We received a proposal to paint the exterior of our home in Eugene for $5773, using Sherwin Williams paint. The proposal clearly stated "paint to be applied in 2 coats". We wanted to use Benjamin Moore paint and the salesman Jeff Rondestvedt said that was fine, and based on an internet price he found for BM Aura paints, he said it would cost $729 additional. I agreed (so the price would have been $6502). But the contract that came to me for signature was $6958, an additional $456 more. Jeff's explanation was that he could not get the paint at the price he quoted me. I grudgingly accepted the new pricing --- we just want the house painted. But I noted that the contract now said window trims were to be painted "one coat". This was never discussed. I raised the issue with Cathy Spoor, the owner, and she said she would change it to 2 coats and re-send a new contract. I got the new contract and it said 2 coats alright, but the price was changed to $7029! This gave me a really bad feeling. The numbers and terms kept changing. What next? I complained to Cathy and she said she had to check with Jeff R. I waited to hear back, but reminded her that I had 3 business days to cancel the contract. Next thing I knew, Cathy sent me an email and said she had canceled the contract! No explanations. Unbelievable! I'm guessing that Certapro did not want us as a client because they would make less money by not using SW paints, even though we agreed to pay for the price difference in using BM paints. Incredibly unprofessional and unethical behavior. Furthermore, I believe the contract cancelation by Certapro was illegal. According to the Home Solicitation Sales Act and the Home Improvement Act, the right to cancel belongs to the client. It is there to protect the buyer, not to be used by a contractor to get better terms. Member Update: Cathy, Your reasoning is unsound and you twisted the facts to paint me as the difficult customer. Furthermore, you have no respect for the importance of already negotiated terms. You should not be in a service industry when you have no understanding of the binding nature of a negotiated and signed contract. Proposals are exactly what they are: you propose terms of service and the customer responds with questions and changes. The two usually work together to firm up the terms and come to an agreement, or if they cannot come to an agreement, they do not enter into a contract. Saying on Angie's List that you "adjusted the proposal several times" does not make me out to be a bad person; that's how negotiations are carried out. That's how the process is supposed to work. When the terms have been worked out, the parties sign a contract REFLECTING THOSE TERMS. Neither should be able to make changes unilaterally after that. I tried hard to clarify everything after receiving the proposal, including the paint I wanted to use, the scheduling, and "2 coats of paint" exactly because I wanted to avoid any misunderstandings. You and Jeff R. were the ones who kept changing the terms after they were agreed upon (2 coats of paint to one coat of paint; 3 weeks time line to 6 weeks), and sent me a contract with terms you changed unilaterally without any discussion with or even notice to me. When I brought that to your notice, you then unilaterally canceled the ALREADY SIGNED contract and sent me a new one with MORE NEW TERMS (additional money, with no explanation). Cathy, after a contract is signed and the terms are worked out, you cannot on your own keep changing the terms to your advantage. I did not abruptly cancel the job --- YOU DID. The contract gives me (not you) the right to cancel, by sending you a signed cancelation before the deadline. You did not receive one, did you? Instead, YOU went ahead and CANCELED THE JOB A WEEK BEFORE the project was supposed to start, and left me high and dry in a busy period when it is impossible to engage another contractor in a timely fashion. That is totally unacceptable underhanded behavior. You are bullying the customer.

This company worked fast and did a great job. Great about communicating and making sure I was getting what I wanted. They also cleaned up thoroughly before they left. Would definitely work with them again!

Lousey. Do not do business with these people. After long weeks deliberations, selecting paints,contracts, etc. They called, 3 days before my vacation, and cancelled. Explanation: things I wanted in contract they did't like. No chance to negotiate. Just pulled the plug and left me hanging. Don''t let this happen to you. Its almost July and I am stuck with no painter. These people have no business ethics.

The quality of the work was very good. The house looks great. The color consult from Sherwin Williams was very helpful in getting the color scheme to match existing colors.

The whole experience went very well and the house looks better than new. We got a free estimate from Jeff to start the process. Jeff is very professional and he did a thorough examination of the house and presented us with a detailed estimate with different options to address our needs. Their paint crew arrived on time and the job was finished ahead of schedule. The next day, two of the crew members came back to evaluate the job and do any necessary touch-ups. The columns in the front look better than new and the dry rot area was replaced with new wood. We are very happy with how our house looks now.

It went very well for me. The painters had worse luck though. A hose broke, spewing paint on the grass on the tree and the mulch. They replaced the mulch. The rest will go with a trim to the lawn and tree. Then after the first coat it was discovered on closer inspection that wasn't enough and a full second coat was applied. He wanted to make sure I was happy, so they got ready, taped everybody and worked til they were done.

The house is on a steep hill and was very challenging. Certapro did the work very thoroughly, even with the extra demands.

Excellent overall experience: courteous, careful, clean, responsive, large crew, timely, etc. Would definitely recommend.

It went very smoothly. The painters were awesome and so considerate. I have high celings with a shelf on one side. There was a tree of life on that way, that I was unable to reach. They took it down and when they finished painting, they put the tree back up. I didn't even ask for that. They were very efficient and were happy to do the job.

The painting is mostly lovely. There were, however, many paint spots left on both the hardwood and carpeted floors. The crew returned to clean some of them and probably would have done them all, but that would have taken a long time, so I didn’t insist on it.

Excellent. CertaPro asked for my final approval, and when I noted a small area with a smudged line, they immediately made an appointment and came back and fixed it all. The painters were gracious and professional. They did a very quick job between rainstorms in November. I would hire them again in a minute.

It turned out just fine. It took a long time. We have a lot of exterior. We don't have a big house but we have a lot outside. Everything went fine. It was expensive. It cost that much because I was very specific with what I wanted. It is a very old house and while like I said it's not a huge interior but it was put together very oddly. It has a lot of exterior. I told them very upfront, I personally don't ever want to paint this house again. So I want you to use the best quality paint you can and pay attention to every detail because when I put this house on the market because it's time for us to move. That can't be a factor. I can't have to say well we need to paint this house again before we put it on the market. So I pushed for the highest quality of everything that I could do on that project but it was worth it because I honestly don't want to paint it again. I don't want any little projects left. I want you to do it like it's your mothers house - a very exacting, bi&*&y mother. CertaPro as a company does not do the painting. They contract it. They come out and do the bid and figure out the cost but they have subcontractors that actually do the painting. So there's that added layer of expense cause you're paying the parent company plus you're paying the people doing the painting. That's not normally the way I would go but I don't think we are going to live in this house maybe another 5 or 7 years. If you go with the guy down the street that paints house and if something goes wrong and he's already gone out of business you are screwed. By hiring CertaPro, which is a national company, if something goes wrong we have somebody to fall back on. The subcontractor I would give an A to. If the circumstances were the same I would use them again. Our franchisee was a very helpful and nice guy. You are going to pay top dollar and you have to decide if the benefit of paying top dollar offsets the cost.

I haven't had an occasion to it them recently, but I sure think it's a valuable service. It was my son't home in Eugene, Oregon. He thought the price was reasonable, I don't live there. He was pleased with them. My son was real happy with them. He said that they were timely and fair priced and professional. I don't think there were any problems at all.

Being that at the time of my search the weather was consistently warm and that daylight savings was about to end soon, this just added more pressure on me to get this job done fast. I knew painting had to get done before the soon to come colder climate and darker days. I immediately found out that contractors were in high demand, charging premium prices and/or not available until at least a month away. I stumbled across . I saw the CertaPro logo on a car parked at our neighbors and investigated reviews. Admittedly I was a little nervous that in this very demanding time, they were available professional, also affordable. I have had bad experiences with painters being timely and having good communication before and was slightly pessimistic. Anyway, they did an awesome job. They were meticulous with the prep work (power washing and scraping) and put on 2 coats of high grade paint during 2 and a half days of work. They triple checked all of our needs before during and after the job which made for a flawless experience.We will be using them in the future and recommend them to anyone else as well.

My husband and I have no complaints with Jeff and Cathy Spoor from CertaPro. They gave us a competitive quote for exterior painting of our home that we felt was fair given that there was also a need to replace some exterior panels due to rot. Additionally, they provided a color consultation, which my husband and I greatly appreciated since we do not have much experience with picking exterior colors. Jeff and Cathy stayed in touch with us throughout, letting us know when action was needed and answered all of our questions thoroughly. Once it was time to begin the process, the crew that came out to our house was wonderful. They also continually updated us on what they were going to be working on and what still needed to be done. The crew was great, even went above and beyond on making minor repairs to our side gate which was kind of rickety - something they didn't need to do but did anyway. We recommend Jeff and Cathy Spoor without any reservations!

except for miscommunication about scheduling, they did a great job paying close attention to detail ad going beyond what was expected as far as caulking window frames. Heather, Shane, Tim, and Daniel were a joy to work with.

Jeff did a walk around before the painters even started. Addressed concerns I had. Then they gave me a date to paint and it was done in a timely manner. The painters were very professional and did a very good job.

CertaPro crew finished in three days. Arrived on time, ready to work, and stayed late each day to achieve that day's goals. Returned a week or so later to touch up a couple of missed spots.

Painters turned up promptly. They worked solidly all day, despite some damp weather with the odd shower from time to time. The paint used ( Sherwin Williams ), had an additive to allow for damp cold weather and still be capable of a 2nd coat the same day. The end result was everything I had hoped for. I am calling them back to quote on painting the inside of our house. I especially appreciate that after a quotation, they do not require an acceptance in just a couple of weeks.

Excellent job all around, from the start Jeff answered all of our questions and provided a very detailed quote for repainting the entire interior of our home. The painting crew was outstanding!
