the moneyI spent was unnecessary because the tenant was not aware of what to look for. They sent me diagrams/photos and provided a full report.

They did a great job. They found the problem and fixed it. It was hard to do and the guy was able to pinpoint it and get right on top of it. He had to dig down to it and weld it. It was a mess, I felt sorry for him. He ended up staying out really late to get the job done and finish it up. It was a fair price. He came out immediately, otherwise we would have been without water. I had to hold a flashlight for him while he was digging in the mud. I got respect for somebody who is doing that. He was laying on his stomach down in the mud, digging in to it. He did clean his work up.

As I recall, they did the best they could because I had a leak that could not be found. Their service was fine, it was good. It was an expensive project, it cost me $20,000 but within the loan, it probably cost me $3,500-4,000. I’m on a private drive and the water meters are at the top of the hill so it’s quite a distance away. I had to have a company come drill another whole water line and I had to get permission from my neighbors. It was quite a nightmare. They were recommended by someone who came out to do an initial water check. They were professional. They attempted to tell me what the plan was but initially no one knows. As they searched, they most likely did their best in telling me what it was but they couldn’t find it. They thought it was in the middle of my driveway so they dug up part of my driveway only to find out that that wasn’t where it was. At some point, I had to tell them to stop the work because I’m spending thousands of dollars trying to find the leak. It falls to the fault of the people who did the whole neighborhood. They weren’t registered to the county. American Leak Detection didn’t cause a lot of the initial damage but whatever they did, they were unable to fix. They apologized profusely that they couldn’t find and I had to find another company. There were no issues with them. They were really frustrated, they did really wanna help. It wasn’t something that they came out through their hands and say they can’t help you. They genuinely did try to look and see what they could find and spent a number of hours doing that. I’ve been even calling other people from their company to see if they could give me a wider search. But in the end, their hands were tied and it’s too big a task.

The service was good. They got here pretty quick and they have found the leak pretty fast. I will use them again if I needed to.

They were good and fast. They found the leak. They are a little expensive but what’s new in plumbing. They did a good job. Their price was a little high but the people were very good. I think their price is standard in the area for plumbing which is high. They came out in a day or 2. They didn’t come out the same day.

You do not really need to tell them anything. The experience was good overall but you cannot really expect them to run there immediately.
