Location of leak and water line to house was found and marked quickly. A "y" in the piping after it came into the house was not found. (A justification for lower quality rating, but this was not normal and could not have been foreseen easily.) After water line from street was replaced and water was routed to one branch of the "y" and no cold water was available in half the house, the existence of the "y" was realized. Once this was realized, the decision was made to replace all of the plumbing in the house. Probably the only real downside to not knowing the actual location of the pipes is the frustration that the new waterline from the street did not fix the problem and the plumbing work to replace all of the pipes could be scheduled for two weeks.

My rental condo had an apparent underground leak and I was told by the management company that I would need to hire someone myself to find it. American leak Detection was recommended. I called them and the next available time they had was nearly a week away, so I had to wait. On the day the technician, Tony, was able to come over, I went to the location (I live 25 miles away) and he was already on the job, having found the spot where a bad connection 3.5 feet underground was losing water. He was cordial and professional, and explained everything I needed to know. He marked the location in blue for the plumber who would come later to make the repair. I am very satisfied with the service provided.

Eric Sorenson, Leak Specialist, arrived within the specified time frame and clearly explained the process, expectations and cost. Being a senior citizen, he applied their 10% Senior Citizen Discount. Eric determined a leak rate of 1.34 gallons/minute equating to 1,938 gallons/day! He suggested I ask the City of Tigard if they will apply a "leak credit" to my anticipated large water bill. Identifying the pipe as non-metallic, he attached power to the trace wire and marked the pipe's path with blue spray paint. Before injecting inert gas into the system, he reminded me to notify everyone in the home to refrain from turning on any water devices. He located the leak under our front entry walkway about 3.5 feet deep. In addition to locating the leak, he instructed me on how to safely turn on the valve at the garage and how to properly shutoff & drain my outside faucets for cold weather. As you would guess, Eric was very friendly and informative. The next day, I received a copy of the paid invoice and detailed report from American Leak Detection via email ... prompt and clear! Great, they came out and found the leak immediately which allowed the plumber to quickly fix.

Issue found and fixed until worn out part could be obtained. We contacted landscaper who knew how to replace part (floatation device) and now do not have leak. We highly recommend this company if you have concerns about leaks.

We had water coming in under the base board of our guest bedroom, and it took 5 weeks to figure out where it was coming from. We had a plumber come over 2 different times, and 3 different roofers try to figure out where in the heck the water was coming from... And no one could figure it out. It was incredibly frustrating to say the least!! Finally, John from American Leak Detection figured it out! The water was coming from our furnace. The condensation hose was not on tight enough and the water was traveling underneath the tile and into our guest bedroom. Crazy! I can't thank John enough! The leak was noticed in the basement below the kitchen (really a 7" high crawl space) by an electrician. It was inside an external wall of the kitchen, and we initially thought it was coming from a leaky roof vent flashing because it had been raining a lot. A roofer had come out and placed a bit of sealant around a flashing in the area above where the leak was noticed, but the leak continued. Our insurance company recommended American Leak Detection, whom we check out on Angie's List before hiring. Melanie in the office was very helpful and dispatched their guy right away. First he checked the meter to see if it was a constant leak, then he moved to checking the walls. Because there was no visual evidence of a leak in the kitchen, this entailed starting in the wall in the kitchen above where the leak had been noticed. He made small holes in the wall all the way up to the ceiling above a cabinet. Turns out, the leak was in a hot water line beneath an upstairs vanity. Though he did detect the source of the leak, he did not repair it. We had to hire a different plumbing service for that -- not sure why -- so fixing it took another couple of days.

Provider came on the day of service promptly and he was professional from the start (can't say the same about their call center). He checked our toilets, water heater and crawl space to assess the issue. Afterwards he determined the leak was likely occurring outside of the house. He used his tools and instruments to pinpoint the leak. After assessing, the provider was unsure of where the leak was due to his inability to locate the line. The tech drilled several holes into our front walkway slab and flagged a "high probability" leak site. Based off ALD's professional recommendation, I hired plumbers to tear up the slab and there were no leaks in any of those spots. They even went down 4-5 ft. At the end of it all, ALD sent me an invoice and a disclaimer saying they don't guarantee anything if the line is not found. Money out the door with nothing to show for it. They claim to be the experts in their field and strive for complete customer satisfaction. That may be true, but in regards to the work done at my house, they failed on both accounts and therefore they are getting a poor rating from me.

Very friendly and knowledgable specialist, Eric, came at the appointed time to locate water leaks in two different locations on residence. First he located an underground leak near the water meter very quickly. After informing us of his progress he then worked on the pool which had a gradual decrease in water. He located three different leaks using scuba gear. He was able to repair these leaks as well. The estimated time it would take was 4 hours, he was done in around 3. He explained all of his steps in detail. I was able to pay right then with my visa, immediately received email receipt. Very happy with results and pricing.

They responded to our request promptly, and the guy who came out - Justin - was fantastic. Finding the leak was a challenge as the pipes are not metal, and the leak was located under a concrete slab. Justin was able to pinpoint the problem, trace the line for us for ease in capping it, and offered his thoughts on ways to fix the issue. Though I felt the price could have been a bit lower, the service itself was great and Justin was very professional, friendly and capable. Will definitely hire again if needed

After spending over $500 on pond repair people with no luck, this company found the leak. I am so happy, I don't have to add gallons of water and chlorine kill every day.It was worth every penny and the technician was very nice

Justin quickly located the leak with a listening device and confirmed it using helium. He took the extra step of digging down to the point of the leak to visually confirm it. It was at the point of connection between the plastic pipe from the meter and the copper pipe into the home, just as he expected.
