"They charged me $120 dollar just to come out and they quoted me $1600 to replace the water heater. I asked the plumber who came on how long would it take for him to do the work, he told me 3 to 4 hours, he said the pricing would be $1600. Well he doesn't set up pricing and ask me what cost would it be comfortable for me, I said you can leave right now because this is not something that I should be negotiating with you in this manner. It's inappropriate. At that point I terminated the conversation and ask him to leave. I specifically stated that I didn't want to if they quoted me above the national average as quoted by Angie's list for this type of work. I said I'm not interested in doing business because I'm aware what the national average is."

I figured if it didn't work, my machine is old and I would be out $40, not the $100+ to have a tech come out and just diagnose the problem. He predicted what was wrong after listening to the machine, calmly walked me through dismantling the machine and when we got down to the motor, he was right!
