Master Sweep

Overall one of the best chimney sweeps we have had in over a decade. We have been using wood as our primary heat for 20+ years and have been through many chimney sweep companies. These guys were on time,very thorugh and impressed us with the extra cleaning of the woodstove interior including the glass door. Not a big deal but no one else ever did. Also instead of cleaning the cap on the roof and leaving a mess everywhere, he came off the roof and cleaned it in his truck and took the mess with him. Again I would have to say one of the best ever and will use them every year from here on out

Jason arrived for a chimney sweep, was friendly and courteous of removing shoes before entering the home, and putting down a tarp when vaccumming out the fireplace after the sweep was completed. We were most impressed with his advice regarding the counter flashing that had been recently put on by our roofers, when we had the roof done in July. Apparently it was done so incorrectly that the roof would be sure to be leaking by winter if not fixed. That was invaluable advice because now we have our roofers coming back out to review the job, and repair their flashing. Jason also suggested we put a stainless top on our chimney, to prevent rain damage to our existing old bricks, and keep birds out (we had problems with nest building this year). It was an extremely efficient service. He recommended getting the old mortar fixed next June, and having the whole chimney waterproof sealed. He supplied us a bid that seemed very competitive and fair, and will be contacting us in June to follow up for the work. I would definitely hire this company again.

The service was performed as advertised and the price agreed over the phone. Jason clearly has tons of knowledge and offered his opinion when asked.

Chimney was tuck pointed with quite a mess left on surrounding plants and ground. We were told the chimney had to cure for thirty days and they would return to paint. We have called three times and had no response to messages left.

I was really impressed with the time he spent making sure everything was good to go and that I was happy with the work. I would definitely call them again and recommend them to anyone needing this service.

They inspected the fireplaces and chimneys from top to bottom and reported they didn't need cleaning. Asked if there was a charge for services for just an inspection and they said no and that they would call in two years to ask if we would again like their services. They were very professional offering excellent advice based on many years of experience. Would not hesitate to call them again for chimney cleaning services.

Jason and crew were punctual, considerate, knowledgeable, clean and professional. What else do you want in a contractor? They did a thorough job quickly and even cleaned the glass on the stove. Would hire again in a heartbeat.

As described above, Master Sweep (Jason & Jeff) arrived early (after a phone call for an okay), layed out the tarps, explained the procedure and started to work. When they pulled the chimney liner, they showed me the pipe and the problem. They connected the pipe, replaced it, cleaned the chimney and fire box along with the baffles. They advised of a small problem but it did not need replaced at this time. They additionally connected another part on the chimney/cap. They were ver effecient, professisonal and explaind all that was necessary. They will be back in approximately 6 months,at no charge, for a reinspection to see that all is still fine.

The owner came to look at my chimeny. He was awesome! He scheduled the repair for about a month later as he does most of the work personally and I guess summertime is high season. On the repair date, he and his partner came early and finished really quick. He was very friendly, very informative, courteous and helpful. I will definitely call on him again in the future when needed. They were a delight to work with.

GREAT. Jason is easy to work with, very professional and does a great job. He has cleaned a couple chimneys for us on rental houses we own. He has also done repair work. We would absolutely recommend him.

What can I say, I have no complaints. He provided a fair price, is pleasant to speak with and did the job right.

Jason and his crew were very punctual and professional. He was careful to cover his shoes and put down drop cloths while cleaning our chimney - not a spec of dirt or soot in the house and I really appreciated that. He was very knowledgeable, helpful, and patient with all our questions. He suggested simple and affordable solutions to the moisture issues we'd been having at the top of the chimney and the little bit of smoke leakage since we started using a fireback. He very quickly and efficiently installed a smoke guard in our firebox and a cap on our chimney, plus he painted our flashing with with rust-proof paint free of charge.

Only spoke briefly to Jason on the phone. Other than it taking longer than I was willing to wait for rescheduling the estimate I have nothing I can further report about this contractor.

I liked that Jason returned all my calls promptly (we played phone tag). He arrived on the designated day on time. He initially thought that there wasn't enough clearance between the stove and the wall. After doing the cleaning from the top (roof) down (vacuuming the stove), he got out his mirror to read the back of the stove. He was surprised that our stove allowed so little clearance, but then stated that it was up to code after all. (I liked that he admitted that he was mistaken.) I did have to remind him to clean the glass (I don't know why chimney sweepers don't do this?), but then he did. He told me that I was cleaning the stove just in time since I had 1/8" of soot built up over the last several years since it was last cleaned. I liked that Jason gave me a "Angie's List" discount.

He came, he cleaned and put up a chimney cap, told me everything, and left. Very personable, very efficient.

bought the angies list big deal for a chimney sweep. jason scheduled the service and performed the sweep. professional, on schedule, and quick. recommended a chimney cap and installed it. they were here for less than an hour. very professional, clean and easy to work with.

They were very punctual and thorough. Cleaned the chimney and left no trace of themselves after. Got good information on the condition of the chimney liner. Recommended recaulking around the chimney on the roof. They don't sell these services but gave me valuable information. I have already recommended them to others.

We hired Jason to do a chimney sweep because we were having trouble with our wood stove. He took time to evaluate the problem and, knowing that we were uncertain about whether we wanted to keep this wood stove for the long run, how to repair in least costly way. I will refer him to my real estate clients and to all our family and friends who are need of service!

I am sorry to say I did not find Master Sweep until after we'd had our chimney rebuilt by another company. The other company was supposed to clean and inspect our chimney as part of their repair service but we began to have concerns, for a variety of reasons, once the work had begun. In the end, the repair is adequate but not great and the promised inspection and cleaning never occured. I ended up finding and calling Jason at Master Sweep to calm my fears, have the chimney cleaned and inspected, and possibly have more work done that the first guy sprung on us last minute - at an additional charge. I let Jason know up front what was going on so he could have the option of declinging if he did not want to get involved. He was very helpful and considerate over the phone, was more than happy to come take a look, and even offered to do the cleaning at his current coupon price. He also would give me a bid if indeed the extra work sprung on us by the first guy needed to be done. On the day he planned to come out he called asking if he could come early because he was in the area and his other job was completed sooner than expected. Great, come on over! After inspecting the chimney it was determined that we did indeed need the additional work but his price was far more reasonable than the first guy AND he determined that our chimney did not need a cleaning at this time. He said we could go ahead and have the added work done now or we could wait until a cleaning was in order but that wouldn't be for another 2 or 3 years depending on how much we use the fireplace. He also calmed my fears as far as the usability and safety of the chimney. Since he didn't actually clean the chimney he called it an estimate call and did not charge me. I appreciated his honesty and willingness to come out and possibly "clean up after someone else' mistake." He could have gone through the motions of cleaning and charged me and I would not have known the difference as I've never had a chimney cleaned before. Thank you so much Mr. Dunn. When we are ready to have the additional work and cleaning done we will definitely call Master Sweep.

Mr. Doran and his brother arrived on time and did the cleaning and inspection without delay and efficiently. I am very impressed with their service, and trust them to do complete and conscientious service. I would recommend them to anyone.

Everything went well with them. There has been much rain, so it took a little longer but they came out and did a nice job. They were open to answering questions. Nobody left a mess. They did a good job. My neighbor saw their work, and they are asking for a bid.

The first day, Jason came and fully inspected the fireplace and chimney. He recommended that I fill some cracks on the inside of the firebox, which he said was a safety hazard, and caulk some flashing on the exterior of the chimney to prevent leaking into the attic. He came a week later to complete this work and a full cleaning. He was prompt, knowledgeable, curteous and professional. I would definitely recommend Master Sweep.

Great experience all around. Jason got back to me immediately and stopped by a few days later (it might even have been the next day) to give me a quote on everything mentioned above. My budget allowed for the sweeping and cap for the moment, so we made an appointment for him to come out and do those. I loved that he took one look up my chimney and told me a whole bunch of stuff on how the fireplace and chimney were originally built, what caused a chimney fire that had happened at one point (didn't know about this), and why it had likely been converted to gas. History lesson on my house! Jason arrived right on time both times he was here. The work he did today was great and he was really pleasant to be around. He is very conscientious about what he does and interested in all of the details of his trade. I learned a bunch of stuff from him. He' was really careful not to spread any of the dirt and actually left my fireplace and surround looking cleaner than it was before. He took the time to remove a piece of metal that was hanging down and had no more use, and he brought some stuff to see if it would help clean the brickwork on the chimney for cosmetic reasons (it didn't - but I think it was nice of him to try). I chose Master Sweep because of his great reviews, and because he had a special on the sweeping portion. I did have a listen around (always do) to see if the price he quoted me on the rain cap was in the ballpark. It was better than what another company told me on the phone. I look forward to having him do the repair work I need done, and I will be recommending him to my friends.

He actually called to see if he could come early because he was ahead of schedule. He covered the floor and worked very quickly. He also educated us about our fireplace and why we were getting some smoke in the living room during fires. We will use him again to take down the old oil chimney this summer.
