Description of Work: I got a bid from Bear electric to "move" a light switch and light housing. I estimated that if I did it myself it would take at least a couple hours, so I thought I could find a licensed electrician that could do it in an hour and cost ~ $200 or so. The bid came in closer to $700 with no explanation of why it would take so long as it was a relative simple job. They were very professional and punctual, but for me it was just too expensive. I went with another company that only charged me $250, so Bear was charging about 200% more for the same service.

Description of Work: They came out to my home and showed me how to restore power after a surge. My house is incorrectly wired so he sorted it out so I could open my gate and get my electricity back up and running.

I had a heat pump system put in which required electrical wiring and the company that put in the system used Bear Electric for the electrical work. I was very impressed with the workmen that came out that day so when I needed this electrical work I called them and they sent another equally professional person. He was very nice and they do good work. They are a very good company and they care for feedback from their people. They seem to really care about what I think, which is good to know because not a lot of companies do. I did have him check about installing an attic fan. He found that some wiring that had been done had not been done to code and he corrected it. It was an additional charge because it took him 30 minutes. He showed me what needed to be done and why it wasn't safe. Certain of the wires had to be capped. His original suggestion was to call back the original people that had done the work but I asked him to do it when he was here and I didn't want that company to come back because I wouldn't know if they did it correctly.
Description of Work: I used Bear Electric to install additional electrical outlets upstairs in a bathroom and outside in the garage. There was several of them.

Description of Work: estimate of work and materials with different scenarios for future remodeling gone over. work performed and additional service provided. I did some work to prepare laying conduit so total cost could be reduced.

+ -1 moreThey became a source of contention because every time they came, they did something wrong. I think they were one of the reasons that there were setbacks with our kitchen remodel. I thought they were unprofessional and that they didn’t seem to know what they were doing. We had them add electrical outlets in some other rooms but they cut such large holes that we had to buy over-sized face plates for each one of them. Also, they installed an industrial looking outlet in our kitchen though we had specifically asked for it to be aesthetically pleasing. Every time they came in, there was always something that we were unhappy about especially because they were doing jobs that are fairly standard.
Description of Work: Bear Electric did the electrical work during our kitchen remodel.

+ -1 moreGreat with Bear, terrible with Performance. Bear not only did a top electrical job, they also made it look good aethetically. He was a real craftsman--wish I remembered his name!
Description of Work: Bear was subcontracted to do the electrical work for a heat pump installation. The electrician told me that he thought my main breaker (installed by Performance Electric in 2004) was undersized for the load and might be dangerous. The city inspector also thought it might be undersized, and apparently contacted Jack at Performance. Jack then called me and was extremey rude and criticized Bear.
