Very well. Jeremy promptly returned my call and set up an appointment to do an estimate for the work. He spent time offering advice and options. Provided a written estimate for the work. His employees showed up on time, were very polite and did the job thoroughly and quickly. The stump grinding part of the job was subcontracted and done a few days later. The subs also did a very good job. I was very happy with the work done and would definitely hire them again.
Description of Work: I needed to have two fairly large evergreen trees removed as well having the canopy raised on two other large trees, have a small laceleaf maple pruned and lastly remove 5 thorny barberry bushes.

It went great! Jeremy personally came out, quoted the work, was onsite day of, and also checked on the trees before the day of the job after a large storm came through the area. He made it very clear what would need to happen (dog not be there, move our travel trailer, access for the trees, placement of the crane, etc.) Also, when he found that I was an Angie's List member, he provided the appropriate discount, and also timely and accurately updated the bid after we learned that some branches on a tree near where the crane would be set up did not need to be removed after all. The stumps were cut to the ground, the sections of log that he left for us were in a convenient place for haul away, and they cleaned up not only our yard, for also the yards of the four neighbors who were affected by the trees being felled. I couldn't have been more impressed!
Description of Work: We needed two large trees a few feet from our house removed, one ash and one willow. The willow was rotting and moving toward the fences and house.

Jeremy and his crew arrived on time the?day the work was to be done. After he talked with his crew about the job?in detail, they set to work. Part of the crew went to work thinning and clearance pruning two large Japanese maples. Structural and clearance pruning was done to a huge native?Big Leaf maple. The biggest job was on an approximately 40 foot?Douglas fir?removing the weaker portion of a split top, clearing dead limbs and removing the lowest whorls. A 35 year old dogwood tree was given an ornamental and thinning pruning and dead wood was removed. Several rhododendrons were reduced in height to lower than roof level, shaped and dead wood removed. To finish up the job, lower limbs of a fir tree near the house were removed as well as limb removal on another Big Leaf maple. The work took a good portion of the day. When the crew left, the yard was spotless, no plants in the work areas were damaged and all wood 8 inches or more were cut to 16 inch lengths and stacked neatly where directed. Our goal to have the trees shaped up and?thinned to let more light in the yard was more than met. Jeremy and his courteous crew at For the Love of Trees more than met our high expectations! We have scheduled For the Love of Trees to do additional work for us in the coming months.
Description of Work: After living in the same home for 39 years many of our trees and shrubs were overgrown and need thinning and shaping. We called Jeremy Fry of For the Love of Trees for an estimate. As a professional certified arborist, he made a number of suggestions as to how to accomplish our goals as well as maintain the health of our trees and shrubs. Jeremy provided a detailed written estimate. After slightly modifying the plan to stay within our budget, a date was set for the job.

This was supposed to be a good tree health trim, but when the crew showed up they noticed some discrepancies from the original instructions, and discovered the cause: the trunk was splitting about midway up. That wasn't fixable, so we switched the job to a removal and stump grinding. That went off without a hitch, as scheduled and on time, despite the tight confines of our small yard and landscaping, and the safety concern of roping from an unreliable trunk. The most amazing part of the whole affair was discovering that split trunk. Jeremy had such good notes on the prescribed trim that his crew could infer the difference between what Jeremy saw and they were seeing a couple of weeks later. The tree was deteriorating that fast. That probably saved us and our neighbors a lot of trouble and expense, exactly my the goal of keeping my yard healthy and heading off more expensive problems.

The "For Love of Trees" arborist was professional, knowledgeable and prompt. Prior to the pruning, he reviewed the four trees/shrubs that I requested work for, made suggestions, and discussed what the plan for each tree would be. After our meeting, he promptly sent his proposal/bid which clearly described the work to be performed on each tree and the associated cost. Upon accepting the bid, then we scheduled the pruning date/time for his pruning crew. The crew arrived on time and did an outstanding job pruning the four trees/large shrubs. All four trees, had become overgrown and now look the best they have in years. The pruning crew did a complete cleanup after completing the pruning, leaving the area immaculate. I will definitely use For Love of Trees for my future pruning needs.

Jeremy showed up on time and walked the property. He pointed out a tree that was too close to the house that other arborists missed. His estimate was 200 less than two others I received. His crew showed up on time and quickly got to work. The crew was very courteous and a couple of times they asked me before making some of the cuts, which I appreciated. The tree removal was done with care to not damage other foliage or the fence. They hauled off the wood and cleaned up the area. The neighbors even commented on what care they took in making their thinning cuts. I couldn't have asked for a better job.

It went great. Jeremy Fry should be an ambassador! And the arborist team is safe, professional, and can precisely drop a tree anywhere they want it to go.
Description of Work: Negotiation with difficult neighbor, and cutting dangerous, rootless dead trees. Ten dead trees hanging over the neighbor's fence onto my property were a huge issue for several years. I kept asking the neighbor to cut them down, because they continued to drop dangerously heavy limbs into our yard. She would not do it. When we started the negotiations described below, she screamed and yelled about it at times, which upset our family. Eventually, after leaning more every year, the trees were at a nearly 60 degree angle, and one rootless tree was held up only by the fence. Our back yard was unusable, and the flower beds full of huge weeds, because I couldn't go back there--according to the arborist, the tall trees could fall over any minute. I decided to pay for the job myself, but I needed the neighbor's signature on the paperwork so the arborists could go on her property. Jeremy Fry spent several months negotiating with this neighbor--he changed the contract language several times, and explained things to the neighbor when she misunderstood the contract language and became difficult. Jeremy even agreed to do the job on a certain day of the week. He was a marvel of patience and professionalism. This job could never have happened without his perseverance and communication with the neighbor. The team started the job one day, then after cutting through a briar patch, realized some of the trees had no roots (they were growing in a swampy area). At that point, because the job was more dangerous than they had anticipated, they stopped work and asked for a different contract. They did not charge me for the first trip, even though they had set up and briefly used the grinding machine. After the second contract was finally negotiated with the neighbor, the arborists did a wonderful job dropping the trees through a narrow gap created when they took down two fence panels. They did not damage my nearby raised beds, and the whole job was done quickly and safely. The job cost less than the first contract. These are wonderful professionals, and very safety conscious. The team is great to communicate with. A couple years ago they took down seven larger trees on my property, and did a great job then, also.

A great experience from start to finish! Jeremy came over to our property, looked at the tree and helped us to understand what the best next steps were. In our case, the tree was 3/4 dead, very close to our property and needed to be removed before serious damage occurred. His quote was thorough and he even threw in to remove two hedges in the front of our property for free. As a reference we had 2 other quotes and all of them fell within the same budget of around 2,000$. I ultimately chose Jeremy because of his willingness to throw in those hedges and he had a great attitude. I filed the permit paper work myself which saved a bit of money and was a very easy process. After we got the permit to move forward we reached back out to Jeremy to proceed. His crew showed up promptly, introduced themselves and got to work. It was a long process, about 8 hours total for the tree take down. Throughout the entire job the crew was super skilled and careful, no damage occurred to the property even within such close proximity to our home. I was absolutely impressed and grateful for such skilled arborists. They also cleaned up the site after they were finished. Two days later we had the stump grinding scheduled and that went off without a hitch. Highly recommend and we will be using For the Love of Trees in the future!

The service was top-notch. The crew arrived on time. They were very friendly and professional. They answered all of my questions. During the course of the day, the crew called to my attention a hazard involving a limb on the red oak that was splintered at the trunk line. The limb laid out over my roofline and my neighbors fence/backyard. It was, in their opinion, just a matter of time before the weight of it would cause the limb to sever. They quoted me an additional price/hour to remove the limb. I gave them my approval to remove it. I'm glad I did because once the limb was removed it was clearly evident that the wood was nearly split in half. Although the red oak lost a limb, the additional cost saved my house and roof. The red oak looks really good and you can't even tell there was previously a limb there. The other trees look really good too. They no longer touch and the canopy is no longer touching the roof. Everything looks great. I had all of these trees pruned 2 years ago. I'll definitely be calling this service provider when I need these trees pruned again.
Description of Work: Pruned a large red oak, removed broken limbs and cleared deadwood and suckers. Pruned a vinemaple, lifted canopy to allow a 7-8 foot ground clearance and 3-foot roof clearance. Pruned a dogwood, removed deadwood, lifted and thinned canopy to allow 3-foot roof clearance. Removed all debris. Cut wood (8 inches + in diameter) to 16-inch lengths and left for firewood.

Jeremy Fry and team are thoroughly professional and easy to work with. I was a Nervous Nellie about this pruning. I had many questions and concerns and Jeremy completely satisfied my requirements, even offering thoughts on only-marginally-related landscaping issues when I asked. I walked away knowing a lot more about my trees and how to maintain my yard. Thoroughly satisfied and I would be happy to work with this company again. The last thing you want is someone hacking at your trees who does not have the professional training and background (for a bargain price, of course.) I see many trees in our city that have been maimed and forever ruined. In contrast, the descriptors for this company are: Great communication, personable interactions, eager to help, excellent results, good followup. These guys are tops and know their stuff. I heartily recommend For The Love of Trees. I love trees and Jeremy & Co. team members do too.

I used For The Love of Trees.? He ended up he couldn't do the work.? He came out with his crews to do the work.? It was right around Labor Day.? Then his crew said that we can't do it my guy under bid it.? Then they left and I talked to the owner and he wouldn't honor his bid and it ended up going around and around and the tree is still there.? I haven't gotten cut down yet.? So I was hoping that he would come out and do the work but he wouldn't honor his bid.? Then he made a bunch of excuses that I had changed the landscape and it wasn't a safe place to work, it was all this kind of stuff.? It just went around and round with just a big argument.?

Response from For The Love Of Trees, LLC
It is not clearly stated above – we did not start or complete any work for this potential client. We form many lasting, rewarding relationships with new clients every year. Our relationship with this potential client soured and came to a close before we started any work. I ask that others keep in mind that this very poor review stands in stark contrast to every single one of our previous Angie’s List reviews, most of which were submitted by clients that hired us and appreciated our level of service and professionalism. This particular residence where a tree removal was to occur was under renovations including a garage near the tree and the sloping landscape surrounding the tree. Roughly three weeks elapsed from when Steve (ISA Certified Arborist) provided a bid for the tree removal to when our crew arrived to remove the tree. During those three weeks, unknown to us and among other changes, erosion control systems and plastic barricades were erected on the slope between the tree we were to remove and the street where we were to chip and haul away all of the woody debris. These obstacles significantly complicated the tree removal requiring much more time and greater cost to complete, so much so that it would have required more arborists and time than we had planned for that day. So the crew captured a few pictures and left the job site untouched. I provided this potential client with the pictures of the barricades that had been erected near the tree, but the potential client became irate and difficult to deal with and would not understand why a cost increase was necessary. Since no services had been rendered and no money had changed hands, I informed the potential client that we could no longer in good faith offer them our arboricultural services, encouraged them to contact another tree service provider, and sincerely wished them well. We initially hired this company to trim our trees shortly after we moved into our house a year ago. Four Japanese maples of six maples total in the yard had been pruned badly by another company, but one in front of the house was the worst. It was shaped like a round ball and had suckers sticking out on all sides of it. Some tree companies we contacted advised chopping it down and starting over. We prefer to avoid removing trees unless absolutely necessary, so were pleased to finally find Jeremy, an arborist who knows his trees. He told us that with careful pruning over time, the tree could begin to look more like what a Japanese maple should look like. We saw a big improvement after the first pruning and subsequent prunings have transformed a tree that once looked like a caricature into what is becoming an object of beauty. Our other maples look better, too. We appreciate Jeremy's positive attitude and find his staff pleasant to deal with. The name of the company says it all...they care about trees and preserving them. They also do a great job!

They did a beautiful job; my yard looks a lot better with the well pruned trees although some of them could use a little more trimming. There was some confusion about how much or how low the trees would be pruned, the price was raised a little bit because of this and some of the trees might have been pruned a little less than they should have. Just make sure you are clear what you want done to prevent this. Otherwise the pruners truly did a beautiful and professional job and they cleaned everything up perfectly. They also called back to make sure that we were satisfied with the entire process.

The company was reluctant to make the drive out here, so I had to call a couple times and agree to pay for travel. However once the 2-man team was here, they did a great job. The plum had not been properly pruned for years (if ever) and had broken limbs, suckers, etc. They gave the tree a very nice shape, no limbs got too heavy and it still looks like a focal point in the yard after a season of growth. They knew exactly which branches to remove, were very professional and we would happily use them again.
