I was happy to hear that the cracked heat exchange from the 1996 furnace was under warranty still. However, considering the labor cost to install this "free" part was holding me back from taking the easy way out of just fixing it for now. It took me a while to come to my decision and I was warm all the while with space heaters that Ric had brought over and set up not even 30 minutes after Jonathon, the service tech, had left my place. The existing furnace was not working and they wanted to make sure that we were comfortable in the meantime. The new unit was installed in one day and I wouldn't have even known that they were in the garage besides the shiny, new furnace. I was happy that nothing of the project turned into a change order or an add on. There was nothing that Ric had left out of the picture, truly a turn-key installation. I am glad that the service includes the first year of maintenance as I am happy to have Home Heating servicing our furnace. Who knew that a new furnace and air filter could lead to easier breathing and a better quality of life in your own home? Home Heating!

The work was done on time and as specified in the contract. The workers did a good job and cleaned up the work area before they went home at night. The system works as promised.

His boss came out and he was a very nice guy and he did get it started. I got more than my moneys worth but I was very dissatisfied that he would not back up that I needed a new furnace from my insurance company and that my furnace should be replaced through home warranty. It said a lot that his person could not get the stove lit and it takes quite a bit of work for any maintenance and just the operation of the furnace to work. If I had a different stove or gas furnace I would use them. UPDATE 11.19.2012 He gave me excellent service. I think my dissatisfaction came from the home warranty purchase I had made. It was not well explained. I thought I could get a new furnace and I couldn't. I took it out on the guys who were supposedly responsible for helping me get a new one. I learned from speaking with the insurance company that even though it wasn't my main mode of heating the house and I had hoped to get the fireplace replaced, I actually could not.

The work turned out pretty good. He had some new employees that he had to correct but he did do that and we were pleased with the work. The air duct cleaning guys left a mess behind.

I found Home Heating and Cooling Inc. on Angie's list and decided to give them a try due to the high ratings they had received from other clients. I wasn't disappointed. Starting with Ric and the estimate he provided, to the work completed by Mel and Eli, the entire experience was very pleasant. They were all very service oriented and courteous. I will absolutely recommend Home Heating and Cooling Inc. to others.

My overall experience was excellent. They immediately responded to any and all of my phone calls, were always very courteous and considerate, and left the job site on each occasion in very clean order. What was initially expected to be a fairly simple job turned out to be very complex and time consuming and I'm sure must have caused them a great deal of frustration. At no time did they let this get the better of them and they maintained a very upbeat and professional approach to each new challenge they were presented with. They are a credit to their industry and I shall certainly contact them again in the event of any future problems.

I had Ric come by a rental house I just purchased for my third estimate from an HVAC contractor. He was professional, courteous, and took the time to ask good questions and explain things to me during his initial visit. The only things that I didn't like about the first visit were that he unhooked my dryer from the vent without putting it back, and I didn't ask for him to look at the dryer vent anyway. He also removed another vent and didn't put it back in place. Finally, he would not leave me with any paperwork on an estimate or detail of the services he proposed. He told me that he would provide that in writing if I liked what I heard and decided to work with him. I found that odd since all other contractors provided me with a detailed estimate, but got over that oddity as I liked the visit overall. I called Rick a week later to tell him that I would like to work with him, but would first like a written proposal of the costs and products/services that he was proposing. I explained that all of the bids/estimates I had contained different components (some included electrical work and some did not, some included duct cleaning and some did not, etc.) and I wanted to compare them to one another to make sure I made a decision understanding that I was comparing apples to apples (or not). I also wanted the furnace model number so that I could do some research on consumer reports, etc. Rick refused to provide me with a written proposal or bid. He instead wanted to me again to go over items, and said that he would not provide a written bid/estimate/proposal as he didn't want them floating all over town. I had no intention to do anything except for educate myself with the proposal. He explained that he had competitors that had used his proposals in the past (or something to that effect) and he couldn't have written proposals floating around. I have no idea who signs up for a $5,000 furnace installation without clearly understanding in writing what is included. In an age of information, most everyone wants more information to analyze, compare, and educate themselves. People are also busy and want the ability to analyze information and do research at their convenience. Not sharing information with customers is a really poor business model.

Ric first went under the house to check the very & give me a quote. He was professional & did a good job. He was professional & did a good job. He even came back later to seal the duct under the house with tape that he had to go & get in the shop.

I had a good experience. They were really thorough, and they went the extra mile. The pricing was average.

Our furnace stopped working in the middle of the night. We woke up on Sunday with no heat, and I was concerned about getting someone out to the house on a Sunday. I did some research and called Home Heating and Cooling in Bend. I spoke with Cecelia and she was very responsive. She called back and gave an estimated time that her tech could get to the house. Before he came, she called again to let me know he was on his way. The tech was personable and professional. He inspected the furnace, showed me the troubled igniter, and had the proper replacement in his truck. He was at the house for about 30 minutes, and everything was fixed properly It is now 2 weeks later, and the furnace has been working just fine. The overall cost was satisfactory. I'd absolutely use this company again.

All employees were excellent. They were friendly and well mannered., Their work was outstanding and they strived to maintain a clean work area. I would highly recommend them for any heating and cooling needs.

I called two heating and duct cleaning services -- Home Heating and Cooling was the most willing to serve. They quoted me half the cost as the other company, and the other company could not make it out to my house for a few days, whereas Home Heating could get here sooner. Ric arrived and gave a thorough estimate. His men came on time the next day and were very polite and complete. The cost matched the estimate.

The owner was very professional and looking to make a good name for himself, which I think accomplished with us.
