System Pavers

INITIAL CONTACT The company was quick to respond to our inquiry and set up time for a consultation. What we thought was a consult to receive a bid became a high pressure sales pitch. And our down payment to secure the quote for the job was actually a binding contract for the FULL scope of the project with significant penalties for cancelling (read the contract fine print!). A cancellation window of three days to release liability for the FULL AMOUNT OF THE PROJECT was a big surprise as we read through all the paperwork the days following. We have learned a hard lesson not to sign anything after 9pm, we were both so tired and hungry at that late hour we did not thoroughly read through all the paperwork. Our mistake. We obviously ended up moving forward with the project and got more comfortable after reading through reviews of the quality of the work and the experience customers had once they got past the “sales” call. Most were very positive. We also found that no other company offered the length of warranty that System Pavers does and with the large and challenging area, sloped terrain with drainage challenges and more than 5K sq ft, we felt comfortable that this was the right company to do the work. CONCEPTUAL DESIGN AND RENDERING Overall, the software was helpful in deciding the layout and the borders of the pavers. But we still had a hard time selecting the type of stone with the generic 3D rendering. We had to trust our instincts with the pictures in the catalogues provided to decide what to order. Once we decided on the Mega Lafite and Mega Arbel stones from Belgard, Jeff worked very hard with the vendor to get the color we wanted (as the Victorian shade had been discontinued) at the price we needed to fit our budget. We certainly appreciated this extra effort with the vendor. QUALITY OF WORK We read many reviews relative to the installation and quality of work. There was one team, led by Moises Ponce, that had received nothing but positive reviews. We were grateful that Jeff and the management team at System Pavers reworked the summer schedule so that Moises and his crew were able to take on our project. His team did outstanding work, they were always professional, and cleaned up after themselves. The installation of the pavers and the edging was seamless and the final product has more than met our expectations, it is really beautiful. We get many compliments on our new driveway and front yard and know that we enhanced the value of our home substantially. The team had to address some drainage challenges in front of our house and shop and the choice of permeable pavers so far seems to be functioning well through the first set of rainfall and falling leaves. The only challenges we had with the installation process involved two areas. The first had to do with communication between the Designer, the Project Manager and the Installation crew doing the work. There were times they were not on the same page and luckily one of us was home when most of the work was completed and could monitor the install. The second had to do with the landscaping/grass once the stones were completed. We had to move a portion of our in-ground sprinkler system prior to the new sod being installed. The day the ground was prepped for the sod, several of the sprinkler heads were completely buried and one was even on its side, covered with mulch. Had we not been on site and pointed this out, there could have been significant rework to correct after the sod had been installed. OVERALL We are very satisfied with the work and the end result. The cost for the work may be more than the value added to our home but there were other factors/benefits we considered in the choice of stone we selected and the overall design that increased the price beyond our original budget. It has transformed our front entrance and our front yard into our own private retreat and we no longer have to deal with the dust tracked into our home from our previous gravel driveway.

The paver project we had done was relatively small by most standards but involved complications with access and the covering of a previous owners home made pond. The whole job was done in 2 days and I now do not look at that pond anymore. It was an eyesore that created an unusable space. I now can't wait to use the area as the pavers fit into our landscaping beautifully. I could not be happier. It is a wonderful little patio in the trees.

Work was done on time & with a top notch crew. Progress billing didn't go a smoothly as I would have expected with just about all 3 progress billings happening right on top of each other.

They did a fantastic job. The people are friendly and professional and their work was immaculate. They communicated very clearly through each step and delivered the project on budget and WAY ahead of schedule!! I would HIGHLY recommend System pavers for any installation.

The result of the project exceeded my expectations. Every employee of System Pavers was knowledgeable and very helpful. In addition, I can't say enough about the excellent work done by their subcontractor. Needless to say, I am very pleased.

I had System Pavers install a paver patio with a gas fireplace in my backyard. They added a sufficient foundation material under part of the paver patio to accommodate the weight of a hot tub. The work was completed on time & all of the workers were very friendly & courteous. The final product is beautiful & far exceeded my expectations. Visitors to my home are amazed when they see this paver patio & always comment on how it pulls together my backyard. I highly recommend System Pavers!

I have a big driveway 4200 ft.² It was a big job and System Pavers did excellent work. System pavers helped us design the project. The project manager did an excellent job supervising a crew of 6 to 9 and completed the job in half the time.

From my first meeting with Scott Hartman the designer he understood what I wanted to complete. He developed a design and scheduled the project. The project coordinator, Michael Cowan, was professional, very knowledgeable and efficient. At the walk through of the project they were very clear about what to expect during the installation. The project started two weeks before the scheduled start date. The team was fast, efficient, and had great quality. My project was completed in a surprising three days. The project was a great experience. Scott and Michael were great to work with; the product delivered was as promised. From start to finish I enjoyed watching the transformation of my front yard and courtyard. I have received many compliments of how nice it is. The 25 year guarantee is a huge plus too. The crew was friendly, courteous and worked hard. I can't speak highly enough about or recommend strongly enough - the team at System Pavers and the professionalism they brought to my project,

My home had two pathways on the north and south sides of our house that we had put in ourselves. The north pathway (rock & cement) was very uneven and moss had made it slick over time. The south pathway was a gravel path with circular cement steppingstones where the stones had shifted position over time. There was also a cement slab off the driveway leading to the gravel path. Both the north and south pathways were uneven to walk on or move anything across its surface. After 29 years, it was time to replace both pathways. I happened to encounter System Pavers at the Portland Outdoor Living Show and contacted them. Design consultant, Lidiana, kept her appointment promptly, she was friendly, and provided good selection choices, lots of examples, and brochures on how I could redesign the pathways. I liked the fact that System Pavers seemed very professional, reliable, and willing to guarantee their work and paving projects. Therefore, I proceeded with signing up for the pathways to be replaced by System Pavers. It was about a week or so later that the project manager, Matt, came out to assess and verify the plans and measurements initially done by Lidiana. I encountered delays in scheduling (a week later from what was originally scheduled) so I had to reschedule all my appointments in order to clear my schedule so I could be available for the crew while the construction was in progress. I wanted to be on-site at home in case there were any questions. The materials for the job were delivered on a Wednesday to my driveway, several days in advance of the work starting, and I was concerned about the materials (i.e. theft concern) since the crew didn’t start until the following Monday. Once the entire project was completed, there were about 2-1/2 pallets of materials leftover that the crew advised were going to the “dump” and I was asked if I wanted any of the leftover material. For this reason, I question why too much material was ordered considering both the design consultant and project manager took measurements of the existing pathways before ordering the materials for the pathways project. I was NOT credited for the excess materials. Which is why I am giving a rating of 4 not 5 stars. The 3-man System Pavers crew started on a Monday and took a week to complete both pathways by the end of the week on Friday. The crew’s start times varied at the start of the week but by mid-week they started about 8am. The crew worked very hard and even worked in the pouring rain on one of the days. From lifting and removing the old steppingstones & gravel, using a jack hammer to remove the old concrete and rock path, removing the dirt & gravel, etc.; the crew did a great job of tearing up and removing the old paths. Then the 3-man crew worked tirelessly to install the layers (gravel, cement, mesh, bricks, polymer sand, etc.) to build both north and south pathways. The crew tried their best to clean up the rocks, dirt, and debris on my driveway as best as they could. Herman even did a great job in moving two of the sprinkler heads so they would be out of the pathway to make for a more aesthetic appearance. I appreciate the crew answering my questions (i.e. Rodger) and being very accommodating to my requests while the work was in progress. Project Manager, Matt L. was very professional. He ensured that the crew did not disrupt or cut any underground cables nor damage sprinklers in place. It gave me peace of mind knowing he was on top of that. He responded to my “text” questions promptly every step of the project. I’m ecstatic about the look of the new pathways… they both look fantastic!! The new pathways really improve the look of the yard. What a relief too, to finally be able to walk on an “even” path. I’m so glad I had System Pavers replace the pathways. Overall, I’m very pleased with the new pathways and the quality of their work. I would recommend System Pavers for their paving work.

We selected System Pavers to do a large project in the back of our yard overlooking our view of the city. We bid 4 contractors and liked System Pavers product quality, ability to 'show' us their finished work, and their professionalism all the way from sales, site supervisor and crew. They we're always on-time, accurate, we're proactive with their communications and follow up on vms/calls etc and finished the job early. I would definitely recommend using System Pavers and will be using them again shortly based on my experience. They hit all facets of the job out of the park. Excellent customer service and quality!!

The team was fast, efficient, and had great quality. Our project was completed in two days which was surprising to us how quickly they completed the job. The after sale service is good and we are really excited about the significant warranty. Everyone we dealt with were fantastic.

I highly recommend System Pavers. Everything, from start to finish, was excellent. The salesman, Brian, who originally gave me the quote, even came out on a weekend to do some prep work to get an old tree stump out of the way so my retaining wall could be built. His work saved me from having to rent a chainsaw and do it myself! The crew was able to fit my job in early and worked on a Saturday(!!) so that the wall was built in only two days. And it looks amazing! Communication leading up to and throughout the project couldn't have been easier. Thank you so much, I am so happy with the results!

The design team and the installation crew were great at communicating with us and they listened to our wants/needs and made adjustments when asked. The did a great job of keeping us informed about the progress of the project daily through a messaging thread.

We needed a retaining wall and pavers put down. System Pavers was a great company to work with. From the design to meeting with the contractor and his team. I was excited to get started. The work went by so fast and we really didn't even seem bothered by them being around. My neighbors didn't have a problem with them either. They were respectful and did a fantastic job. We are thrilled with the work that we received.

I was impressed by the quality of the product and Jeff Garcia's promoting of the System Pavers. Mike Cowan oversaw the installation and worked to correct a problem with one of the pieces of turf. The replacement was installed this morning and my yard looks beautiful!

We had a soggy mess in our backyard. Worked with Walker came up with a plan- he gave some good suggestions and advice on design. We are happy with the results and look forward to the final step of sealing the pavers.

This project was amazing. JP designed an excellent patio with step and Michael and his team brought it to life. I am very impressed with their responsiveness and attention to detail. I look forward to entertaining on this new patio for years to come.

System pavers were amazing to work with. I received a call within 10 minutes of sending in a consultation request. And then during the consultation they were very thorough and explained how everything worked during installation. I would definitely use them again for future projects.

There were two crews out for the job and finished the job within about 3 days. They stayed late a few nights to get as much as they could done. They traveled about an hour to my location to do the job which was nice. Everyone was friendly and I had left water out for the crew and they made sure to put all the containers in the recycling bin which I appreciated. I was under the impression that they were going to do a floating fire pit but I might have misunderstood what that meant. So I may have gotten one but they had cut the area out for the fire pit. I liked that we were left with some extra pavers in case anything happens and need to be fixed later down the road. They also saved all the salvageable soil that was dug up for me to use in my raised garden beds and all the existing pavers prior. I liked being able to have that option. I would have liked to have a contingency plan attached to the financing options with the ability to adjust the loan with out having another hard pull for the sake of my credit score and the added stress that was caused for the unknown that was mentioned. Overall my experience was great and I really enjoyed not having a flooded garage after the flooding that happened in April here in Oregon. It has made our backyard look more put together as well as larger from the perception they did with outlining the patio in a different shade of paver. The patio looks great, my dogs really enjoy it as well. Thanks again!
