He did an excellent job. He is a very nice and thorough. I am going to have him install a new roof when the weather gets better. He was very good about answering all over my questions, and also went out of his way to help me. He went through an awful lot of trouble to explain what he would do to build a new deck for me.

I needed the gutters to be cleaned out on my two story farmhouse. They had not been cleaned in years, and with a steep roof pitch, I did not want to attempt this task by myself. JC came out very soon after I called him for an estimate, and told me when he would be available to do the work. He noticed some of the nails which attach the gutters to the house were starting to loosen, and fixed that as well. He is courteous, very knowledgeable about home improvement and repairs, and true to his estimate. I would definitely hire him again.

JC gave prompt written estimate. Explained what he would do. He arrived when he said he would and fitted my job in with other commitments working long and late some days. Friendly and good natured plus he liked my dog.

My husband contacted JC to see if he was available to replace a rotted board beneath our kitchen window. He came to see what the project would entail and being busy with other projects at the time, indicated he would be available in the near future. He gave my husband a date when he should be contacted to set an appointment. This was done and he came on 09/28/2011 as scheduled and on time. JC replaced the rotted board underneath the aforementioned window and explained the rotting process and made suggestions as to what to do and when with what might be a larger problem in the future. As well as replacing that board, he sealed another along the dinning room window which we hadn't noticed previously. We feel more secure now and will ask him to come again in the springtime for further repairs He is a pleasant person with whom to communicate and he did the work well and efficiently. Unrelated to this project and not mentioned until he was working, I asked him if he might be interested in two fence sections we had. He indicated that he had no use for them himself, but was willing to drop them off at Habitat for Humanity if they consented. They did and to our benefit, he removed them from our property. Al in all, we are very pleased.

Everything went great. No problems.

From beginning to end it all went well.

Overall, the job was excellent. J.C. did an excellent job hanging the drywall and replacing the doors. This included adding some extra insulation in ceiling and one wall before hanging the drywall. The drywall finish work was done by a subcontractor that J.C. has worked with a long time and did a outstanding job including the texturing and left the kitchen ready to paint. The plumbing work was also performed by a subcontractor that once again was excellent. The plumber replaced the old hot and cold water lines in the kitchen for the sink and added and additional hot water line for the dishwasher and ran a new cold water line under the floor to the other side of the kitchen for the refrigerator ice maker/water dispenser. The plumber also added another cold water line that will be under the sink just in case we ever want to add an instant hot water dispenser in the future (a terrific idea and a huge bonus). J.C. did an outstanding job replacing the doors- he removed the old doors and installed the new pre-hung doors. The doors are square and plumb and function properly. He spray foamed around the doors to eliminate drafts and added additional spray foam to fill some of the smaller voids near the doors that would have been difficult to fill with other types of insulation. J.C. also offered some excellent and creative ideas in regards to our kitchen remodel. This included adding a staircase landing between the kitchen and the utility room. J.C. built the landing and put it in so we could test it out and it turned out to be an Awesome Idea! Once again, J.C. did Outstanding work, he hires subcontractors that do outstanding work, and all at a fair and reasonable price (including some small No Charge extras that make a Big Difference)!

I think if folks read prior evaluations, a very good profile of who JC is, comes into focus. I'll sum it up by saying, the impression I had was in the way JC approached every situation as if it were his own house. The decision making from the beginning and the meticulous focus to detail became very apparent. The roofing repairs went quickly, probably because we were dealing with folks that were highly rated on Angie's list. Both with JC and our Roofing contractor, it was like they were the same company. It's so much easier with contractor's work together instead of letting others circle their schedules. The soffit took 4 good days to complete, admirable for 1 person and the work came out terrific. The following steps had me doing the painting and then contacting our sheet metal company to follow with facia wrap and gutters. All of the above work took 3 weeks to completion which included my painting. I don't care for the look of spraying paint so brush an roller for the homeowner took 1 week.

The signs he raised and mounted were extremely heavy and awkward to move. He did an incredible job! I feel like for what I spent and what he gave me- it was a really good deal. He was on time and when he left my store it was as clean as when he came. I would absolutely hire him again.

He was very generous with his time and didn't charge anything. He was very polite and was right on time. We would definitely call him back. H was very punctual. We plan to call him when we do the work.

I am updating a newly purchased home that needs lots of TLC and though I plan to do much of the work myself in order to keep the cost down, there are a few jobs that I will hire out. I plan to hire JC throughout the project for various things based on his knowledge and bid. For the consulting piece, JC spent about an hour with me talking through my plans and giving me tips on how to best accomplish my goals. The information he gave likely saved me hundreds of dollars and hours of frustration! When I asked him how much I owed for the consultation, he said I did not owe him anything trusting that I will hire him to do work at a later date. Keep in mind, I was not asking him for a bid, nor did I contract with him to do work in the future. From what I have experienced, he is an honest guy who really knows his stuff across a broad range of and quot;handymanand quot; projects.

JC came to our place to give an estimate on repairing our roof and ended up spending over 4 hours with us, talking through our options with us. He was punctual, friendly, respectful of our home (took off shoes when inside) and even helped us repair our front step while he was there. In the end, he decided this wasn't his specialty, but referred us to other roofers and even made the call for us. Thanks JC!

Excellent service, prompt response, and very professional. All projects were completed to my satisfaction and the quality of work was exceptional. Definately on my call again list.

I would rate JC's work A+. None of the work we had done was major but he treated it just as seriously as if it was an entire home building. He knows how to do things the right way and doesn't try to cut corners.He is very professional in his work and behavior.

He is very thorough, explains things very carefully and is professional. He was very quick to get back to us with pricing and job details. I will use him again in the future.

It turned out great. The price sounds high for soffit vent covers, but it's a 25 foot high wall so he had to get up on a tall ladder to do the work. That is the reason we hired somebody to do it. He was a nice guy. He did the work. The soffit vents are covered. The starlings are no longer in there including the dead ones we found and cleaned out. We didn't have to deal with any problems throughout or afterwards except for a bunch of angry starlings making a bunch of noise.

JC did an awesome job! He as professional and prompt. His price was very reasonable. After the job was completed I called him with some questions. He was quick in his response. Definitely recommend.

After one botched repair, the roof continued to leak. I called another contractor who looked at the roof, gave me an estimate, told me he would be able to start work in a month, then when I called him, told me his previous job wasn't finished and it would be another month. I called another company, they gave me an estimate, said they could start right away. I said OK, and go ahead. I called a week later to ask when they would start. They said they didn't understand that I had agreed to have them do the job. Then ....they said they couldn't start for a month. Whew. I called J.C. Unger. He got the job done one week after I first called him. He kept in touch with me and sent me pictures of the roof before and after. His bid was right in the middle of the other two bids, and I thought a very fair price for the job. He informed me of the materials he would use and the type of roof he was applying. He clearly cared about his work. After frustrating experiences with other contractors, I was lucky to find J.C. and I would recommend him highly.

J.C. is a busy contractor, with several jobs on the go. He is also a painstaking professional who really cares about getting the job done well. It took a few back-and-forth e-mails to find a time that would work for both parties, but once he started work, he showed amazing perserverance. He spent three whole days on my roof and removed over 650 pounds of debris (he weighed his truck before and after at the dump/recycle plant). He was great to deal with, personable and friendly, and gave me regular progress reports.

Very well. It did take much longer than I anticipated due to his other commitments. But his communication was very good and the work quality was excellent. He also stayed true to the bid. He was observant of other problems and made suggestions.

We had used this company before to fix a closet door and had been very pleased with the results. I don't know how many employees work for Unger Construction, but Mr. J.C. Unger himself has answered our calls each time. On this occasion we showed Mr. Unger the 3 jobs for him to look at. He tackled each systematically and efficiently, spending approximately 2-3 hours on them in total, including picking up a replacement part at Jerry's. On item #3 he took the time to inspect the flashing around a skylight that had a chronic leak and was able to pinpoint the location of the leak (something that skylight leak "specialists" had not been able to do on prior visits). After identifying the problem flashing he suggested that we contact the company that had installed our roofing to see if they would make it right. As of this writing that company has not yet returned our call. If we do not obtain satisfaction from them, we are confident that Mr. Unger will be able to fix the problem.

I called on a Friday afternoon and this contractor was able to show up the next day (on a Saturday!) and do the work. My primary residence is in a different town so I was not able to be onsite, so this contractor emailed me pictures of what he did. I would recommend him to anyone needing a contractor who can show up quickly and do a professional job.

JC Unger kept on top of things from my initial contact tto end of job. His response time was usually one day and hewould respond to my many questions with courtesy and comprehnesive detail. His bid was very competitive. This plus the proposed construction plans led me to choose Unger Construction. I am glad I did. The actual construction took a week (leaving time for the concrete to cure), and I am very pleased with the the result

He was wonderful. He was timely, he was reasonable, he was very polite, and I’m using him again to build a small porch. He is the guy to go to because he’s prompt, efficient, and reliable.

Promptly provided estimate. Scheduled cleaning date about 6 weeks out, called prior to cleaning to confirm. Arrived on time (neither early or late). Finished job in two days. Very clean, nearly all debris captured in containers rather than thrown over roof and then cleaned off ground.
