Master Sweep

It went well. He cleaned it up and he was a very nice person. He was professional and in and out quickly.

I am quite happy with the service and feel he was thorough in the inspection and took the time to give me detailed info and answer my questions.

Master Sweep call went very well. They were on time. We had 2 fireplaces to be cleaned, and they told me one was fine and did not need cleaning- which I appreciated. They installed the caps in no time. Alerted me to a potential issue on the chimney- but told me it did not need to be addressed immediately. All within about 45 minutes. They were very careful- and left the place as clean as they found it. Great job. Struck me as very honest too. I will hire them again.

Jason ran a little late, but I was relieved because it was Saturday morning, and I was too! He was very pleasant and informative about what he had found during the exterior inspection, and checked out the chimney from inside. He found some creosotedeposits, but they hadn't yet turned into a tarry substance, which was good. He carefully spread out a tarp before he began cleaning the chimney and fireplace. When I told him that I would be installing gas logs soon, he mentioned that I will need to keep the damper open for ventilation all the time and installed a mechanism to handle that. He also inspected the clean out and told me it was less than half full and no work was required at this time. All in all, Jason was very pleasant and considerate. He wore special footgear to avoid tracking things in and out of the house and the fireplace looked great after the cleaning. I found him a delight to work with and cannot recommend him highly enough.

Our home is 61 years old and has two chimneys, one for the fireplace and the other for the furnace. We haven't owned the home very long, and due to the age of the house, we wanted the fireplace chimney inspected before using it. Jason inspected both chimneys and cleaned the fireplace chimney. He explained why the fireplace chimney has smoke issues and offered two reasonably priced solutions. He also explained that the furnace chimney will need repair within 1-3 years but that the repairs are not urgent. His quote for those repairs was also reasonable. Jason and his helper arrived timely, worked clean and left the house clean, and were polite and friendly. We certainly recommend them to our fellow Angie's List members.

Jason arrived right on time. He is very professional and neat. He is easy to talk to and definitely knows his business. I feel very confident in his work and will definitely have him come back soon to do the necessary repair work on my chimney.

It was fine. He arrived when schedule, he was pleasant to deal with, seemed very competent, and accomplished the cleaning in a very tidy way. We had no need to clean up anything afterward.

I had gotten this from Angie's List Big Deal and chose it because of the Super status. I paid $95 plus another $125 for a cover over the top of my chimney. Jason was very, very good! He explained everything and even did an extra caulking at no charge. He was excellent and efficient. I would recommend him any time.

He arrived on time, was very knowledgeable and helpful in that he made recommendations to avoid future issues. No pressure to and even explained why some needed work could wait.

He was punctual and professional. He discovered some issues with the counter-flashing at the chimney, but suggested we talk to the roofing contractor who replaced our roof earlier the same year, rather than paying him to do the extra work. He caulked the chimney at the counter-flashing to keep the rain out until our roofing contractor could address the issue. He also suggested that we consider adding a chimney cap, but didn't pressure us to do so right away. He gave us a written bid to replace the counter-flashing (if it hadn't been part of our roofer's bid) and a separate bid to add a chimney cap. Overall, he was professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. We will definitely call him again.

I would recommend Master Sweep to anyone, without reservation. This company is prompt, extremely knowledgeable, very pleasant, and their pricing is very fair. Their service was well beyond my expectation of just cleaning my fireplaces. My chimneys were inspected and recommendations and an estimate were given. I also received an understandable and thorough explanation for all future services that were suggested. Master Sweep installed a new dryer vent for me after discovering that the drier currently wasn't venting at all. This may have saved me from a fire. They even fixed some loose screws on one of my doors with no charge. What a nice gesture! As long as Master Sweep is in business, which I hope is a long time, I wouldn't even consider using anyone else.

I bought my house in September 2008 where the previous homeowner had neglected the house for at least fifteen years prior just doing the bare minimum. I needed someone to do a full cleaning, then tell me, based on its current state, what needed to be done in order for the fireplace (an old regular fireplace converted to gas) to be fully functional again. Major cracks were found and the outside of the chimney was in bad shape with sections peeling away. He gave an estimate of about $2000 (combined) for completing the interior work (one phase) and for completion of work on the exterior of the chimney (second phase). This also included a new hood as water occasionally falls through the chimney and drips into the fireplace during heavy rain. A new stainless steel with a pitched roof was recommended and was included in the bid; my current one was black with a flat roof. He also recommended a glass doors (bi-fold) to prevent a draft when the fireplace is fully functional (I can easily find and buy and have him install) as the dampener has to be kept open at all times (I think it is code as just in case of a gas leak). I stuck some pink panther up there for now to prevent heat loss. The interior work can be done anytime, but he recommended doing the exterior work in mid-July or so when it is dry, and then let it dry out awhile (until September or so) in case I want to paint. Jason was very pleasant work with.

He was 3 minutes early (perfectly on time in my book!); personable, professional, thorough, knowledgeable and quick! He cleaned inside & out, up & down. He was really fascinated with how well our chimney was working despite it's structural limitations - of which I was already aware. He gave me a fair assessment of our chimney, suggesting a future maintenance plan and time line for the issues we would be experiencing and put everything in writing. Then he kept adding things he would do when/if we hired him to do the things that would surely need to be done - at the original bid. We've used other Sweeps in the past - he's our guy in the future!

When he heard I found him on Angie's List and that I had two chimneys in need of immediate cleaning and two more in the very near future he have me an excellent price. He took off his shoes and left the unit clean. Gave me estimate to do other work in the summer. Very fair pricing, professional and overall I am very pleased.

Jason had initially looked at the damper as a favor; he was doing other work at the house and didn't have time to fix it. He showed up a few minutes late. No biggie as he had called me beforehand and let me know. Gave me the option to reschedule if I needed to. He brought all the parts needed and got the job done quickly. Let me know he had done some additional caulking work because a previous install had not been done correctly. Pointed out that a cap installed earlier should have lasted ~50 years but was rusting out. He noted this as a thing to watch for during yearly inspections and to replace in 5-7 years. Took the time after he was complete to review usage, things to look for, etc. Professional and pleasant to work with. Will continue to use him for ongoing yearly maintenance and repairs.

Most impressive work and very reasonable. When he told me about the dangerous flue liner, he was positively shocked and concerned for my safety. He will do all my chimney work from now on!

We had not swept the chimney in our Mt. Hood log cabin for several years. Jason arrived promptly, did the job, and identified some additional work that we had not anticipated. We were pleased with the additional repairs that he made (re-mortar of the concrete blocks) and with the sealant that he applied. We will use this company again in future years.

Jason did a great job - was very thorough and professional. He showed up a little late (prior job took longer than expected - understandable), but he more than made up for it by doing a great job. We were concerned about it being messy and he took many precautions to ensure our house stay clean. He was very patient and helpful with a couple of old wood stove insert pieces that were left from some wood stoves we recently removed. The pieces had to come out before he could clean the flues and he helped get the pieces out, which took longer and was more work, but he did not charge me for this. He also pointed out a few repairs we should have done and gave us a quote for the repairs, but there was no pressure at all to obtain these additional services from him. In fact he said we should just have the repairs done in the next few years. We were very happy with his work.

We used this company initially about four years ago - to rebuild the firebox and extend the height of the chimney in order to bring it into code. The original repair work was excellent so we have used the company since then for annual chimney cleanings. Prompt, courteous and professional. No negative elements to the experience.

Very well. He was easy to get on the phone, make an appointment, and he arrived on time on the date we agreed on. He was very professional, worked quickly and neatly and discussed problems and made suggestions. He also made minor repairs to my flashing without extra charges because I was an Angie's list customer. He also honored the $20 off coupon from the Angie's List Newsletter. Overall it was a good experience.

Jason came to the house and looked at the chimney and determined it was fine at this point and didn't need to be cleaned. He checked out the chimney on the roof and all was good there too. I offered to pay him for the visit and he told me no, it was free for the estimate. He was very trustworthy and professional. I would definitely use him again in the future.

Jason arrived on time and looked and acted very professionally. He gave us great advice on our chimney and where he could have tried to capitalize on our lack of "chimney knowledge" he did not - he was extremely honest. Not only that, he threw in a little grout work on our fireplace as he saw that it needed doing. I asked him to put us on his call list for next year and he said that we probably only needed a sweep every year but I asked him to call us anyway. Excellent service and we would recommend him highly.
