It was kind of a mixed bag but it was no fault of his. I had called him to repair or fix a job that someone else had not done well and I had been unable to get a hold of that person so I just decided to bite the bullet because I wanted to have it fixed. So I started all over again and I found that the deal on Angie’s List was a pretty good deal. All I was going to do is pay a couple of hundred dollars and pay for the parts if any. Larry came on time on the day that he said he would come and informed me that he would feel uncomfortable doing the work because he would have to charge me more than the big deal and thought that I should be able to get it from the guy that did it originally. So he gave me some advice on how to do that and I ended up paying for the service but the advice was very useful. So I guess, even though I didn’t get the job done, I was pleased with how he dealt with the situation. I have a carport and it is built underneath what used to be an old deck, it is not a room addition and when they finished the job, they put drywall under the ceiling of the carport. Over the years, the drywall absorbed moisture from the air and had mold growing across it. I wanted the drywall removed, the insulation checked, check if it was wet and then I wanted new siding put up in its place. The guy that I hired to do that said he could do it and told me how much it would cost and did it. Well, he didn’t anchor the siding in fifteen-inch centers, he did it in thirty-two inch centers, so it sags and every sixteen inches there is a buckle in the ceiling. He also didn’t line up one of the panels so the liner looks funky plus it doesn’t butt up against the wall, so there is a hole where the moisture can still get up inside the insulation. Larry Hudson came out to fix that job, told me that he thought it might be really easy and it might be really inexpensive but the only way that he could figure it out would be to pull the siding out to look inside. However, once he did that and it broke, then he would have to go buy new parts and if it wasn’t fixable very easily, then he would have to reconsider the whole construction of the roof and it might end up costing twice as much as it cost originally. That is the advice that he gave and that is why he didn’t do the job, until I at least went back and tried to get the original worker to fix this for me on his dime. It is a very complicated situation but the point is that Larry Hudson was extremely professional and explained to me all those things. He told me that he could do the work and would do the work if I really wanted him to but he thought that I could save myself a whole lot of money by having the first guy come back and fix it. He also told me how to use the contractor’s board to help me get him to do it and he gave me all the directions for how I can go about doing that. So Larry was actually being an advocate for me, he cost himself some work and gave me his card just in case if this doesn’t work out and I need somebody to do the work, I can call him back which I will do. So he didn’t do any work for me but he also possibly saved me a whole lot of money. I paid $200 for the deal for four hours of work but I didn’t get the four hours of work and I don’t have the $200 anymore and nothing got done, so I don’t know what to think about the pricing. I don’t want anyone to think that Larry Hudson is in some way incomparable or irresponsible or not trustworthy or any of those kinds of things because I don’t want people to get a bad impression of him. I am very pleased with him and he is a good guy.

Larry was great I am having him come back to put in 2 windows for me in Janunary

He did a great job. He did exactly what I needed done. He's professional. Setting the appointment up for him to come out went well. We were very pleased.

We were very pleased with Larry's quality of work, his responsiveness, and professionalism. We called him after we noticed some water damage and subsequent mold on our garage wall due to a leaking hot water tank. He came over within the next day to our home to take a look and gave us an extremely reasonable estimate. He was very flexible and accommodating to our schedule since we had to coordinate his services with the hot water tank company. When he arrived, he got right to work and patiently answered any questions I had. When he was finished, the wall looked seamless, like there was never any damage at all. He blended the new drywall and existing drywall so well that we didn't even have to repaint it. If we ever have any projects in the future, we will definitely call Larry again.

The project was difficult because of the height of the windows. Luckily we own scaffolding and Larry helped us set it up and then was able to use it to accomplish the repairs. It took multiple trips, not Larry's fault, due to weather and our schedule. Larry was communicative and responsive when offering dates to complete the work. We ended up needing materials that we did not have on site and Larry was willing to pick them up for us to make sure we had the right materials.

Nothing bad to write. He did a wonderful job and I would not hesitate to use his service again! Price was good and the work was excellent. Thank you!

He arrived on time and did more than I thought he could in the time frame

He told my daughter over the phone he could do the work. When he got there, he said he didn’t have scaffolding and didn’t do it. We had to get a refund. We had already even bought the paint.

Big deal was for 8 hours. Larry was fast and efficient with his time and cleaned up every thing as well. We thanked him and sent him on his way as he was finished in less then 4 hours! I really wanted to try this on as we had had bad experiences in the past with others. I should have planned more work but we were pleased that Larry was actually capable and responsible after the last contractor!

Larry showed up on the day and time that we set up. He assessed my long list of items, asked good questions, and then got to work. He did everything that I asked very quickly. I really liked how he found a cheaper solution to the light fixture issue by just repainting it rather than replacing it saving me money. I also liked how he figured out what would take the longest and did those items first so that he could multi-task. He got everything done in about half the time that I thought, and I paid a lot less than I thought. I already have my next list started for him. I'm very pleased and won't hesitate to work with him again.

The shed extension went up in time w/the materials we provided. He could have consulted a bit more on what he needed. The structure is not as sturdy as we may have liked, in fact it was detached and almost collapsed when my son was doing the roofing.

I purchased a big deal for painting. I was pleased with the work. Tom was efficient and completed all the paint projects I wanted done. I will hire him again.

I bought a $199 Angie's List Big Deal for 8 hours of professional painting. Ben and Tom spent half a day working to transform my bedroom from a dull, Apartment Beige to a glowing, soft Buttercup Yellow. Ben and Tom were very careful as they painted above and around the 2 large pieces of furniture that I was unable to move out of the room. When I selected the new color, I didn't realize that yellow is one of the toughest colors to transition to, in terms of needing additional coats of paint for satisfactory coverage. They let me know when it became evident (sooner rather than later) that completing the job would require significantly longer than 4 hours (and another gallon of paint). They quoted me $350 to finish the job. They were very flexible working within my schedule; we booked the follow-up appointment for 4 days later. It took them a full day to complete the painting, at their quoted price. I think that they tried to do a very good job, and I'm happy with the results. I would recommend and use Larry Hudson Contracting again.

Larry Hudson Contracting turned out good. I might be calling him back out again for some more painting. The painting looks good. There is a little space where I think I need to touch-up, but I think it's just where they didn't see, between the window and the counter. It's just a little spot. It's nothing bad. I wouldn't say that they did a bad job. They called me about one week after I purchased the Big Deal. They were pretty timely. They got lost during rush hour traffic. They didn't realize that my house was way further than they thought. I couldn't blame them for that and they did call.

This installation was provided at our Rental House in SE Portland. Everything went very smoothly. Larry was very friendly and accommodating to our wishes. We were very pleased with the short time frame of completing this work. Both bathrooms look great! We received excellent service at an affordable price. We will certainly be using Larry Hudson Contracting in the future whenever needed.

We had a family project laying a floating floor in our bathroom, it was a disaster. Larry was contacted and he took care of the problem and laid linoleum and it looks fantastic.. He was very detailed orientated and we are very happy with the results .Larry also put molding around the master bathroom and it looks great. I am very pleased with his work and will absolutely call him again. Thank you Larry !!!!!

I had a 60's tile floor in my basement that made the room cold and dated. I wanted to install something warm and Larry suggested a discount flooring company that turned out to fit my budget and provided a great product. He installed it quickly and it looks great, no seems even show!! There were some areas that were challenging where I had a old wood stove and the floor was uneven. He was able to go over it beautifully, you would never know. I also have radiant heat in my floor and wanted to make sure the product wouldn't keep the heat from coming through, no problem there either. I am very happy with his work and would recommend him.

He was very fair with pricing, very thorough and complete. We really liked him. He could have had a little better with his communication.

Larry Hudson is the best contractor I've found in the Portland area. He is the best by a long shot. He listens to the client, then does all the work. Some handymen need supervision and feedback. Larry figures it out, then makes it happen. I work full time, part of it out of my house. My work was never interrupted even though Larry was sometimes working inside the house. Larry built a railing that now brings an outdoor staircase up to code. He regrouted broken, wobbly tiles on my outdoor living area, and sealed the whole thing with two coats. He fixed caulking another contractor botched. I didn't even ASK Larry to do this: he just noticed it an fixed it! (The guy who botched it was more expensive, by the way!) Larry selected interior trim paints that blend perfectly with the pre-existing. He's honest about what he can and can't do, though I didn't discover very much he couldn't do. He de-mossed my roof. He tore out rot and replaced wood on an outdoor shed. Larry is a fantastic contractor who shows up on time, is totally straightforward about price, and his hourly rate is cheaper than several I've encountered who are less knowledgeable than him. You can't go wrong with Larry! He's fantastic!

The most challenging piece of the project was major beaming in the master bedroom and kitchen area which required review by a licensed engineer. Larry exhibited that he knew what needed to be done with the beaming even before review and 100% supported getting engineering approval to be structurally sound and secure. The beams are an amazing addition to the interior of my home and I am thrilled he took on this challenge and not only make it beautiful but safe. He had to navigate some challenges with the roof line in my bedroom and was able to make suggestions to the architect that made the space even more aesthetically appealing. When Larry was not satisfied with the results of a sub, he had them come back until their performance was to his satisfaction and mine. An example of this was the hardwood floors that Larry insisted needed three final finish coats to protect them, a procedure that was once standard. Larry has build my dream home for me! I had no idea that what I wanted to do would provide me with such satisfaction and calm. It is three months from completion of the project and I continue to be 100% satisfied with his work. I HIGHLY recommend him. There isn't anything Larry can't figure out how to accomplish!.

Larry from Larry Hudson Contracting went to their house first, assessed things and gave an estimate. He showed up the next day and started on the project. He was really great with my boyfriend’s parents. He did a fabulous job. He was punctual. He did exactly what they wanted him to do. He built a really sturdy hand rail for them. He brought the materials with him and was in and out in no time. He was quick, efficient and kind. He is a ten on a scale of one to ten. We were very pleased with him. We would certainly use his services again in the future.

All work was done in a timely manner. He always arrived promply and worked through the project to completion. I never felt I was a low priority. He is very aware that you should leave space in the condition you find it or better. All this is done with a smile on his face and integrity. I would hire Larry again, I felt his pricing was fair and his work exceptional.
