Larry Hudson Contracting

Contracted for 3 hours labor; customer to provide materials. Arrived ahead of scheduled start time and worked late to accomplish task. We ran into a few minor electrical glitches (not of his making) and he adapted well to them. He checked his installation work before leaving but did not set up light functionality utilities (time limit factor). Good communication and very personable and pleasant. All lights functioned after his installation. Above Ratings: B rating is what I expect to receive from professionals; A rating is superior service. I would definitely hire again. Thx Larry!

He sent me a reply and said Sandy is out of his service area, so I requested a refund. I suggest listing areas within the county he does not service since my home is within the county he states he services. He was very prompt to reply to my purchase.

Great communication up-front. Larry arrived promptly, investigated and discussed several possible solutions for the placement of the new light fixture. He was able to figure out a way to get new fixture installed without extending wiring (which would've required electrician). He patched ceiling drywall from previous light fixture location, and textured it to match surrounding ceiling. The finished work looks great. There were no unanticipated charges. I will likely hire Larry Hudson Contracting again in the near future.

Highly skilled, very cordial, polite, precise, does whatever I asked. He finished the jobs before I could create more and was happy to do everything. Very creative and helpful with suggestions.

This contractor did all the work that I asked. While onsite the tenant mentioned an issue I knew nothing about. He checked out the problem and discussed it with me before preforming any work. The tenant later expressed her satisfaction with his work and his friendly and professional manner.

Great work professional ethical gave me good advice. Had to go purchase a part. Would not let me pay for it. I will be calling Larry again

Regarding the closet system, he drilled numerous extra holes because he missed the studs in the wall. And he didn't patch the holes as he stated he would. And the rack system pieces he got to install it were not the same kind, so he sort of "jimmy rigged" it. It works, and it's sturdy, but I could have done that for myself. Even I have a stud finder. I had previously asked him if he was good at drywall. Of course, contractors don't normally disclose if they are not good at something. So of course, he said yes. The patch was done with putty and orange peel spray, and again, it looked terrible and I eventually called someone else to come fix it. It's right in the middle of the wall, so it would be very noticeable. I did not address this with the original guy, because if this is his quality of work, honestly, why bother?

Couldn't get tenants out before offer ended, so paid for but didn't use

Went well. It was a big help for me in getting my home ready for holiday guests.

He figured out what would look best to a potential buyer and got it done quickly. He even did a couple things outside the original scope of work. I would absolutely hire him again!

The job went great, Larry was prompt and friendly with the cost coming in a few dollars less than the estimate. I've had him back twice for other minor jobs.

It was fine. We ran into a few problems that he didn’t anticipate but they weren’t his fault. He accommodated me by coming back to fix the wall. He was on time.

Larry's rates are incredibly inexpensive -- even compared to others I've hired who are far less skilled. He's also done wonderful work at my parents' house, building a railing that would allow my parents to climb steps. Anybody would be lucky to hire Larry. I put most of the details in the previous box. I can't say enough great things about Larry!!

I did a "big deal" Larry fixed a bunch of odds and ends for me. I would hire him again.

I had designed a closet and he emailed me before hand that he was going to be able to complete the work but when he started he stated that the could not rap his head around it. I don't think I'll call him again.

Best Handyman in Portland! Larry was great! Would definatly hire again. He knows what he is doing. He works fast. His prices are very reasonable. Really honest hard worker. I have used a few other home repair companies before and ended up paying a lot more for much less work. My only regret is I wish I had found him years ago.

Very Professional. Attention to detail.

Very well. A previous handyman had put an interior door where an exterior door was needed and it was falling apart. Now the door is secure. Also the two other doors work very well and the towel rack is great.

It was with trepidation that I bought a handyman deal because whenever you bring someone new into your house to do work, it's an uncertain situation. And given that my new home was built in 1946, I anticipated the unexpected. Our pre-work conversations via text and Angie's list were terrific--prompt and friendly. Larry showed up on time and was friendly and very easy to talk to. He didn't make me feel silly that I didn't do some of these myself. I was very comfortable around him. The only snag we ran into was replacing the kitchen faucet and that was no fault of his--it was the fixtures under the sink. Since that was the #1 thing I wanted done, I was disappointed but again, it wasn't his fault. And, he finished at what I thought was five hours (that was my service) and yet, instead of just letting that go, Larry contacted me to say I'd bought a five-hour and when could we schedule that last hour? Frankly, I thought I had him five hours but it turned out it was really only four. He could have easily let it go but didn't. That honesty combined with his craftsman, friendliness and ease in working with him means I recommend him wholeheartedly and will definitely use him again.

Larry was a nice, friendly person and I felt comfortable having him in my home. I asked him to replace a kitchen sink for me and to replace the inner workings in a toilet that wasn't filling as quickly as it should. He didn't seem super comfortable with the sink project, but he figured it out and got it done. I should have had him leave the black silicone I bought for him cos I noticed a few spots that will need to be fixed after he left. The offer I purchased was for a day of general contractor work. I got 5.5 hours of work (9 - 2:30). I had expected to get 8 hours, and that is why I bought the Angies list deal...cos I figured $37.50/hr was a really good deal. I guess I should have found out how many hours were in "a day" so that I would not have been surprised. I did have some other projects on my list, but after 5.5 hours he said he needed to get somewhere and left. I did pick his brain about how I could repair a small hole in my drywall and how I could repair a window sill and back splash before he left. I am really happy to have my new sink installed and to have the toilet working well again though.

Fantastic. Mr. Hudson did wonderful work will have him back to do more work. Also gave me some painting tips. He even cut way old wall paper, filled and sanded the area and then painted so I would not have to move the new lights when I finish painting the room.
