Ken Rayhorn was very thorough on his visit to give an estimate and actually made a second trip out the day before work was scheduled to double check some measurements to be sure they arrived with everything they needed the following day. As can happen, once they got the siding off the front of the barn they found additional work that needed to be done. Besides more extensive dry rot damage, they discovered hidden structural problems in how the barn was originally built and repaired in the past... i.e. one corner of the 2-story barn was being held up by an unpressure treated 2x6 and some header beams were spliced and unsupported. Ken was great about showing me what they uncovered, explaining how it was affecting the structure, and giving options for how he could address it. I wanted it fixed right (this was the same problem I'd paid someone else about $1,200 to fix just 4 years ago) but I didn't want to do work than was only marginally needed at this time. He was as careful with my money as I was, perhaps more so since he knew what items were the most important to focus on. Because of this the things that cropped up unexpectedly did not quadruple the price and he stayed reasonably close to the original quote while still giving us a structurally sound barn. So glad I found him! I've got him scheduled to do a number of other projects around our farm.

Ken has done two jobs for us now, each with multiple facets, and we are very pleased with the results. He was professional, courteous, prompt and responsive to our needs. We felt his prices were fair, and will definitely be hiring him for future projects.

First, I want to say the gentleman that came to my home were very nice, polite, and agreeable to what needed to be done. However, the price - including their price for overhead/profit - was a bit unusual. We notice that the screening was placed in front of a rotor for the irrigation system that can no longer water the area. The repair for the vent was great, but now the heat lamp on that side no longer works. The installation of a new bath fixture makes a loud buzzing noise. This is the reason for my C grade overall and price.

Ken and Dave performed the job. They were very courteous and efficient. The job was little pricy in my opinion but I believe the job was well done. I definitely will recommend them.

It went great. They built the fence in two days and it looks great.

They came, surveyed our list of repairs and what the work would entail, promptly gave us an estimate, and scheduled the work to fit our limited time frame. The work was completed in one day and completely to our satisfaction. The variety of jobs they could tackle was amazing and a relief to simply get everything done at once. We have already asked them to perform some work needed at our new house.

As always, they were considerate, aware of my budget, offered helpful advice, and completed the job on time. They were working with a house that has not been updated since 1955, working around rotten boards and odd sized features, and took everything in stride. I trusted them to choose the proper door, at a reasonable cost, and they came through quite well. I plan to use them again in the very near future - in fact, I don't see myself using anyone else.

These guys went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure a professional, finished job, and charged me exactly what they estimated. They did their best to accommodate my schedule, even coming after typical work hours. I won't hesitate to contact them again!

Where do I start? This is by far the most professional construction company I have dealt with. They are courteous and care about doing a good job. I am impressed with the details. I have flower baskets, flowers pots, a barbecue and outdoor furniture that Dave moved back and forth as he proceeded with the job. He moved everything back when he was finished???.all with a smile and great attitude. He was very careful in the painting; very neat. Quality work!!! I think they're amazing. They're the most honest people. Since my husband and myself moved into this neighborhood they've helped us ever since, especially a worker named Ken. They rebuilt our deck, they helped with our gazeebo and there's really nothing he can't do.

They did it in adverse weather. They did a phenomenal job. It went very well. Their ability to communicate was great. They were here when they said they were going to be here. They worked late as long as they have light and they got the job done in the amount of time they said they would get it done. They are just very professional and very personable. The crew was very good. I would highly recommend them to anybody. The quality was, in my opinion, above the price. The quality is amazing.

We contacted Ken and Ray after a "self project" turned out to be more than we imagined. We have an old privacy fence that was gaping and some of the boards were rotten. Rather than replace the entire fence, we contacted Ken and Ray and they were able to secure loose, leaning fence posts, replace rotten and missing boards and cover gaps and holes that made the fence look dilapidated. After they were finished with their work, the fence looks great. You can no longer see through to the neighbors yard and all of the gates now close securely. We were so impressed with the quality of their work and their professionalism, that we continue to add to the list of projects for them. They cleaned the moss from our roof and we have scheduled them to return to complete some indoor repairs. We would definitely recommend them and we will be using their services many more times.

They came when they said they would, they did everything I asked and did it better than expected. The cleaned up after themselves. Probably better than I would have done

I heard about Helpful Hands from a friend at work. At the time we had water coming in through the bathroom window sometimes during storms. They traced the problem in the addition of the house where they connected. It took them a while- (hard to find leak), but they found and repaired it and we haven't had any more problems. They coordinated for us to find a good contractor for painting the exterior of the house a couple years ago. It went well and the house looks great. They found a couple problem areas with the old original siding and fixed it. They install a new toilet when the old one bit the dust. The repaired some fencing and reinforced existing fencing that was damaged by winter storms. Great group to work with: professional, dedicated, and personable. Will use them again and refer to others.

We did not really dislike anything about them. They were very good. They were on time. They were personable. They did a good job, and they did good quotes. We recommend them.

I admire their versatility and the quality of their workmanship. The copper caps on the fence gates were an unexpected, very nice touch. The new fencing is a beauty to behold. It gives me pleasure every time I gaze out my window and view the precision and craftsmanship evidenced in everything they have done for me. Helpful Hands Construction was a joy to work with. Before the summer is over, I plan to have them back to assist with several other projects. They always give me a free estimate on the work to be performed and have completed each job in a timely, professional manner easily within the estimate. I do not hesitate to recommend them.

I thought they were very good. Their price was very reasonable. They did a good job in helping me paint and do the job on the windows and floors.

He began the work with a belt sander. He didn't finish the paint removal under the bannister's. He had to do a lot work with trial and error as to what would take the paint off the deck.

They are able to do just about anything. The two owners are Ken Rayhorn and Larry Hughitt. They are licensed, bonded and insured. My real estate broker recommended them. I called them almost right away because I was having problem with the water pressure. They installed a new toilet that I picked out before I moved in. They do woodworking and they replaced the casing around one of my windows. There have been so many projects that I lose track of all of them. They gave me a bid to replace a fence at the rear boundary of my property. They stained the side fence. I don't feel uncomfortable asking them to do anything that doesn't require a licensed contractor. They can do that kind of work but if it is wiring or replacing plumbing I would use an electrician or licensed plumber. I find their charges very reasonable given the quality of their work. I haven't gotten competing bids. They are the kind of people where I would leave the back door unlocked and just tell them to lock it when they leave. They get the work done and they are good at giving estimates. They are very busy people and they work in my projects, as well as projects for other people. They are both retired and they acquired all their knowledge through work that they have done on their own homes.
