For the best service please give us a call at (541) 343-9339. We're a family owned and operated business, covering Eugene and Springfield, Oregon and the surrounding areas. We specialize in plumbing repair, small remodels, as well as sewer and drain cleaning, repair and replacement. Our current business form started in 1979, when Bernard Petersen took over the Petersen Plumbing business name from his father, Austin Petersen, a long-time businessman in the area. Austin started his primary business, Austin 1-Stop Plumbing, in 1946, and operated it until he sold the name to Bernard in 1999. Currently, Austin Plumbing and Petersen Plumbing are operating as affiliated businesses, and both names can be seen on our trucks. Austin's father, Alex, worked some in the business in the early years, and Bernard's brothers Greg and Kurt work today. Bernard's sons are currently apprentices, and his nieces and nephews have occasionally been seen helping as well, when their studies and schedules permit. Truly a 4th generation business, we look forward to welcoming the 5th generation in just a few short years!

Although the first appointment was rescheduled due to their employee's illness. The next date the plumber and his assistant arrived on time and was courteous and professional. The work performed was good with no call backs required. However, they arrived without all the appropriate tools. I had to loan them some of mine to get the work done. I am accustom to seeing their trucks around town and assumed they were well organized and properly tooled. The total price was a shocker, but considering the difficult work to crawl under the house, I feel price was fair. I would like to see them come better equipped next time I need plumping work.

I was happy with the work and it all seemed to go alright. They did try and talk me into a new water heater but I don't blame them for trying to up-sell. I was a little put out when I discovered they charged me approximately five times the cost for the new elements than Lowes charges.

Thank you for your business, we certainly appreciate the opportunity to help you with your plumbing needs. We did look at what Lowe's is offering on its website. As far as we can tell, the nearest comparable to what we carry and install would be the most expensive elements Lowe's offers. We try very hard to source hi-quality, American made parts whenever possible, and they do tend to cost more than what the big box stores offer. With that said, we will cheerfully install your parts whenever we can safely do so, if you request it. We will not warranty parts that we did not sell, of course.

My toilet was clogging and threatening to overflow. With Thanksgiving just days away, I had to have a functioning toilet for the house full of people I was expecting. Three hours after I called, the plumber and an assistant were at my house. After discussing the situation and hearing they had a new toilet on the truck, I opted to replace the old one which was always frustratingly slow to flush. They even provided a new seat and caulked around the base of the new toilet. They also checked the tub for clogs and adjusted the stopper. I found them to be very professional, courteous, and efficient. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Fred and Matt came out on a Saturday afternoon after keeping in good touch with us about when they would arrive. We live out in the country and the part of the house with the plumbing problem was only accessed down a long, curving driveway surrounded by thick vegetation. First tip that these guys were top-notch was watching them work together to back their big truck/traveling workshop down the driveway. They were careful with vegetation as their communication skills were masterful. Then Fred started figuring out the problem and nicely shared with me, the house-owner, what was going on. First he explained how this tank worked and what might be the problem. As he opened the tank and found what was needed to fix it, again he told me what he was doing and how it was to be repaired. I learned so much about new details of my home. Again, Fred and Matt worked together as a team to fix the problem and test it several times to make sure it was working properly. They then cleaned the area up perfectly and headed back to their truck to prepare the bill. All of this, from start to finish, was completed in just about an hour. How amazing - so amazing I wanted to photograph these to guys as My Favorite Plumbers.

I called at 10 am to arrange for service. They said they could come around 2 pm. SAME DAY. They called at 12 and asked if they could come early. They arrived, were friendly, got the job done quickly and left well before they were scheduled to have arrived. It was amazing. They did a good job. Granted it was a slam dunk...putting a faucet in an existing sink with lines in place but it went as well as it possibly could have. I would SO use them again.

I like it that they were able to show up the next morning. I called them one day and they were there 8 o'clock the next morning. I used them three times now and the first time was when there's a terrible freeze and pipes broke so it's really hard to get a plumber at all. What I liked was they kept communicating with me everyday to support me until a plumber was able to show up. I also like that they give you some options to think about before you decide on what work to do. They're a little expensive but they're so professional. It's a three generation family of plumbers so you know you're getting the best experience. The quality is excellent. They're on time and they show up when they say they would. During that emergency, it was hard but other times, they're right on time. Mrs. Petersen kind of takes care of the books and communication and she's eager to get feedback about how to make anything better and is eager to please the customer.

Thank you! We really do appreciate your feedback, and your ongoing business! :-) We always do try to give people options, whenever possible. In plumbing repair, there is usually a "good, better, best" way to repair something, and whenever possible the choice should be the customer's. Sometimes our options are limited by the plumbing code or by the laws of physics, but we always try to offer whatever options we can.

Very well. The original installer had used a 'T' with one side capped off instead of an elbow. This made it impossible for a snake to get around the bend. Peterson's folks did the job quickly and efficiently and the tub drains fine now.

The plumber was on time and called before coming over. That is always a nice touch so that I can be ready. They replaced the parts quickly. After they completed the job they told me and showed me what was done and went through each issue and made sure I was totally satisfied before they packed up. I was concerned about the leak so the plumber checked it with me and we dried the whole area, tested it and waited to make sure it all stayed dry. I was very impressed by their speed, quality and price.

The plumbing employee was on time and appropriately dressed. He was friendly, efficient and able to problem-solve quickly. He had the right tools to fix the drain, worked carefully and left the area neat and tidy. What really impressed me was that he knew that the faucet parts we needed were likely under warranty (they were) and assisted me in getting the replacement parts sent directly to us for free. The value added by having someone that has experience and professionalism made this a great deal.

It was a bit unnerving when one plumber and his assistant showed up and had to leave because, he said, this was too much work for him to do and he had other appointments scheduled. After explaining what needed to be done when I called in to request service, I would have thought one person could have completed the work. So another plumber came out and completed the work. He was very nice. Completed the job. I gave only a "B" for quality, because the shower is not complete and the contractor and I have no way of knowing if everything is going to work as it should, or if there will be leaks.

Frustrating. The first team arrived with the broken tool. They worked for an hour with the broken tool and with another tool that was inappropriate for the job. After about an hour, I asked them to stop work until they had the correct tool. They departed having only worsened the clog. I contacted the office and reported my dissatisfaction. The second team arrived the same day (Yay!) with a functional tool and cleared the drain. We all believed that clearing the drain had created a leak. I was dissatisfied by then and planned to use another company for the leak repair. The next day Petersen arrived again, without an appointment, ready to do the repair. I was flabbergasted that they came without an appointment (I was not even home) and assumed that we wanted them to do the next repair. To add insult to injury, Petersen then BILLED me for the unsolicited house call. Although I eventually negotiated payment that felt fair to me, I had a bad taste in my mouth from the experience. My interraction with the office staff had some negative energy as well. In particular, the staff reported that they required permission from "the boss" to adjust the bill, but by the end of the conversation did indeed adjust the bill. I received three separate bills from Petersen, all for one tub drain clearing, which I believe could have been handled in one trip, in less than one hour, with one functioning tool.

Our water went out. Called Petersen, they came that day to troubleshoot. Following day they brought new one, installed it, hauled off old one. The water heater they had with them was not the correct size. They had to return to shop to get correct one--did not charge us for this additional time required. New one in successfully, but we noticed a leak in the connection. They returned promptly the next day and fixed it quickly. Our many questions were answered and the technicians provided several helpful tips which we appreciated. Will definitely call them for future needs.

Exceeded expectations. Greg Petersen and his crew are very hard working. Advised about other problems beyond plumbing. Worked within estimate and came in under budget. Top quality work. Replaced all 1-1/2" galvanized steel drain pipes with 2" PVC pipes, and rerouted drain pipes to allow for a greater, to code, drop. Replaced galvanized steel water supply pipes with PEX "plastic" pipes. Added new routing for water pipes to add outside faucets in more convenient locations. .

Petersen Plumbing responded to a water leak at my daughter's house the morning I called. The gentleman who responded, and ultimately completed the work was prompt, courteous, and professional. After checking under the house, he determined the plumbing needed to be replaced from the meter to the house, and that all the old galvanized plumbing under the house was in need of replacing. He said he'd contract the underground bore for the new piping from the meter to the house, but that the total cost would be less than $4000. Jeff then said he could not start the job for several days. My daughter and her family moved into my house for the several days until the job could be done. Jeff, the plumber was very responsive - he called me to tell me that I needed to pay the underground pipe borer directly ($450), which I did over the phone. After Jeff finished the plumbing job, my daughter called to tell me that the inspector was there, and that the work did not pass inspection because the pipes needed to be insulated. I called the company to tell them that the pipes needed to be insulated (and asked "wasn't that included in the job?") The company said some inspectors required insulating, and others did not. They then sent the plumber back to the house with insulation and he finished the job for an additional charge of $144.94. After insulating the pipes,Jeff called to tell me the cost was $2464.94 and asked for my credit card information. I was elated that the job was done, and well under the originally estimated cost and gave Jeff my debit information. The next day, when I was checking my bank account, I discovered Petersen Plumbing had charged my account for the $2464.94 AND an additional $580.90!! I immediately called the company, and the receptionist told me that the plumber had erred in his addition of my bill, so they charged the additional amount. I told the receptionist that her actions were unacceptable because they did NOT CONTACT ME ABOUT THE ADDED COST prior to charging my account, thereby costing me bank transfer fees to cover that additional amount (I don't have thousands in my checking account at any given time). I asked to speak to the owner of the company who called me the following morning telling me he would be in my neighborhood and stop by my house. SEVERAL hours later, the owner of the company did come to my house and apologized for the inconveniences; He said this situation was a topic of conversation in the office, and related a story of one of the employees having problems with Sears... I told him that was not the issue - the issue was he bounced my checking account and cost my account fees + interest. At that point he offered me a "$10 he had in his pocket". I declined the bill and he left. After the fiasco with my bank account I decided to wait until my anger had abated before writing my Angie's list review... In the meantime, the city of Springfield went to my daughter's house to inspect, and said there were 2 electrical issues requiring correction prior to their passing the inspection. Apparently, an electrician had to 'ground' something to do with the plumbing, and the breaker box had issues. I contacted Gary's Electric through Angie's list, and Gary went there, fixed not only the issues the inspector mentioned, but cleaned up a couple others; did the job in less than an hour, charged me $85, and was on his way. Now, IMAGINE my returning anger when I received a bill from an electrician today (01/29/14) for $365 for "installing a new ground rod per bid"!!! I did not expect this bill, and feel that since this electrician was contracted by Petersen plumbing it should have been included in the price I had already paid Petersen plumbing. I can only assume the plumber did a good job on the work based on the inspector's "pass" upon the insulation being done. I am the first to admit that I should have gotten a written bid from Jeff, and I am REALLY sorry did not. The fact of the matter is that upon completion of the job, this company's work did not pass inspection TWICE - first the plumbing was not insulated, then the electrical issues needed to be address. The business practices of this company are so VERY LESS than professional - the owner maintains it is a communication issue that he will be addressing with his employees. All I know is that neither I, nor anyone else I know will ever do business with Petersen Plumbing ever again. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.

Under the circumstances, I also wish we'd had a written bid. I will note that, had we made a formal bid, it would have been for the same amount or slightly more than you ended up paying for the total job. As you mentioned to Mr Petersen yesterday, the total cost of this job is very close to the verbal estimate you were given in the beginning. Nevertheless, I am very sorry for your unfortunate experience. How my I make this right for you? Sue Petersen
