I think it was very good. There is difficult access to our house because we live on a hill so they carried everything up. There were no problems. They finished it on time. I thought the subcontractor that actually built the patio was also great. They worked hard and were very professional. They made suggestions to small changes here and there.
Description of Work: They built a patio.

Their service was outstanding. The young gentlemen, who came to our house, first designed everything and showed us what it would look like beforehand. Their product is excellent. They were very clean; I’ve never seen such clean people. We didn’t even know they were here because they were so quiet.

See above. We are not going with System Pavers because they did not do the project due to the tree root situation. Every time I emailed them, there was never a response.
Description of Work: When the original guy came to our house, we purposely told him we needed pavers because the tree roots were pulling up the cement. He did not factor in what the roots would mean and didn't tell the work crew about the problem. My husband stopped them cutting the roots until an arborist came. We had done the demolition of the cement ourselves. The told us that if the roots were cut, we would lose the tree. If System Pavers would have done they demolition, they would have been responsible for the tree. (We were told it would take maybe 5 years before the tree would be totally dead, way after System Pavers was done.) We are most upset that the original guy didn't factor into the project the tree roots, and the tree removal. Now that we have to remove the tree, we won't need pavers because there won't be any roots bringing up the cement. They did send a reimbursement check but put the wrong person's name on it.

On 1/21/13, we met with a salesman, signed a contract and gave them a 10% down payment. Part of the sales pitch that convinced us to go with SystemPavers was the salesman's assurance that they had an A rating with Angies list and that they had even been called out by Angie's list for special recognition. We then joined Angies list to check out the claim and found that SystemPavers actually had a B rating and several unhappy customers. When we confronted the salesman with this information, he claimed that they did have an A rating on Angie's list and he didn't understand why we were seeing something different on the Angies list website. (We verified that a second claim he made that they have a high rating on the GuildQuality.com website was true). A few days later, the salesman provided us with several digital renderings of our house with some designs for the driveway overlaid on them. We were not satisfied with the designs, so accepted the salesman's offer to come out to the showroom to see the paver options they had available. We settled on something, but still didn't feel it fit our vision of what we wanted. We were also uncomfortable with the salesman's assurance that we could work out any details we were concerned about during the walk-through when the work was initiated. [The walk-through was to be done by the salesman, who would instruct a local crew contracted by SystemPavers. As we learned, SystemPavers is only a sales company and do not have crews of their own.] It was becoming apparent to us that we needed to work with a landscape designer to get what we wanted. Although SystemPaver's business model may work well for many people, it wasn't going to work for us. We communicated this to the salesman and to his manager. The sales manager offered to send the salesman back out to work through the design with us, but by this time we knew we had made a mistake and were ready to cut our losses and move on. On 2/19/13 we sent an email to our salesman's manager with a follow-up to the salesman on 2/21/13. We politely communicated that we had decided not to work with them on the project and requested a partial return of our down payment. We told them we considered it fair for them to deduct any post-sales costs they had incurred while working with us. We never received a response of any kind ... not even a note saying that they were sorry to see us go but would not be able to return our down payment.
Description of Work: No work was performed. We backed out of the contract for reasons described below.

Met with rep at Garden Show and made an appointment. Meeting was verified numerous times by phone and email. Rep showed up on time and walked my wife and I through the estimate. He offered price discounts for the show and for paying in cash. Price was less than non-wood deck and also included pathway pavers. We felt price was good. Presentation was not "high-pressure" and very professional. Office called and made an appointment for construction manager to come out which he did on-time. Workers began that morning and took about 2 days to complete. Patio looks good and is just what we wanted.
Description of Work: Installed a 16' x 4' paver patio plus walkway.

This project went well. The biggest reason we chose System Pavers over Woody's landscaping was price and the ability for a short term finance arrangement. System PAvers is a national company with an outstanding warranty program as well. The contractor they hired to actually perform the work did a great job. They left a little bit of trash at the end of the job but the System's reps came and took care of that. I would absolutely recommend System Pavers.
Description of Work: Install pavers and garden boxes.
Got a friendly and low pressure bid. Once I chose to move forward the process was simple. Everyone took the time to make sure they got it right the first time. They were able to schedule the install the next week. I did a patio with fire pit and walkway around the side of the house. It took a full week but the detail was superb and the workers left the place clean and organized each day. The finished product looks awesome and I'll probably do more in the future. The only negative aspect was that some neighbors felt the dust created by the process of cutting the stones was a bit much, and my house needed a good cleaning after, but hey, it's stone cutting. It was a small price to pay for an incredible looking patio.
Description of Work: I love it

They started the work in May and it has yet to be completed. They had to come back multiple times for the turf. They replaced it once and the other times had to tighted the turf. The pavers have yet to be completed. They had to come back and replace some pavers and now am waiting for the weather to be warmer and dry to make the final steps toward completion of the project. They would say they would be back at a certain date and then maybe a month later show up. I am obviously not impressed with their professionalism and am unhappy with most of the workers that were here, not just because of the work itself, but because of their attitude. The turnover at the company also made it hard since I had to deal with different managers. The final project will look very good, but it has obviously taken way to long, especially considering that I have a very small courtyard.

They leveled out my previously unusable backyard, and created a beautiful paver patio, stairs, and retaining wall. It was a tricky project so I appreciate their professionalism. Mike, who came over for the estimate, was much more thorough in his planning than a previous company I had over for an estimate. The project manager Eric was very pleasant and accomodating, and checked in regularly on the patio's progress. The crew that came to my house was fast, hard working, and professional. Very excited to use that space now, it looks great. My only regret is not being able to hire them to do more. They're a little pricier than others, but you're getting what you pay for. A 25-year warranty on labor is unbeatable, and can't be found anywhere else. I'm looking forward to having them back next year to replace my concrete driveway. Highly recommended.

.I called the 1-800 phone number on a Sunday (holiday) and talked to a rep who was friendly and set up an appointment within a few days. The salesman arrived on time. He looked over the area, took some measurements and gave us his estimate of $6,700. My jaw dropped and I said he could leave because there was no way we were paying that much for such a small job. The salesman immediately said if I was willing to put a sign in front of the house advertising that we used them he would drop the price to $3,700. I still said it was too much money. The salesman left. The next day, he called and said the work was really slow and he was going to have to lay off some people, so would we consider hiring them and he would arrange to put in a concrete beam on an exiting path we had already put in that was shifting. I thanked him and told him I wasn't willing to pay the quoted price. I said $2,000 for the path. He said he couldn't possibly lower the price because he was already asking less than he should be asking. We then hung up. 30 minutes later, he called back to see if there was some price we could agree on. In the end, I caved and agreed to $3,000 for the path and to fix the old walkway. The crew showed up the day before the job was to begin and parked the truck with the equipment in front of the house without consulting with us first. It's clear they were subcontracted onto this job. The truck had advertising for a completely different landscaping company. The next morning, the crew showed up early and worked through the day. When I arrived home, I noticed several problems. The crew built the path 1/2 foot too wide so it was right on the property line. They forgot to put in the gray border running against the house. And, the pattern was not what we had requested. Luckily, the neighbors are nice people and said it didn't bother them that the path was right on the property line. The crew didn't seem to think it was big deal and said they should appreciate having a nice path instead of mud to walk on. The crew cleaned up everything at the end of the day. The crew leader then asked if he could leave the trucks parked on the street for a day or two until they got another job. What was I going to say - it's a public street. The company rep called two days later to schedule an appointment for a final walk through. She asked if I was happy with the project. I told her no - the path was too wide, the pattern was wrong and the border was missing on one side. She sounded surprised and said she would call back. She called back and confirmed the crew made some mistakes (width and border). However, the pattern I said that we wanted was not written down on the final order, so that was not their mistake. She was also surprised the trucks were still parked at the house and said they would be gone by the end of the day. (They were gone when I arrived). When the guy showed up for the final approval, he offered to have the crew come back out and redo the path. But, I definitely didn't trust this crew to do the job right and I just wanted to be done with this company and send them on their way. The path is nice and solid. There's nothing wrong with it and it will probably last for 25 years. No one other than my husband and I will every know it's not what we ordered. But, at $3,000, it's disappointing we didn't get what we ordered.
Description of Work: We had mud and weeds running along the garage wall at the end of our house. My husband and I wanted a nice, solid path that we could use throughout the year to go from the back yard to the front yard. Our property is at the bottom of a hill and also wanted to put in a drain to make sure the water draining from above was not going to soak the ground and seep into the crawl space. Length 32 feet. Width 4 feet.

I was having a drain put in so the water would not go under the house. When they were ¾ done they asked me that the deal was with the drain. He was making it flat, if you weren?t sloping toward the drain why would you put it in!? I called him back to have him do some repairs after warrantee (in 2012). They gave me a fair price; I thought they were trying to ease the original install. It turns out that price was not good instead of telling me over the phone they emailed me that they would not honor it even though I was waiting for a phone call. If I wanted a new bid I was to call someone else to set that up.
Description of Work: I had problems with the workers. One of the technicians was caught peeing on the fence outside.

It's a nationwide firm. I liked that they actually knew how to put in the contract specifics that I wanted. I felt that they were competent at doing their job but they were not good at quality control which they could have been. I come from an engineering background so there were a couple of things I typically wanted done when building the wall. They started out just doing the minimum which was actually less than minimum. They were quick to re-correct the situation when I pointed it out but I had to be there to watch them. It was the quality control issues that I didn't like them for but they were prompt. Once I was watching them they did exactly what I asked them to do. My concern is that they need to be watched because quality control is not there. I think the price was a little high. I would use them again but I would be cautious.
Description of Work: I used System Pavers in December to build a retaining wall and a staircase in the yard.
First of all the gentlemen that do the paving work and lay the pavers are very good craftsmen but I do have a issue I'm not happy about an in fact I really do need to call them again because when I have the planter built it is a long planter down the whole length of the side yard area and they didn't account for neccessary drainage. I have water that ponds and when I called them about it they sent people out that evidently no longer actually contracted with but they had them come out and supposedly create a drainage which is not working. So for the amount of money I have spent with this company because I used them twice I really think feel they should pay more attention to what my problems are. They are really actually nice people to work with when they are here but once they are gone that is when my issue comes up. I have to call them again because now I am learning that now I have a pond of water when it rains in an area that is not suppose to have a pond of water.
Description of Work: System Pavers saw my review and contacted me. They sent someone out to fix the problem. They truely do want the customer to be happy and satisfied. I used System Pavers a couple of times to replace my patio, walkway in the backyard, and built two retaining walls and a planter.

l I had a mossy, slick sidewalk on the side of my house, an old concrete walkway expanded with bricks set in sand in wood frames reaching to a short garden wall of pressure treated lumber (starting to rot at bottom). Systems Pavers was offering a free design session so i took them up on it. Doug came out on a Friday and in a matter of 90 minutes, he had it designed, measured, pavers selected and cost estimated. He is a wealth of information about construction and landscaping, quickly figuring where drains needed to be placed and giving me tips on how to avoid some future water-run-off related issues on my property. Doug told me about some great financing plans offered by Systems Pavers and gave me discounts for having the work done in December.I called to get the 1 year, no payment, no interest financing -- was approved during the phone call. Doug came back out Sunday so i could sign the fixed price contract. Sean was the construction supervisor of my project. Sean and Doug met me Monday to walk-through the job. Work started the next Tuesday and was completely done on Thursday. The job site was neat at the end of every day. The workmanship is excellent, as is the quality of the pavers used (no color fading). They had to haul out a lot of concrete and old brick and wood, so my front lawn has wheelbarrow tracks, but Systems Pavers said they would re-seed for me in the spring if it doesn't come back in. I'm very happy with the project, the quality of the outcome (there is a 25-year parts AND labor warranty), and the expediency of getting the work done. They were great to work with, very knowledgeable and skilled. I would definitely recommend them!
Description of Work: Demolition of old concrete and brick walkway on side of house. Removal of all material. Grading, drainage and new pavers covering the entire area -- creating a nice patio on the side of the house. Also replaced a low garden wall of deteriorating pressure-treated lumber with pavers and a stone cap for sitting anywhere along the wall. Project was designed and cost estimated in 90 minutes on a Friday. One year, no payment due, no interest owed financing secured from Systems Pavers same day. Work started the next Tuesday and was completed by Thursday. End result is beautiful, more functional (level, good drainage), and safer (not slippery). I'm thrilled!

All work was performed by a subcontractor, a three man crew from Greenwood Landscape. The job was completed in three days. The Greenwood Landscape crew arrived early, worked steadily and efficiently, were always courteous, and cleaned up the worksite before leaving each evening. System Pavers people were not involved in any of the actual work. My impression is they are a sales/management company. The System Pavers "Field Supervisor" seemed inexperienced and less than knowledgeable. For example, he did not apply the Angie's List 10% of coupon for the change order (regular sand to Polly [sic] sand) because he, "never heard of Angie's List", he did not respond to email because ?they? didn?t give him a Blackberry, and did not provide a credible response to my concern about the pavers being butted up against the siding rather than the concrete foundation. Additional Details: I called the System Pavers toll free number in response to a door knob flyer to make an appointment with a "consultant". I told them that I called because I liked the pavers shown in their flyer and requested that their "consultant" bring a sample of the pavers on the flyer for us to inspect. The "Design Consultant" (salesman?) arrived sans the sample I had requested. He showed us coloured pictures and glossy brochures and pitched the 25 Year Installation/Lifetime Material Warranty. He offered a discount if we agreed to allow: a System Pavers sign at the front of the house, before and after pictures of the patio/wall, and "drive by" viewing for potential customers. He also accepted the Angie's List 10% of coupon and promised that the job would be started in a week. I ask him why System Pavers got a "B" on Angie's List. He knew about Angie's List but did not provide a satisfactory response to my question. The "Field Supervisor" arrived on the start date (about an hour after the work crew). There was no System Pavers sign or any "before" pictures. Some of the Field Supervisor's changes to the original job order were acceptable (e.g., "someone crossed out I Pattern and wrote in random"). His "highly recommended" change from regular sand to Polly [sic] sand was a "Change Order Form" that added $470.00. I sent the Field Supervisor an email with the Angie's List 10% off coupon attached. The "Field Supervisor" arrived on the third day of the installation. I expressed my concern that the pavers were butted up against the siding rather than the concrete foundation. He assured me that sand will fill the gap and that the patio would be solid. When asked if he'd received my email with the Angie's List coupon, he said "they" didn't give him a Blackberry, so he doesn't check email. The "Field Supervisor" arrived on the fourth day to get me to sign the "Certificate of Completion" to allow final payment. I repeated my concern about the pavers being butted up against the siding rather than the concrete foundation. He jumped up and down on the patio saying, "This thing solid. It's not going to move. I promise." I asked about the Angie's List coupon. After saying he, "never heard of Angie's List", he called "the office" and was told that that coupon was not accepted. I added a flag note to the "Certificate of Completion" and signed it. About an hour after the "Field Supervisor" left, we found a loose cap stone. We eventually found five loose cap stones. I called the "Field Supervisor" and he said he would be by tomorrow. The "Field Supervisor" did not call or come by when he said he would. I called the office, got a call back from the office and, soon after, from the the "Field Supervisor". The loose cap stones were glued in place within two days.
Description of Work: This job consisted of removal/disposal of an existing concrete slab and installation of a 310 sq ft (approximate) patio and "sitting wall".

Their work was okay. The guys that did the work were pretty nice. They left some concrete in my yard and it got hardened. I don't think that was very good. They had some issues with cleaning up. I would like them to clean up after themselves a little bit better. They did a good job in general. It looks really nice. They also broke one of my sprinkler heads. I didn't know that it was broken till the irrigation guy came in and told me about it. I didn't check the price with any other companies.

They came in and did the work pretty quickly, but I was disappointed with the detail. We wanted them to match the pavers that we already had and I even told them where they were purchased. They came back a week and a half later and dug everything up?there was mud everywhere and we couldn?t access our garage?but they realized their pavers didn?t match. They came back with pavers and started doing the job, but the work wasn?t great. There is a steep slope in our back patio which makes it basically unusable. After the job was done they had me sign a paper but I realized a week later that they laid some of the pavers sideways. I asked them to come back out to fix those two patches but they never responded. Now it is about a year later and we told them that we needed them to come back out to reattach our drainage pipes, but they just never came. They made a lot of promises about matching and making it look seamless but it just doesn?t look right. I would never use them again.

Wonderful experienced!!! System Pavers sent out one of their crews and the one that working on our yard was "The Mario Brothers" . We are really impressed of how hard they work through the rain/snow and always being very pleasant. During the working process, we not need to worry because System Pavers always there to fulfill our needs. They had no problem if we made little changes during the process. All the staffs were being very helpful. We never have luck of hiring contractors until we work with the System Pavers. Again, thank you System Pavers for transformed our yard into a beautiful useful space.

The final sealing was weather dependent, so took place about a week later. The crew that did the work were excellent - really fast and really hard workers, and the guys that did the clean-up were fabulous. Supervisor on my job was Ryan, and he did the follow-up and final adjustments and sealing. Overall I'm very happy with the work, and when I get around to replacing my driveway I'll probably be calling them again. The yard, which is now about 80% paving stones, looks fantastic.
Description of Work: Installed stone patio, about 25' x 25' or so, including merging it with some existing paving stone work, edging a flower bed, covering an existing concrete (very ugly) porch and building up a back step. They also power washed and sealed my existing paved area that had some awful problems with weeds coming up.

Quality of work was excellent and new driveway is much better (and easier to maintain) than old concrete driveway. Although paver driveway is expensive, it is worth it considering other options.
Description of Work: Company tore out an existing concrete driveway that was at an awkward pitch and caused frequent bottoming out and put in new expanded paver-based driveway in its place, with reduced pitch and new configuration. Company also followed up with some drainage work at an additional (albeit small) fee which included removing and replacing part of the paver driveway
