The salesman. His name was Scott came and drew up the diagram. And gave us a price. He told us he would stop by and view the progress as it was being done. That was the last time we saw him. . The crew showed up and worked very hard and did a good job. However when they left they did not clean up after themselves. My husband spent weeks picking up the cigarette butts & garbage they threw everywhere. For the size of the slab they did and the price we paid we felt like they dropped the ball. Especially since they never came back except for the check.

They had to excavate, put down a base of rock and sand, compact it very carefully and put down pavers. It's held up very well.

The actual crew and project manager did an overall nice job and were very professional. But the designer miscalculated and miscommunicated the bench design which created a problem which I then had to work out with the project manager. The project was also promised to be completed in an overly aggressive timeline by the designer, and so completing it was very, very tight.

They were not the most responsive, and they have a high mark up from their sub contractors. The sales person said he would stay in touch with us, and we have not seen him since the job started. They assigned a project manager who was there the first day, and we haven't seen him since, so they were not the best to work with.

I loved working with System Pavers. They were professional, prompt and courteous. I always felt that we were given top priority and that they always followed through on requests and questions. I feel that the quality of the work is top notch and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a company that may not be the cheapest but has high standards in terms of quality.

I had Systems Pavers come out to give me a bid. Mike spent quite a bit of time with me and then took the time to measure then I never heard from them again. I even called and email but no response. I don't understand why they would waste their time and mine.

The people they had were not wearing masks and there was a lot of dust. We did not understand that they would have to use our garage for a power source. We did not want to leave that unlocked and they did get in to that without us unlocking it. We were able to make a repair to that. They did not finish off the driveway the way the picture showed us. They showed us that they would put in bricks at the end of the street to transition the driveway to the street. I called and they did not want to do that and I had a neighbor that asked about the company and she called for an estimate and told them that she would not use them if they did not fix our driveway and they did end up coming back out after that to install the brick. They put a cap layer of brick pavers on the top of the retaining wall and they are coming up now some of that is not their fault as neighbors have hit those. I feel they should have used a different application as the wall is not safe and we have had to tell our neighbors about that as kids do like to stand on that as well. It would have been good in an area where the neighborhood does not have access to it.
Description of Work: They took out the concrete and they put in pavers and re-graded the driveway. The driveway drains away from the house now and it did not do that before. They put in some drainage as well right before the garage and that drains in to a pipe that they put in as well. They built a landing for us and it is a little bit lower and wider than the previous one that we had. They widened the driveway in a few areas as well and the porch and the driveway all match now. The landing they did was made out of pavers. They put in a low retaining wall as well.

The Salesman told me multiple things that simply weren't true. Such as, he told me driveway pavers "absolutely" can't go all the way to the street, they can just go to the apron, per code. He later gave me several drive-by addresses to look at, for projects they had done, and it turned out that two of addresses had pavers that went all the way to the street. I asked about this, and was told they didn't take out the required county permit to do those 2 projects. Meaning they are willing to do projects that aren't legal, by their own words. We were given 9 addresses to drive by. Two I mentioned above. Two others didn't have pavers on the driveway at all, even though that was what we specifically requested to see. On a fifth address, it was up a long, private driveway, so we didn't get to see it at all. I asked to talk with a Manager, who instead of calling me, sent me a short, useless email where he tried to defend the company. Interesting, that in that email, he stated permits are required for all aprons, but provided no explanation for why they've done at least two projects without the required permits. I responded to his email, where I outlined all of the issues I was concerned about. That was on 1-1-2014. I haven't have the courtesy of a reply. While mistakes of course happen, I personally find it unacceptable that a company would do non-permited work, when a permit is required per their own statements. That to me is an indication of the rest of their business practices. So, I guess it's buyer beware. If you use this company, you'll have no one to blame but yourself, because I've warned you here. I have no doubt the company may respond to this review, and try to say they've done nothing wrong. Fortunately, I still have all the documentation and email, and will be glad to share it with you. Update on 1-9-2014, after the Business put in their 1-8-2014 response. And there you have it, in their own words. While saying they follow code, they've admitted they completed at least two projects, where the proper permit was NOT taken out. Whether it's their fault, or their client's fault, makes no difference. The business started, and completed the projects, without the proper permits in place. Case Closed! Update on 1-22-2014. Business put in their 1-8-2014 update, saying they would have the Portland Manager contact me. I've not heard one word from that business. Update on 2-25-2014. Kyle Cooper, who said he was the Sales Manager, finally called me. We talked about my above review in detail. Nothing really changed though. He did say that paving aprons is a gray area, sometimes allowed and sometimes not allowed, at which point I told him, "Then why didn't the sales person simply say that, instead of stating in absolute terms that it was never allowed, even though System Pavers has actually paved aprons. As I said, nothing really changed, I still won't ever use them in the future because of the bad taste from this experience, but at least the Manager did finally call me. Why it was almost 3 months after my 1-1-2014 email, (referenced above), or almost 3 months after their 1-8-2014 Angie's List update when they said someone would call me, (referenced above), is not clear to me. You make your own conclusions.
Description of Work: Buyer beware! If you use this company, you'll have no one to blame but yourself, because I've warned you here. Provider told me multiple things that weren't true, and sent me on wild-goose chases to view useless example projects. I asked to talk with a Manager, who sent me a short, useless email, and who hasn't got back to me since, even though I replied.

Hi Sir, I do apologize, there seems to have been a miscommunication: we do in fact follow code regulations and can either 1. Provide you with a Right-of-Way permit OR 2. We can provide you with the steps to apply for a permit on your own. We would be happy to do this for you but some of our clients (like the two homes whom we did not provide permits for) prefer to do this on their own. Your review has been forwarded to Portland Branch Management to ensure that you are contacted to address any further questions or concerns you may have. Thank you for considering System Pavers for your driveway solution. Sincerely, System Pavers

We had steps replaced and a walkway put in to a new small patio area. The area of the small patio was a drainage problem. Additionally, we had another small patio put in. The patios were round. There's a recommended pattern layout shown with the materials. It was not used. When another section of patio which was rectangular was laid out, it was done in a pattern other than the one designed. I explained to the crew that they were putting it in wrong. I had to call the "supervisor", who was also supervising a job in Vancouver, to tell him that the pavers had been put in wrong. He came out the next day, and they redid it. There were other details that were not observed. We'd been shown a photo of pavers that had been worked in under an existing rock wall. We had such a wall. I had a conversation about this with the installers. They said it was too hard to do it that way. The detail sold was not executed. We'd been assured by the estimator that the crews were very professional, but there seemed to be a big breakdown in communication between the designer/salesman, the supervisor, and the crew on the details. There was also a curved corner that the designer put in that was executed poorly. After three tries we let stand the last execution. And we had a design for three steps. We got two steps. The drainage problem was addressed well. The crew was on time at or before 8 am every morning. They worked very hard, but the fact that they were left to solve some of problems and make design decisions on the fly seemed odd to me. And they didn't always follow the original design. If I hadn't been around to discuss approaches with them, it might not have gone as good as it did. In the end the work looks very good, but some of the details were not done well. There's a warranty on the work, but I'm not positive that it is worth cost.
Description of Work: An estimate. A plan of the paver layout. Coordination of the material delivery. Occasional supervision. The work was done by a sub-contractor.

We were disappointed and frustrated. The problem we had was when the sales person came out he said he would do a design and simply drew an unprofessional circle scratched on a piece of paper. We went with them because of the examples of their previous work. Also, the sales person did not really have any follow through on what he had sold us and lacked professionalism. All communication was initiated on our end and then they did reply. Also, we were told the job would take 3 days and it took 5 days and when they finished they weren’t actually finished. They also broke the sprinkler head, which they later fixed once we made them aware of it. The finished product is beautiful it was just a difficult journey to get there.

System Pavers' design consultant was able to give me the best design recommendations than any of the other vendors I looked at. Pricing was good considering the materials and installation warranties that came with their service. They worked very quickly and ensured that I was satisfied with the workmanship. Their was a small problem that we encountered with one little part of the patio. Our service rep promptly had their guys come out and correct the issue to my satisfaction. I am extremely pleased with the professionalism and quality of work that System Pavers was able to provide. I highly recommend their services to any one looking to get pavers installed.

Their service was excellent and the installers were really good as well. There was a point at which the installers weren’t doing exactly what the project manager had indicated what they were going to do but they corrected the issue. A suggestion would be to ensure the installers and project managers are on the same page for other services and for other customers. We’ve received compliments and we would recommend their services to others.
Description of Work: They built a retaining wall in our front yard out of their specialty stone and they also widened our driveway by adding stone to both sides of it. They also added a stone walkway that is stepping stones from the front of our house to the back. They did also give a bonus free fire pit for our backyard.

Our disappointment is a lack of communication between the salesman, project manager and third-party workers . Specifically, the estimate needed to be modified because the measurements were inaccurate. When the program manager came out he noticed the estimate wasn’t right. The program manager remeasured and got the accurate info so the outsource workers could come out. Labor is provided through a third party. When the first workers came out we needed to explain to them because they had the initial incorrect estimate. A couple days later a separate group of outsourced workers came in and had the old measurements. The program manager did not take responsibility and placed the blame on the 3rd party workers. Also, I was a bit disappointed with the product result. They also did not clean up after themselves very well. It didn’t look shiny and the program manager explained that he didn’t use the shiny material because the material he uses is more durable and reliable. There was also one main crack and a worker came out and fixed that. A couple weeks later there were a couple other issues that came up and it took them a while to get back with me. Currently, there are areas where they sand is continually falling way and I am most likely going to be calling him again to come out to add more sand.
Description of Work: I had taken out the lawn in the front yard, sides and back. There is a quite a slope in the backyard. We saw the product in their showroom. The entrance to our house is through a gate and then you go through to the backyard. They created a walkway that goes to the back Jacuzzi and a walkway to the deck.

Installers ran into trouble with the concrete under original flagstone/stamped concrete (they couldn't remove it because it was too thick). Due to being unable to remove the old concrete, they had to switch to a much thinner, 7/8" paver (instead of 2"-3" pavers).

They did exactly what they said they were going to do. I couldn’t recommend them more highly. They started and finished the work on the days they said they would. The job took 3-5 installers 4 working days and they worked very very hard considering the terrain they were working on.
Description of Work: They built a patio a step lower than our back deck. They also built stone steps from the deck to the patio. We do a lot of gardening and my grandson works for us during the summers and the contractor built a stone pathway up that 3 pavers-wide up a steep hill that goes goes above the patio area to where we garden. This helps him with his gardening and we’ve named it Cannon’s Highway in honor of our grandson.
