+ 1 moreThey originally came over to do a routine chimney sweep, but after examining the pellet stove, they recommend some much needed improvements. They came back within a week a replaced the steel liner, top plate etc. and did a fantastic job; not only in the installation, but also the cleaning of the chimney and dryer vent. These guys are awesome, thorough and go the extra mile to make sure everything is to your satisfaction. I highly recommend their services.
Description of Work: They installed a 4" steel liner new black breeching; top plate, storm collar. They also installed sheet metal screws for dryer vent at no charge.

+ -1 moreMaster Sweep came to our house to assess water coming down the chimney and wall adjacent to it. I liked their explanation and price so that is why I chose them. Their punctuality was an issue, however the price was right. They tuck-pointed the chimney, replaced the flashing and painted the chimney. The job took about 2 months to complete. The most important element of all of this is that the repairs worked.

+ -1 moreThey provided the service I paid for through an Angies List Big Deal; they were timely and professional. The quality of work for the actual service was good, however cleanup could be a little better. Since soot and ash are very dusty, I would have appreciated wiping down the wood stove surface afterwards as well as vacuum an area of the carpet that had very light black soot remnants which I noticed after they left. It vacuumed right up but I would have appreciated that they did this during their cleanup. Overall though the rest of the job was well done.

+ -1 moreThey were punctual and very professional. One guy came in the house and did a great job. Another guy came out and cleaned the wrong flue. They did not offer to come back and clean the right flue. My husband went out and cleaned it himself instead. We will not be using them again in the future.

+ 1 moreWhen I originally called to schedule the appointment, they were extremely busy, but they were very accommodating and were able to squeeze me in. They were very courteous and professional. The customer service seemed to be number one.
Description of Work: I had originally purchased a Big Deal for their chimney sweep services, but when he came out, he said I didn't actually need the service. Instead, he gave me a free estimate on installing a stainless cap and weather protection for the brick.

+ 0 moreThe dryer duct cleaner did a great job but the machine he used rubbed the paint off the wall behind the dryer (not a huge deal, who looks back there anyway?) . The Chimney sweep was through, although didn't fill out the inspection report and left soot everywhere he went, including the wash room where he assisted the dryer duct cleaner. So I'm giving them an "A" for Price, Quality, Responsiveness, and a C for Professionalism for the paint and the soot.
Description of Work: This was an Angies List special $145.00 we got the dryer ducting and chimney cleaned.

+ -1 moreCalled for dryer vent cleaning. They came out and found we needed vent work (I agree). A quote was promised by the next day, 2/10/12. After not receiving the quote, I emailed them a week later, but still no quote as of 3/1/12. Not recommended.

+ 1 more.After buying the "Big Deal" coupon, I called immediately to make an appointment. The company was scheduling a few weeks out because they were busy, and was trying to save time by organizing service calls by geographical area (which seemed smart to me). The chimney sweeps arrived on time, and after a few minutes looking at the roof, told me my chimney was sound and did not need any repairs. I did need a chimney cap, and I had intended to install one long ago, so when they offered to install one for $125 (in addition to the $99 for the sweeping), I gave my OK. That seemed a very fair price. They noted that my chimney had significant buildup, but said nothing more than the usual sweep was necessary. The chimney sweeping and installation of the cap were done in less than an hour, and no trace of ash or dirt was left behind. The chimney cap looks great. I couldn't be happier.

Description of Work: On January 29, 2012 I used a coupon for $149.00 for a chimney sweep and dryer vent cleaning. I called Jason Doran and made an appointment for Friday, February 17, 2012, for him to arrive between noon and 4:00 PM. On February 15, 2012 I called asking if he could make the time after 2:00PM. On February 16, 2012 Jason returned my call and advised he would make my appointment the last of the day on February 17th, between 2:00 - 4:00 PM. By 5:00 PM on the 17th he had not yet arrived. I phoned, got his voicemail. and left a message. On Monday, February 20, 2012 I again called Jason's number and left another message at 12:45. At approximately 4:15 PM I received a call from a female saying Jason was busy and would like to reschedule. He had been "tied up on Friday". I told the female I would have to check my calendar and would call her back. She said fine and would be available to set up my new appointment. I tried calling at 4:30, got only the voicemail, left another message. So far I've been treated in a very unprofessional manner, have nothing to show for my money, don't know if I will ever get my chimney cleaned and have no idea how to get a refund. DO NOT USE MASTER SWEEP. This is my first transaction with Angie's List and I am not at all happy, to say the least. I was under the impression that firms listed were professional and above board. Certainly not Master Sweep. How do I get my money back? Should I trust another Angie's List firm?

+ 2 moreJason and his associate arrived early. Without being asked, they removed their shoes. .They got to work right away. Jason fixed our damper at no extra charge, swept the chimney, inspected the roof, and recommended a cap, which we purchased for an additional $150. Then he spent an extra 20 minutes showing us how to build a good fire since we hadn't had one for years (because our damper was broken). He gave tips on how to avoid a back draft which used to blow smoke into the house. He even went outside, in the rain and mud, dug through a pile of old wood, broke it into the right size, and brought it in to build the fire. Meanwhile, the other dude cleaned our dryer vent. Had we known how much of a difference this makes, we would have had it done years ago. The time to dry clothes and towels with a clean vent was literally cut in HALF. It's just amazing. He said at some point we should get a new vent hose that leads from the dryer to the outside of the house. I was impressed that he didn't try to sell us something we could live without for now. He was just honest and said it could wait, but said the chimney cap was important to avoid getting moisture in the chimney and roof area around the chimney. He could see deterioration already and said we needed the cap to stop further damage. So that's about it. We would definitely hire them again and recommend them to a friend. Without Angie's List, we wouldn't have found them.
Description of Work: They had a special for $150 for a dryer vent cleaning and chimney sweep. We also purchased a chimney cap that they installed for an additional $150.

Description of Work: Jason and his partner cleaned my 20 year old chimney that had not ever been cleaned. Jason and his partner arrived at my house promptly and did an inspection, cleaned my chimney and completed the job quickly and very professionally. Jason was respectful of my family room where the fireplace is in that after he cleaned the chimney he was careful to clean up the area where he worked. While Jason was cleaning my chimney, his partner worked on cleaning my clothes dryer vents which had never been cleaned. He did a fantastic job. Jason also offered tips on how to keep my chimney clean and told me what would probably need to be replaced sometime in the next 5 years. I appreciated the fact he didn't try to sell me something I didn't need right away. Master sweep is a professional company from start to finish. Very glad I selected Master Sweep for their service.

The chimney sweep costed me $99 which was the deal that I got from Angie’s list and then the follow up work was about $400. I will use their services again in the future if I need to.

I also had them install a flue system because I had a wood stone that I have removed. They showed up early and were very thorough cleaning the wood stove and chimney and doing the safety inspection. + -1 moreThe cleaner showed up on time. We had an emergency during that time so a friend let him in the house to clean the chimney. Our friend was told that it really needed to be cleaned. There was an Angie's List Special so we wound up paying about $50 less that it normally would have cost and the house was very clean when we came home. The wood stove has worked very well since being cleaned.
Description of Work: We hired Master Sweep to clean out the chimney of our 26-year-old wood stove (which had never been cleaned before); and, which we use in the winter-time approx. 4 times per week.
